Really nice place to stop into if you're in Benson. We came here on a Sunday for lunch (note: many places in Wilcox closed) and plenty of people eating. I had a bowl of their deluxe tortilla soup and loved it! I decided against adding chicken but still the soup was so filling and warming. Very fresh vegetables and lots of avocados too. I'd definitely get this again. My friend had a chicken mole plate and said it wad good but did wish the rice wasn't overcooked but then commented that this seems typical. Bright and colorful restaurant, service was very good, and food was excellent. I'd gladly come back anytime! read more

Magaly's Mexican Restaurant - Deluxe tortilla soup ($14.99) - very good and with no chicken - Mexican Near Me - Benson, Arizona

I ate here years ago and enjoyed the experience. I stopped in again two days ago, a Wednesday late afternoon, after a hike nearby. It wasn't yet crowded and was waited on right away. I ordered chicken mole enchiladas for $16.99 which came out quickly. The mole was delicious but the portion was small. It came with no sides. When the bill arrived, I was surprised it was more than advertised, with an additional .68 service fee that brought the bill over $19 plus tip. read more

We pulled in to a small town named Benson on the road back to Tucson to grab a very late lunch. We Yelped this spot and it did not disappoint. Husband had the birria (soup) with beef which reminded us of a Mexican equivalent of a Korean yukkae jang (spicy shredded beef soup). I ordered the vegetable tortilla soup with a sprinkling of queso and coriander which hit the spot. It was refreshing, satisfying and not heavy. The usual nachos and picante was a reasonable amount for two people. Also liked that their food was not drowning in salt nor grease. **BIG NEGATIVE AND WHY THIS DROPS A STAR** MASSIVE, HUGE CHIP ON THE TOP OF MY BOWL. No bueno, Magaly's. Otherwise, very good, satisfying food. read more

Magaly's Mexican Restaurant - Enchiladas, beans and rice. - Mexican Near Me - Benson, Arizona

Great Mexican food, the combos were excellent, went there during a long road trip, great tasting great atmosphere

Amazing Chili Rellanos! I got mine with the green sauce. The green sauce was very creamy. Cheesy and cooked to perfection.

Shalena being rude to a regular customer is a great way to lose that customer... after at least a 5 minute wait, I turned around to see if a waitress was coming, she yells across the restaurant.."I SEE YOU!", like she was talking to a 5 year old...Totally inappropriate.. I deserve to be respected... I've been a regular customer for over 15 years....I wonder if they still want my business? read more

Food: Hummmm! Where do I start? Bean and rice were good. Cheese quesadilla was good. Bean tostada Senior plate was not good. It lacked flavor, the tortilla was soggy and the good thing about it was that it was maybe 3-4 inches in diameter. It wasn't fresh tasting. It tasted like some from Taco Bell. The cheese quesadilla was large and ok in flavor. Overall everyone's plate was not so great tasting. It seemed not authentic and just down right bland. I couldn't remember the name of the previous Mexican Restuarante we ate last we passed through in Benson- The Horseshoe Cafe is what we were looking for. LOL! As we were leaving town on the east side of the frontage road, there it was-The Horseshoe Cafe. Service: Polite, friendly young lady is server. Prompt with our drinks and came back 2 two to check on us to see if we were ready to order. We were a party of four. She Checked on our drink refills frequently. Ambiance: medium sized sitting area with a wall between the section we sat in; needs an update and $ invested into the building. Bright fun different colors on the varios walls with Mexican decor such as charro sombreros, ceramic parrots and other mediums/materials, ceramic floors. Super casual and super simple Restuarante. read more

Magaly's Mexican Restaurant - Bean tostada senior menu (approximately 4inch circumstance) - Mexican Near Me - Benson, Arizona

We stopped at Magaly's while visiting Benson. There was three of us, older ladies. I ordered the chicken tacos (3), another ordered the chicken burrito and one ordered a cheese crisp. We had waited for about 15 minutes for our order to be taken, even though it was near 3:00 PM and not really busy. The chips and salsa came first, the mild tasted like ketchup, the spicy more like spaghetti sauce and was bland. The chips were hard, mostly broken little bits. The cheese crisp came a good 10 minutes before the other two meals even though it was ordered as an entree. The burrito and tacos arrived on stoneware plates that were so HOT the food was still cooking and smoking. Like fajitas but much hotter. The tacos were on a stand and the shells were so soggy the meat fell out then cooked on the plate. The cheese was burned on the plate. The burrito was too hot to pick up. The plates were still hot when we finished and left. We didn't understand why they were served so hot as it is dangerous so we asked the waitress. She agreed and said we should see the burns under her oven mitts. The chicken was very watery and over salted but otherwise very bland. The waitress was over worked and frantic so not real friendly. Not sure why there are so many good reviews... maybe a bad day? Still don't understand the plates being so hot! read more

We stopped for linner (3pm) on a Saturday. No wait, not crowded, but busy. We were greeted quickly, had our drinks, chips and salsa and ordered efficiently. The salsa was not hot but it was spicy (good). Chips were fresh and crisp. We both ordered #17: beef taco, chicken enchilada, rice and beans. The taco shell was thin, the thinnest I have ever had and absolutely perfect. The flavor is not what Georgia thinks a taco should be but we loved the subtle difference. The enchilada was less amazing but still good. Everything was hot and fresh. Walls, tables and benches were all 1950's style. Real silverware, but plastic glasses. Not loud but noisy. I would recommend Magalys Mexican restaurant for a good meal. Wouldn't impress your in-laws. read more

