Mariscos San Pedro was recommended by a longtime Chicago resident and it didn't disappoint. As a SoCal native and longtime L.A. resident, I was excited to explore Pilsen, the Mexican American neighborhood in Chicago. San Pedro was only a 20 minute walk from the National Museum of Mexican Art, so I was able to check out all the beautiful street murals during my stroll. Cuisine: 5/5. Taco de Camarones (Happy Hour Special and Bomb AF). Bursting with flavor, without bursting your wallet. I should have ordered more, but decided to try the Brandade Dorados. Considering I'm pretty basic with my mariscos (Taco de Pescado, Taco de Camaron, and Ceviche), this didn't disappoint my palette. Lot's of elements to this dish that create a memorable experience, even for a pollo/carne guy like myself. Salsa verde, Pico de gallo, lots of limon, and blue corn tortillas got the job done, followed by Flan to provide the master stroke. FYI: it's not a basic flan. Try it. You'll like it. Beverages: 4/5. San Pedro Margarita. Monopolio Lager Clara. Both refreshing and both a perfect blend to the meal. Get there early to take advantage of Happy Hour pricing. Service: 5/5. The entire staff was warm, friendly, and energetic. Big shout out to Yetzi for her service excellence! She offered great recommendations and made me feel like I wasn't a tourist. Also big shout out to the gentleman who bused the table. Y'all have a great team and I look forward to returning on the next trip to Chi-City. Ambiance: 5/5. Stylish, urbane, local vibe--and not touristy (except me). Great change from Magnificent Mile. You can tell it's a popular place and you'll see why when you eat here. Cumbias on lock (Los Angeles Azules, Sonora Dynamita, etc...) Buen provecho.

We really enjoyed the food. The corn bread was super delicious and we absolutely loved the tuna tostada. I felt like the crab Rangoon empanadas were skippable as they didn't have enough filling for the bready exterior. For the main, we got the mussels and the sauce is super flavorful and yummy. The service was a bit slow, but it's possible that it was just a busy night when we went. Drinks are normal, nothing out of the ordinary but tasty.

Tried their brunch and it was top notch! The breakfast empanada tops the list of best empanadas, and best breakfast items I've ever enjoyed. Only to be rivaled in deliciousness by the pan de elote. The surf and turf chilaquiles also held their own, though beware the spice is real! Another highlight, the classic breakfast and the bacon wrapped octopus. Clearly, we just could not stop ordering. The service was very friendly and super attentive. If you're building a short list of brunch spots you must visit while in Chicago, make sure this is on there, you'll thank me later!

This place is super cute! The service was great, however when we ordered we asked them to stagger things out since we wanted to try a lot and we had a small table. They brought everything out almost all at once which isn't a huge deal but makes things feel messy especially when you're trying to have a nice dinner. Onto the food... the oysters and the tuna tostada were great, and why I chose to come try this spot. The scallop ceviche was pretty bland and the empanadas were very sweet for some reason. I did however lose my appetite when I bit into one of the shrimp and it immediately turned to mush. I understand things happen but after that bite I wasn't in the mood to eat anything else.

First time here and let me say their torre de mariscos paired with their house margaritas is exactly what you need for a complete Chicago summer! Achiote butter oysters were tasty! Also ordered their chipotle braised short rib and the tenderness did not disappoint, however I feel like compared to the rest of the dishes it was not as flavorful. Their pan de elote was good but a bit too salty for my taste. Overall service was great and presentation was everything! Good spot for date night!

I've heard raving reviews about this spot, so this restaurant has been on my list for awhile! Snagging a weekday evening reservation was fairly easy (it wasn't busy at all), and the service and ambiance is nice. Now this is based on what I got. I didn't get any of the marketplace priced items (whole fish dishes etc) so those could be where this spot shines. They do have an extensive ceviche list; i tried the scallop ceviche which was mediocre honestly (recommend getting another one). I also got the torched oysters with the spicy butter, which was my favorite thing. Also got the taco sampler, and honestly the only good taco was the battered cod one (the other two were not great IMO). My friend got the surf and turf platter, which didn't really come with much surf (shrimp) or turf (steak) for the price. Overall l, it's okay but seemed to be more overhyped than anything

First, when we walked the hostess was cold and unfriendly so my expectations were low from that vibe. Then we met our waitress-- Mali, a breath of fresh air. She was the perfect server and you can just tell she loves her job and takes pride. She knew the menu well, explained it all nicely and all her suggestions were spot on. I was asking a lot of questions and she was patient and if she didn't know the answer she went to find the answer. Over all the our waitress made our experience extra special, thank you Mali. Now you the food-- y'all!!! The food was fantastic and so flavorful. Every dish was different and delicious, not one complaint. We ate: Eel tostada -- this was our favorite, I could of eaten 3 of these. It was so good and the flavors were each unique. Korean fried cobia collar- this was a lot of food! Another great dish; bone in fish fried to perfection with delicious sides Soft shell crab taco- fire!! I've never had a taco like this and we were blown away. Granizado dessert- I was emotional eating this because of how good it was this dessert has so much layers to it, every bite was a piece of heaven. I would of gotten another one if I wasn't so full. The N/A bloody Mary was excellent as well! This dining experience was really amazing and we can't wait to return.

