This is a fantastic mexican joint in Olathe. I love everything I've had here. The chips are amazing, the staff is incredible, the fried ice cream is delicious. I love their mole sauce. I'll even order a side of it to go. It costs a little extra, but it is worth it. The hot salsa is excellent. The verde salsa is excellent. Everything is really good. My go-to menu item is usually the combo 7. Chicken taco, chicken enchilada and chicken burrito. With a side of Mole. The chicken taco is deep fried and crunchy and perfect. The enchilada and burrito taste the same, mainly because they put the enchilada sauce on everything. The rice and beans are above par. But my favorite is the cornball that comes with every entree. I don't know what it is about it, but I love it. My wife hates corn, so I usually get 2. The prices are typical for a mexican restaurant. The staff is incredible. I say it again, incredible. I'm not sure who our waitress was, but a group of 10 showed up at 9:45, 15 minutes before closing, and she told us that as long as we got our order in before 10 she would take care of us. And she did a great job. She took our orders, we didn't feel rushed, she refilled our beverages and did a great job. Another big plus is their drive-thru window. You can call and order carry out and pick it up from the drive-thru window. It's awesome. Just don't forget the hot salsa. They always give plenty of chips and salsa when you carry out. The food here is just not good. I decided to try it a second time to see if it was just a fluke the first time, nope still not good. The grilled onions looked and tasted almost raw and the chunks of pork were as big as the palm of my hand. Now I do have to say they wanted to make me something different but not without bringing back in my food. My husband is on his way to take it back right now. Taking food back to show it to the cook during covid is not really the greatest idea. I used to eat here all the time when I lived in Olathe. It has expanded and is much better with a great bar area. The service was fabulous and the food was delicious. Manager was rude and I distant about having a paper coupon for Espinaca. I explain to him that my apartment building burned down last Thursday less than a week ago and then I have no papers or anything to give him. Because I had pulled up a coupon on Facebook but he would not except it. I also sat here at the bar waiting and waiting and waiting and not a single person ever addressed me to offer me anything to drink even water nobody's paid attention to me at all or giving me any kind of service. I will never ever ever come to this location again. I have been to the Overland Park location multiple times and I've had great service but not this location. This was the worst customer service. order placed online over 40 minutes until it was ready. went inside to pick up unfortunately only received half the order and realized this once we were back home. Called to restaurant and stated they will not deliver and would credit the order and we could return to restaurant to pick up the rest of the order. Upon returning to restaurant told would have to place a whole new order for the food that was missing. Our order was for 9 people to celebrate our mothers life. We had just driven over 4 hours for her funeral service and was wanting to have dinner together. Website states excellent customer service this is a lie with the experience we had tonight. Recently visited Kansas for a few days with a big group and was accommodated just fine, even when our party kept getting bigger and bigger, from 10 to 15 to about 30 people, they were very cool about taking care of us while not compromising in the food and service departments. The complimentary chips and salsa are tasty but these chips seemed to break very easily, and we had to keep asking for more. My boyfriend is a fan of the mole sauce so he ordered the Teresa's mole enchiladas, and he was a pleased with his meal. I love carne asada so I asked them to put them in a quesadillas and it was just wonderful. Their portions are very generous. Their parking is a bit on the smaller side, our friends had to park in the neighboring business. Overall, this is a decent place to satisfy your Mexican craving, its pretty much your typical cantina. read more

