After some beginning exercises, you get to pick whatever you want to paint. I have never seen anyone leave with a bad painting. I don't even know how Tom does what he does, but he manages to coax the best out of every student. I've been going for three years now. I had never taken painting lessons before. I'm always surprised by how good my paintings look. My classmates have all created really excellent work. Some of my fellow students are art teachers. Some are art students putting together portfolios. Most of us are just hobbyists. The classes are de-stressing and fun. They always go too fast, even though they are 3 hours. I highly recommend these classes for anyone who has ever wanted to paint. I can't speak for the other classes, but there other types of art taught like sculpture and fashion design. The work I've seen from those students is really terrific too. I'm no Monet, but I've included three photos of my work so you can see what to expect in the way of results. I had never done an oil painting in my life before joining the class. I had never had a painting lesson since 8th grade. If I can do it, you can do it.

My husband booked the perfume-making experience at Seven Layers Perfumerie as an anniversary gift,…read moreand unfortunately the experience fell short of what we were expecting. When we arrived, we were the only guests there and were greeted by a young employee who was pleasant, but seemed unsure of the process herself and appeared to be following a script to guide us. We selected our fragrance notes and brought the bottles back to the counter, only to then be told we were only supposed to bring the scent strips. It was a small thing, but it added to the feeling that the experience wasn't being clearly explained or guided. Once we sat down to actually create our fragrances, we really needed more help understanding how to build and balance a scent. Instead, there were periods where our host was texting, seemingly trying to get guidance from someone else. Neither my husband nor I felt confident about what we were creating, and unfortunately we both ended up leaving with fragrances we didn't really like. Our package also included a drink, and when my husband asked about it, we were told she was under 21 and therefore unable to pour it. I completely understand that she legally could not serve alcohol, but if that is part of the package being sold, I feel there should have been someone present who could actually provide the full experience we paid for. What was supposed to be a fun, romantic anniversary activity ended up feeling awkward and rushed, and by the end we honestly just wanted to leave. I think the concept is wonderful, but for an experience like this, especially at this price point, the person hosting really needs to be knowledgeable and confident enough to guide guests through fragrance building from beginning to end. I hope this was simply an off day, because the idea has so much potential, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing.

There are no signs or instructions telling you where paint belongs, so we naturally brought it back to our table. Instead of politely explaining the process, the owner yelled at us and snapped, "You're not the only ones here!" Funny thing... we actually were the only customers there. The entire studio feels disorganized, and unfortunately, the owner's people skills are even more scattered. Her manners are almost their own form of comic relief--except no one was laughing. A little kindness, basic organization, and clear signage would go a long way. Pottery is supposed to be a relaxing, creative experience, not one where customers get scolded for not reading signs that don't exist. I won't be back, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a welcoming atmosphere. One star.

They have literally everything that you need - all tools and materials, even gloves and band-aids for those beginner blisters and free water for your studio time. Blacksmithing itself is definitely way harder than I anticipated, but with their help I was able to make my first piece and I'm so proud of it. They offer tons of classes (blacksmithing and other crafts like leatherwork and welding), as well as studio time along with your sessions to come back and practice. I had a little trouble with the heat so I think I'll need to wait until things cool down again to give blacksmithing another try, but I can't wait to come back and try knife-making! FIVE STARS. FIVE FLAMES. FIVE REASONS TO CANCEL YOUR BORING LIFE…read more Let's be clear. Pompano Beach is known for sunshine, ocean breeze, retirees on bicycles... and now apparently, a full-blown cathedral of fire and skill hiding in plain sight. The Guild is not a "cute workshop." It's not Pinterest. It's not "sip and glue." It's heat. Steel. Sparks. Sweat. Focus. This Valentine's Day, I didn't take Julia to dinner. I didn't buy flowers that would wilt faster than a South Florida ice cube. I brought her here. Six hours. Not a tourist demo. Not a 90-minute novelty class. Six hours in front of a forge forging a heart-shaped candle holder with our own hands. Hammer by hammer. Reheat. Adjust. Strike. Repeat. Learning that steel has rules--and if you ignore them, it punishes you. And here's what makes The Guild different: They don't just teach blacksmithing. They teach skills. Real skills. The kind that make your brain fire differently. The kind that remind you you're capable of more than scrolling and complaining about traffic. Under master instruction from real working craftsmen--not influencers, not hobbyists, not YouTube theorists--you feel the weight of competence in the room. Calm. Precise. Zero fluff. This place teaches: * Blacksmithing * Metalwork * Practical craftsmanship * Discipline * Patience * Teamwork * How not to panic when something is literally glowing red In a world built on disposable nonsense, The Guild builds permanence. You leave tired in the best way. You leave with calluses. You leave with something you made that will outlive your streaming subscriptions. And here's the wild part: You find your tribe. The slightly unhinged, joy-filled, skill-hungry humans who think "let's hit hot steel with hammers" is a perfect date night. Five stars isn't enough. This is five roaring forges and a standing ovation. If you're in South Florida and you want more than beaches and brunch-- If you want to actually learn something-- If you want a date night that doesn't involve a waiter explaining foam-- Go to The Guild. Hit the steel. And remember you're not fragile.

I've never been good at drawing or painting, but I didn't have to be! The one annoying thing that I will say is that it was nearly impossible to book our reservation. Not very cool.
