Black Angus Roast Beef Spud
Matthew M.

This place's standards were low even before COVID, but I was desperate for a Baked Potato and decided to try my luck. Whatever I was expecting, it wasn't this. The potatoes are burnt, the Edges of the Angus are charcoal, and the smell is like burnt rubber meets roadkill. You don't have to be Gordon Ramsey to know that it's the owner's and the Kitchen Expediter's job to check the quality of an item before it goes to the customer. Clearly either McAlisters' chef is devoid of a sense of smell or taste, or simply doesn't care and isn't worried about their job. The manager could care less as well. She treated the situation as if it was our fault for not being able to go there during a pandemic, or simply not being able to drive. I asked for another, non-burnt Potato to be made, but apparently they don't have a contact with Doordash, so if you aren't able to drive or go outside because of the Pandemic, don't take a gamble on this place and be stuck with burnt food. You won't have a chance to get your food remade properly. It's already barely worth the added fees they make you pay anyways. If you are looking for an even halfway decent Baked Potato, don't bother coming here. If you are looking for a club sandwich that is passable at best, but overpriced, then maybe try your luck. There is no quality control across this entire restaurant, and I clearly shouldn't have trusted them after being let down in the past. So long as the people don't care if their food sucks, this place will keep shoveling it out without caring either.

Half of the club sandwich minus the spring mix

McAlister's was a quick sandwich stop for us. It's conveniently located right off of I-64, has ample parking if towing anything, and outdoor seating. The club sandwich was fine, nothing outstanding for a deli chain. It came with a side item, but unfortunately, a cup of soup was an upcharge of an additional $3.29. That didn't seem reasonable for a cup so I opted for the mac and cheese (which was also okay). With so many other options in Waynesboro, it wouldn't be my first choice. However, we would return if we had the dogs with us and were towing the camper. The lady that waited on us was very welcoming and provided good customer service.

Good food but don't come in at busy times. This place can't handle the volume of takeout and dine-in.

Quality of food is always good. But more often than not my order isn't quite right. Service is always decent. Store appears to be clean.

Food is good but with only 1 person taking the orders on a Sunday at 12:30 things will be slow. Easy fix.... hire more staff. Duh.

This Charming (yes, a capital C) place opened in downtown Waynesboro, Va as one of the first spots to help turn downtown around. With a miss-mash of antiques everywhere you turn, including old china for serving, you can't escape its eclectic creativeness. It has become a staple for brunch and lunch every day they are open. On a recent Thursday I found my self off from work so I met up with a friend for lunch. They were packed, luckily I knew to call ahead to make a reservation. Highly recommend! Although if you don't, they have a large communal table available too. The great thing about SBL is that everything is great. My favorite soup is the tomato basil bisque. I've had a variety of their salads and sandwiches as well and have never been disappointed. But on Thursdays I just learned, they have the grilled salmon BLT. This thing is massive, messy, and delicious. I may be taking another Thursday off just go eat this thing again.

I got mine on a wrap and she got hers on a berry wheat bread toast. Both were excellent! The staff were friendly and attentive! Such a great spot!!

I've passed by this spot a thousand times and never thought to go in--tucked, as it is, in the…read morecorner of a large parking lot and abutted by big box stores, it didn't necessarily call out to me. Well thank goodness I finally decided to nip in to 3rd Generations Grill last evening for a hot meal and a cold beer after a long day. I was quite happy with the experience. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but the dining room is large, open, and features a nice bar at the back with a decent selection of draft beer (sadly no dark options for the porter- and brown ale-loving crowd) and sundry spirits. The walls are plastered with rock & roll posters (they get extra credit for the Ziggy Stardust poster on the left side of the room as you enter) and the space is clean and well lit without being antiseptic and blazing. I think with a larger crowd (it was a bit sparse on my visit) the room could be a bit loud, so if quiet is your thing maybe plan for a low traffic time. After negotiating a workaround for the QR code-based online menu (I deduct a full star if that's my only option for ordering because I think it's poor service), I ordered the Generator burger from my very friendly, helpful, and service-forward bartender. What's great is I told him what I was looking for and he competently guided me to one of the best burgers I've had in a while. Double smashed patty, double bacon, cheese, onion. I added lettuce and tomato because I want to dupe myself into believing I had a vegetable that evening. Comes with side of their hand-cut fries and is a hearty portion of well prepared food. When I say this is a two-handed-eat-over-the-plate-like-a-caveman burger, that's exactly what it is. Thing is a monster of beautiful beef and bacon and cheese (sorry vegans, try again). Oh, and the food came out in good time--not fast food, but good food fast. I have a minor quibble with the fries which, while hand cut and nicely seasoned, were a bit under and kinda soggy. Not inedible, but could be better. I think if they blanched the fries before the final cook they'd achieve a crispier outside with that nice cushy potato centre you want in a French fry. But that's the only quibble. Service: six stars Food: four stars Ambiance: four stars Value: five stars I'll be going back again, for sure. No photos this time because I am a pig man and I tend to eat half my plate before my brain says, "hey! Yelp review inbound!"
