This was my first time finally checking out Mi Tea since it opened, and the menu offerings for its drinks were very different than what I expected from other bubble tea places around such as Gong Cha, Kung Fu and Cafe Zio. Most of their milk tea options had cheese foam, which I am not a huge fan of, so I ended up ordering a Grapefruit Breeze with aloe. The drink itself was beautiful in its orange-yellow sunset colors. I particularly liked that it had real grapefruit slices in it and pulp as well. The aloe ended up being hard to get because it was stuck under all the grapefruit slices. Overall, I still enjoyed the drink very much. The atmosphere of the place was also very calming and lots of seats to sit in. I could definitely see this as a place for friend gatherings or somewhere to study. Definitely will be back if I am ever craving a fruit tea! read more

The warm wood tones and overall aesthetic of the shop is so cute! It's a fairly small location - probably not too ideal for groups larger than 4, but there's plenty of parking in the back that they share with the Kumon next door. Besides all that, it's bit odd that their Christmas decoration is still up... but who doesn't love the holidays ;) Flavors I tried here: Brown Sugar Milk with boba & Cheese covered Rose Oolong I really loved the floral touch to the Rose Oolong ($5)!! Though I was warned by other reviews about how sweet it was since you cant customize the sugar level, I found that it was ok since it complimented the salty cheese. I was mostly pleasantly surprised by the rose petals that were at the bottom of the drink! Overall, flavors were on point, sweetness could be improved. As someone who usually gets 50% sugar for bubble tea and drinks coffee black, I might look around the menu before I come back to this one. The Brown Sugar Milk was about $5.50. Drink itself was pretty good and had a subtle caramel flavor! I was worried that the 100% sugar my friend got would be too sweet... and yet it was exactly that. BUT the sweetness of the drink I could handle. It was the boba that I'd caution future customers against. It was super chewy (yes!), a little undercooked (ok that's fine), but the worst was that it was SO SO sweet as if it was coated in an extra layer of syrup. The drink I would get again, but curious to see what it would taste like without the boba... The menu has so many interesting options, I'll be back to try more! We had their mango tea; it was the best ive ever had. We needed water; they gave us a free cup of water. They are in the city, where there is tons of natural light, and the community is fantastic. It was about 100 degrees, and the cooling is fantastic. Its cozy, and makes you feel at home. If i lived near them, i would get their bubble tea daily. It's definely my favorite bubble tea store in NJ, I have tried many others before, personally, Mi Tea is the best one. Their most popular product is the "Cheese foam", which is made of high quality cheese and taste super good. I strongly suggest you to try that! There are a variety of tea flavor for you to choose. And each drink use one tea bag, so each drink is made fresh. Personally I recommend the Cheese-covered Peach Oolong and the Cheese-covered Heavy Roasted Oolong. Also, try the Fruit Lust! There are so many kinds of fresh fruit in this drink and you can have a fork to eat them after finishing the drink lol The Cheese-covered fruit slush is also Amazing! You cannot imagine how fantastic it is when the fruit slush melted together with the Cheese foam. There are four kinds of the fruit slush: watermelon, strawberry, mango and dragonfruit, and they use the real fresh fruit to make the slush! They also have the brown sugar cake with cheese foam as the dessert, the snow cokkie is also very tasty. All the dessert deserve a try and I promise you will like them! The environment there is elegant, it is a nice place to have a good time with friends, Mi Tea provides some card game like Uno too. Not exactly a favorite. I came in because I saw that they have the newest bubble tea fad--cheese foam. I asked the girl working if cheese foam is better with hot or cold drinks, to which she replied 'both.' Not super helpful but maybe they both were. I ordered the matcha milk cheese foam hot, with 30% sugar. I sat down at one of the tables with my drink and soon realized that it was way too sweet. I looked at the label and it was full sugar. But by that time I had drank a quarter of it and didn't feel comfortable telling them to remake it. But I couldn't really drink more of it either. The mix of the cheese foam and the super sweet matcha was interesting. Almost like a cheese cake taste. I don't think I would order it again but I'm glad I at least tried it. read more

