Some seriously great food here. Don't let the small space fool you there's plenty of room inside to eat. They also do take-out. Nothing beats are hot bowl of Pho on a cold day. They also have outdoor seating if you want to bring your pet along. Can't get much better than this place. read more

Mi Xao is absolutely fantastic - their jasmine sweet tea is out of this world! I have had their London broil pho and the wonton soup - both are delicious. I live in Park West so it is very convenient to pick up take-out. I would love to try some of their other dishes as well, but love the wonton soup so much that I have a hard time ordering something new! This place is definitely a must-try for Mt. My girlfriend and I recently returned to the USA after living in Hanoi. I formed an addiction to Vietnamese food while living overseas and have been consistently disappointed by the lack of authenticity of Vietnamese restaurants in the southeast. That is, until my first visit to Mi Xao. The pho bo is absolutely perfect, it truly makes me feel like I'm back in Vietnam. The owner, Toan, is a gentleman and is always incredibly friendly to us every time we come by. Mi Xao has become my favorite restaurant over the last few months and has been a huge help for me personally transitioning back to life in the USA! Forgot my wallet at home when I went to pick up my takeout order. The man who rang me up offered to let me take my food home, eat it and come back to pay later! I thought this was such a nice gesture.. ended up finding a cc in my car so didn't have to do that, but it was so nice of him to offer that. Had the spring rolls, pork dumplings, and london broil pho. Spring rolls & pho were DELICIOUS!! The beef broth was so fresh and flavorful, meat was thin and tender. Don't come here unless you want to be treated like trash!! The Vietnamese woman is extremely rude we come here because their soup is very good but I get upset every time we come because of how poorly we are treated. I even tip them when they are not a full service restaurant you go up and order and have to get everything yourself except the they bring your food to the table. They should decide if they want to be a full service restaurant if they want a full 20% tip. They are very rude when you ask for water when it's spicy food and then don't fill the cup all the way. She kept making faces at us and stared us down when we got a Togo box and made us very uncomfortable. I'm pretty much done coming here and giving them my money after how we were treated today. read more

It is a cute take out place with a small dinning area. We enjoyed our Pho. It is not the most traditional Pho but still very tasty. My one year old son liked the shredded chicken Pho. It was the first meal he eagerly ate since we arrived in Charleston 4 days ago despite we have dined at several well known restaurants downtown . Had the London broil soup twice and liked it. It is a huge bowl with lots of broth and glass noodles and an Ok amount of beef. Ordered the beef tips another time and took it home and was not that thrilled. Not sure it is priced all appropriately but may try other dishes since live just around the corner. read more

Undoubtedly the most authentic Viet food in Charleston. The owner is apparently from Saigon, and it shows. If you've never had Pho in Viet Nam, here is a good place to find out what it's really like. Atmosphere is slightly lacking, but I personally would trade that any day for food of this quality. Also great Asian beer selection--Chang and Tiger included. read more

Have only had take-out pho once from here and was thoroughly impressed! Great portions for cheap prices! Very giving with their product, soup was flavorful and rice noodles were provided separately to avoid mushiness. The food here is sooo good . Made to order with fresh ingredients . I just may have found the best food in Charleston . My hope is they will expand the menu and have more to offer . It's not expensive and you can eat there or take out . The staff / owners are super friendly and will explain the menu . They want you to enjoy the food and the experience . I am a Afro-American male from Philadelphia, PA and have eaten Vietnamese food all over the county for forty years. The Pho was very tasty, my wife had roast pork salad and said it was very good. It was the first we were served by non-Vietnamese waiters. We have two complaints; the condiments for the Pho and hot tea were served in styrofoam containers and I was told by the owners wife to order our food at the cashier and pay for it and we would be served. While waiting for our food a group of non- Afro-Americans came in and sat down ordered their food from a waiter, were served and paid for it when they were finished. The best Vietnamese food we've ever had! We're from NJ and we've had a ton! Wish we didn't have to go back north so we could return over and over. Anh Toan Ho, chef and owner, treated us like we were old friends. The tom yum kung pho is delicious as well as the mi xao. We ordered the mi xao with egg noodles, shrimp, and coconut curry. Pho crazed idiot here to review Mi Xao. Most great pho places have that unmistakeable smell that hits you like a ton of bricks when you walk in. This place does not offer that. Maybe it's there massive hood system or maybe not I don't know. I do know the broth makes or breaks a pho place. The best places typically have clear and golden broth as opposed to brown and cloudy. Mi Xao offers the latter but it's still tasty. It's more salty/beefy as opposed to beefy/kinda sweet with star anise shining through. I think the star anise mixed with beef is the smell that I'm addicted to. Anyway, it's a good place but it's not high on my list of pho joints. There is only one cut of beef offered which is a big let down. No traditional meatball or my favorite fatty brisket which I think is called Gao...maybe?The veggies are on point but doesn't really help with the broth. My best guess is they need golden rock sugar and star anise to kick it in gear. Overall it's worth a try but it's not great. -Eskimo. read more

What a treasure for the Mt. Pleasant area. Looks like a great take out spot with a few (6) dining tables. We ate in and no problems at all. Owner seems to be out and about and is interested in your reactions . The green Papaya salad was as good as any I have tasted in the USA and very fresh A stir fry selection was very tasty but maybe not so much Vietnamese. We are visiting the area and I wish we had this restaurant close to us. If you like Vietnamese you will not be disappointed. read more

Mi Xao is still good, but the owner doesn't appear to be there most of the time anymore. This has resulted in the service being much worse. A young girl runs the counter most of the time now and often has a bad attitude with guests. Still pretty good pho, but the atmosphere is not as nice. read more
