We went to thie restaurant because it looked inviteling, but the waitress that works there is very rude, and insulting. She treats her regulars very well, but travelers aren't so lucky. After being insulted we hoped the food was better than the service and it wasn't except for the stuffed French toast was good, but the coffee was weak & the service left much to be desired. Cute, small little restaurant with eclectic decor. Our server was busy but very nice. We wanted some home cooked food instead of fast food on the way to Tombstone. My hubbies breakfast was really good. The vegetable soup is a bit odd but the cornbread muffin was amazing! My chicken cordon bleu was delicious! Crispy chicken with plenty of ham and cheese. Yum! Stopped here with family and sat outside on their patio cause we had my grandmas dog with us and they don't allow dogs inside (for anyone pet owners curious). It was cold but we brought blankets. I've been here twice. The first time was okay- nothing notable. The second time, yesterday wasn't good. Food: omelette was overcooked . Soda was a weird mix . I had the best Philly Steak Sandwich I think I've ever had today!! I asked for a side of au jus which was also absolutely delicious as well. The coffee was strong. The waitress was attentive and clearly well loved by the local patrons. Everything came out quickly despite the sign stating "Slow down, live longer. Everything is made to order" on the wall. We stopped in on whim this morning for breakfast. Could not have picked a better place! We definitely will be back. Very clean, friendly enough staff and most importantly wonderful very truly home-cooked food made with quality. Farmers hash was a delicious variation on corned beef hash. Freshly made with ham and bacon instead of corned beef. Their homemade hashbrowns are wonderful as are the homemade biscuits and gravy. Our eggs were cooked perfectly as ordered. Instead of the tiny packets of jelly, they serve homemade apple butter, which is also delicious. Food came very quickly. And the coffee refills kept coming as well. read more

Great little restaurant in Benson. We arrived on Saturday morning and were seated right away. Only one server was working, so it took a little time as the restaurant got busier. Standard home cooked breakfast options. What surprised us most was the fresh squeezed orange juice served in frosted mugs. So amazing! Omelettes were smaller than I expected but still a good size and delicious. The fruit salad totally stood out with so many kinds of fruit, way better than the standard melons and grapes. Our server was kind and totally understood gluten free. The kitchen was good about being careful. But they don't have any GF bread/toast or anything. Bummer. read more

As soon as you walked in the door. It is a very bad smell. Don't know what it is. It's somewhat a musky smell. Very little air conditioner. Our waitress has a neck fan around her neck to keep her cool. Our waitress just started two days ago. She was nice and talkative to us. We both had soup and salad. My salad was good. Don't know what the soup was. Looks like semi cooked veggies in hot water with artificial seasoning. Did not finish it. My husband got chicken fried steak with French fries. They did not offer mashed potatoes. The gravy was very chalky and sour. It also have sausage in it. Only ate half of the chicken fried steak. I ordered porch chop. They are very tough and was like dry leather. We ordered coconut cream pie. The cutting was weird. There was hardly any crust in my pie. It tasted like Maria Calendar's frozen coconut cream pie. We ordered ice water to drink. Never got a refill. Was drinking my sons water. There is a bus cart/garbage in dining area right where people sit. Not a pleasant site. We pay over $41 for the not great experience. I would not even payed $20 for it. Not coming back. When we left. We both had a nasty taste in our mouths. Been couple hours after lunch, still taste the nasty food in our mouth. I am hoping we did not get food poisoning. One good thing is that I enjoyed looking at the decor. WoW, what a surprise gem we discovered off the interstate. The day after Easter this place was definitely short staffed, but the woman sitting, serving, cashiering and busing the tables was very hospitable, worked extremely well under pressure. Bonus: she recommended the special that my husband is still talking about, in addition, by far, the best cinnamon twist we've ever had. I recommended this place to my family who drive the interstate often. I hope they put the spinach, shrimp, hollandaise omelette permanently on the menu. Great little breakfast spot in Benson. In fact, on the day we were passing through, the only one visibly open for business. Staff was hustling with the crowd, and very friendly and responsive. It was $12 and sat all alone on a plate, just 2 slices of bread stuffed with cream cheese and fruit and French toasted. It was very tasty... but my poor husband was still hungry afterward. But she works hard and is very pleasant. I've mostly eaten breakfast there and everything is very well done and tasty. The Eggs Benedict were exceptional. I'm certain the Hollandaise raise was homemade. Fruit cup is huge and full of 4-5 different fruits. This is a good "local" restaurant. It closes at 2:00 pm so plan accordingly! read more