Elevated Mexican seafood restaurant perfect for a date night or a cute experience with friends! We were immediately captivated by the bold and fun colors on the wall and the menu. They were a James Beard semi finalist in 2025 and named one of the best restaurants in Chicago, and the top best new restaurant of 2024. Ofc course I had to come try! For two ppl, we shared three dishes and had leftovers!! The coctel was a ceviche with shrimp, octopus, mussels, and avocado. I loved how fresh every ingredient tasted, the octopus was just the right amount of chew, and the shrimp were large and plump. Superrr refreshing dish served with two tostadas. We also got the tuna tostadas which comes with black garlic, salsa macha, and avocado! This is their most popular dish, but I found it a bit salty. Tasted a bit like chili oil with tuna, which is an interesting combo with the Asian flare. Finished with the mussels and fries - WOW!! What a GENEROUS portion!! Granted it was $32... but it came with a big bowl of shoestring fried and whole piece of french bread, and at least 30-40 mussels. The sauce was this creamy chipotle lime that was so drinkable and delish! Service is great, and the busser was sooooo adorable I wanted to give that guy a big hug!

I'm not sure what it is with this particular address and its slow service. Last time we were in this building was when Duseks was still here and we experience extremely slow service that day. This time around, we decided to come for brunch on a Sunday, and experienced the same damn thing. Slow service. The food was good though. I ordered their Cali Burrito, my wife ordered their Blue Corn Tlacoyo, me and my son shared their Baja Fish Tacos and my daughter ordered their pancakes. We did ask for everything to be brought out together but they decided to ignore that and brought my burrito about 10 minutes before everyone else's dish. Not wanting the my burrito to get cold, I ate about half the burrito before the rest of the dishes came out. The pancakes are good and my wife's Tlacoyo was delicious. It came with a fried egg, black beans, crema and salsa. The Cali Burrito came with marinated steak & shrimp, fries, pico de gallo, avocado, and aioli all inside the burrito. Yes it could have used more steak in there, but overall a very delicious burrito. The Baja Fish Tacos were also good. The fish was fried perfectly, the aioli was good, but would have preferred a wetter slaw with the pickled onions and a chipotle red sauce to go along with the aioli. That's my preference and that's how they serve it in Ensenada, Mexico. We will definitely be returning.

Mariscos San Pedro is a place I thought only existed in my imagination...A fresh seafood taco spot that goes above and beyond freshness but well thought through flavors, dishes and a theme that flows so easily. All the highlighted dishes are worth every bite and as an added bonus you have a fun bar downstairs called the punchhouse and a classic theater upstairs in Thalia Hall so you never have to leave.

Well hello, Mariscos San Pedro, and welcome to my "Best Meal Ever" list lol. I've been to Thalia Hall so many times and I'm embarrassed I never noticed this gem next door. Everything we ate was made with such an original point of view. The Octopus Sonoran dog was amazing, the lobster quesabirria taco was tender and flavorful, the elotes galette was flaky and seasoned perfectly, and the "masa-ron" dessert was the most unique dessert I've seen in a very long time. This place was hopping on a Thursday evening and the waitress didn't miss a beat. I HAVE to come back here and you should too!

TLDR: GET THE MUSSELS!! Great food at great prices! Came here on a Friday night after a couple of cocktails at our favorite cocktail bar, The Alderman, and it did not disappoint! Everything we ordered tasted fresh! We got the oysters, Hokkaido Scallops, Tuna Tostada, Mussels & Fries, and fried collar (it was on the chef's special menu). I think we might've gotten a couple more things but we ate it before we took pictures so I can't remember lol. Honestly, there wasn't a single item that we didn't like! Literally, everything we ate was FANTASTIC. Especially the spicy mussels! It comes out in a giant pot, FYI. I was not prepared for how big this dish was. We ordered it at the very end, thinking it'll be a nice way to end our meal... which it was, but it could've fed a small family. It packs just the right amount of heat, and the fries and bread are a match made in heaven with this dish! I can see why our server eats this every day. Until now, Franklin Room's Spicy Miso Mussels were my favorite, but now I'm not sure... We'll definitely be back to try their Omakase menu!

It was no wonder when we arrived that there was a line out the door. We waited around 45 minutes, and the bouncer was a really nice fellow who kept track of the numbers and people at the door. Upon entering, we were immersed in a dimly lit retro-style lounge. It was quite loud inside and packed as we walked to our seats. The server was great at taking our orders and offering suggestions. I opted for the French 75, which featured sparkling wine and mixed gin, brandies, and citrus. The drink was delicious, but STRONG. I don't know what they put in the cocktails in America, but I am always finished after one drink. Needless to say, we were all struggling to finish our own drinks. My favourite touch was the coasters, I ended up keeping all of them so that I can reuse them at my galentines event next year. The 'bisous' with the kiss on the other side is a perfect touch! I think the drinks are fairly priced for USD. I would love to return someday to try other drinks and bar bites, and also try their sister bar, Sparrow.

