We dropped by for the first time the other night and grabbed some Pho on the go. Wok In, Wok Out is very appropriate for Mi Xao as they serve up their Pho with speed; as well as accuracy. We were in, ordered, and had our order in no time flat. I ordered the London Broil and my wife got the Wonton Pho. We were really surprised when they presented us 2 giant bags full of soup, they don't skimp at all; we could have shared one order. When we got home and opened our containers of pho the sheer essence of the aroma was enough to make us salivate like Pavlov's dog. After assembling our pho soups we were delighted by the taste. The London Broil was just right; with hints of spiciness that awakened the senses. The Wonton Soup was perfect; and probably had some of the best wonton noodles around in it. Un-pho-gettable. That's my new word to describe the experiences I've had at Mi Xao, the newest Vietnamese restaurant to pop up in Mt. Pleasant. I've now been to Mi Xao twice, both times with a friend with whom I've split a couple of entrees. This, dear readers, is the way to attack a menu...or to look like a food hoarder. My first visit included trying the Shrimp pho and the Wonton pho, both of which were over-sized bowls of delicately seasoned broth, vegetables, and meat and complemented with a side of toppings: sprouts, jalapenos, lime wedges, and Thai basil leaves. On a cold and rainy day, a bowl of pho will not only please your belly, but will warm your heart. And mouth, should you choose to squirt 1/2 a cup of Sriracha in it, which is exactly what I recommend you do. Along with our pho, we tried the Spring rolls (served with peanut sauce) and the dumplings. While the former is your typical shrimp & veggies in cellophane wraps, the latter were filled with delicious pork and had a slightly crisp exterior. For my second visit, knowing there was no way I wouldn't try a different bowl of pho, I convinced my friend to split two lunches. We ultimately chose the London Broil Pho and Lemongrass Chicken Stir Fry. The pho did not disappoint, even without the aforementioned "drizzle" of Sriracha I usually add to all my meals. The stir fry was flavorful with a good assortment of vegetables, including those freaky looking baby corns. Seriously, where do those come from? Mini farms? Ha, ha. Bonuses: huge portions, lots of options for vegetarians, and friendly service. Take my word(s) for it, Mi Xao is worth the hike deep into Mt. Pleasant. I am pho real. read more

What a great place for good Vietnamese food! We have been 3 times now and enjoyed different menu items each time. They have nice appetizers like spring rolls, summer rolls and dumplings. For entrees you must try the London broil Pho, it is served hot with a flavorful broth of ginger and cilantro. Today we enjoyed the stir fry dishes, which has multiple choices of a protein and sauce, i loved the geen curry. It's nice to have something different so close to home. This restaurant is a great place for food and drinks. We came here for lunch on The weekend and had a great experience. We had two boys under the age of four with us and sat outside, they were very welcoming, do you order at the bar and they bring you food afterwards. Delicious. Satisfying. Craveable. I have eaten here twice in one week. The London broil pho is to die for, served with rice noodles and a side of sprouts, lime, jalapeño and herbs. Drizzle in hoisin and sriracha and away you go. :) I have also tried the won ton pho and the chicken pho but the beef wins. A friend got the stir fry and was very pleased. The menu allows you to pick sauce, veg then protein to create your own plate. The restaurant is small and mostly take out, most foods come in styro clam shell containers. My first visit was during lunch and the second during dinner. The service is incredible, the employees and owners know customers by name and make sure you are truly enjoying your meal. I had a couple too many pumpkin beers last night, so I needed to shock my system back into coherence with some salty broth and noodles. Heading down 17 I stopped in here before making it into Charleston. I read reviews stating the London Broil pho was to die for, and since I felt like dying, I figured I would give it a go. It was a tasty dish. The meat was nice and tender and the broth was pretty flavorful too. I added some of the fresh basil and a bit of Siracha to set it off. It wasn't too salty and had plenty of noodles. The bowl was huge! I'm guessing it was easily 5 gallons worth of food. A good bowl of pho. I was a little disappointed that my food didn't come out as fast as other people: mine took forever, probably 4 minutes or something. It's only my second time, but I prefer the place in North Charleston slightly over this one. read more

This is a nice cheap restaurant for Vietnamese restaurants. There aren't many Vietnamese restaurants in mt pleasant, but this place is quick, friendly, and good. I got the beef pho, spring rolls(actually friend egg rolls), and beef salad. I like their sauces and salad dressings a lot because they are light and really flavorful. I enjoy their salads a lot too because they have a lot of toppings and taste really fresh. The pho isn't the most authentic tasting pho but it is still pretty good. The only thing I would really work on in this place is better service for stuff like refills, and improving the atmosphere. Absolutely delicious, fresh food. We got the shrimp tom yum, lemongrass chicken, and shrimp papaya salad. Protein was *plentiful* in all of the dishes. Everything was delicious. The portion size was enough to feed the two of us for lunch and dinner (granted we bought three entrees because I'm a fatty). Surprisingly, I would say that the side salad that came with the lemongrass chicken was the surprise black horse of the meal. It was so fresh and herbaceous! There is just something special about the salad dressing that I can't quite put my finger on. This is the 2nd Vietnamese place I have tried since I've been in Charleston. There were some good and not so good points to this place. There are only a few tables inside, so space was limited. Their kitchen was an open layout, so you will see everything they were doing. The front guy was pretty nice and friendly. Being able to talk to him in Vietnamese was a plus. He had a smile on his face when he found out I could speak to him in his native tongue. Their menu was small. There wasn't much to choose from. For the pho, it was either beef or chicken. I ordered the pho bo (London Broil). It came with rectangular noodles and only the tai meat. The broth was really tasty. I can say that it was authentic and flavorful. The noodles, however, weren't. Real pho noodles are round, but these were rectangular. Because they were rectangular, they didn't taste as well. The tai meat was nice and tender. I wish they had more pieces of the cow, but the rest of the pieces wouldn't fair too well with the locals. With every meal, they gave Asian sweet tea, which was nice. I also got to try the spring rolls. They were pre-made. Nothing special to them except that they were small. The rolls, as well as the vegetables they gave came in a togo box that was open instead of a normal plate. As least for the broth, I would come back here for it, but I'll still try other places to find the pho place I like. What I really need to do is start to cook it myself. read more

I love making the arduous trip from the real Mt Pleasant all the way to Rt 41 just to eat some really good Pho at Mi Xao. It's a hole the wall located in a very busy outdoor shopping center but don't let the decor fool you - the food is excellent and it's affordable (two things I like) compared to downtown.
