Mi cocina is just ok.  We went on a Thursday night and it was very packed.  I got the veggie fajitas with no mushrooms.  I expected to see zucchini, squash and carrots.  While there were zucchini no squash and little bit carrots.  For some reason there was cabbage.  It didn't come with sour cream and guacamole.  The sour cream was extra.  I also got the sunset sauce which people rave about on the side. It was just spicy queso to me.  The sunset sauce also costed extra.  For the price I paid I feel as though there are better places in plano for veggie fajitas. read more

It was a pleasant surprise walking into Mi Cocina. The layout was very comfortable and the full bar was impressive. As I was following the hostess to our table I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Ninjas! Okay not ninjas but a guy who appeared with chips & salsa before I was tucked nicely in my chair. I noticed that this was happening with every new table being sat. Then I watched these guys rush to a table that needed to be cleared. It took no longer than a couple of minutes after the people stood up to leave that they were there cleaning the table. I was in awe. I never knew a restaurant could run so efficiently. Our waiter showed up pretty quick as well. I wish I could remember his name. He was nice & on top of everything. Food. We ordered queso & man o man. Oh Lordy. Steak fajitas! The steak couldn't be more tender. I like the fact that the steak was cut thin & cooked perfectly. The taste was out of this world. The fixings were fresh & plentiful. I was disappointed that sour cream & cheese wasn't included but I did ask for them & he was happy to bring me some. Oh yes. I have to mention the guacamole. It is one of the best I've ever had. The huge chunks of avocado were plentiful & so tasty. Huge thumbs up. Another surprise was having my water refilled. It stayed full by any waiter who saw we needed one. Something that doesn't usually happen anywhere else. I also noticed the manager walking the floor. She was helping out when necessary which is something I don't see nearly enough. What a wonderful lady to talk too. Thank you Liliana Marin for showing such pride in what you do. First off, mi cocina is one of my favorite restaurants. We came here expecting to order to go due to lives; however we were able to find seating at the bar. The service was superb. We were in and out in less than 30 mins, which was perfect. The tacos were delicious and they also brought us complimentary chips and salsa to go. the manager here consistently lets non service animals into the restaurant and allows them to sit on the chairs and tables. a huge health code violation. since the manager has failed to do ANY kind if research i will do it for them. only service animal are allowed in a restaurant dining room. the disabled person canbe asked two questions: 1) is the animal required because of a disability, and 2) what tasks is the animal trained to perform? dogs must have 4 paws MUST be on the ground UNLESS performing a task. you can request the removal of a service animal if it is out of control and its handler does not take effective action to control it, or if the animal is not housebroken. Unacceptable behaviors include biting, growling, uncontrolled barking, jumping on people, or running away from the handler. If a service animal is removed, the individual with the disability must still be offered the opportunity to obtain goods, services, and accommodations. now that ive done the research for management hopefully theyll be better equipped. next time im calling the health department and requesting corporates number. read more

I was surprised to see they had vegan options! I tried their vegan avocado tacos. I thought it was fried avocado inside but it was straight up avocado with pepitas, jicama and seasoning. Having dined at this location before a few times, after an appointment in the shopping center I decided to stop by this location since they're generally one of the better Mi Cocina locations, and today did not disappoint! My mother and I were seated very quickly and our waiter was with us fast. The ambience in the restaurant was nice and relaxed, the setting is upmarket but casual, and noise is never too high. The food was delicious and was out quickly. My fajitas were perfect and my mom loved the tacos she ordered. Portions were perfect and worth the prices charged. Our waiter was also great, we never had to ask for refills and he knew exactly when and when not to be there. Overall the experience was good and I'll be back again soon! read more

The food here is quite excellent, and the servers are very friendly and pleasant. However, the bar is horrific. I ordered an Old Fashioned--one of the simplest drinks in the world to make--and received a cup of some unidentifiable liquor with no mixers. I took the drink to the bar in order to have the bar remake it, and the bartender made the same so-called drink. I'm not sure what Mi Cocina is teaching its bartenders, but it should consider including the Restatement of Contracts in its bartender curriculum due to the fact that myself and every other aggrieved customer has grounds for a breach of contract lawsuit against the restaurant. Separately, $19 is an unreasonable price for chicken tacos. read more

Mi Cocina is a staple, it's tried & true in my book. My favorite location is Richardson, but the Colony and West Plano (this one, not Legacy) come close for superior food quality and service. The extremely busy ones like at the Shops can be a huge letdown. I normally go for the Tex Mex combinations and a frozen concoction. Salsa is on the less chunky side but can REALLY pack a punch on certain days. To be completely honest, nothing on the menu will blow your mind. High stars for being a reliable spot when I'm not feeling too adventurous. This was my first time at Mi Cocina and I definitely enjoyed the experience. The food came out fast and was very tasty. I had the beef enchiladas and it was a very good portion and I had some left over for dinner. I absolutely loved the salsa, it had just the right amount of spice. The staff were all very friendly and though I was very underdressed they treated us all just the same. I've been to plenty of places that look down on you but this wasn't the case. We normally love going to Mi Cocina and have been at the Campbell location many times before. However, coming to the Preston location has presented more problems on more than one occasion than I care to have. This time around, we were seated quickly and our waiter walks up. We recognized him because he had waited on us before, and apparently he recognized us because he was shaking his head and looking down while approaching us. The last time we were here, he made fun of how young I looked and how old my boyfriend was (he kept calling my boyfriend "old man" last visit), but despite the "teasing" we gave him a good tip anyway. We ordered water, and next thing we know a different waiter comes out, doesn't introduce himself, and hands us our water. Before he started to bolt off, we ordered the sunset queso to start. We were confused but ready to eat, so it was no big deal. The unidentified waiter comes back with our queso, which was super tasty as always, and then we ordered our meals. I ordered the Enchiladas Verdes, and my boyfriend ordered the Sunset Enchiladas with one beef and one chicken enchilada. The waiter brought our food, and we dug in. Much to my reluctant surprise, when I tried cutting in to my enchiladas (they are fried to crispness) they were rock solid. I have ordered this dish several times before, and they have never been that tough. With a knife I could barely break through them. There were soft spots in parts of the enchiladas, but I mangled all three of them to get some of the chicken inside. Even the chicken inside was brown and burnt, and the chicken that wasn't burnt looking was dry as a bone. I didn't want to bother the waiter anymore because I was already displeased with them and didn't want to make a fuss. But, my boyfriend complained to the waiter that they were over cooked. The waiter tried playing it off as how they are supposed to look and taste, but I knew better. I told them I didn't want another plate. Soon, the manager came over and wanted to make sure everything was okay and he wanted to give me another plate of the same thing. I told him no thanks, so he comped my meal. At least they tried to make it right, and least my boyfriend's meal came out well. We got our check, and we identified one of the waiters as Alfredo. We're not sure if the first or the second waiter is named Alfredo, but it doesn't matter much because I wouldn't want to have either one of them to serve us again. Nevertheless, we paid and tipped our 20% and walked out. We will not stop going to Mi Cocina, but we will definitely not be coming back to this location. read more

We had a great experience at Mi Cocina! I had a Dilemma Margarita, which was half strawberry and half mango. The strawberry just tasted like tequila, but the mango was delicious. I would definitely opt for the regular mango margarita next time. We had brisket tacos and Ernie's chicken, which were both delicious. The poblano cream sauce on Ernie's chicken was incredible. We had the chocolate tres leches for dessert. I'm not usually a tres leches fan but it was really good! Unfortunately I can't remember our waiter's name, but he was super kind and funny.
