I've been coming to this location to eat for about 8 years, I've always had a great experience with food and service. I recently went there & ordered my usual dinner- the vegetarian menu they have vegetable tacos with rice. I've eaten this many times and been totally fine- however this time, about an hour and a half later (i stayed for dessert to chat with friends at dinner)- i was profusely sweating, had a fever, and ended up vomiting up all of the food in their parking lot. It's now the next day and I feel totally normal I'm eating normally now, so this isn't a stomach bug. No one else was sick, but no one tried my food either. Visited this place just before 5:00 on a Friday afternoon. They have patio seating and the inside is fairly upscale. You can tell this is a very-happy happy-hour place. They have booths that make you feel as if you are secluded in your own space but still have the ability to look around and check things out. Our waiter was one of best I've had in a while. Very attentive and always ahead of me bringing things that I was just about to ask for: water, chip refill, drink order. Very respectful young man. The menu has a nice dose of basic Mexican-style foods from street inspired tacos to high-end steak dinners. They also have a Santa Fe inspired portion of the menu. One thing you notice right off the bat is that they do have a good selection at each price point. Bottom line I'd say come out and visit, this particular visit was the Flower Mound location. They start out by bringing a bowl of chips and a green tomatillo dipping sauce, and a red sauce with green mixed into it. It's pretty good. Kids menu I think is $8 which includes one soda (refills extra) and also a nice treat of sopapilla dessert (two soaps with cinnamon, brown sugar, and honey). My 11 year old got the quesadilla and it came out with the cleanest cut slices I've seen and you can tell this place pays attention to details. My wife ordered the artisan shrimp street tacos. Comes out in about 2-3 bite side tacos with a very clean slice of avocado on it and three shrimp on each mini tortilla. There were four served with a side of black beans and rice. (Baja shrimp tacos $17). She ordered a margarita on the rocks with salt and it came out with what tasted like mostly mix. The ice cubes weren't melting much so not sure if there was any alcohol in there at all. She then ordered the house specialty drink Hell Freezes Over. The drinks are the only are that kept it's from being a five-star review. The Hell drink tasted like it was drowned in hatch chilis and surrounded by that cheap pepper (though black not red) on Michiladas from the convenience store. The dry ice was pretty cool as it comes out bubbling and a haze of smoke coming out at the bubbles pop. It's a shame to ruin good tequila with too much other stuff sometimes and for a $14 drink I'd say pass on this one. I was intrigued by the Santa Fe menu, having great memories of my first ski trip to Taos, where we visited Albuquerque and Santa Fe on the way. Loved that red and green sauce choices and so the deciding factor between the ox eyes enchiladas and guise was the sauces. The Ox Eye comes out with two blue tortilla enchiladas topped with two fried eggs (the ox eyes I believe) and then surrounded by green chile sauce on one side and red sauce on the other. A side plate of refried beans and rice accompanies and for $16 it's a good deal and plenty of food. With drinks, tips, and taxes came out to about $82. As we were leaving there was already a healthy wait (about 5:45 PM) so at least on Friday it's worth getting there early. read more

In all of my adult years we had to pay before we got our food because the waiters shift was over. He turned it over to another waiter like this is something that is done at a sit down restaurant. Someone needs to teach him this is not ok. He could have turned it over to the other waiter and had them share the tip the next day. Again never seen this ever done before. My family of four came in on Tuesday, August 8th a little before 6 pm. The hostess was lovely and greeted us right away. There was plenty of room at the bar while our table was getting set up for dinner. The bartenders were quick and friendly. I will say pretty close after 6, the bar got full. So I'd suggest arriving around 5 or 5:30 for a seat. We were seated at our reserved time. We sat in a booth close to the big windows. I wish we would have said something and moved more closer to the back or near the bar. The windows put off so much heat, it was impossible to stay cool while we ate. The waitress was nice and helpful. Our drinks and food came out quickly. All delicious! If you order anything with green chilies, you won't be disappointed. Everything was freaking delicious (and I will add that the leftover steak from husband's fajita was even fabulous cold, which speaks to the quality of meat and cooking method). The food is prepared well and even tastes decent with good service. But at least for me, that superficial sensory veneer is where the joy starts and ends and the real review and gastrointestinal nightmare begins. Usually, when patrons want to relive their culinary experience, they don't want to do so with their heads or backsides in the toilet. The first time I ate here, I spent hours in the bathroom and in bed. Giving the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, I chalked it up to something else. But after the second time? With the exact same result I have to say it's 100% sus, and no, there will not be a third. My best way to describe the food will be modern Mexican/Tex Mex. it's fresh but portions are on the smaller side, so you may want to order an appetizer as well .
