Fried pickles (the order is bigger than this, we just couldn't wait!)

Ohh-Holy small town Hallmark goodness! This gem is worth getting off the freeway for! The vibe was totally a "hub of a town, in the Midwest" cafe. Service was small town hospitality welcoming. Get the jalapeño poppers FOR SURE! By far the standout in our group. I ordered the club and had them add pickles. French fries were so so good! Don't leave without getting some chili! No, I don't care how warm it is. Order the chili as a side, as a main, on fries. I don't care, just order it! The price point of the kids meals was a little high, just something to note. And the crust of any pie (we sampled 3) was delicious! But our favorite was the banana cream. 100% worth a stop!

Benson is the gateway to Tombstone and Bisbee. We came to town after a day at the Kartchner Caves. We decided on this restaurant on Route 80, since it's been around for almost 90 years. It must be good right!? And it is. Great lunch menu. We were super happy. Quality food and great servers. Our server Ruby was 5*.

    Starting the day off right.

The ham steak and eggs raised my opinion of this place considerable. It's a good place to stop on a road trip for real food instead of gas station trash snacks.

My friend was hungry so we stopped here on our way back to Sierra Vista. I had never been here because I thought it was only a breakfast and lunch spot. I was surprised to see it open at 5:30pm on a Sunday. The place was busy as the Super Bowl was on all the TVs. The Eagles were clobbering the KC Chiefs 7-0. The loud tvs made it very loud. The noise was the only nwgative thing. Our server, Maggie, explained to us that the restaurant has a new owner (for about two years now) and he expanded the hours through dinner. This was a nice move as there isnt much else open in town on a Sunday night. I had a Honey Mustard chicken sandwich with fries and my friend had the Philly Steak and cheese. We both loved our sandwiches. The sauce with the spinach was perfect. The brioche bun the right style bread. We only had water as we had had beer earlier in Tucson. I will be back! When we left the Eagles were ahead 24-0.

I have eaten at the finest restaurants all around the world, and I did not expect to have the best soup of my life in Benson Arizona.

DH and I were hitting the road and heading home and thought to stop in to fuel up on some food before a long drive. We were asked to wait and may have been forgotten but for a large party that came in after us. I had a chopped steak and eggs and DH had the housemade corned beef hash. The coffee was strong enough to grow hair on a baby's chest so it would certainly get you through any morning challenge. The over medium eggs were perfect. And although the grill marks were beautiful, the chopped steak was overcooked with strong char. Our server was a delight and never seemed to tire of refilling DH's coffee. Nice place with a well deserved reputation. Visit when you're in the area.

Tried a new place for lunch, was great food, good service, and a rustic Arizona restaurant. We will stop in again!

Between the live music and the old historic vibe, I think it's one of the coolest experiences in town! The history behind the place is also really interesting. It's the second-oldest restaurant in Arizona and opened in 1880. The building used to be the Grand Hotel before it burned down in 1882 & was rebuilt, and there's a lot of history connected to it. The food isn't luxury dining, but I've never been disappointed with a burger or sandwich with some onion rings (really tasty btw). My girlfriend also loves the Macho Nachos. Overall it's just a fun spot with good prices, good service, and a Wild West-sized load of character

Even on a Tuesday afternoon in mid-April, this joint was bustling with live music, servers rushing about in their period costumes, and the chatter of happy patrons enjoying themselves and taking it all in. Whether a lover of frontier history, western cinema, or just plain ol' drinking in a genuine saloon, Big Nose Kate's screams, "WELCOME TO THE TOWN TOO TOUGH TO DIE!" Upon entering, our party was seated in a raised section above the main floor near the front windows. It was an excellent spot to see all the action (including a monitor playing the movie Tombstone, BTW) as we perused the menu of appetizers, entrees, and libations. The selection of specialty drinks was impressive, though I opted for a simple "Big Ass" draft pilsner (flavorful and locally brewed). My wife did order a Cowboy Sangria - and it appears wimpy drinks "don't go around here, Law Dog," because she thought it was good but a bit too strong. I actually had to finish it for her. (Such a chivalrous sacrifice!) But don't assume that Kate's is just a drinking establishment; there's quite a variety of eats, as well. Good-sized, tasty looking burgers and sandwiches passed by our table, which were tempting; however, not being overly hungry, we decided to sample a few of their appetizers as we moved on to another round of beers. The Buffalo Wings were good but nothing really special. The Soft Pretzel Basket - actually one HUGE pretzel served with cheese and mustard sauces - was warm, salty, and much bigger than anyone anticipated. It was enjoyed by our entire table. When visiting, don't neglect a trip to the gift shop, which can be accessed from a spiral staircase right in the center of the dining area. Their menu recounts that a part of this underground area was once the abode of the saloon's swamper, and you can even view his living cubby and mining tunnel when below. Of course, there's lots of branded swag available for sale down there, too! Big Nose Kate's Saloon is a must-see stop for Tombstone visitors. Priced aren't exorbitant, portions are generous, and the food and drinks are pretty darned good, as was evident from the satisfied looks of the diners and drinkers around us . You may even be approached by Steve, who offers FREE photos (from your personal camera or phone) with props and piano-top poses - now how can you beat that value? Make it a point to come on in, belly up to the bar, and enjoy the saloon's hospitality.
