My third time dining in and it's just so dang good! If you're a guac lover you MUST try the table side guacamole. It's so tasty and can be made to suit your level of desired spiciness. They top it with bacon and my goodness I could eat the entire molcajete! I also enjoy their signature spicy cucumber martini. It arrives to the table bubbling and with such flavor. My last visit I tried the pollo agave which is breaded chicken sitting on a bed of mashed potatoes and surrounded by a mushroom cream reduction. I could not stop enjoying it until it was all gone. We tried the chipotle bacon quesadillas accompanied by mimosas. We ordered a mix of chicken and beef which had some kind of flavoring that was pleasing to the palate. I'm not sure what it was, but both of us really liked it. The chipotle, bacon, cheese & caramelized onions were a beautiful mix. The quesadillas were definitely a shareable portion and came with a mini scoop of guacamole & sour cream, which was tiny, but it was enough, as we were not trying to over eat. Their hot sauce was super tasty! I think I detected a hint of basil in it which was different, but again, we both loved it! The mimosas were served in handsome glasses and they had a good balance of champagne and juice. I love mimosas and these did not disappoint! The server was very friendly and brought our food out quickly. The restaurant itself was clean and had a very light and airy ambience. The food was slightly pricey, but not unreasonable. A friend selected this place to celebrate another friends birthday. The two of them are local to Dallas, I was visiting. The food, service and ambiance was fantastic! We were there for maybe 4 hours? I couldn't get enough of their cocktails! I don't remember our servers name, but he was a character. First of all, it is so unique to find New Mexican style food in the Dallas area, but also I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here. We tried the table side guacamole as an appetizer. Easter Sunday 2024 After church, my lady and I decided to grab lunch at Winewood. It is located in the same pavilion next door to MI Dia's. It never dawned on me that due to it being a holiday, a reservation may need to be made at WW. Since we couldn't dine there, we walked next door for Mexican food. The steak inside the chimichanga was tender, juicy, and seasoned with a hearty portion inside. The show stopper was the guacamole...mannn let me tell y'all the tableside entertainment of watching it being prepared was neat. All the ingredients were fresh, which made this dish even more delicious. Yes, the price tag was sixteen dollars. However, you're playing for the experience. The flavors were smooth and cohesive and their sides were also well executed! The table salsa also had some nice kick and flavor and the chips were par for your typical restaurant. I was so happy that they use organic corn and it is great that they make their own tortillas as well as sourcing high quality meat. They have a few dedicated vegetarian options, but they said their other parts of the menu incorporate things like lard in the beans, so be sure to ask if this is something specific to your needs. The duck tacos were nicely balanced with the fatty (but not overly greasy) meat and acidity of the pickles. Their drinks are also excellent with a large selection of tequilas in particular. We showed up around dinner time so the restaurant was busy, waiting about 30 minutes for our table. This was not a big deal to us at all. After we were seated our waitress was amazing, quick, and helpful. The food, as always, was delicious! Worth noting that 3 adults + 1 margarita was only $85! Came here for a Christmas lunch today with my boss after she raved about it, and I'm glad I did. Hands DOWN the best enchiladas I've had in the Metroplex. Our waitress told us everything is brought in fresh daily, and it definitely tasted like it! Cute restaurant with a full bar, and as she stated even the drink mixes have natural ingredients assembled in-house, not full of sugar and chemicals. Due to Covid, we opted for outdoor dining in the nicely sized back outdoor area and everyone was nicely spaced out. This was served a bit differently than I've had it at other restaurants as they wrapped the queso inside the tortillas instead of having the tortillas on the side. Not seasoned, taste like fish, the rice was a big disappointment for me especially since the rice is what i anticipate the most at a Mexican restaurant. Usually the cilantro rice is topped with cheese and lime, this was so bland it tasted like water. No taste, a big dull. The beans was only okay at the first bite, but distasteful. We ended up not touching the rice and beans at all, ended up taking it home for my dad and he threw it in the trash. The drinks were average; mojito tasted like a mojito, nothing special, nothing to expect, could have used more mint. The crayola candy drink was not good. It tasted like wax candles, our waitress did us wrong for recommending the crayola drink. Should have gone with the mistletoe. Overall, it was okay, good experience, nice to go once a year. How can something so simple be SO AMAZING!! Mi Dia, you truly have won the award for the BEST table side guacamole in town! All I can say is WOW!! The gentleman that made it asked us if we wanted spicy, medium, or mild. I chose in between, and it was perfect!! I got all the fixings including bacon and that was