This place is definitely a 10 star in its food!!! We always stop here when passing through Benson Arizona (we're from Denver). They make a traditional chili relleno that's so good that just thinking about them is making my mouth water. Closed on Monday so we always plan our stop for any day but Monday. read more

The absolute best Chili Rellano I have ever had! They use hatch chili and the red sauce is all homemade. Our waiter was fabulous as well! We will be back next time we pass through. read more

From the moment we walked in we knew this was our kind of place . Packed with locals mid afternoon is a good sign. The hostess greeted us with a warm welcome. Our waitress was great. The food was as good as any Mexican restaurant. Atmosphere was colorful and friendly. My veggie burrito with shredded beef was second to none. My wife's enchilada plate? She loved it Tonight we will switch leftovers as there was plenty to take home. Recommend this wonderful place! read more

Yummy food. Good service. Soup was hit and delish! Nachos were okay. Canned cheese. Three different salsas. The hot was good. Chips were a little bland. Good, local eatery. read more

I will never be coming back to thos restaurant. It's sad because my first time here we were served by the owners and our food and experience was amazing, however, the waitress messed up our order even after being corrected twice while taking the order then said well since you ate the food you have to pay what the bill says which mind you was 5 dollars more vs what was actually ordered. For having limited options in Benson, I'll pay the gas ro spend my money elsewhere. Shitty service and worse attitude. read more

What you want Mexican food to be. 3 salsas that were home made, all 3 delicious. The chips were fresh and definitely not from a package. We both had combo plates. My husband chose chili rellenos and shredded beef taco. The rellenos was crispy where it peaked through the sauce. I had enchilada and beef taco. What a surprise! The sauce on enchilada was not you typical red sauce. This was more like a mole. Scrumptious. The beef taco was crispy with soft, juicy, flavorful shredded beef. I even ate my beans. I usually don't care for them, but these were very good. Excellent meal. Only draw back was that the service was slow. read more

We are newly relocated to Benson Arizona and we tried Magaly's and we were completely impressed. Loved the decor, lots of Macaws and since we have a Blue and Gold Macaw so we loved it. Food was delicious and service great! Decor made you expect the best Mexican food and it delivered

Service was great and fast, people are really friendly but the food wasn't really it, it's like a nicer version of Taco Bell. I wouldn't consider it traditional Mexican food at all. But if you're looking for fancy crunchy tacos and such this is definitely the place read more

I gave this restaurant 2 stars because the description for two stars defaulted to, "Could have been better." In my opinion, the interior could use an update, the staff could have been a little friendlier, and the food? meh... I ordered two shredded beef tacos. The shells were hard shell corn that tasted and looked like Walmart (wish I had taken pictures). The rice and beans seemed microwaved. The beans kind of flattened out on the plate, looking sad. I am going to go back, I HOPE IT WAS AN OFF DAY. It is also worth noting, none of the staff smiled. I hate writing reviews like this, but, it is what it is. read more

Stopped in Benson for the day while traveling through and found the restaurant. Food was great and staff was very friendly. Food portions were pretty large and hearty. Great taste and looked very appealing. I had the chimichanga plate which was pretty large. The salsa was great and had a nice kick. My wife had the taco dish and my daughter had the enchilada plate. First visit. Typical Mexican restaurant. Flavors were there but portions were not very big in my opinion. They brought out two salsas with the chips but they were both kind of hot/spicy. Asked for pico which we mixed in the less hot one and enjoyed the chips with that. Ordered a combo plate with chicken enchilada and a beef taco. The plate came out with rice and beans. The enchilada was so small that at first I thought they forgot to put it on the plate. The taco was yummy. Rice and beans were average. Ordered fried ice cream. I thought it was tasteless but my hubby ate it. Service was pretty good but the place was busy and had to wait for more salsa and more napkins. Also, the check was dropped off with no explanation if she was the cashier or where to pay. read more

Food taste bland, fried (high calories) Slow service, paying for meals requires cash as their preference because credit cards take forever to get through! Not friendly for out of town travelers who do not carry much cash! Duh read more

Absolutely the worst service I've ever experienced in a Mexican restaurant. After being made to wait a half an hour to be seated despite the fact that they had nine open tables, we were finally seated. First, chips and watery salsa were delivered. Our order was taken, my wife ordered the nachos, I ordered an entree. My food came first. By the time I was almost done with my meal did my wife's nachos finally come (now soggy). No one came to apologize, too busy yakking it up with the locals. We will not return. read more

This was an unexpected very good meal. We are from San Diego and the menu didn't have any of the typical things that we regard as Mexican food such as carnitas and carne asada. I was on my way to Wilcox so I thought I would stop in Benson and see how it has grown. Glad I stopped by and got some lunch at Magaly's. I always get the green Chile Plate when stopping by a new place. SUPER good green Chile beef. Beef was tender and sauce seasoned just perfect!! Good, friendly service.
