Da bomb! This little roadside Cantina, just off the interstate make some of the best Mexican food I've had in Alabama. The inside is nicely decorated, and actually looks better than the outside does. But the food is what really shines. Lunch specials are very reasonably priced and delicious. I had the enchiladas verdes. We went in for a late dinner, about 45 minutes before they close, and all of the staff was sitting at a booth and table. They looked at us obviously wishing we were not there. We were the only patrons in the restaurant. That should have told us something. Service from that point on was terrible. We had to keep gesturing to them to get someone over to get more water or chips and salsa. Meals were average Mexican food, at best, nothing special. We used to really like this restaurant, but something has changed there. Not going back anytime soon. read more

We LOVE LaTortilla! We have children in Birmingham, so we always plan to stop here to eat on our way home. Wife always gets the beef Chimichanga and I usually get the fajitas. Made a quick gas stop and found this gem. Parking lot was full of local Firefighters so we figured if the locals like it it should be good. We called in an order and it was ready fast. We could not find a menu online but someone posted their fajita bowl so we ordered two. Fantastic choice! So much food. If you are in the area definitely give them a try! read more

When I got here, I asked to sit outside (six tables total) and I ordered a margarita before I was given a menu. After I received the menu, I saw that strawberry margaritas were offered and asked if they could add the flavoring to my current margarita. She brought me an entirely new drink, free of charge. I ordered the Chimi Tomal. It looked delicious and tasted even better. The salsa is a bit spicy but not too much.. It all was very tasty. I wish that I had tried here sooner! read more

We recently moved to this area and decided last minute to go grab some Mexican for dinner. We had the Beef Chimichanga, shrimp chimichanga, and frozen strawberry margaritas for our first meal here. The place filled up quickly after we arrived but our food still came out quickly. Both meals were cooked well and had overall decent flavors. Margaritas were tasty but they poured them very very light. Only a hint of alcohol in them. We will definitely come back to try other things. One think to warn you about: When I went to check out the bill was $60.00 tax and all but after handing the cashier my card and being given my receipt to sign, the bill was over $70. When I asked the kid about the $10 discrepancy he said there was a 3% card fee. When I say kid, I really do mean a very young looking teen. Probably just a math error. But I'll be checking my receipt a bit closer next time. read more

Terrible customer service. Food is extremely bland. Don't get anything with Chicken as the protein, the chicken is so tasteless it almost tastes like boiled chicken. The only reason people actually go to this restaurant is because there is no other sit down restaurants within a 15 minute radius. I recommended never eating at this restaurant. We haven't been here in years. The food was amazing. The tea was fresh (important to me.) We shared the street tacos and oh my, they were delicious. The guacamole was fresh as was the salsa. Oh. My. Gosh! We have passed this little restaurant SO many times and said we should stop, and today we finally did-and we should have a long time ago! My beef enchilada was probably the best I've ever had, and the taco wasn't shabby either. Rice was good and chips were hot and fresh. The ONLY negative thing I'd say is that there was an underlying odor of a cleaning product when we first went in, but it was soon overtaken by the yummy smells of delicious food. We have been eating here for over a year. We came in and ordered our normal meals. The ground beef on all 4 tacos that can out at separate times was pink. We where told that that's just how their meat is. So we where like okay let's try the chicken. That came out smelling nasty and pink. In the midst of Multiple gas stations immediately off the freeway sits a little Mexican Grill. Quick service delicious salsa hot chips, we were pleasantly surprised. The taco and enchilada were both packed full of chicken and beef, well seasoned beef on top of it. It is definitely worth a stop on the way if you need a place to eat. My only complaint was a very sticky dirty bathroom floor so maybe stop at the gas station first. read more

Being from Texas, I try several Mexican and Tex Mex restaurants. We were in Alabama though and weren't sure what to expect. This restaurant happens to have good ratings so we stopped by. We were greeted and seated immediately. Salsa and chips were promptly brought out. I don't usually get sweet tea but I got some this time and it was delicious. The salsa didn't have spice to it but it was good too. I got the Bistek dish and my husband got fajitas. Usually restaurants say their steak is tender but usually it's all lies. This was the truth. Though a little on the dry side, the steak was tender and the flavors were good with the vegetables. The rice and beans were pretty typical. My kids loved their quesadillas and my other son loved his shrimp bowl with was shrimp and vegetables. We were all full and satisfied. It's a great place to go when missing home. read more

ALL of the parking front and back was full! When we went it was raining. Was it worth the parking hassle? YES! Every table was packed so service was a little slow but with the wait. The guacamole was excellent! We got 2 orders. The shrimp was so good!!!! The cheese dip was great too! We liked everything we got. And even though the food took a while to arrive the staff kept us in drinks and chips and salsa. Everyone was very friendly. We are even going back tonight! We were driving through AL and needed lunch. Chicken Salad Chick is closed, on Sunday, so I checked Yelp. This restaurant did not have many reviews, but it did have 5 stars. We decided to eat here, because one yelper said it was the best place, in the world. That is a huge compliment. Suffice to say, it is not the "best place in the world" and the service is not incredible; although, it seems that if you are a regular, it may be. The food is good. The price is very reasonable, and you get a nice size serving. I liked the little dish of ranch that they served, with the chips and salsa. I also liked the grilled veggies they served, with the rice and beans. The fish tacos were stuffed, with grilled fish, lettuce, cheese... They were not the best I have ever had, but good. My husband's tamales, which they only serve a la carte, were very good; not dry like some tamales. read more

We had a steak chimichanga stuck with a tamale, probably the most unusual dish I've had in a Mexican restaurant. Very tasty however I would prefer the tamale to be a little bit smaller. The building doesn't look like much, but when you go inside you can definitely feel the authentic Mexico atmosphere. The food is spectacular, I have tried multiple things but my favorite is the Enchiladas. It tasted as good as my abuela's when I was growing up. read more
