Tombstone is the coolest place on my roadtrip west so far. This place rocks and I love the outfits! I'll edit after I eat the pastrami sandwich. But here are the interior and waitstaff!
A must if your going to tombstone! Maybe even watch one of the tombstone movies or Wyatt Earp. And you'll see the history of this bar. Food was fine, service was also great! The servers were dressed in old western gear from that era. You feel like you're back in the 1800. From the piano against the wall to the decor. I highly recommend going inside.
If you want ice cold beer, awesome service, and a western vibe this is the place! Certified bussin!
What a fun bar in Tombstone! I loved the decor and all the staff is dressed like they did way back when. I had the Philly cheese steak and it was quite yummy. I had their margarita and it was sooo good!
And I think we almost missed this one. We were so tired after walking all day and had gone back to the hotel room but we were starving. So we were going to order pizza from another place but and I saw the reviews for this place and figured we could walk back over and grab a quick dinner . The place was popping when we came in, we were seated buy a lovely waitress wearing purple caberet outfit. She was a little older, but a firecracker. Could have been kate herself for all I know. As we were deciding what to eat, we noticed people getting their pictures taken and the nice waitress said it was free all you had to do was ask. So we at the best pastrami sandwiches I have had in a long time and don't forget the home made buttermilk ranch! Afterwords she flagged down a bean stalk of a man who happily took our photos and had wonderful ideas and suggestions to take the best pics we had to tip him 5 bucks because he really was a kind person. Overall make this a must do if nothing else for the atmosphere and the outfits.
Big Nose Kate's is a fun place! The bar and flooring on one half of the bar are the originals. They did a great job restoring everything (there was a fire that took out the top floor of the old Grand Hotel). You can sit for hours and take in the pictures and memorabilia (we did haha). There's a gift shop down stairs near the old mine shaft (they're pretty expensive but it's a neat shop.) We were there for an early dinner. The big 24oz "Big Ass Beer" is only $10! I had the Tombstone Tea (basically an spiked Arnold Palmer - very good!). We shared a burger. It was big! Well cooked and plenty of fries. It was karaoke night. We didn't participate but there were some "regulars" who sang. Very entertaining!
Big Nose Kate's is a place I stop at every time I'm in Tombstone. The service has been great every visit I've had, the drinks are good and cheap. Between the live music and the old historic vibe, I think it's one of the coolest experiences in town! The history behind the place is also really interesting. It's the second-oldest restaurant in Arizona and opened in 1880. The building used to be the Grand Hotel before it burned down in 1882 & was rebuilt, and there's a lot of history connected to it. The food isn't luxury dining, but I've never been disappointed with a burger or sandwich with some onion rings (really tasty btw). My girlfriend also loves the Macho Nachos. Overall it's just a fun spot with good prices, good service, and a Wild West-sized load of character
I'd have to say that if for no reason other than atmosphere alone, Big Nose Kate's Saloon earns its five stars! Even on a Tuesday afternoon in mid-April, this joint was bustling with live music, servers rushing about in their period costumes, and the chatter of happy patrons enjoying themselves and taking it all in. Whether a lover of frontier history, western cinema, or just plain ol' drinking in a genuine saloon, Big Nose Kate's screams, "WELCOME TO THE TOWN TOO TOUGH TO DIE!" Upon entering, our party was seated in a raised section above the main floor near the front windows. It was an excellent spot to see all the action (including a monitor playing the movie Tombstone, BTW) as we perused the menu of appetizers, entrees, and libations. The selection of specialty drinks was impressive, though I opted for a simple "Big Ass" draft pilsner (flavorful and locally brewed). My wife did order a Cowboy Sangria - and it appears wimpy drinks "don't go around here, Law Dog," because she thought it was good but a bit too strong. I actually had to finish it for her. (Such a chivalrous sacrifice!) But don't assume that Kate's is just a drinking establishment; there's quite a variety of eats, as well. Good-sized, tasty looking burgers and sandwiches passed by our table, which were tempting; however, not being overly hungry, we decided to sample a few of their appetizers as we moved on to another round of beers. The Buffalo Wings were good but nothing really special. The Soft Pretzel Basket - actually one HUGE pretzel served with cheese and mustard sauces - was warm, salty, and much bigger than anyone anticipated. It was enjoyed by our entire table. When visiting, don't neglect a trip to the gift shop, which can be accessed from a spiral staircase right in the center of the dining area. Their menu recounts that a part of this underground area was once the abode of the saloon's swamper, and you can even view his living cubby and mining tunnel when below. Of course, there's lots of branded swag available for sale down there, too! Big Nose Kate's Saloon is a must-see stop for Tombstone visitors. Priced aren't exorbitant, portions are generous, and the food and drinks are pretty darned good, as was evident from the satisfied looks of the diners and drinkers around us . You may even be approached by Steve, who offers FREE photos (from your personal camera or phone) with props and piano-top poses - now how can you beat that value? Make it a point to come on in, belly up to the bar, and enjoy the saloon's hospitality.
Big Nose Kate's Saloon was so awesome! The waitresses were amazing, and there's a guy who works there taking FREE Western photos. He'll do all kinds of poses and lets you use his props, too. He was probably the most awesome human we came across all day! The food was really good, and their ranch dressing is honestly the best I've ever had. We had such a great experience and will definitely be returning!
Fun touristy place for lunch or dinner. We sat at the bar and got the feel of the place.... Lively servers and "entertainment " everywhere. Smothered fries hit the spot for a snack. Went really well with the Bloody Mary we had to drink! Bartender was friendly and did not hesitate to offer a double shot!!! Definitely worth the stop for some local charm and laughs.
This saloon on historic Allen Street in Tombstone served up a beautiful dining area, great service from the wait staff (in historic attire), live music, great food, reasonable prices and a full bar. Step downstairs to see the gift shop and the former janitor's mineshaft entrance. My Curly Bill's brisket dinner was served with a smile just 10 minutes after I ordered at the table. Everything was delicious, including the lean brisket and warm cornbread. Unfortunately, I was overcharged ($21.99) versus the prices posted online ($19.99) - not cool.
We regularly take out-of-town visitors to Tombstone, and when we do we always have lunch at Big Nose Kate's. Love the decor, the wait staff in period costumes, the live music, and they don't gouge you for the price of food. Their burgers (see photo) really are pretty good though you can only get them cooked well-done. You often see the actors for the shootout having lunch in here or coming in to stir up some business for the re-enactment. Do visit the gift shop downstairs, they have nice postcards, etc. This place does get busy, so if you visit in peak season you may want to come in during off-hours so you don't have to wait for a table.
Our early evening meal here was enjoyable. The menu explains the history of the place and the building. It looks like they were setting up for some live music later in the evening. Our server was friendly and checked in on us regularly. We got three sandwiches. One was a burger with a side salad, one the pastrami with a side salad, and a Reuben with an upgrade to onion rings. The food all tasted good. I would recommend that the kitchen makes sure the side salads are the same size. Our table had two and one was significantly smaller than the other. And we didn't get many onion rings for the additional charge of the upgrade. The meat was all tender. I would've preferred sourdough for my bread, but what they came on was ok. Overall, it was still an enjoyable meal.

