My lunch Fajita Bowl was delicious! Seasoned very well, and instead of cheese sauce I opted for the green Verde Sauce to eliminate the dairy. The chicken was juicy and vegetables cooked just right. The house margarita is just the right amount of sweet and sour for me! So glad my first visit that I'd been waiting for was 5 stars. Service was excellent and it's a nice, clean place. A nice lunch price with leftovers is always a better deal to me than less healthy, greasy fast food. I'll be going back. read more

We have had the worse luck trying to get seated at this restaurant. We have stood in the vestibule and watched servers and wait staff buzz on by, and no one greets us or acknowledges that we are standing there. If you talk about value for money - 4/5 stars. Taste of food - 3 stars. But in the McCalla/Bessemer area, I would still rate this as one of the better Mexican places. There are much better Mexican restaurants in Hoover. BTW A Chile Relleno is NOT a stuffed bell pepper. It requires a poblano pepper. The Mexican restaurant in McCalla is far better. read more

Four stars because I think it's wonderful for this area to have a Mexican restaurant and I believe they have a lot of potential. It'd be nice to see a restaurant make it in this Bucksville building that's housed a rotating door of restaurants. I'm a little jealous they have it now that I no longer live in McCalla. Decent Mexican food is a dime a dozen in Alabama. Great Mexican food is even harder to find. This restaurant has only been open a couple of weeks now and I feel like they have the potential to be great. What you'll find here that you won't find at the numerous other Mexican restaurants is a menu with a lot of variety. Sure they're serving your basic nachos, quesadillas, and burritos but if you really take the time to delve into their menu you'll see they're cooking with meats like ham and chorizo. They're offering dishes like nachos with 5 different meats and a Molcajete which is a sizzling bowl of sauce filled with tender strips of meat. My parents have eaten here a couple of times and my husband, sister, and I joined them for dinner Saturday night. The basic dishes seem pretty basic, nothing too spectacular but I think when my Molcajete came out heads turned because it's something you just don't see at other restaurants. Our main issue was that the salsa along with the entrees were pretty mild in flavor. We're a family who loves our spice. The problem is most restaurants cater to the general public who can't handle a lot of spice. We asked for a spicier salsa and they gladly brought a salsa that appeared to be made of chili peppers, sort of like a chili Colorado sauce if you've ever had that. It had a bit more heat than the regular salsa without actually burning your tongue. We could handle even more heat than that so my dad added some hot sauce to it which gave it a better heat level. I contacted the restaurant on Facebook to find out if they were willing to customize the heat level for those of us who prefer more spice and they said they'd be more than happy to do so. I'd highly recommend asking your friendly server for your entrée to be spicy if you're a heat lover like us. read more

Don't go on "Taco Tuesday" for their $.99 tacos!! They won't let you have soft tacos???? There's very little if any cheese on the tacos, and they weigh half the weight of a Taco Bell taco!! I don't know if that's how they are always served but on their deal day they are seriously slacking!! Oh! Don't order the Sophapia! Every Mexican restaurant in town for the same price fries big flour burritos tortillas to create this dessert. This restaurant is cheesy cheap!! They use a small corn tostado for their dessert. Beans are too runny. The meats whether chicken or beef have too much liquid and it makes tortillas or shells soggy. Beef is too salty.

This place is the business. They've got this specialty called the flaming cheese fajita, and boy lemme tell ya this thing goes HARD. The cheese forms a crust on the bottom of the comal (the hissing plate they bring fajitas out on) and melds with the meat and onions and... ooh daddy. Naturally they've also got the traditional options as well. I can't endorse most of them, but I'm sure the quality is top shelf. The only reason this place ain't getting the 5 star nod is because they give you like 2 tortillas per fajita plate and charge per extra batch of tortillas... come on bruh. If you are ever anywhere near this restaurant you must go! Nestled in the foothills of small town Alabama, the food is good, but the customer service and strong drinks are worth the stop! I had a vegetarian plate F, a frozen margarita and a fried banana dessert that I shared with a friend. My friends had a fajita quesadilla and the shrimp with pineapple. The locals we came with used the menu as a suggestion and the owner of the restaurant was more than happy to make their dream dish come true. The margarita was by far my favorite part, one of the best I've had in a while. I so enjoyed hanging out at this little spot because it wasn't busy, there was plenty of parking and the service staff was so sweet. My wife and I had a truly amazing dinner. By taking the standard 3 meat fajitas and adding ham chorizo and cheese sauce the culinary genius at this establishment produced a delicious dish that was unlike any Mexican food we have ever had. Fajitas Cancun have become my new favorite Mexican dish. If this was all I was writing about it would be enough but the big surprise was when they brought the bill. I would have been happy with any price under $15. That is pretty standard for a dinner size fajitas but $9.50. Amazing. We will definitely be back. read more