A bit surprised by this place's rating because their tapioca pearls are always fresh and warm. I really like their brown sugar milk tea and the cheese covered slushies. I also sometimes ask for tapioca pearls in my slushy and I think it's definitely a move! Haven't tried any of their basic teas. I usually go here for a treat. Came in to try the new tea joint in town and was sort of let down. My wife and I ordered a hot Formosa black milk tea and Matcha tea with boba. The tea was luke warm at best and was nothing special as far as flavor - just like drinking from a generic tea bag. The Matcha milk tea was decent but it wasn't too cold. I liked the boba texture but it was a little too sweet for me. Looking at the menu they have fruit tea drinks, and cheese foam based tea drinks. Definitely some interesting flavors. Like the other local joints, you can add to your drink, boba, and different jellies and adjust the sugar and ice level. The cold drinks aren't on a sealed plastic container, so be careful as it can leak or lid can come loose! Based on today's experience however, I'm not sure we'll be back to this tea chain anytime soon. Btw, there's a parking lot in the back. read more

Orignally excited for this place as they seem to pride themselves in not making anything from powders. Brewed teas, special full leaf blends seem great, and they do offer cheese topping...But they FAIL in the worst possible way - not having boba at time of ordering. How do you not have bubbles and fail to tell your customers only until after you've ordered? It's just down right annoying and terrible customer service, especially if you've just ordered, sat down and relaxed in thier cozy seating area. It's a different story if you're warned at time of ordering - THAT way I could have turned around and gone to Kung-Fu Tea right across the street in the H-Mart shopping plaza. read more

Ask me how excited I am when a new tea shop opens up around here? Did y'all see my Yelp caption? With about 1,000 locations worldwide, they finally opened one here in Edison. They are famous for their boba drinks with an added twist. Looking at their drink menu the items are quite unusual indeed. Here is what we ordered: Mango Milk w/Mango Pudding Cheese-covered Formosa Black Tea Cheese-covered Heavy Roasted Oolong For me, what makes an amazing bubble tea drink is when I can taste the tea. Upon first sip, I found the black tea not strong enough but I did taste the actual tea leaves. I would have liked for the tea to come through more; it is light. My husband thought so too with his Heavy Roasted Oolong Tea drink. Because we topped our tea drinks with cheese foam, we were told to shake/mix our drinks a quarter way through. I thought it was very milk-y as this point and the taste of tea was lost. For me, I will order it without the cheese foam next time. My husband on the other hand, did not mind it. As for the Mango Milk w/Mango Pudding, it has a very nice mango yumminess to it. Very different from most other bubble tea places, I am sure to be back to try other drinks. Toppings are an additional charge: - Tapioca - Cheese Foam - Mango Pudding - Chia Seeds Certain drinks do not come with ice or sugar level options. I'm very excited about this new bubble tea place for a couple of reasons. Although it's not in the HMart plaza, it's across the street and convenient to grab a drink after food shopping. This place also has a menu that is different from your standard tea place. Most of all, I am excited because it looks like the fruit flavored drinks use real fruit, not flavored powders. Their menu ranges from fruit slushies (eg, watermelon slush, dragonfruit slush, strawberry slush, mango slush), pure teas, various milk mixtures (eg mango milk, coconut milk with mango pudding, oolong cocoa) and many other interesting options. Many of the drinks come with a cheese foam. It looks similar to the milk foam in other places. We didn't order the cheese foam (not sure how cheese would taste with bubble tea, but some reviewers from the flushing branch love it so I'll give it a try next time). We ordered the mango milk with jelly and a Formosa black milk tea with pearls and jelly. Although I asked for 30% sugar for the Formosa tea and light ice, it was still very sweet, probably because the pearls and jelly are already sweetened. If I get this again, i would not add any sugar in the future. There was no ice in the drink and it was lukewarm. I am not sure if the 30% ice melted or if they don't add ice to their teas. Note that both drinks came out very milky. I saw another customer order the dragonfruit (pitaya) drink and it looked very good. There were also a couple of orders of what sounded like a rose tea milk drink which I would have loved to try but I didn't see it on the menu. The staff speaks mostly mandarin but they do speak English too. The staff is friendly, approachable and overall enthusiastic. The cups are dual function. There is a slot for your straw but there is also a small removable tab for sipping the foam (I've been told from other places that the foam should be sipped slowly, not used with a straw) Be careful entering the parking lot. When we went, it was dark and raining. We hit the curb entering and got a flat tire. read more

