Mi Cerrito was very busy when me and a friend went in. I ordered street tacos and they were so dry but had flavor. The margarita was very good and hurt. I'd go there just for the margarita but not necessarily for great food. Service was average. read more

When I feel like Mexican, Mi Cerrito is really the only restaurant that comes to my mind. Since moving to Delaware, I have enjoyed numerous meals at Mi Cerrito. The chips are always hot, the salsa cool, the ranch spicy, Mi Cerrito does a great job. I first came to Mi Cerrito when I came up to interview for my current job, I met the person interviewing me and her spouse and they suggested getting a combo with a Chile relleno and wow it's stuffed with cheese and deep fried. The best part of the Chile relleno is the cheese oozing out after cutting into it. Service is always very good, I recommend ordering a combo with a Chile relleno and you won't be disappointed! read more

I want to make clear that the server was lovely and very attentive and helpful. I give her a very high review! My negative review really has to do with the food quality and taste. I have been to *many* Mexican and Latin restaurants and this was one of the worst. The chips tasted oily and slightly rank. The guacamole had little flavor and big hunks of hard/unripened avocado. My main dish item, the pork burrito, tasted just weird, and I decided not to finish it. The frozen margarita was bland. The best thing I can say about the meal was the beans and rice were okay. It is rare that I have to take so many antacid tablets after a meal, but this one required it. Next time I'll go back to the Mexican restaurant in downtown Delaware! read more

The salsa is flavorful and they offer free refills If your vegan, the menu is more limited than you are probably use to seeing. But, they can do some off menu work if you want. Fresh, delicious, authentic Mexican food in downtown Delaware. Great staff was patient and walked us through the margarita choices. So many to choose from, each one delicious and fresh. I settled on the Perfecto marg and was not disappointed. Be warned some are EXTRA large. Chips and salsa were great, salsa not too hot but full of flavor and the chips were crisp and hearty. We ordered table side guacamole; have it your way, they add as much or as little of what you like in yours. I couldn't decide what to order so of course I ordered something not on the menu; carnitas tacos. The waitress was happy to place the order without any problem. They do have a large carnitas burrito that looked delicious as well. The pork melted in your mouth, cooked with the perfect adobo and seasonings. All the portions were very generous, each of us had leftovers to go. A great little find, I'd be happy to return. read more

Everything was fresh, and delicious! Combination #8 was a great meal: traditional rice and beans, a chicken tamale, and beef enchilada. The service was friendly and fast! This place is kept very clean, and even though the Super Bowl was on staff was buzzing about refreshing the dining room. They have some great beers, and it was a big plus in my opinion that they have Tecate. I recommend Mi Cerrito with great enthusiasm, and I can't wait to return! read more

I don't get it. This place is awful. I think if you're from the Midwest or maybe the east coast this seems like okay food? Ate here three times. Service is great. Drinks are pretty good. Food is literally disgusting. Items always missing. Food was freezing cold both times. Beef "burrito"; ground beef and NOTHING else wrapped in a bland, store bought tortilla, COVERED (why!!?!) in a sweet tomato sauce much like sugary ketchup, making it taste even worse and turning it into a soggy mess. If you choose "cheese sauce" they make your burrito soggy and gross with a sauce that tastes like generic jarred Alfredo sauce. Chips taste like they're from a grocery store, salsa tastes like it's from a can. Rice is sweet and WET (?). Beans taste EXACTLY like Walmart canned refried beans. Have they not heard of lard? Maybe it's because I'm from the west coast and spoiled. Not only does this taste NOTHING like real Mexican food, even for whatever it is (if I try to just take it for the odd food it is) it's still terrible. Texture, flavor, temperature, quality: I can't even do it. Twice now I've spent $20+ on a meal I threw in the trash at home. They're so nice that you can't even complain. They'd have to change the entire menu and their suppliers to make it better. I may go back just to get drunk but you could not pay ME to eat this slop again. If you have actual taste or have ever lived anywhere else, beware of this place for "Mexican". Go to Taco Bell. It's fresher. read more

A small group of four of us went for dinner. I first want to say the service was great! Very friendly and good humor. The wait times were a bit long but nothing concerning. We got a starter of the Queso and portion size was small for the price but it was tasty! Margs were good but not the best I've had in Columbus area. Food was similar: good but not the best. I will say that the jumbo shrimp were bug and tasted fresh, so bonus there! I've heard lunch is a great bargain and portion size :) if you're in the area it's worth going to but not my favorite Mexican. read more

Delaware now has four Mexican restaurants and the good news is that the additions have taken the overall quality of the food to new levels. MI Cerrito debuted on Father's Day weekend and offers "made at your table" guacamole which is pretty good. Though after paying for the show ($7.95) once we just ordered up the side order ($3.95) and enjoyed the great flavor. The salsa tastes fresh and the temperature varies but is usually on the spicy side. Only complaint I've had is that on occssion the tortilla chips can taste burnt or stale depending on who you ask. They offer a lunch special of buy one get one half-off with the purchase of two drinks and we've enjoyed the combos. I have to admit the taco meat is by far the best I've had anywhere -- and they use it in their all their beef products. Very much worth the visit! read more

Tried this for the first time on a Sunday night. Of all the employees serving, we got the one good waiter, apparently. He was younger than the others of Mexican heritage, and took good care of us. One of the other servers, a woman who mainly bussed tables and brought chips and salsas to the tables also seemed conscientious. The rest of the staff, uh, not so much. We even heard one of the older servers speaking loudly to another waiters, in Spanish, cursing about a family with children dining there. As if no one else knows Spanish! Lots of us understand Spanish, especially curse words and references to gringos, to put it politely. A real turn off. Dear owner, if you want repeat business, have your staff treat customers attentively, and with respect. The food was good, and on behalf of the two conscientious servers, we will be back to see if this was just one off night. Giving four stars as a benefit of the doubt. read more

