Build your own bowl

Great healthy food for the right price. Can't go wrong. I ordered a bowl with the lamb kefte. $14 Fast service Fresh ingredients

Mezeh offers up a healthy, customizable dining experience. How can you go wrong, when you chose exactly what items you want in your meal! The selection is plentiful and unlimited in how many you chose (much more than other similar establishments). It's also a great playground for those that are vegetarians, so many choices! I ordered a falafel and vegetarian kofta as my protein. I added too many items on top to even remember, yet alone list. It was a very tasty, filing, affordable, and healthy lunch option.

What a welcome surprise during a work trip to the area. Very nice location and convenient to shopping in the area. Super fresh and wide variety of ingredients and friendly staff. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Leftovers! Bulgur base, crunchy chickpeas, pita

For a chain, this food was really good! Even for a non-chain place, I'd be impressed. Mezeh is essentially the Chipotle for Mediterranean food. There are so many toppings to choose from. I decided on the bulgur with vegetable base, couscous topping, crunchy chickpeas, caramelized eggplant, tahini sauce, chickpea salad, shredded lamb, crumbled feta, Turkish yogurt dip, and chicken shawarma. The bowl was super tasty, and not that expensive given the more than adequate portion and extremely high quality ingredients. You can taste and even see the freshness. The staff was super efficient as well, and the inside of the restaurant is quite nice. The shredded lamb was the perfect texture and was extremely flavorful. I enjoyed the chicken shawarma as well (they also had a spicy variety). The Turkish yogurt dip was refreshing and didn't have an overpowering cucumber flavor. The eggplant was a bit sweet and almost creamy; definitely delicious. Chickpea salad was super fresh, and the crunchy chickpeas were also a great textural addition. Even the base had some carrots and raisins in it that contributed to the flavor. They even give you free pita with a bowl, and it was fluffy and perfect. All in all, this is a great place to get lunch or dinner if you want some Mediterranean food. There are so many options to choose from, and the prices are quite reasonable. Everything is fresh and delicious!

Mezeh is an amazing option for a healthy, fresh, and light meal... for a reasonable price too! While out of town, I decided to check out this restaurant and was overwhelmed by all the options. You start by picking a bowl, wrap, or pita pocket. Then you proceed to pick a base, meat, toppings, and sauce. What sets Mezeh apart is that you can literally order anything you want. If you can't decide on a base, it doesn't matter- you can mix as many as you want! I mixed 3 different bases, and they weren't stingy either. For only $10, you can completely fill a bowl of whatever ingredients you want without any additional upcharges. I essentially ordered almost everything that they had to offer. In addition, customer service here is superb. I can't say I've experienced better customer elsewhere often. The staff took the time to explain everything to us and even made suggestions what to order or what to mix. They allowed us to try certain things before ordering if we weren't sure. They also have a couple of different juices that's included in just a regular soda price. And a side pita comes with your meal free of charge! I was very impressed and would love to come back.

It's so awesome to be pleasantly surprised when you try something for the first time. Just found the place when to popped up on my yelp so I gave it a try. I love the fact that it's one base price and they don't nickel and dime you. The chicken was tasty and hot, you could see the steam flowing off the chicken which is just an awesome thing. Lots of toppings option. And they do have a spicy sauce so try it. The manager was working the register and he was engaging and friendly. Keep up the good work.

No soda fountain during Covd. Only teas and bottled soda.

It is a different time. As local businesses move to takeout, to-go, and curbside service, it is important for us to continue supporting local establishments. I ordered my meal via their website. I had received an offer for BOGO bowl in my email earlier. My order was a build your own bowl. My protein was chicken shawarma in a brown rice base. Their falafel isn't bad if you prefer a vegaterian option. The chicken is juicy and not dry. The flavor provided just a hint of spice that I amplified the flavor. As for toppings, I included Turkish salad, roasted corn and vegetables, hummus, pita strips, feta cheese, and cucumbers. I love the dicotomy of the hot chicken and rice with the cool toppings. All bowls come with pita bread. Most of the time I can fill up on the kids bowl, I only ordered the regular bowl today due to the offer. It's important to support our restaurant businesses now. Order often and tip well. We want them here when this passes.

For what it is, ie fast food middle eastern, it's good; have eaten there multiple times. And will go back again for falafel.

The managing partner also came by our table very casually and friendly- I just googled their bios and its very interesting. So I wasn't sure I would like everything we ordered- I only wanted the beet salad. It was amazing!!!!!!! We also had the dip trio which I liked the hummus best with yummy bread. My daughter, her friend and her mom LOVED the calamari and said it was light and delicious. Lamb kebob was tasty. Desert chocoholic was scrumptious and the lemon granita was light and interesting with homemade cotton candy that we laughed looked like ratchet barbie hair but tasted so light. Absolutely delicious!