Imagine my shock when we didn't even make it past the bouncer because he was so rude, AS OTHER RECENT REVIEWS HAVE MENTIONED AS WELL! We had dinner nearby and walked to Bisous after, and saw there was a line of 5 or 6 people outside. We expected this as we knew Bisous is a first come, first serve bar. We were curious what the wait time would look like, so we approached the front door to ask a host or employee inside (we assumed there'd be a desk with an employee working it who could give us a wait time). We had no problem waiting, just wanted to see how long they estimated it would be! Before we could even fully open the door, the bouncer swung the door open from the other side and hit me with the door. I stumbled back a few steps and he looked at us and said, and I quote, "What do you want?". I laughed at first because I thought he was joking and putting on a tough guy act. He was not. We quickly explained we just wanted to see what the wait time was, and he said "don't you see there's a line outside?" We said yes, and explained we just wanted to know a rough estimated wait time. He just blankly stared at us while ushering us out. Both my boyfriend and I have worked in customer-service roles for a very, very long time. This encounter was not only extremely rude and unprofessional, but he also hit me hard enough with the door to send me stumbling back, and then said nothing about it and continued to address us in a tone that was nothing less than annoyed and irritated. We didn't end up going inside because that encounter left such a bad taste in our mouths. I don't believe in spending my money at establishments that don't treat their customers with the bare minimum respect they deserve! Bummed we didn't get to experience it, as I'm sure it was lovely inside and I can only hope the rest of the employees were much more kind and accommodating, or at least able to answer a simple question. Fire your "bouncer" (??) and hire someone with some basic customer service and communication skills!!

We made a reservation ahead of time, which I'd definitely recommend, but it wasn't overly packed and we were seated without any issues. The vibe in there is top tier. This was my second time here and I remember it being just as good back in 2022. The drinks were immaculate. I had two mocktails that were both well-balanced (not overly sweet, which I appreciate), and he ordered an old fashioned. People were standing right behind me to order drinks; I didn't feel overly crowded by any means but some who aren't used to that kind of bar/clubby vibe might feel that way. The music was a little loud to be heard over all the folks there, but I wasn't talking to anyone so it didn't bother me (was just sitting and reading a book). The bartender was really nice and attentive despite the fact that the place was so packed. I had a drink called the "Gentle Fish" which the bartender rec'd as a sweeter/more floral drink. Admittedly it was a little strong, but the flavor was nice! It was different from most other drinks I've had, and I enjoyed it. Was strong enough I definitely did not need another though. Of note, this place is downstairs under "The Hoxton" hotel, there's no entrance directly to the bar from the sidewalk/street (you have to enter the hotel lobby, then follow the signs toward the back and go down the elevator and/or stairs). There is a person who checks your ID when you enter and seats you if seats are available. The bathrooms were very clean. Not sure about parking but street parking is definitely very limited; I imagine a paid lot would probably be the easiest thing or taking the train from wherever you're staying if you can (which is what I did).

The vibe is speakeasy-ish; the entrance is off the street in an alleyway but the interior is very nice, low light, and would be fun for a date night! The staff were attentive and very friendly. My friend got some shots, which were surprisingly good given they were kind of sweet, and I ordered the "mystic lamp" cocktail ($16) which was VERY memorable to me as someone that loves floral drinks -- it was very floral, slightly fruity, and had a lovely chunk of lychee it came with which was delicious! The drink was decent sized too; I've been charged a lot more for much less drink at other speakeasies (those of which I don't plan to visit again any time soon haha). In my opinion, this spot has the perfect combo of great drinks, nice ambiance, cool speakeasy-vibes, but also cheerfulness given the tiki-theme inside. I was excited for the experience having heard how busy it gets, blah blah. These positive reviewers need to seek out other tiki bars. After you negotiate the alley entrance and go down dangerously dark stairs, you are met with crazy boring decor. I kept thinking there had to be more right? The whole point of a tiki bar is to strike a mood, but hanging a very few polynesian masks on the wall, putting up a grass facade over the bar and dressing the servers in vaguely polynesian outfits is sad. I've seen private tiki bars at people's homes that are more exciting. Add to this a comparably boring music selection played far too loud over boomy lo-fi speakers and you'll wonder what's going on here. So what about the food and drink? Completely uninspired for anyone who's had more than a mai tai before in their life. About a dozen extremely common drink choices is all you get!! No specials, that's it. When I asked if this was the whole cocktail menu, the server said it was but they have a full bar so you can get anything you want. Well, I could get that service at just about any bar in the world, so big deal. Maybe it would be better if you sat at the bar and chatted up the bartender. One could also go taste their rum selections and other cocktails in the Bamboo Room, but I hate that kind of elitist nonsense. That's never been what tiki bars were about. The drinks we sampled were okay at best. Even the namesake 3 Dots and A Dash cocktail was lackluster and used cheap cherries for the dots instead of classic Luxardos. (If you know, you know) The appetizers were okay, but way overpriced. 5 tiny spring rolls for $18. Come on guys, enough already. I'd rather go to the bar at the Polynesian Hotel at Disney than return here. This place is a hard pass.
