I recommend you come here for the seafood and nothing else. If you all you want to eat is tacos or tortas I recommend you go elsewhere because this is the place for good seafood! My sister and dad ordered the caldo de 7 mares. I ordered the camarón & pulpo enchipotleado....it is spicy! But I love spicy and it was sooooo good. Also your order comes with either a side of bread or tortillas. The bread is a bolillo toasted and buttered. The tortillas were not that great and were a little hard. We also tried the tostada de ceviche de pescado. It was very tasty. Paid street parking can be found but it's not as pricey as in the city. Very nice friendly staff. I will definitely be coming back when in the neighborhood.

Food and drinks here are top notch. If you're new to mariscos definitely go for the coctel de camaron, I got the small and it was a decent amount of food. Their micheladas will bring you back to life and are good for anytime of the day. One of these days I really want to have the caguama sized one but the regular sized one is big enough to be shared. Portions are very fair and service is super friendly.

Just went today with my husband and son. We are always picky with seafood places. Our 2 go to favorite seafood spots are far from each other and this one was right in between. We LOVED it! We first ordered micheladas (which we are picky about those too) and I had mine with cerveza Pacifico and my husband with Negra Modelo. We enjoyed them. The michelada mix was not overpowering at all. They were actually really smooth drinks. We then ordered the Pico de Gallo Jarocho as an appetizer which consists of shrimp, crab, octopus and fish in a Pico de Gallo and it was soooooo good. I ordered the Shrimp and Crab soup which had so much flavor and it was really hot. I made it very spicy with Habanero salsa. My son had a Torta de Asada. It was good but it wasn't' seafood. My husband ordered the Piña Rellena (Stuffed) and he said he loved the flavors. We give it a 10 out of 10 even though they only had 2 waiters and the place was practically full but we didn't mind. The prices of our dishes were actually cheaper than the other 2 spots we go too. I would love to go again.

Food is delish. My husband and I love it here. Great micheladas too! Slightly understaffed, but worth the wait.

I would like to have a late lunch here with my Mexican girl friend coming from southern California and I want to treat her to authentic food what's the best on the menu and how are the margaritas?

They are supposed to be known for oysters. Better Margaritas across down the street at Don Pepe's.

Every single time I drove passed I looked at it, wondering what its prices and food were like. The preparation for an initial visit came prior to headed to Lawndale Christian Fitness Center because the restaurant sits enroute back to my apartment in the neighboring neighborhood. And with the restaurant being a bookmark of mine for nearly a year I figured it was time to finally visit. Now, the parking lot is shared at this restaurant, but it has well enough parking spots available on any part of Lawndale Plaza, the property where it sits. The interior of this restaurant made me think of a fish dock the way it is decorated with its painted, old, run down wooden wall and door appearance. Totally in sync with a name like Fisherman's Island. Now, other than its decorative - fish dock style interior, this restaurant has the bullet proof window shielding the employee which is not just this restaurant, but its neighboring restaurants, too. That alone gives me an idea of what kind of customers these restaurants serve. I got a chance to see a little bit of that firsthand because during my visit, one of the customers tried to steal a bottle of water then showed attitude once she was caught in the act. Another customer even went to the point of questioning the employee on why she was charged extra which most likely was tax, as we all are charged. After contemplating between either the tilapia, the catfish, and the whiting I ordered the tilapia which the sizes come in either 1/2 pound or 1 pound. Once I ordered I noted that all platters come with 3 sides: broccoli, corn and potatoes which is not that bad of a meal for its price listed. I did love that they wrapped my order inside of saran wrap which prevented any leakage. But once I opened it up, it was pure heaven because it smelt lovely! Ah, the wonderful smell of seasoned tilapia combined with broccoli. Waiting on my order I noted that most customers pre-ordered which I imagine eliminates the possibility of a long wait which really wasn't that bad for me. My food actually was completed in a appropriate time frame, but ordering again I would probably pre-order being that I live a little over one mile away. Pre-ordering would eliminate me from having to sit on that window sill again because my ass was hurting during my wait. The only thing in the dining area was a shelf stocked with canned goods, a cooler with drinks, and a trash receptacle for whatever known reason. With that I observed, it is obviously a takeout restaurant which probably stems from past incidents with customers and reason why that bullet proof window is plastered up shielding the employee. I'm just going to end it right here and say look no further if you are browsing through other reviews because this review is all you need to see. Other than my ass hurting from sitting on that window sill, I have no complaints about the overall service. I enjoyed the food and would gladly order from Fisherman's Island again; possibly regularly. If I knew how much I missed I would have visited a lot sooner, but better now than never. Wouldn't you agree? ~Blessings~ Thomas G

What we ordered: * Seafood Trio - 10/10. Spicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. * Lamb Chops- 100/10- juicy, tender and flavorful * Shrimp Cognac - 9/10. Fantastic flavor; I just wish there had been a little more shrimp. * Crab Egg Rolls - 10/10. A must-order. * Butter Cake - 100/10. Easily the star of the night. * MLK - 10/10. The service was wonderful. They do include a 20% gratuity, which is clearly disclosed, and our waitress explained that it is shared among the team. Any additional tip goes directly to the server. I appreciated her honesty and transparency, and she absolutely deserved extra. We had reservations for 5:30 PM, but you could tell that between 6:00 and 8:00 PM this place really comes alive. By the time we were leaving, there was a huge line forming outside. People were dressed like they were heading to a club, and for good reason--there's a speakeasy downstairs that adds to the experience. From the Southern-inspired flavors to the stylish, swaggish ambiance, this place is a hit. I highly recommend giving this establishment a try. We'll definitely be back.

Taco de Camarones (Happy Hour Special and Bomb AF). Bursting with flavor, without bursting your wallet. I should have ordered more, but decided to try the Brandade Dorados. Considering I'm pretty basic with my mariscos (Taco de Pescado, Taco de Camaron, and Ceviche), this didn't disappoint my palette. Lot's of elements to this dish that create a memorable experience, even for a pollo/carne guy like myself. Salsa verde, Pico de gallo, lots of limon, and blue corn tortillas got the job done, followed by Flan to provide the master stroke. FYI: it's not a basic flan. Try it. You'll like it. Beverages: 4/5. San Pedro Margarita. Monopolio Lager Clara. Both refreshing and both a perfect blend to the meal. Get there early to take advantage of Happy Hour pricing. Service: 5/5. The entire staff was warm, friendly, and energetic. Big shout out to Yetzi for her service excellence! She offered great recommendations and made me feel like I wasn't a tourist. Also big shout out to the gentleman who bused the table. Y'all have a great team and I look forward to returning on the next trip to Chi-City. Ambiance: 5/5. Stylish, urbane, local vibe--and not touristy (except me). Great change from Magnificent Mile. You can tell it's a popular place and you'll see why when you eat here. Cumbias on lock (Los Angeles Azules, Sonora Dynamita, etc...) Buen provecho.