SERVICE We came in for a belated Valentine's Day dinner,…read moreand the staff immediately seated us when we got int. Everyone was friendly and professional without being too formal. Our server served us waters and let us peruse the menu. Most spots will have the waiter come by and ask you how things are, and our waiter didn't come by at all after setting down the food which was interesting -- not good nor bad but probably were also busy. AMBIENCE The space felt upscale but still easygoing, which made it perfect for our Valentine's night out. There's no dress code, but most people looked like they'd put a little effort in, matching the polished but comfortable vibe. Loved the open kitchen all the way towards the back by the bookshelf area gave the room some energy without making it feel noisy. Definitely struck a great balance between date-night fancy and laid-back cool and casual. FOOD We started with the Beet Salad Ribbons and the Meze Trio. The beet salad mixed earthy ribbon-sheet beets with hazelnuts and a bright pomegranate vinaigrette that surprised me! Loved the pairing of the beets and cheese and hazelnut crunch. As a texture fan, this really hit the spot! It was colorful, fresh, and really well balanced. The Meze Trio had charred eggplant, a yogurt-goat cheese dip, and a seasonal hummus. Each had its own flavor and texture, and everything felt super fresh and well-seasoned. Favorite was the seasonal hummus. The yogurt-goat cheese dip was good but definitely sweeter than I personally perferred! The Calamari was also quite good and had decent number of chunky pieces that weren't just breading. The only small letdown was the pita bread since we had more dips than pita left. We expected refills might be complimentary, especially for a place like this, but they weren't. Not a big deal, just something that stood out in an otherwise smooth and thoughtful experience! The Manti Dumplings were a highlight too -- probably so much handwork in making these look like they do! The Sharondale mushrooms gave them a rich, savory flavor, and the pepper butter sauce added just the right touch of spice. The burger was also great -- juicy, flavorful, and paired with house fries and an amazing urfa pepper aioli. You could tell both dishes were elevated but still comforting, showing off the chef's fine-dining background in a really approachable way. For dessert, we shared the Baklava Cheesecake and a Chocolate Hazelnut special. The cheesecake was unique -- cheesecake filling sandwiched between baklava. It was delicious but not what I was expected! It was creamy and nutty with pistachio layers, and the chocolate dessert was incredibly rich without being heavy. Both were perfect finishes. We even took home the leftover goat cheese dip because it was that good. Overall, pices were a little on the higher side ($23-$29 for mains, $14 for dessert), but for the quality and thought put into every dish, it felt worth it and would come back again for a special occasion! This was definitely elevated ambience and the food was well executed in our opinion. I can see the hype! Definitely not a spot I'd frequent often but for the special days -- this is it to impress your date or family!

I tend to go here with family when we visit Charlottesville and have other things to do in town…read more(catch a UVA game, movie, etc.). Even when they were very busy, the wait for a seat is rather short. It's mainly four-top seats but they can push together tables as needed. There's music always playing and not a lot of padding to soften noise so I'd call the location "average" loud. Downtown Charlottesville doesn't really do free parking. You can park at the next corner in open parking to the left or paid parking to the right. But we're talking $2 or so, not a bank-breaking experience and with lots of shopping across the street it's worth staking out a spot and then walking the area. What I like: The food is tasty. The appetizers are solid. There's a large enough menu that you can always try something new. And the portions are ample enough to share. What I'm not so fond of: The waitstaff spend a lot of time at the front scrolling on their phones. They aren't too keen on refilling your drinks either. I say this as someone who has eaten here about a dozen times. Also, I don't normally mind cameras, but there are enough blinking lights on cameras to make it feel more like a jewelry store than a restaurant. That said, if you are not in a hurry, want some good food in solid portions, and plan to do some shopping or window shopping downtown, this has been my go-to place for years.

Usually I wait until I've tried a place a few times but I feel comfortable making a review based on my first try since 1) their catering had a variety of options so I know it wasn't just one dish that was bad and 2) I couodnt imagine spending my money to give them a second chance. Really. It was this bad. They catered an event I attended today and I had pita bread, hummus, dolmas, chicken and squash shish kebabs, pasta salad and Greek salad. Every. Single. Dish. Was an absolute let down. Chicken was completely dry and flavorless. I threw the rest of it away. The pita was so dry it crumbled and I couldn't eat it. Surely the hummus would help boost the chicken and pita? Wrong. The hummus was basically ground chickpeas with no other flavor. The pasta salad just tasted like plain pasta with oil. Nothing else. The dolmas were decent (but it's grape leaves and rice, how can you mess it up??) and the green salad was ONLY good bc there was some feta to put on top. The dressing was just straight oil no other flavors. I can't comment on their ambiance, I'm not sure if you can eat inside since it was catered to us. Maybe the place is nice but I haven't been there so I wouldn't know. This is the worst meal I've had in awhile and I do not recommend their food. The others at my table all said the same thing, we were not impressed. Would not recommend.
