This is an odd review. This restaurant is in a quaint little house set sort of off the main road. We were traveling through and it had great reviews and we decided to go local for lunch. There were people eating outside and we signed a sheet with our names to check in. There was a sign on the door that said they were short handed so please be patient with them. Long story short it took a long time to get in, order and be served. Once the food arrived it didn't matter, I ordered the taquitos, my husband had chile rellenos and my brother in law had the enchiladas. I am not exaggerating when I tell you it was about the best mexican food I have ever eaten. Delicious, ample portions and beautifully presented. We licked our plates clean. So, if you are not in a hurry or have anyplace else to be, do yourself a favor and slow down long enough to eat at Mi Casa, you won't be sorry. read more

What a treat. This small but mighty restaurant did not disappoint. We were vacationing in Tucson and sightseeing in Tombstone, I yelped to find a good Mexican restaurant. This little gem popped up. The plates of food and good reviews brought us here. We drove by it twice because it's set back from the street. Maximum occupancy is 28! The locals dined here and outsider's we're bringing their friends. We're so happy that we found this restaurant. The eclectic ambiance was charming, the giant plates were impressive, especially with the delicious food placed upon them. The pork burrito was an explosion of tasty goodness as well as an appearance that matched! My salmon was fantastic. The carrot cake was sublime! My husband and I went out to Benson for the day and a friend recommended a few places to eat in Benson. We decided on Mi Casa. It was a bit set back from the street so at first we didn't see the restaurant. The parking was ample and convenient. I think the restaurant is a converted house. The colorful decor, artwork, and music are perfect for Mi Casas and make you feel at home. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The bathrooms and establishment were very clean. The food was flavorful and authentic. The portions were good size, the plating was beautiful and the dining experience was first-rate. The service was accommodating and friendly. Man I have so many good things to say about Mi Casa. There is absolutely a reason why they have so many five-star ratings. Everything was so delicious!! My husband and I opted to sit outside, as the sun was going down and the heat wasn't bad. We didn't really see the inside, so I can't say anything to the ambience inside the actual restaurant. We sat in a gazebo, which was quite lovely. It was kind of hard to find when we were driving by, but you're looking for a bright, royal blue building. Once you know that, you can't miss it! My husband had the quesadillas con dos amigos, which consists of both chicken and steak quesadillas. It's actually under the appetizers section, but he chose that as his meal. It was very flavorful and a good size portion. I chose the shrimp tacos Baja style, at the recommendation of the young man who sat us. They were definitely the best shrimp tacos I've ever had. They're also served with rice and beans, which were quite delicious as well. I was "greeted" at the door with "Can I help you?" SERIOUSLY? I walked into a restaurant and was treated like I knocked on the door of a strangers house! "I'd like to get something to eat." "Well, is it just you?" ""Yeah, just me. Is that OK?" This was after standing inside the door for over 5 minutes while watching the same 2 waiters taking care of their tables. Eventually the younger one addressed me as above. "It'll be a few minutes. I'll wipe off a table for you." The finale was when I decided to get my food to GO rather than exchange any more pleasantries with them. He brought my food in a plastic bag and the check on a tray. I proffered a $20, and he asked me if I wanted any change from what I THOUGHT was a $12 burrito. "I can't even see what the total is.", I replied. "$17.50,", he said. KEEP IT, I replied and walked out the door. Upon arriving home I discovered there wasn't even a napkin in the bag, nor any kind of utensil. I guess if he thought at all, it was that I was gonna dip my burrito into the sauce??? First time here, although was recommended a couple of years ago by a friend. Asked two different servers what they recommended, what was their specialty or recommendations. Both just repeated "everything is good", like I was talking to a programmed robot. I'm not saying everything isn't good, but every place I've ever eaten that really cares about their food is known for SOMETHING - whether it's a style of preparation, regional cooking, whatever. I couldn't wait, so I ordered it to go. Not especially quick, but reasonable time. The guys need to learn to smile! They don't look happy. I'll edit this to talk about the "BIG" grilled chicken burrito I ordered after I eat it. Fingers crossed! OK, I've tried their "Big" burrito. It was a fairly standard sized burrito, nothing exceptional. Definitely a one person deal. I asked for a side of "casa"'sauce, since it seemed to be all over the menu. They must have charged me extra for it, because my one CHICKEN burrito was $17.50 cash price to go. No chips and salsa or anything else. I'm not saying I wouldn't come back, but there has to be a better reason. Maybe someone else knows what their specialty is? After reflection, I think 4 stars was probably too generous, but compared to some of the alternatives I'm going to let it stand as people need to know which is the least bad of the available options. Food is worth the wait. Imaginative, delicious food. Nice atmosphere. Wish it was open on weekends.

