Pho on the quick! I have been wanting to stop in to this little spot for a while now. They have plenty of other options on the menu as well, but if you need your pho fix in Mt. P., this place fits the bill. I drink unsweet tea all the time and that was the only thing I wasn't a fan of. Way too floral, like drinking perfume... personal taste, you might like it. I ordered some dumplings that were okay. Mainly the Pho ga (chicken) was the shining star. Very fresh ingredients and nice portion of sprouts, cilantro, and sliced jalapeno. The bowl is huge too. No need for sides as my friend and I both were unable to finish our Pho dishes. The service was very friendly and I will definitely be back. This unassuming cafe tucked away in a small shopping center on the corner of Highways 17 and 41 has a strong cult following, but appears to be overlooked nonetheless. While a solid (but unspectacular) Italian restaurant two doors down draws more attention and business, some bigger and bolder flavors are being cooked up at Mi Xao. I wouldn't describe this as straight Vietnamese cuisine, but more Vietnamese-Thai fusion--and the results are delicious. I've been there a few times now, trying the house special stir fry with the house special, yellow coconut curry and the red coconut curry sauces. All are delicious--but of the three, my favorite is the red sauce. It is complex and rich with just the right amount of heat. The veggies are fresh and portions generous. The owners are super warm and friendly, greeting me the second time I ate there like an old acquaintance. Definitely recommended. (4.25 stars). read more

We've been going here since they first opened. Get takeout pretty often. The Pho is rich and delicious, a lot more flavor than some of the other places in town. Summer rolls are excellent, we like getting the green curry stirfry over rice noodles. Pad Thai is delicious, steak and shrimp salads are also very very good. My kiddo had a swim meet at Park West and since it was only about 42 degrees outside when she was finished we were all craving pho. Thanks to great reviews we found this little gem only about a mile away. In short, the positive reviews were spot on and the pho was excellent. We had the London Broil and Tom Yum and they were both bursting with flavor and the right amount of spices. The seating is minimal here so it's not ideal for large groups....however they were very accommodating for our group of 8. They also carry beer and sake which was an added bonus. Best of all, we were pleasantly surprised with all the pho options being under $10. You can get different menus of warm food catered for your party or have Chef Toan cook live in your kitchen. For our annual Christmas Party Chef Toan made a delicious mix of seafood, duck, pork, chicken, vegetarian/vegan various noodles, dumplings fresh in our kitchen. Mi Xao is one of our favorite lunch and takeout spots. They have a wide range of stir fry and noodle options, as well as pho. Their dumplings are really, really good! This is my go to spot lately for a quick takeout lunch or dinner in North Mount Pleasant. The place doesn't look like much but the food is fast, cheap, and good. It's perfect for a quick lunch. My order is ALWAYS ready in under 10 minutes. I call when I'm on my way and it is waiting for me to pick up when I get there. The summer rolls and pork dumplings are tasty apps and exactly what you would get at a more expensive place. I enjoy the Pad Thai. I always order it with extra peanuts on the dish. The curries are also great tasting but in my opinion they doing give enough curry sauce in proportion to the rest of the dish. The London Broil Pho is great. The meat is great texture and thickness and there's plenty of it. I'm so glad I stumbled onto this place. read more

Really really enjoyed the huge bowl of Pho here at Mi Xao. In a very unassuming strip mall of a store you are greeted with smiles and an open kitchen. Walk up, order, and sit. I really love how much food they give you for the price that they give you! It's super affordable great takeout food or come in and try their pho and noodle bowls which are also really good! My wife has hooked me on Vietnamese food because she knows the best Vietnamese food being Vietnamese herself! At first I was a little hesitant about trying anything besides a burger or you know the all American food but I really enjoy this place it's family run as well and they know my order because I order the spiciest food there! My family and i are new to South Carolina, we're Asian and love Asian food so we're trying out all the Asian places this state has to offer considering there's only a handful. Not surprising since there is only 1% Asians here. Well, now back to the review, cute little place with some basic Vietnamese and Thai dishes. We've had everything on this menu most of our lives either homemade or at the restaurants, so we're very familiar with the tastes of each dish. We both ordered the beef pho. It was very basic in presentation and taste. It wasn't bad but we definitely had better. My sister did order one of the Bun dishes to go and she enjoyed that very much. We would go back of we're in the area. We're just excited to see that there are some Asian establishments here and they people are enjoying the dishes. read more

Definitely digging some Mi Xao. There's probably a better way to describe it but I will affectionately refer to it as a hole in the wall...just a handful of tables and no frills. Order at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring the food to your table. This was our first visit - and certainly not our last - and we only tried a few menu items: ph gà, xúp hoành thánh, and of course a heaping plate of hoành thánh. Impressive, right? Whatever. So what you have there is shredded chicken and wanton pho, and a heaping plate of steamed dumplings, respectively. Service was quick. The soup was hot, plentiful and delicious. And the dumplings were homemade and heavenly. Who doesn't love a good dumpling? Next time I'm going to ask if they can amp up the broth - it was tasty but not robust. Know what I'm saying? It was a darn good broth but I'm big on deep, rich, stocks. Maybe I'll get the ph bò on the next go (haha), which translates to the london broil pho, which is served up with a ginger beef broth. I see a take-out order from Mi Xao in our future that includes a ridiculous amount of items that we can sample from and utter yummy noises as we nosh. I've got my eye on a large order of chicken fried rice and probably a double order of the dumplings just to get things started (I don't know about you guys but, at my house, you leave the table for a minute to get a drink and someone plays Houdini with the dumplings and all that's left is a tipped-over dipping sauce container). We'll be hitting that menu hard, leaving no noodle un-slurped. We will be back, probably this weekend, and I will recommend Mi Xao to all. While they do take credit cards, pay in cash and save this local mom-and-pop a few points in transaction fees. Thank you, Mi Xao, for a great lunch. See you soon! read more

Was really looking forward to this place, however I was quite disappointed in their pho. To be fair, they specialize in sautéed noodles (hence their name), which I also tried and it was much better than the pho. Their London Broil pho, they don't use traditional pho rice noodle. Look and texture were more like pad Thai noodles. They didn't soak up any flavor from the broth. Speaking of the broth, I don't believe this to be bone broth. Very little hint of natural fats, and had no complexity in it at all. Unsure why it is called London Broil, as that is a cooking method that involves marinaded beef. The meat definitely was not marinaded... however, the cut is most likely an eye of round or something along those lines (round). Their tofu and rice dish was good. Some of the choices of veggies are funny but the tofu were PERFECTLY fried and seasoned. Very saucy (I prefer less sauce), but it still maintained its "bite". Very good tofu. Stir fry noodle dish was good as well. After all, that's why they named their place after it right?? Owner was extremely nice and sweet. But overall I feel it currently sits at 3 stars, though I understand it's a local favorite based on their high reviews. Some of the short comings were how people who has never been here before is greeted. We didn't know that we grab menus from the front counter, seat ourselves, then head to counter to order and pay, etc. Some guidance would have been helpful. Also, eating in.. having our water refilled is a bit of a inconvenience since we'd have to head to the counter and bother the worker to refill out small cup (I'm guessing it is a 12oz cup). He was very nice about it but still, I hate bothering workers for something so minute. read more