Everything that we ordered here was delicious! We ordered the slam breakfast special, chicken fried steak and eggs and ranchero eggs. The pancakes were so good! Fluffy, warm and just a little crispy on the edges. The service was exceptional! Dora was so quick and attentive, and our food came out so quickly (and it was pretty packed when we ordered) And yes that apple butter is life! Grab a jar! It's only $6.50 and worth every penny. Great little restaurant that serves real good food. The service is fast and friendly and the ambiance is warm and welcoming. The selection has something for everyone, the home fries are amazing and the eggs are cooked to perfection. The corn bread muffins are moist and delicious but the bananas nut muffins are a little dry and the the cinnamon bun was not fresh and was reheated. What is it with restaurants advertising hours open in their ads but decide to close whenever they feel like it? We were on a trip from Tucson to Tombstone looking for a place to eat and read reviews for this cafe plus they were to be open. We pull up to the front see people eating and discover the cook and server decided to close at 2pm so they could go drink. My DIL begged them to feed us (there were 7 of us) so they said yes but make it quick. We ordered and were served by someone acting like she was doing us a favor. The food was alright. The fruit was fresh and ripe, the homemade apple butter was amazing, pork chops and eggs cooked perfect, the pancakes were delicious with crisp edges and served with warm syrup and real butter and the cinnamon roll was amazing! We drive through Benson almost every weekend. We've eaten at a few of the diners in town & for whatever reason, we usually drive past The Farmhouse. This time we were too late for breakfast at the Horshoe, the reviews for this were good...so we decided to try it out. What we ordered: I believe I ordered the spinach, sausage omelet, Jack cheese, with country potatoes & apple cinnamon muffin, coffee. Better half ordered the Farmhouse Hash, over easy eggs, biscuit & gravy on the side. Pros: we were informed we could order anything off the menu at 11:30 am. Menu is quite extensive & interesting. There were many things we would have liked to experience during future visits. People were very friendly, service was quick, food had decent flavors overall. Place was cozy with the electric fireplaces. They had quite a few customers. Most of them seemed to be local elderly. This place is like eating in someone's Farmhouse kitchen. Bakery case had quite a few interesting options like cinnamon rolls, cherry turnovers, etc. Cons: Prices were high compared to other places like the Horseshoe. Portions were overall, lacking. I'm not sure how many eggs were in the omelet, but it was the smallest omelet I've ever received, by far. Potatoes were rather heavy on the salt. Apple muffin had great flavor, yet the vast middle was raw. Farmhouse scramble was tasty, ham was delicious, potatoes cooked well, eggs cooked perfectly. The dish needed & deserved 3 eggs for the price tag of around $10. Bisquit was fine, on the small side, gravy was on the cold side, tasted flour.. Coffee was 2.79. Rather high. At the end we ordered a cinnamon roll to go. They looked delicious, but once we held the container, we knew it wasn't going to hold up. Air. No weight. Sure enough, tasted like stale white bread on the inside. Very dry, no texture, no chew, no moisture heft. We didn't even finish it. $4.50. I expected to give this place a 4 star, even though I was leaning towards a 3.75, but after the cinnamon roll, a 3 is the best we could do. I truly wanted to enjoy this option compared to the Horseshoe, but it just didn't hold its own. We may or may not be back. read more

We had a great breakfast! The only reason we didn't leave a 5 Star rating is because it took an hour. The waitress was "run ragged" with being hostess to seat customers, waiting the tables, cashier for those leaving & even helping with some of the cooking! With the restaurant very busy even at our 10 am brunch, they could definitely have used more help! We both got one of their specials and they were both excellent food! My hubby got the Blueberry Pancakes and I got the Coconut & Almond Crusted French Toast! How fabulous is that to be a coconut lover & try something brand new & so yummy!!?? We'll be back whenever we come through again & allow plenty of time....or maybe it was just a day someone didn't come in for work? They were light and fluffy and the edges were crispy. The bacon was cooked perfectly.