It was my understanding that Mi Ranchito is THE place for mexican food in Olathe. My friend used to tempt me with weekly picture text messages of her meal, which looked good enough for me to crawl through the metaverse connection to join her! It was no contest that I HAD to give this place a try during my visit to Kansas. What makes Mi Ranchito different from the mexican food places I frequent here in So Cal is their menu. I opened it expecting to see the all-too-common taco/enchilada/rice/beans combo, which they do have; but what REALLY drew my attention was their other unique dishes on the menu. The Bravo Burrito (steak & shrimp), and the Burrito Feliz (carnitas, ground beef, rice & beans) both looked interesting, but what my friend orders really threw the experience over the top. The Cream Cheese Chicken Enchiladas had the most amazing flavor and is a dish not found here in So Cal (but I'm on a quest now!!) I wound up ordering the Mi Ranchito Sampler, which I'm sad to report wasn't all I hoped for based upon the menu. They advertise two taquitos, and two flautas, when in reality they are just one cut in half. The did give two legitimate Pollo Feliz's, which was like a tamale only tastier, however. I'd have been happier if they just called it what it is on the menu, rather than getting my hopes (and completely empty stomach!) up on the read. lol! Enough nit-picking; the service was exceptional. Tables were bussed by guys who must have worked on Nascar pit crews, I swear. Fast, efficient, yet never out of control or panicked... empty glasses were refilled on a regular basis, and as quick and speedy as the service was I never felt rushed out the door. This place used to be on our frequently dined list. Hadn't been in awhile so we stopped in after a busy day. Restaurant was busy. Girlfriend ordered chicken fajitas; when they showed up, they were not hot and sizzling like they have always been in the past. Not loaded with peppers and onions like they have always been in the past. Black beans or refried beans have apparently been replaced with this soupy navy bean concoction that has relatively little flavor. The rice.......what the heck did they do to their rice? Horrible flavor. She wound up eating nothing. I ordered a special which had chicken, shrimp and shredded crab on top. Came with the same soupy beans and the bland rice. Dish was warm but not hot. Also, neither meal came with my favorite thing: the cornbread ball of goodness. Tried to talk my partner into letting me send the food back, but she didn't want to offend someone, and she didn't want to risk someone doing something to our food for complaining. Highly disappointed in the menu changes. Couldn't understand the server because he mumbled. Never asked when he brought the check if something was wrong; you could clearly see that my partner hadn't touched her food. As a server, that's critical to notice as a sign that something definitely IS WRONG, and you need to find out how to fix it. read more

I love all of the Mi Ranchito locations. I have never had a problem, except for the one time they left the produce stickers on my bell peppers in my burrito. I just picked those pieces out honestly and left it on my plate for them to see when they cleared the table. Lol. I have gone so many times it wasn't even a big deal to me, and I keep going. The cheese dip is awesome, and if you get the valpac coupons it is free! It is a great place for a family gathering. The food is always amazing. Unlimited chips and salsa. Mi Ranchito is one of my favorite places to get Mexican food around the KC metro. This place was started in KC, and continues to grow and expand. I didn't always like coming to the Harrison location because it was small, cramped, and was basically just an old modified Pizza Hut. The restaurant has been beautifully remodeled, and my wife and I had an amazing experience out on the back patio area that was added. The food and service were both top notch. You have to try the Espinaca Cheese Dip. My normal go-to is the Jalisco Chimichanga. It is one of the best burritos I've ever had. Creamy, cheesy, crispy, and chicken-y! I highly recommend Mi Ranchito in general, and if you haven't been to this location since the remodel, you have to check it out. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaruant in KC. It's not traditional, but I've never had a bad meal here. Their salsa is fresh and they make their own chips (besides who can complain about endless chips and salsa for free?). The queso is great for an appetizer and there's usually a coupon in the Valu-Pak My two favorites are the Cream Cheese Chicken Enchiladas or the Jalisco Chimichanga. I also like their salads and tortilla soup! They have skinny and regular margaritas- both delicious! They used to sell them in pitchers, but can't anymore due to some stupid JoCo law that was passed (or so they told me). Other than the quality of food, my other favorite thing about this place is the service! I'm pretty sure that I've never not had a manager come and ask me how my meal and service was. They are very customer focused and great at what they do! They get packed at lunch/dinner time everyday, so I would suggest calling ahead as they do allow call ahead seating, but no reservations. read more

Each visit to Olathe involves a visit to Mi Ranchito with multiple families. This weekend was no exception. My issue is the manager on duty who came to our table to resolve a comment by me to our server that the the mango in my mango chicken salad was inedible and never should have left the kitchen. He agreed it was not good. Thinking he would do the right thing and correct it on our rather large check - 2 pitchers of Margaritas. He did nothing. This would never happen in a restaurant in Las Vegas. You should not need to ask for a comp when things are not to the usual high standards we expect from this place. They give out a free dip coupon when you pick up your take out order at the drive through. Great atmosphere with wonderful service, the new building is beautiful!
