Wow...previous reviews describing it being "bland" were DEAD ON CORRECT. My wife and I went there for my birthday and were just overwhelmed with "meh" from the Sopes De Carnitas appetizer (which tasted like something I would by frozen and boxed at Costco and microwave as snack to watch a football game) to the bowl of queso (which basically was an equivalent to microwaved velveta) and bowl of chips which tasted like a generic variety from Sam's, all the way to our main course. I got the "supposedly" spicy Tradicional grilled skirt steak street tacos that barely woke my taste buds. The corn tortillas had more flavor. My wife ordered some grilled chicken fajitas dish that was so "mailed in" bland that we forgot what the Mi Dia called it because it was pointless to try and remember. I even ordered a drink that was described as a Mexican version of the Moscow mule and ended up tasting like an 8yr old's attempt at making a Pimm's cup. Folks, the best way I can describe it to others in short is eating "Meh"xican food but at Gloria's prices. And after getting that bill I deeply regretted we didn't go to Gloria's in the first place. Now, I can say there was something that did taste good and it was their green tomatillo and red salsa that were meant for the chips. I was tempted to ask for a whole jar just to smother over my meal but then I figure at these prices my wife and I shouldn't be working to make our meal's taste better. I did notice that none of what we ordered were any of the Mi Dia's "signature" dishes so maybe that's where we went wrong? Too much effort in trying to upsell the menu and drinks. We ordered their House margarita and were lectured about the hundred other tequilas they serve at the restaurant and were informed that ours was the bottom of the barrel! HOWEVER the worst part of this visit was every other single song was JUSTIN BIEBER and it completely ruined my appetite. To those listening that matter PLEASE reduce the amount of JUSTIN BIEBER so I can enjoy my me. Update: Went back yesterday 7-31-2020 and Bieber was GONE! However MiaDia is serving drinks from cans unless you have tea or water. I was disappointed they didn't mention that before bringing it out and charging $3 per bottle. I understand if your reason is because of COVID-19 but get your guests an option up front. Don't just bring it out and say nothing. That's super shady. So for that alone I'm dropping them by one star. It's on the principal of a bait and switch. And before I get crucified for this post my waiter was NOT the only one doing it because the waiter and the other table didn't mention canned drinks for $3. MiaDia is making enough money to be honest or just serve drinks from the machines and bring out a new glass each time. What's the difference in that and pouring water from a pitcher and touching the rim of your glass and 4 or 5 other peoples at 4 or 5 different tables. Well, it makes me sad to write this review because I wanted to like this place more. I've been a few times and like it but last week I went for lunch and three of us had some weird "mistakes" on our bills. Two of us had the wrong price on our bill - the reason we were told was because we were ordering off of an old menu... riiiight... and they thought we wouldn't notice. It was just $1-$2 added but not a word was mentioned until we questioned it. Another person was charged differently after their initial check- the first bill was correct but after they swiped the credit card and was time to sign on the second bill, the price was different! Apparently they asked for a refill of a soda (before the initial check came) and since they offer bottles instead of fountain drinks, they were charged extra. Sooooo, shady checks here. When this place first opened, they were TOPS. No longer. The final straw. Ordered my dinner, the bar service was nice. Not great. My meal was delivered cold. When I talked to the manager Tyler Lee he was short, and rude. When the meal returned, it took over 20 minutes, and seemed as if it was placed in the microwave. My wife was done with her meal, so I asked for a meal comp. Tyler was not willing to do this. I told him he could remove the plate I did not want it. He was very very belligerent towards me and my wife. Very embarrassing for everyone involved. We were given a bill by the bar tender for the meal my wife. I paid in full, along with a generous tip. Thinking the bar tender comped my meal. However, today I was looking at my bank statement and realized that Mi Did had charged my account over triple what my receipt was for. First off let's get the atmosphere and ambience out of the way: if you've been to one Mi Dia, you've virtually been to all of them. That's not a bad thing though, the architecture and design of the place is top notch. If you want to impress someone in town from out of state without spending an exorbitant amount for food, you take them here. The service is what takes this from a 5 star to a 4 star. The service was not necessarily bad, just incredibly slow. And this seems to be standard at Mi Dias all over the metroplex. I'm guessing it's due to the unorthodox layout of the place, it's hard to see what the diners are doing in their booths and thus it's hard to come at a timely manner for the respective task. The food however is phenomenal. No complaints in that department. The queso is literally THE BEST no -frills no-thrills queso I've ever had. (Disclaimer: Queso with hot sauce or guacamole incorporated in it are counted as frill-filled queso and I think I'd put Torchy's Tacos queso above this one as a result. Maybe. It's close though) For the entree I'm unoriginal and boring and as a result I ALWAYS order the Chimichanga which is tied with Abuelo's as my favorite chimichanga. Though judging off of the last few times I've been there, Mi Dia's chimichanga is better. I have tried a bit of the Santa Fe Quesadillas (forgot the exact name. Had a complicated name) which were so flavorful and unique especially for a Vegetarian Tex-Mex dish. Overall the food is a 5 out of 5. I really want to come by for lunch as soon as possible and try their chipotle chimichanga. read more

I'll start by saying the food is great and the chips and salsa were just as good. We went during dinner on a weekday and thought the service was extremely slow. It was clear the wait staff was struggling. Although our waitress was excellent, when she was actually around. Refills were not frequent either. The set up inside was not great as there are some tables that will nearly blind you with sunlight that is unvoidable due to no blinds. Make sure you get a seat away from windows if that is a concern, the staff gives no warning on that issue. My biggest negative with Mi Dia is the prices. It's quite higher than the average cost of good quality Tex-Mex. I'd probably eat there again, but if we experienced the same service as last time then I'd probably scratch (pun intended) Mi Dia from Scratch off my list. Looks like a good place for drinks later in the day, however. read more

We had a terrible experience at Mi Día. They shoved all 5 of us into a space meant for 3-4, max. Then, we waited for the waiter for a long time. In front of us, the host and hostess decided to give each other massages and were way too touchy in front of the small kids. The waiter was snobby. When we got our food, it was bad. My huevos rancheros were inedible. I know this dish, and it wasn't huevos rancheros, especially because the eggs weren't cooked, but runny! And, the bill was ridiculous for what we got.