What stands out here is the unique ambiance of the place. This had to be a former home of a campesino with two very simple smallish rooms in which to dine. The meal is served on platters, not plates and the meals are abundant. As a follow through on the campesino theme the cups for tea, soft drinks, etc. are rough, painted tin cups. The entrance to the place is easy to miss and pass by so It's wise to have the address in hand and slow down as you see the addresses go by. It's identified but it would be easy to miss by looks and, worse it's a bit recessed from the street. This doesn't shout restaurant. The service was attentive but there are only a couple of servers there. Now of course the most important point of a restaurant is its food. My wife and I have had a few Chile Rellenos over the years and theirs was middling by comparison for us. It was fairly bland. However this place is worth a visit solely on the ambiance(the food isn't bad but doesn't excel) and the fair prices. A lot of people clearly like the food although I wonder if the ambiance is getting the best of some of them. read more

I have always wanted to try this place, but it's only open during the week when I work. But I'm on spring break and my daughter is visiting and I wanted to treat her to a unique Arizona experience. The place is located next to the Rock shop, in a converted house. It looks like many a diner I've visited in Sonora, with bright pastel colors. We visited yesterday (Thursday, 3-17-22) during a late lunch rush. The place is small and the inside only holds 28 occupants, and there is only one canopied table outside in the spacious front yard. I had the spinach enchiladas and my daughter had the chicken chimichanga. Both dishes were served in large plates that could be used as bird baths. The presentation was very artistic. Stopped by on a drive from Texas to California. My expectations are very low for this stretch of road. This place crushed it! The enchiladas were fantastic as was the wrap. On a whim, we decided to try Mi Casa. I passed by without seeing it, as it was a bit back from the road. We were greeted and immediately seated. We have tried this location a couple of times. The first time we ate in the restaurant and I had ordered the shrimp enchiladas special. We were seated behind the front door and the place was packed and the waiter was very busy. It seemed like our food was a bit slow to get to our table, which seemed understandable based on the busy nature of the restaurant. The waiter was very distracted doing most of the work in front of the house. Our second visit was during the pandemic and we order our food to-go. Again, they seemed to be busy, but there were far fewer customers eating in the restaurant this time. We called our order in from home and were told they were running behind and to give them 25-30 minutes to prepare the order. I arrived about 30 minutes later and still waited another 10 or so minutes to get my food. It was hot and fresh though. The waiter was the same person as the first visit. He wasn't overly friendly but seemed efficient and tried to keep up with all his tasks. The food was presented well even though it was taken out in styrofoam containers. I ordered the Popeye Spinach Enchiladas and they were very good. They came with rice and beans, which were ok, but I'm not a big fan of those, typically. They had a little dolphin-shaped tortilla chip included as well which was a nice edible decoration for the meal. read more

The restaurant itself is cute and homey. The name is very fitting. Their food does not disappoint and it is reasonably priced. Around the same if you were to get a fast food meal. I don't live in Benson, but am eager to eat at Mi Casa any time I am nearby visiting family! The food is amazing. As someone with dietary restrictions (gluten & dairy free), it can be challenging to find options at most restaurants, so I appreciate Mi Casa for having options for me. Each time I've eaten here, they've had vegan cheese available to sub into my dishes! The enchiladas are fabulous -- I love getting half red and half green sauce. My family and I are always pleased with a great meal when we eat here! Our service has been great every time, too. The gentleman who works the front (I believe he is one of the owners) is very kind and funny, and we've enjoyed chatting with him. The restaurant has a comforting, homey feel as well. The restaurant doesn't have a liquor license so no margaritas or beer. There isn't any a/c so eating inside is warm & stuffy. The food was bland and not flavorful. My cheese enchilada was lukewarm so the cheese wasn't melted. The hard shredded beef taco had La crema drizzled on the outside of the shell so picking it up was a mess. The staff was cordial, but they were low energy and didn't seem like they were having a good evening. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

My wife and I were visiting family in Benson and heard that Mi Casa was a must try. It is tucked off the main drag will little signage but we managed to find it. Be aware that it is a small place that doesn't take reservations nor does it serve alcohol. Once inside we were seated at a great table for 4, there were 4 of us, in an alcove that was not over crowded as far as packing people in. Our servers were friendly and attentive. We started with some chips and guacamole, both were freshly made, the chips being hot out of the fryer. We then each order a different entree, mine was Chile Relleno which I almost always order at places that seem authentic. The food was outstanding and we all were members of the clean plate club. The only bummer was we were so full we didn't order the Carrot Cake. Next time we go we will be sure to leave room for dessert. read more

We ate here as a party of 7 and were all delighted with the food on offer. Rustic, homemade, traditional Mexican fair. I had the green chili pork chimichanga which was served with rice and beans and a simple garnish and delightful sauce to drizzle at my convenience. The green chili pork was moist, carried a moderate heat and was supported well by a crisp tortilla which was not greasy nor cooked in old oil, which really matters to me, I like to taste my dish not the previous 40. My wife had a mix and match 3 piece with red chili enchiladas and chile releno. All were tasty, her only disappointment was the use of poblano peppers instead of her favorite hatch green chili, that is a personal choice and given we are only a month or so away from hatch harvest season it is understandable the restaurant would use poblano. The red enchilada sauce is very good and carries a decent level of spice while not overwhelming the flavor of the peppers. Our waiter was brilliant and once he understood he could joke around with our party and no offense would be taken, his dry sense of humor shone through, a gem of a waiter in a tiny corner of Arizona.