Came back so I could introduce some friends to cheese tea and I'm happy to say they all enjoyed their orders. I learned a few new things this trip. If you order 2 drinks you get 20% off the second one. You also get a slight discount if you pay in cash. I ordered a rose oolong this time and it was very floral but a little sweet so I'll get less sugar next time. I definitely still recommend a jasmine green tea as the go to if you're new to cheese tea or not sure what to order. The mango milk was also nice but not really my thing. Boba here is wayyy too sweet. I ordered a drink with maybe 30/50% sugar and although the drink was fine, the boba was incredibly sweet. I'm not sure why (It might be because it was soaking in so much syrup, which was also added to my drink) but the drinks here in general are just ok. I feel like there's better in the area. read more

I ordered a drink. The tea is definitely not fresh and caused me to have an upset stomache. It is probably left overnight in the kettle for a few days which was brewing fungus and bacteria in this hot and humid weather. I then had a very serious case of diaherrea and caused me to go to the bathroom for over 1 hour. I almost had to go to the ER if my stomach pain did not get better. Mi Tea definitely needs to have better quality control. If the tea is not fresh, you should throw it away and make a new fresh batch to serve your customers. Don't be thrifty and sell expired drink to your customers. Customers beware: Stay away from this place. If you get sick after their drinks, don't say I didn't warn you. read more

This is the BEST boba I've ever had between places in NYC, Seattle, and Los Angeles. The boba is perfectly made with the right amount of chew and brown sugar flavor. I was very excited to hear that new bubble tea stores were opening around me. It brings quite a refreshing vibe to the current existing tea places in Edison. Quality: The tea here taste very fresh. I personally prefer the more fruity flavors such as the kiwi and passion fruit. They actually used cut fruit and put them into the drinks. The milk tea however was not as good for my preferences. Also their cups are very nice also (the design and quality of it). Overall their tea is definitely one to try if you love fruity flavored tea. Pricing: As for pricing, I noticed that the tea is a bit more expensive than other stores within the vicinity. For instance, some tea are one size, therefore you can see yourself spending up to 5-6$ for just one drink. I tried the Oreo Brown Sugar milk and it was delicious! Definitely very sweet drink since I ordered normally, but the brown sugar tastes warm and I love the crunch of the crushed Oreo. When I got their they advertised and recommended their bubble teas with sweet cheese foam at the top and all though I was hesitant to try it I thought I might like it. Came here after getting hot pot nearby with 2 of my friends a few weeks ago. The place is a bit on the small side, but we were able to grab a table and hang out for awhile. I got their cheese covered heavy roasted oolong tea, which sounds awful, but I swear it doesn't taste that bad: think of the cheese covering as a cheesecake-flavored foam on top of your drink. I am no longer coming to this bubble tea spot I had my share of frustrations. I just found out they charge you for a service fee (charge fee) everything is going up and on top of that they charge you an extra fee... that is messed up. That's taking advantage of people. The receipt doesn't show the extra fee but before you pay it's on the screen so people pay attention. There was a time where I asked for less milk and more taro and they told me they can't do that. I would have to be charged for more taro. So I asked if I could do more milk less taro and same thing I would have to be charged for more milk. They should be accommodating the customer. I hope people reading this understand what I'm trying to say it will just substitute the milk or the taro so being charged more for either or doesn't make sense they would save on either milk or taro. read more

Mi tea has a variety of tea flavors. I got one of their fruit teas. They have really nice decorations and a decent atmosphere. Very good for ig pictures. The tea itself wasn't that good nor was it bad. It was more of an in between. The staff are very friendly and they accept cash and credit card. The atmosphere is very modern. I wanted boba so I came here today, I first walked in and the staff didn't have a mask on and as soon as we walked in they put one on. They should be wearing them at all times I'm pretty sure, even if there aren't customers around.. This place is also quite expensive but the boba is very delicious. I waited about 10 minutes to get my drink but that's not their fault because the boba wasn't made yet. I've seen a lot of reviews on how the staff aren't friendly but I didn't have a problem with them other than them not wearing a mask. We also asked for 2 large drinks and in the other pictures that people posted, their drinks look bigger than ours? 2 drinks also cost around $13 and they don't really have a big selection, most of it is fruit bubble tea.
