My friend and I came here for brunch on Sunday around 11am. She got there before me and put our names on the list but the line moved quickly. I love a family style diner. Great for people of all ages and reasonably priced for delicious food. I did the Meat Lovers omelette (sausage, bacon, and ham) which came with their home potatoes and biscuit or toast (I picked biscuit). The omelette was soooo good and their biscuits were so soft. I didn't care for the sauce that was on the potatoes but overall yummy and my meal was $10.25! My friend did the pancake platter which came with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs any style, and choice of sausage or bacon. She liked hers and comes here a lot. I got there and it was four of us And the hostess pushed two tables together, and I was sitting there waiting for my other three people to come, and the waitress asked Can I get you anything to drink so I said coffee She bought me my coffee and then she bought a glass of water and she slammed the water cup down and threw my straw so I was like OOOOOK. Then my grandson and his girlfriend came and I told them I said she slammed my cup down and threw my straw, mind you I was the only black one at the time until they came in, people always say you throw the race card, but I'm pulling the race card on this one. She was trying to order for him, rushing him, She didn't write down what I said about my bacon. I didn't want it hard when I got my bacon, it was so hard. I had to pull it to eat it , so I didn't eat it, then I asked for waffle with glazed strawberry she bought glazed, strawberry, whipped cream and I said ma'am, I just asked for the strawberries and she said I'm so sorry. Now it was a table next to us with Seven people we waited an hour and 15 minutes before we got our food. Everybody after us had gotten their food and we were still waiting, the table next to us were getting mad because they had not gotten all their food and then when they got their food it was not what they wanted or she left things out ! She was bringing the wrong food to the wrong table and so we didn't complain to her, then she bought My Son's food and his was cold and he asked for white bread. She bought wheat bread instead of white and then she bought the white bread back, It just looked like somebody had took the bread and dipped it down in butter. It was running all over the place so he was like you know what I'm not hungry so he didn't eat his. I ate some of my waffle, terrible!!!!! How can you mess a waffle up? My grandson ate his and his girlfriend ate hers , so when we got ready to leave, I asked for the manager and she came over. She came over already with an attitude and I said well, The service wasn't good. The food whoever was back there she cut us off and she said Patricia is good she's great, well then if it wasn't Patricia messing up it was somebody in the back and she just kept defending Patricia and said we have had the same cooks for a long time , ( lie) finally I said I don't know who it was. I want good service and I want good food when I pay for it and we all can pay for our food, she said I already took care of it, and I feel we are going you back and forth! Lots of places are missing real diners. This place is open early and the food is very consistent. Expect to get seated pretty quickly except for on the busiest of weekend mornings. Breakfasts are french toast, pancakes, omelets, and the rest of what you'd expect. If you want healthier sides, they don't have as many options and the fruit cup is not my favorite. Lunches and dinners are a mix of standard diner fair and some Greek staples. It is noisy in the mornings because of the open space and all the people, but a little quieter towards the evenings. Seating for two is easy and often a comfortable booth. Group seating for 4 a flat top. Larger groups will get tables put together. It's table service but you pay at the counter. My husband and I come here every time we're in town. Typically it's because the food and service is amazing. Sadly, today was an off day. While we were seated right away, it took ages to be acknowledged. Our server never introduced herself (receipt showed us her name). It took ages to just get coffee and water. Other servers had to give us refills as she never even bothered. My food was mediocre- pancakes overcooked, grits were watery, and the coffee was burnt. Amazing greek diner! Has all day breakfast. Like a good diner, has amazing Greek food. The spinach pie is delicious! The crust is flaky yet moist. The Gyro and Greek salad are out of this world. Filled with feta cheese, Greek olive oil, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers. The service was less than idea. Donna seemed to tired, would be facing away from us sitting at a booth, so we weren't able to flag her down when we needed something. Found myself and my friend starving after Sunday joyriding thru central VA. Glad I remembered seeing this place on previous travels to Charlottesville. My visit on 3/30/2925 at 1:00 pm was my first. We were seated in less than 5 minutes and this restaurant is busier than a beehive for good reasons. We were given our drinks we ordered quickly. I started with a side tossed salad with Thousand Island dressing. It was perfect to take off some hunger pangs. My friend and I both had the cheeseburger deluxe with onion rings. They arrived in 10 minutes. My friends mom's eyes bugged out when she saw and bit into the huge perfectly batters dipped onion rings. A huge smile ran from ear to ear on her face. The onion rings were cooked to perfection crispy and real onions inside were soft any yummy. The burgers were typical but tasty. It hit the spot. From looking around you to other tables the food was plentiful and devoured down quickly. Those waitresses sure were running around back and forth and you can tell they cared about you as a customer! We were in Charlottesville for a Dr's appointment and my wife loves breakfast options, but we were around lunch time. Tip Top showed up as a top recommendation on Yelp! We went and were so happy we did! We only had to wait about 15 minutes, especially considering the crowd of people there and rolling in! Usually a good sign! Great menu options with breakfast all day. It is loud from the number of people there and talking, but that did not distract from our enjoyment. Our waitress was nice, friendly and prompt. Came here at around 10:30 in the morning and it was super packed. My group of 6 had to wait about 10 minutes or so to be seated. Once we were seated, everything moved super smoothly. Our server was kind and accommodating and our food came out very quickly. I ordered a veggie omelet and got a side of biscuits. The omelet itself didn't blow me away, but the biscuits were very good. I personally recommend getting the sausage gravy on your biscuits because it just adds so much to the biscuit. The biscuits were soft, flavorful, and just overall a really good addition. In the front of the place is an old fashioned counter with red swivel stools, or you can chose to sit a a table or a booth. The hostess was rather abrupt, basically dropping the menus on the table with a grunt, but our server saved the day by being polite and attentive. We ordered a delish platter with eggs fried to order, bacon (which was crispy but was served in broken up bits), grits which were pretty good, and three huge amazingly fluffy and tasty blueberry pancakes. My friend got some biscuits with her entree and they tasted fresh and homemade, buttery goodness! The prices were very reasonable and certainly didn't make my wallet groan! The breakfast menu is extensive with waffles, omelettes, French toast, breakfast sandwiches, steak n'eggs, pork chop n'eggs, and even a small kids menu. I'd love to see them get a better tea selection, Lipton doesn't cut it for me. And I saw a pie case that made me drool, I'll have to try their lunch menu too! The owners at the cashier were warm and personable and I enjoyed seeing the wall with all their plaques and restaurant awards displayed! This is a pretty cool eatery. The breakfast is probably my favorite, but their Meat Ball sub, Hamburger, Steak and Cheese and Pepperoni Pizza are also good. The place is always hopping, but the service and prices are excellent. Most of the folks working here have been here for a good amount of time. You can just tell, they work as a team very well.
