I went out with a party of five for a birthday. I loved the music and ambience which showed beautiful Mexican culture. There was a dance floor and mariachi playing for us which was nice. Really good for parties! The food was a bit pricey but overall had good portions for what it's worth. The service was okay although the server had forgot one of our drinks. Came here with my family for my father's birthday party. The food was delicious. The restaurant is very big and they have some nice spots to take some really cool photos. The service was great. The servers came out with a tray of pastry's that said happy birthday and had two sparklers on the sides. They sang happy birthday and they also had Mariachi's that day. read more

I mean I do recommend it but it's a bit pricey. Nonetheless, it's still worth it when it comes to celebrating milestones. We came to celebrate my boss and her retirement. And it didn't disappoint. The service was of course amazing, and they were so attentive. That is something that I can appreciate. THe waitress we were assigned was so attentive and although her english was a little bit broken, it was fine as she understood exactly what we wanted and the reason we were there, this gave her ample ammo to get a little celebration with the others to surprise my boss with a nice serenada. Includng giving her a Mexican hat to wear and as a keepsake. Its those little details that mean so much. To start we had to let her know that we had around 16 people here, and that it would have to be a way to split the checks. Her suggestion was to split the tables into 4 parties, and it would make it easier. Of course, in the end it worked out perfectly and everyone was happy and content. The appetizers were amazing, and the quac was exactly what we needed to start off this amazing night. A few cocktails later and everyone was happy! The cocktails are seriously good and again a little pricey but for what you get, its totally worth it. Food also didn't disappoint at all. Extremely fresh and if you are Latin, and have been to my grannies house back in the day, this is close to her home cooking as you can get! Don't play with me! Been wanting to check Mi Tierra out for a while. The exterior is very attractive and welcoming. We decided to come here before the Mexican Independence Day parade, and was really shocked to see this place pretty empty on a such a big day. We were able to get seated right away, they brought us chips and salsa at the beginning, but it took forever to get our order in. They kept going back and forth to certain tables while we were being ignored. No bueno...I did figure out towards the end why they were giving special attention to those certain tables. They were local positions. In a way I kind of understand. They were going to part of the parade, and obviously had to get them going, but you should be able to figure out how to take care of the regular customers as well. Some restaurants close the business for bigger events like this, I would definitely recommend going that route for them next time. Fortunately for them, the food was really good. The chips and salsa were really tasty. The salsa tasted freshly made and had really good flavor. I ordered their chilaquiles verdes and my wife ordered their chilaquiles w/ ranchera sauce. The dishes came out very quickly but they brought out two chilaquiles verdes. So we retuned one and had to wait a tad bit longer for the ranchera chilaquiles to be made. Turns out they use the same salsa that's used for the chips and salsa for their ranchera chilaquiles. They were both still pretty delicious. It came with fried eggs, and refried beans. The chilaquiles were crispy and topped with cilantro and sour cream. Overall I had a mediocre experience and I'm not exactly sure if I'd ever return. There's plenty of options on the 26th and surround area that I'd rather go back to before choosing this place again. read more

Stopped here with some friends after having spent all day going through death by power point. My friends don't typically eat Mexican food but since we were working in Little Village, they asked me to find a restaurant nearby. We ended up here by mistake because my GPS sent me in the wrong direction as to the restaurant we had selected. I saw the place and pulled right in. The place is huge!! I would not be surprised if they sit over 300. While we were there, I would guess that there was a steady flow of people with about 25 - 35 people eating. Service was good. The waitress attempted to speak English and my friend's worked on their Spanish. We ordered drinks and everyone was happy with what they ordered. They brought out chips and salsa and the waitress made sure to help us with a food allergy (tomatoes) by bringing out a salsa without tomatoes. One of my friends ordered the Mexican corn. I personally was not a fan but in general I am not a fan of Mexican corn. My friends loved it. As far as main meal two of us ordered the skirt steak and one order the shrimp fajitas. I ordered my steak medium rare while my friend ordered his medium well. After a few more drinks the food was served, and everyone thought the food was delicious. According to my friend the shrimp fajitas were seasoned and fresh. I do recommend that if you order the steak ask for medium rare. The portion size was appropriate. The cost was a little pricy but everywhere you go prices are high. I say this because I recently took by daughter to breakfast where I had pancakes and she had huevos ranchero and I left paying over $50. With a generous tip we left paying about $240. Mi Tierra looks nice and clean, however the service is very slow. They brought chips out twice before even asking us what drinks we wanted. By the time we got our food, we had finished our drinks and two batches of chips. It would be worth it if the food was great after waiting, but it was flavorless. I got the cecina jalisco which did not have any flavor although it was cooked to perfection. The tortillas were also cold and clearly weren't microwaved long enough as they were falling apart. Waited another 40 to get our bill and we had to track them down to get their attention. I would not recommend. read more

