Great food and fantastic service! I ordered the giant quesadilla with al pastor meat. A little while later they came out and extremely apologetically told me that they were out of al pastor meat and suggested carne asada instead. I said, sure no problem. Our meals came moments later and our server told us that he was going to bring us a desert on the house. I told him that it wasn't necessary and there was no problem. We were greeted with a warm welcome by employees in nice yellow Mi Ranchito dress shirts. Nice. We were immediately served the traditional chips and salsa. The kids with us even like the salsa. It was just the right amount of spicy for us. We order a full order of guacamole and they brought it out right away. It was nice and cold and so flavorful. Good enough to eat all by itself. They have kids menu items. The happy face fries were a big hit. The tacos were crispy and delicious. We even ordered fried ice cream. It was served with extra spoons, good call. We devoured it. The server was nice. It was downhill from there. In fairness our companions seemed to like their combo plates just fine. The salsa was just ok. My Carne Asada was the worst I've had anywhere. Tough, gristly, and not any flavor. My wife's chimichanga was mostly rice with a couple of small spoons of ground beef. The restroom situation was ridiculous. It wasn't that busy but it's a big place and there is a one person restroom for each gender. Absolutely LOVE My Little Ranch... Mi Ranchito has some awesome Mexican plates that I can come back for again and again. My favorite is the Caren Asada Burrito with the sauce on the side. That way, you get all of the delicious, perfectly melted cheese on top all to itself. Then you drizzle on the salsa to how you like it. Definitely recommend. This WAS a family favorite. Hadn't been for a couple of years; decided to return. We ordered a chicken enchilada meal, big burrito meal, a second burrito meal and taquitos. PROS - seated quickly, table was clean, tasty chips and salsa with free refills, CONS - waitress was rather impersonal and not especially helpful with menu items, slow service, when food did arrive one of the burrito meals and the taquitos were cold, refried beans were runny. Returned the cold meals and asked that they be warmed. From the looks of it, the plates we're set under a broiler for a couple of more minutes and then return to us. Dining options in Utah County are limited on Sundays. (There are so many limits in Utah county, but that is beside the point.) Today I wanted good Mexican food, and I didn't want to have to drive up to Salt Lake. I ended up driving North along State Street past all the closed restaurants until reaching Mi Ranchito in AF. It'd been awhile since I'd last dined here, and the last time was okay. This time was great. Service was friendly, and attentive but not annoying. 3 Mole enchiladas, and a couple of Modelo Negras and I was one happy diner. I love mole, and I was pleased with their sauce. (It wasn't Red Iguana, but nothing can compare to Red Iguana's moles.) Next time you are hungry on the Sabbath, skip the chain restaurants. Give this place a shot. I've been to the Salt Lake location and thought it was decent, so it's nice to see that they have other joints in Utah County as well. This place was pretty busy for a Sunday night, so I took that as a good sign. We were seated in a booth that had high wooden walls, but they were a bit noisy when kids and other patrons would bang against them. Other than that, the decor was Mexican themed and colorful which suited this place. Our server was nice and our drinks and food were brought out promptly. My Michelada was delicious and satisfied my craving for this deliciously spiced up beer. I also liked the complimentary chips and salsa because it had a nice spiciness. So as you can probably tell from what I've mentioned thus far,I'm a fan of heat. For my entree, I went with an order of the Camarones a la diabla which was advertised as being very hot. Unfortunately, the shrimp were hugely lacking in any kind of spice which was slightly disappointing, but the sauce did taste pretty good in a buttery way. read more

Best Mexican food I have ever had. Better yet, best restaurant in Utah I've been to. I ordered the grilled cheese quesadilla with veggies, and it was honestly the best quesadilla I've ever had. The veggies were grilled to perfection and were seasoned with so much flavor you wouldn't believe. I could've just eaten those veggies without the quesadilla. Everything tasted fresh like it had just been made, including the salsa. The salsa had a good spice to it. Not too little, not too much. The owner is the kindest man as well! He seemed so grateful just to have us there. 10/10 for food and 10/10 for service. Everything I ate there was delicious, down to just the rice. You're also given VERY generous portions. Very well worth the money. I don't eat out often, but when I do, this is my first choice, as it should be yours too! Thanks for the great meal! Ate here for the second time (reluctantly) with some coworkers who thought it was Rancheritos. It wasn't. Water served that tasted like soap. Chips were the little broken bits from a bag of generic, store-bought variety and the salsa was runny, bland and seemed like it also came right out of the jar. Not authentic Mexican food and not a good start to the meal. Honestly, the Machaca with eggs was quite tasty and filling, but my stomach was alerting me to the beginnings of a tough night by the time I got back to the office. I have been here more the a hundred times throughout my life and in the last ten or so years it's realy hit or miss! The hard beef tacos are a must! There is just somthing about them! I usually get the guadalajara meal because I want it for more then one meal! And it's at least two. But with quantity there is a sacrifice to quality! And that is the problem. I have tryed most of the buritos and thay are so so, the fajitas (except any with sea food) are good. The chilli reano is hit or miss. After eating here as many times as I have every thing tasts just the same there is no difference between the enchilada and the smotherd burrito. I've only been here for lunches with coworkers. There is a pretty good collection of casual dining Mexican restaurants along the Wasatch front. They are Mexican in the same way all the Italian places are not really Italian. It's American comfort food at its best. They are all pretty much interchangeable. This place may not look like much just from driving by but once you step inside you instantly feel a homey Mexican restaurant setting. When I say that this food is the best Mexican food I have ever had in my life I am not exaggerating, from the giant portions they give you( I am a large guy and I can't even finish half my plate with how much they give you) which is an amazing bang for your buck definitely worth up to 20$ for only 13-15. Where it not for the 2 or 3 previous visits, I would not be able to speak of the food because after 4 min wait (no the were not busy at all) to be seated, we then waited for 8-10 min for waters and a hello... waiters passed by, even a bus-boy... to no avail. Will not be returning. Hope they fail, and are bought-out by someone who keeps the menu the same and fires anyone who ever drew a paycheck from the current regime. I had eaten at the Mi Ranchito in Orem and was so pleased! I'm from Texas and know good Mexican food . So, I was thrilled to know that there was a Mi Ranchito (same family owned) nearby in American Fork. I took my large family there, bragging to them on how good the food was at the sister restaurant in Orem. Boy, was I disappointed and embarrassed. The food at the Mi Ranchito in American Fork did not compare at all to the one in Orem. It was awful. I wish they would have the cooks from the Orem restaurant come work with the cooks at the American Fork restaurant. It would help them greatly! Today when I ate at the Orem restaurant, another customer voiced my opinion as well. I will never go back to this restaurant in American Fork even though the service people were nice. It's easy to dismiss Mi Ranchito as an average, typical Mexican restaurant, much like dozens of others along the Wasatch front. But no matter how correct that assessment may be, I enjoy coming back here again and again. The menu offers hundreds of choices (or so it seems), the service is quick, the portions are generous and the price is very affordable. I really enjoy their complimentary house salsa--it's thin and chunky. I often pour a whole bowl of it on my entree. These guys do have the best shrimp tacos around, I always get them with fries because I'm a wimp that likes her fries. They always oblige, good fries. The service can be a hit and miss, but they always have one super sweet guy at the front doing the take out. Parking can be hard, the spots are small and people park crappy.