Live music. Burgers and sandwiches. Full bar. Waitstaff in costume. We dined here on a Saturday during lunch. The room was packed with people standing at the bar. A very good keyboard player was live throughout our visit singing location appropriate songs like "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers. We were seated by the host with newspaper style menus. The menu includes pub fare including apps, salads, sandwiches, burgers and personal size pizza. There is a kids menu, but it's not really a kid venue. It's quite loud and there are paintings and photos of nudes scattered throughout. Also, no diaper station, just fyi. Food was good and it came out in reasonable time. My bbq brisket sandwich was lean and the sauce well balanced. I upgraded my side to a salad. It was a good portion size and fresh with dressing on the side. There are limited 'sit down/table service' places to dine in the historic area of tombstone. This one is lively, right in the heart of the area. Gift shop on the lower level, down a steep circular staircase, has a lot on offer. Boots to hats and under things. Toys, jewelry, accessories and tshirts. The back room is preserved as it was with a hole down to a mine (that is blocked up now). Restrooms are older but clean, located at the back where you'll find a veterans memorial hallway and atm machine. Parking on side streets or public lot. read more
I would say this is probably the more touristy place to get food here in tombstone, but honestly I would say it's the place to go. The food is pretty good, but the atmosphere is amazing! There is a lot of history and fun stories to be told. I got the award winning pastrami sandwich. It was pretty good, not sure award winning level but J would happily come back! People are friendly, live music is great, and it's just an all around good time. If you could only go to one restaurant in Tombstone, come here!! read more

