I have been wanting to try this restaurant out for a few years. I initially went on the first day…read morethat they open but because I was craving a margarita and they didn't have their liquor license yet I ended up going across the street. So this has been on my list and I finally came here on a Thursday evening with my son. It's at the end of a shopping center where a Walmart is. We got there about 5:30 PM. It was not busy at all. We were promptly greeted by a hostess that sat us in a booth. We started off with the chips and salsa, but on the menu it does say after two baskets they will charge you for the chips and salsa. We only had one. The chip could've been a little thinner. It's rude to find a raspberry margarita so I wanted to get one unfortunately they didn't have any frozen ones. They were just on the rocks. I was pretty shocked when I looked at the receipt and saw that it was $17 for a Margarita and it definitely wasn't worth that much. It had kind of a weird taste to it. We did get the cheese dip and it was very delicious. I decided to try the Mexican lasagna, which was so delicious. I got it with the beef and it was layers of ground beef, pico beans, and possibly some rice too. It was a good portion and I ended up bringing the other half home. My son ended up getting nachos with shrimp, chicken and steak and he really enjoyed it and finished his whole plate. I will definitely be back sooner than later because I love some good Mexican food, but I will probably end up getting just a soda next time. Fernando was our waiter and he was very attentive. I will say the restaurant in the bathrooms were clean. There's only one bathroom each for men and women. I would think it a restaurant this big they would have more stalls.

BEWARE OF HIDDEN CHARGES - We used to love to come to El Jalisco- the food is authentic and…read moredelicious, but the unspoken surcharges will stop us from coming back. It's listed in the menu that you are limited to 2 servings of chips and salsa (which is not the industry standard, but whatever), and at least it's stated clearly. But when removing and replacing an ingredient - there's a surcharge (take off mushrooms/add squash - equivalent priced items. The kicker was asking for a side of lettuce and tomato - the typical Mexican setup offered at most restaurants - we were charged $5.99 for literally a quarter cup of "salad" made of iceberg lettuce and a tablespoon of diced tomatoes. This is GROSSLY overpriced. FYI- You can buy an entire head of iceberg lettuce for $2. Here's the issue - we asked if it was extra before ordering and were told "we'll bring you some" without any price indication. That is sneaky, backhanded treatment of customers in my opinion. We're sad to lose a great Mexican place, but can't support such financial interactions.
