My sisters and I were yearning for Mexican so we decided to try something near their homes. Let's get to it. The service was good enough. Our waiter, Ibrahim, didn't speak much English but he was patient and attentive. Ambience is typical. Lots of Mexican decor. The location is right off of Allison-Bonnet which is the main drag in Hueytown. The restrooms were dated and a little small but clean. On to the food and drinks. The chips and salsa were so yummy! I love the fresh thin chips! We also got the Los Reyes dip and it was delicious. (We didn't even get a pic.) But it's ground beef, Pico and queso. Yummy good. I got the parallida for my meal which is a massive fajita plate of various meats with green bell peppers and onions. All the meat came cooked in a sauce, I wasn't a fan. It wasn't bad just not what I expected. Also the chicken and beef weren't sliced. Just a long strip of each. I did love the rice and beans though. My sis said her baked potato lacked seasoning although it had several meats on it. And my other sister enjoyed her veggie chimichangas. The margarita was ok, nothing bad or great about it other than it was well blended. I think the house tequila made me a little nauseated. Might have to choose another option if I return. The restaurant was clean and busy. Decor/music were typical of most Mexican restaurants. The chips were very fresh and thin, perfect really. The salsa was a little heavy on the cilantro for our taste. My husband and I ordered shrimp dishes. He ordered the Camaron Ranchera, and I ordered the Camaron Al Mojo de Ajo. We both ordered sides of queso with our meal. My husband's food was served as ordered. I instead received the Camaron Empanizado, which I was not thrilled about, as the shrimp were fried, but my husband and I were traveling and in a hurry, so I ate the fried shrimp without complaint. To be fair, they were tasty, and all of the food was served very hot. I just wish they had served me what I ordered. A few small additional notes on the food--the rice had green beans in it, which was different but good; the queso was a bit runny, and the vegetables were grilled instead of steamed, which was inconsistent with menu but probably better actually. Overall, it was not a bad experience, and we might try again when passing through but will have the server repeat our order to us. At the end of the meal, you can scan your check and pay by phone. read more

I love Los Reyes! I really enjoy the food, not to mention the drinks during happy hour are a good price for a good drink. The alcoholic beverages are quite strong, and I love that they are worth the money. The food is pretty good! I recommend getting the rice fajita. It is a plate of their rice with cheese sauce, and your choice of steak or chicken (or both!) and a couple slices of bacon on top. Did I mention there is queso? Nuff' said. But seriously, the food is great. I also enjoy a classic beef burrito with cheese sauce and the rice and beans. It is definitely good for the price, however the rice fajita is a bit on the more pricey side. Last time I went, we did request to make sure their portions were correct. That is my only complaint. Otherwise, it's a pretty cute little location that has a comfortable atmosphere. The cleanliness of the bathrooms is also fair. I haven't seen it dirty once, which is great. As other reviews have said Hueytown is a vast wasteland of pizza delivery and paper wrapped burgers. Los Reyes plays it safe when it comes to Mexican Food, but they get the seasoning right. Although (so far) I've only had ONE dish fromLos Reyes, I've had it THREE TIMES in 5 days, and my sister has had it twice! It's THAT GOOD!!! I'm talking about their Spaghetti Fajita ... spaghetti pasta with either grilled or sautéed bell peppers and onions, choice of grilled chicken, steak, or shrimp (or ground beef, if you request it) in a lightened cheese sauce, with sour cream and a slice of tomato. I've gotten the chicken each time, and have been VERY pleased with the dish. My only disappointment is the serving size vs the price; I think it could be a tad less than the $9.99 charged, but the price HASN'T kept me from getting it three times already!!! It really IS THAT good!! It isn't loaded down with that "taco seasoning" taste; just fresh ingredients with the yummy sauce. It was a "I-want-something-different" dish, and it's not like anything else around here. Mission accomplished! I went back within two days because their chips were delicious. Someone else order a steak that was served on a sizzling platter and I made an exception to my rule about ordering items that a establishment doesn't specialize in. My T-Bone was huge with a sizable tenderloin part. It was extremely thin so almost impossible to get it cooked to my preferred rare. It was extremely juicy, flavorful and served with onions and peppers on the platter. It also came with a melody of grilled veggie I left on the table but the potato was not fresh and was nearly cold but had that hard brown pocket from being cooked and reheated. The waiter took it away and brought a microwaved one in 10 minutes. It wasn't completely done but did have cheese and real sour cream. I took it home to eat with the rest of my steak. It was $14 for a steak dinner I still enjoyed even with the issues with the sides. I won't order it again but will continue to stop in for snacks and Mexican food. The staff isn't the warmest but I don't hold it against them with the current climate. They are all about taking an order, dropping it on the table and turning the table over because I'm a party of one that refuse to be seated at one of the smaller tables without enough room. For some reason there isn't any data reception inside so I'm not able to spend time on social media. That might be why I haven't broken down and tried one of their margaritas everyone else seem to like. For good Mexican food, one cant go wrong. If you want a nice thick steak, try someone else. read more

Los Reyes is the best Mexican restaurant on that side of town! I enjoy their Mexican spaghetti the most. It's full of flavor and plenty of meat. I always ask for extra cheese but I'm sure most people wouldn't need it. I ordered a taco salad and a combo of steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas (which I paid extra for). The order was ready and packed when I arrived. When I paid, the taco salad was $10. I thought that was really high but being dinner I just thought it was a dinner sized taco salad. I get back home and open it up and it was the smallest taco salad I have ever seen and the shell wasn't even full. Also they put the chips in with the food which leaked all over the bag and was a soggy mess and ruined. My fajitas were horribly disappointing. there were only 3 shrimp and had to use a microscope to find any chicken or beef. It was mostly onions and peppers and not even that much of it. Hueytown isn't exactly known for having great food. Mostly, it has chain restaurants and fast food joints. Los Reyes seemingly fits this mold, and you can get your basic, white girl dishes there, but I recommend trying the burrito durango. It's a cheese covered burrito filled with chorizo and your choice of chicken or steak, and it's absolutely phenomenal. Definitely worth going just to try this dish. read more

This probably the worse Mexican food I've tasted BUT the staff were very friendly and always polite. They just need to work on the seasoning or flavoring on the food. I went to Los Reyes in Hueytown for the last time tonight. My family & I have supported this particular Mexican Restaurant for years. Most of the servers know us when we walk in. Tonight 10 of my family members ate there and my 70 year old retired Dad picked up his 3 year old granddaughter and somehow a plate gets knocked off the table. When my dad pays his bill they had added an additional $5 for the plate. I have NEVER heard of this & even if I had... you are going to charge my dad when we have supported your place for years AND advertised for you by telling all our friends? My dad thought the owner was joking & when he found out he wasn't he was incredibly rude!! To a 70 year old? Really? My Dad told him he would not be back, and neither would his daughter, or his daughters friends. The owner said he didn't care. Well then.....there you have it! Bye Bye Los Reyes.