We popped in Tombstone just after 5. Most shops close about 5, leaving just a few restaurants/bars open. We parked in a lot off of the main street, and walked our way in. We made our way to Big Nose Kate's, and we were seated. There is plenty to look at in this restaurant. Our server came and took our drink orders. A few of us in our party ordered food. The food came out quickly and it looked delicious. The server kept our glasses full. There a few spots in the restaurant where live music can be played, but we didn't have any of that on this visit. I have seen it on previous visits. It's a spot we'd come back to. read more

We were in Tombstone in late June. Walked all over town. It was hot! In the 100+ area of the thermometer. We happened upon Big Nose Kate's Saloon and right on time. Don't know if it was the coldest beer in town but it was nice and frosty. Had a couple of beers and shots. Talked with the friendly staff. And enjoyed my time there. Atmosphere is awesome! My waitress Jasmin was dressed authenticly and cute and helpful. The food was good and very fast service. The pictures hung around the establishment where authentic and of current day dressed up locals in authentic attire for the 1800s.. so much charm and a live band after 5 o'clock. The movie "Tombstone" was being streamed nonstop in the restaurant. It's a bustling atmosphere with waiters and waitresses dressed in the 1800 era. Made it feel like a current day open live saloon. Thoroughly enjoyed our time in tombstone and recommend all of the attractions. Beautiful scenery in the area mountains, desert landscape. Can't wait to come back next year.! read more

Sunday, 3/29/2026 - We ate at Big Nose Kate for dinner. Address is 417 E Allen St, Tombstone, AZ 85638. Cool little place. There s free parking lot about a block away. If you're lucky, you can get street parking. Servers are so sweet here. Stockton took a bunch of pictures of us in cowboys and cowgirl costumes. We tipped Stockton. He don't charge for it. He uses our camera to take it. But we get to use his costumes. Foods were just.....meh... here. But we came here for the experience. read more
The food was good and the beer was nice and cold. We ordered pizza and wings and we were not disappointed. Hospitality was excellent! They made us feel welcomed. I recommend this to any history buff. You can feel the history in this place! read more

Loved this place! Live music, big ice cold beer, good food, fun atmosphere, and just an all around great time. Shout out to our fantastic waitress Leah! She was such a fun and engaging server. She took a cute pic with my son at the bar. We had the pizza, cheese burger, chili dog and chicken salad and we all enjoyed our food. The live performer was terrific! We loved that everyone was dressed in period costumes it really felt immersive. It was a bummer that the hostess covered hers with a long modern day sweater. read more

Great venue, live music on Sun afternoon. Waitress made meal even better, she was friendly, funny and attentive. Ordered tacos, got surprise Mexican corn. Not too expensive. Fam ordered burgers, liked them. They also have dress up clothes and you can take a picture of you and friends/family as Cowboys or saloon girls. I highly recommend. Real fun. read more
The vibe here is fun, the staff and waiters are all dressed up into character. There was live music when we came and some "outlaws" came in to take pictures. Food was good but not great, the Reuben and pizza were decent considering it's a touristy area. The atmosphere is better than the food, but that's to be expected. We had a great time. read more
Fun, authentic saloon with friendly wait staff and good music - even at lunchtime on a Monday! We shared a burger and onion rings - the burger was average but those rings were really fantastic! The cowboy singing was great and the staff encouraged different parties to take cornball photos on and behind the bar - complete with props - a friendly and fun touch! read more