a nice touch. The service was great, our server was Daniel D and he was so attentive and he knew the menu well which was great! The tortilla soup was broth based instead of red tomato based like some places so I loved it! The bartender really knows how to make a drink, and they have a 6 page drink menu, so if you like cocktails, or if you just appreciate a good tequila, this is your place!! The bathrooms were clean as well. My only recommendation would be to show up early if you are meeting someone because the parking is horrendous!!! There are several restaurants in this parking lot, so I had to park across the street at a closed business and just pray they didn't tow me. lol Mi Dia was packed inside and I see why. 1st time in Dallas and Hubby and I wanted to Mexican food. Google pointed us here. So glad it did. We went for lunch and it was delightful. There was a 35-45 minute wait but I think we waited maybe 20-25 minutes. Yelp warned me that it may be a wait so we were cool. Our server Diego was great. He was clearly pretty busy as he would take a few minutes to return to our table sometimes but no complaints there. Definitely didn't give the vibe of a Mexican restaurant but it was still cool. 1. Chips and salsa - literally the best we've had in a while. It was super fresh and tasty. 2. Tableside Guacamole - soooooo good!! Definitely a must have. 3. Chile con Queso - it was okay. Definitely didn't need this but wanted to try it. 4. I ordered the Baja Shrimp tacos!! The biggest shrimp that I have seen in forever. Just one deep Fried shrimp on each taco with pickled cabbage. Quite tasty. It came with guajillo rice and beans. Was not a fan of the taste of the rice, but that is personal presence. 5. The hubby ordered a vegetarian dish. It looked super fresh. The restaurant was sending mixed messages when it comes to their COVID-19 protocols. On one hand, the staff were masked and QR codes were placed on both ends of the table rather than provide printed menus. On the other hand, there were no signage for diners being requested or even recommended to wear a mask. As a result, the bar area was packed with people with no evidence of a face mask being worn. Whether it was the fault of the latest iOS update or the embedded url within the QR code, I was being asked to view a third party app in the App Store rather than see their online menu. I ended up accessing the menu from the restaurant's website. The waiter may have been an used car salesman in a previous life. When browsing the beverage menu, I was considering the HATCH GREEN CHILI INFUSED AMBHAR PLATA. My waiter strongly recommended that I order a margarita and pointed me to the HELL FREEZES OVER. Normally, I do not waste money on premium liquor with mixed drinks. My taste buds are not refined enough to differentiate top shelf tequila from house when combined with other ingredients. Although I enjoyed the drink, I primarily tasted the agave nectar. Like the rest of my table, I was browsing the dinner menu. When I initially ordered the CARNE ADOVADA, I discovered we were to browse the limited menu. Unfortunately, I was the only one who happened to choose an item which was not on the limited menu. Since I was on borrowed time, I quickly chose the CARNE ASADA. I enjoyed the steak especially with guacamole. The guacamole which came with the entree was more preferable compared to the NOT-SO-TABLESIDE GUACAMOLE. Upon nearing the Grapevine Mi Dia from scratch restaurant entrance, I was surprised and delighted to see a duck dozing peacefully in a tall planter. Apparently, 2021 is Daisy Duck's second season in this nest. Restaurant staff watch over her, keeping her water bowl full and setting boundaries for patrons, who are asked not to touch or feed her. The planter / nest is notably free of plants, another sign that Daisy's choice of a home for her ducklings-to-be is blessed by the restaurant. (Daisy is currently tending to a nest full of eggs.) Perhaps Mi Dia from scratch should install a webcam and swap the road runner in their branding materials for a duck. And, oh yeah, lunch was great too: a generously sized Mi Dia salad (with salmon), tasty mango agua fresca and complimentary chips with flavorful salsa. Hadn't been to Mi Dia in years and decided to meet friends there for lunch. I had a watermelon margarita which was very good but it should have been spectacular for $18. One of my friends had the enchiladas which were good but comparable to a chain restaurant quality. Two of the other people in the group had the chicken chimichanga with rice and beans. The refried beans were ok but rather dry. The chimichangas were a big portion and both of them liked them. I had the spinach quesadilla. It had great flavor but the bottom was so soggy. The queso fundido was unique as I was expecting something to dip chips in, but it came on a skillet in which the waitress mixed all the cheese and chorizo up, then proceeded to put the mixture into fresh tortillas. A nice twist. To me, while the carnitas had flavor, they were a little dry. So you definitely have to add the salsa to add some moisture. The poblano rice was a nice addition and the black beans were silky smooth. The stacked enchiladas were awesome! I'm a sucker for any enchiladas with eggs on top. They were something a little different, especially with the blue corn tortillas. And the two salsas on top were in the New Mexico style, some heat but not overbearing.