The reason for the 3 stars is the HORRIBLE service. We went on a Saturday around 11am. When we got there we told the waitress we needed a high chair. After 20 minutes of just sitting there and holding a baby, a waitress finally came over. We placed our order for drinks and food and also reminded her that we needed a high chair. After the food came out, we didn't see a waitress again. No one came over to see how we were doing or if we needed something. We had to waive the waitress down to get the check. We came to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday and our visit here ruined her birthday. Our server never came to atte d to us. The food was cold, hard rice and didn't even bring is water. We have been here before and today's experience at your restaurant was very disappointing. He only removed the tip and did not have the professionalism and customer service skills to offer us a discount or an apology. This situation was unacceptable. Mi Tierra was a blast!! The food was incredible. I got the Fajitas Mi Tierra man was it good, it had tons of flavor and spice. My drink was the only mute point, it was a mangonada margarita and it wasn't spicy... yes I said it, it wasn't spicy at all haha it needed more chamoy and tajin to really take it to an authentic place. The dining room was awesome though, it was like a nightclub mixed with a traditional Mexican restaurant and had so much to look at. People were dancing and laughing, it was a place full of joy. The servers were so kind to us, the food and drinks for 4 people came out to our table pretty darn quick too I was impressed. We even had someone take our pictures and got them printed and made into keychains right there!! My mind was blown!! We ordered a guacamole that was not fresh tasting and bland. Then we got the parrillada for two, surf and turf...disappointing. The pork was dry, hardly any asada, one of the two pieces of rib was mostly fat, the shrimp did not even look like they had been on the grill & were bland; the chicken was the only ok item. The menu prices for Mexican food were ridiculous ($19.99 for a taco dinner!!!!!!) . Then there was the Mariachi music..super loud because they were paired with speaker's throughout the restaurant to the point that we couldn't even hold a conversation!!! Not everyone needs to be exposed to this loudness! The wait staff were ok, no complaints there. There are way better options for Mexican food, at reasonable prices, even on 26th street...don't waste your money on this place. read more

What happened? This place was awesome at one point. The prices are sky high and the food is mediocre. My seafood dish was smothered in Alfredo sauce. Not to mention they put all my seafood on a huge bed of rice making the dish look huge($70). They served crab legs w/no shell crackers. My seafood appetizer was $30(smothered with rice). The one steak taco I ordered was flavorless containing mainly fatty pieces. Also, the waitress took 15 min just to bring our water and two beers. (Restaurant was not even busy) read more

I have come to patron this establishment a few times and usually have had a great experience. However, I came recently and didn't enjoy my food. When I consulted with my waitress, she went to grab the manager. The manager, or general manager as he claimed, expressed that my reasoning for not liking my food was not a valid reason because other customers don't complain about the same item. Not once was there any regard for what I was saying or how this impacted my dining experience. I am big on customer service and the lack of it today will certainly be my last time dining here, ever. We went there for their breakfast/lunch specials which are M-F and end at 3pm. The selection and food and portion are great for the price. The ambiance is great and it's not as loud as dinner time -during dinner music is too loud you can't even hear the person across from you talk. Anyhow for the lunch time, it is their SERVICe that was extremely poor, at least with a specific waiter we have had for a second time. We went at noon and specifically told him that we were ordering from lunch special menus ($12 a plate). In summary he charged us full price $26 a plate and when I asked him to correct he said he couldn't do anything about it, that lunch ended at 12 and that the portions we got were regular plates (which they were not). When I asked to speak to a manager he said there weren't any at that time -it was busy because there were a lot of students and it was 5 de Mayo too, etc. I was supposed to get reimbursed $33 dollars but he only gave me $26 claiming he was doing it from his own money -I found that weird. We had previously gotten him as our waiter back in the fall and that one time he gave us a hard time about the menu too. If we go here again clearly we will ensure that we are not seated where he serves. I just wonder how many more people is he doing that to. read more

What do you need for a birthday celebration with a group of 14: a live Mariachi band, a sombrero for the birthday girl, and several pitchers of margarita. We made a reservation for Friday night at 6:30 PM for a party of 14. In order to be seated, we needed 10 people to be punctual. Fair game. We started off with three pitchers of margarita: strawberry, pina colada, and mango. They were very flavorful but at the same time, leaning towards the weaker side. As for food, we shared the botana sabrosura, parrillada le lujo, and parrillada de carnes. I will happily put that in English for you. The botana sabrosura is an appetizer platter with a mix of quesadilla, calamari, and flautas with a huge scoop of sour cream and guacamole in the center. The two parrilladas are meant for sharing. You have the options of choosing which family size you would like. Our side of the table had the two-people serving size for carnes which consisted of steak, chicken, and pork. We also had the four-people serving size for the le lujo which has tilapia, clams, mussels, shrimp, and calamari. My verdict is we should have switched the two serving sizes. Although I really like the rice that was sitting beneath the seafood as it absorbed most of the juices and sauces, but I must say the red meat were much more flavorful. The seafood was bland and I wished there was a sauce that we could dip them in. Service was exceptional. I was the host of the dinner and the server would constantly check with me to see if everything was going smoothly. The server would also notify me when the other dinner participants were adding extra drinks to the bill. It was very kind and considerate gesture. read more

They charge 15$ for tequila and another 5$ for the squirt to make a paloma. My bill at Lalos for the same dinner and tip is 120$. Big time rip off read more