This is a must stop spot in Tombstone. Is it a little kitschy? Absolutely but isn't that the best?! Food came out fresh and popping hot. We started with Dried Zucchini. The ranch was homemade and creamy and delicious. We had several dishes the Rueben, the pastrami sandwich, a Cobb salad and chicken tenders. Everyone was happy with their food. The guys got a big ass beer and opted to purchase a glass to take home. After we ate, we took fun complimentary photos. The attendant suited us up in dusters, hats and guns and we had a great time taking some memorable pictures. Staff was all friendly and welcoming! Overall, a great experience! Stopped in here while visiting tombstone. It was interesting. The staff were dressed up in the era of the saloon. They had entertainment with a guy playing a portable piano. It was a little loud but nice getting out of the summer heat. I had the patty melt which was okay. I believe it was a premade burger and nothing special with the fries. The wife had the cheeseburger and it was the same. Our waitress was great, she kept the refills coming and was very attentive. read more

We ended our day in Historic Tombstone here. There are many ghosts here, and we met two, both non-sentient residual entities. We tried to meet the poltergeist in the basement, but the restaurant was too busy to indulge us. We'll return someday to try and communicate with the spirit of the dead man found in a secret room down below the cellar. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and we had a light dinner with a simple, handmade cheese pizza. Our server was attentive, and we chatted pleasantly for a short while before the pizza arrived. On my trip to the men's room, I felt a presence in the hallway beyond the dining area and looked back to see a shadow on the wall, a shape like an adult male with a slender build. Nothing cast that shadow. It moved as though turning toward me, but dissipated like smoke rising from the wall as a woman left the ladies' room. She was shocked by my expression and apologized for startling me. :) I went to the bar to see if I could buy a t-shirt and excused myself as I walked around a cowboy at the bar. When I turned to look him in the eye for my apology, he was gone, leaving behind a Big Nose Kate's shot glass, which I promptly bought. Kate's closes early compared to most places, so plan your dinner before 5 pm. The kitchen closes at 6. read more

Food - Surprisingly, for a tourist "trap," the food was a great value and tasted pretty good. Service - Our waitress was great. There's a lot going on, and it can be a bit overstimulating. Our food came out quickly, and it looks like the staff understands their role in a place where tourists come to get the "Tombstone" experience. The staff, the musician, and even the guy offering to take photos of guests all seemed to enjoy the tourists and were definitely welcoming. We came for the store and dinning area downstairs mainly. You can find it in the middle of the saloon and there are winding stairs down ward. There is a gift shop and an area talking about a miner from the area who had guarded his silver and could still haunt the place. You can also go upstairs and take some photos of the windows and bar area. read more

Such great atmosphere here! Seems like Big Nose Kate's is one of the more popular spots to eat in Tombstone. They were pretty full but we were able to grab a table for some drinks. They had live music which was great and made for nice ambience. Our drinks were delicious. Sometimes they have someone there, taking western photos of anyone who wants them. Would definitely recommend stopping. read more

Big Nose Kate's is a historic Saloon in Tombstone. It's really cute inside and you really feel like you've stepped back in time. The staff are all in period appropriate outfits and it's decorated from floor to ceiling. The staff were super friendly and service was pretty quick. We happened on karaoke night so it was mostly locals, which was fun to watch watch. The food was OK, not great. I'd give that a 3 star. It's pricey for the portions as it's fairly small. Nothing was great but it was all edible. We tried a burger and the cheesesteak. It was really cute to eat here, but I probably wouldn't be back as the food just wasn't great. If you want to get into the spirit though on your travels this definitely fits the bill. read more

I see that you have a Beyond Meat burger on your menu - that is great! I was wondering if the Beyond Meat patty can be subbed instead of the meat on any of the other style burgers? If it is subbed is there extra cost or straight across sub?
Is Kate's pet friendly?
I would say the answer to that question is NO. I have never seen any pets in all the times I've eaten there. There is a back patio, and if pets are allowed then this would be the only place, but you have to go through the restaurant to enter it.