This use to be my favorite restaurant in town. But a couple years ago they were closed for a while -they said for health reasons- and when they reopened they had major changes and ever since it, disappointingly, hasn't been as good. The service hasn't been as good such as -slower and less friendly, the food not prepared as well (like consistently burned fajitas, etc), and the prices are higher. There are two downtown Delaware Mexican restaurant local establishments that I wanted to visit. I chose mi Cerrito first and now the other better live up to at least coming close to how excited I am about mi Cerrito. I was there at a weekday lunch time and luckily I got there with a friend just before the amazing crowd invaded the entire restaurant. When we got ready to leave, the entire restaurant was full. I think maybe three bar stools and maybe one booth were empty; the place was packed. Now, if that crowd doesn't tell you as much as you need to know about the food and service anything I have to say is useless. Number one, I wanted to try the chili relleno to see if it even comes close to my expectations. It really was so so good it and hit my expectations and went far above it. I had read and heard about them making an avocado type of guacamole at the table and we did not choose to do that so I have no response to those exciting comments. My disappointment and I think part of it is my fault that I didn't truly request or make a strong enough request I guess to get an extremely hot salsa or sauce on my chile relleno and cheese enchilada. It was not spicy enough for me at all. The beans and rice that I had we're okay just like any prefab Mexican restaurant beans and rice. Each restroom is still labeled individual gender and each must only be a one stall type with an interior sign saying lock the door because it's one person only. Service was efficient and appreciated. Pay parking in the lot to the east of the building is quarters and I believe a 10-Hour maximum. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED WITH NO QUALMS read more

I've been here several times. It's always been very good. I've order everything from plain ol tacos to fajitas to a vast amount of burritos and specialities. Of the times I've been here when it was packed, the service staff has always been turnin and burnin making sure the customers are taken care of. Their margaritas are also very good. Good price for the pitcher and strong (in a good way ha.) I love the chicken chimichanga the most. Very nice decor, rustic with a feel like you're in a legit Mexican restaurant. Mi Cerrito was a really cute family run mexican place in downtown Delaware. Things I really liked about Mi Cerrito: 1) Really friendly staff who put the customers firsts and really work hard. 2) Family friendly. 3) The BEST chile rellenos I have ever had. 4) Really excellent salsa and nice thin crispy chips. 5) The boyfriend really liked the chimis! Things that were lacking: 1) Almost impossible to get a drink from the bar because they didn't have a bar tender, servers were tending drinks. 2) The poor host was having to do too many jobs. 3) The worst tamale I've had. Very dry and flavorless. 4) Worst margarita I've had. It was very watery and had not tequila taste. Overall, I would go again. This place has heart. The employees really care. They gave us a gift card to ensure our return with a sincere apology for the long wait and we ended up being seated at the bar. We weren't upset and found our server to be great. So, it was an over the top guesture, we appreciated. They have redeeming menu items. Just skip the margaritas! read more

And we now have a new #1 in Delaware. Authentic Mexican food. There is no truer test for goodness than ordering carnitas or carne asada and this place passes with flying colors. Table-side guacamole is good, but needs more avocado (could have asked for it I suppose, but it did not occur to me at the time). Refried beans are sublime. Smoky and wonderful consistency. We just moved to Delaware a few months ago, and we walked in expecting this to be your standard Mexican restaurant and were blown away. The service is phenomenal, the food is great, and when they have the table-side guacamole going it's unreal. It's definitely a step above your traditional quick Mexican meal. Found this place on Yelp and had several good reviews. And so here comes another one. Came in and was immediately seated. The music playing through the restaurant could be heard but not blasting to where you couldn't have a conversation. Hot chips and salsa came seconds later before my seat even had a chance to warm. The menu is the same as any other chain type Mexican place. I thought the prices were reasonable. I ordered a lunch portion of mi cerrito and it took a few minutes to cook. It came out fresh and hot and didn't appear to be pre-made or sitting in the heat lamps. The food tasted as good as it looked. Staff was friendly and attentive but not over bearing. DOES NOT SERVE BOOZE ON A SUNDAY, REPEAT, DOES NOT SERVE BOOZE ON A SUNDAY. That aside, the food is great. Margaritas (not on Sundays) are superb and come in small or "size of your head" varieties. This is based on you having a sizeable head, and a penchant for diabetes and being drunk. The prawn chipotle dish, is a lot hotter than you'd think but maintains an excellent taste - it's my new go-to dish. I have eaten with a vegetarian here a lot - they say the veggie stuff is amazing. Personally (being a "normal") I find the chicken great, the chorizo greasy but flavourful and the beef just right. Chips, salsa and weird spicy ranch stuff are all top notch. Service is quick, if a little odd at times - homely "cafe" sort of feel. It won't impress a guest at sight but the food might. As long as they've not frequented Mexico or San Diego. Generally Good. For Delaware, amazing. I've added another star. I've been back every week since.....the food is good. read more

Like others - I had high hopes for this place. Read that it was authentic.... apparently the people who think so haven't actually been to Mexico before (not authentic). Service is slow - especially for a mexican place (slowest mexican in town). It seems to be a favorite of the very loud crowds.... as in yelling at each other - makes for a very loud night. It's not bad... but basically what you expect in a mid-sized midwestern town (nothing to write home about - that's for sure). read more
