It's been a long time since I've been to Chick-fil-A with changing up my diet, which doesn't include fast food. However, with needing to get my daughter to the airport we hit them up to save time. It was my first time at this location in Charlottesville. Parking nearby is challenged when busy, but plenty of parking is available. We did decide to go in with a long line at the drive-thru. Counter service was friendly. I ordered a Market Salad which is my go to these days. I like their grilled chicken. My daughter got a grilled chicken sandwich. I paid with the app and expected to need a reload of money. Much to my surprise I had over $100, I have no idea how that occurred. The restaurant was extremely busy on a weekday lunch rush. I didn't see any issues with anything that would have alerted me to note on a review such as tables that were dirty or trash on the floor. We decided that we had enough time and with the rain to go ahead and eat in quickly. Food was delivered quickly, and the order was accurate. No food issues we both enjoyed what we had and was able to catch up a bit before returning to the car. This was a good stop. So considering it was their busy time and they hit my high expectations for eating out at any restaurant I would say they did very well. I would come back and recommend. read more

Employee morale was low before we even ordered in an empty drive thru line around 5PM. It was not their pleasure, but everyone has those days. I get that. I even conceded the size of my drink and fries would be a surprise, as she didn't ask before pushing us to pay. I was too hungry to care and usually love surprises, but not the ones this experience continued to offer. At the window, we were given our drinks, told that fries weren't ready, and to park and wait for both them and our meal. We did just that. As we pull up, a parked and waiting customer is flagging down the food runner to fix an error. She might as well have used a red flag that we unfortunately ignored. Imagine our, well, surprise, when only our food comes out soon after. No fries or utensils for the grilled nuggets. We wave down the poor runner, tell her about the fries (priorities), and she asks for the sticker on the bag to confirm with the kitchen. I rip off the sticker for her. You can have my patience, but you can't have my food. I'm no longer confident in the chain of custody for my precious cargo when the impromptu fry delivery service is procuring everything but their namesake. She's gone for long minutes. Multiple cars pull into parking spots and leave with their miraculously accurate bounty. The runner returns. She's wary. A small, grease stained bag, is clenched in her fist. It's a hostage exchange. She's been told to check in our bag, that I wouldn't give her, to ensure that we don't already have fries. Like we're enacting some great fry heist and are manipulating our way through various Chick-fil-A locations. Honestly? If we were, we'd be awful thieves to just leave them in the bag, but whatever. We show her the barren bag. She approves. Doesn't even notice the mountain of waffle fries, haplessly gathered in the backseat from all of our successful heists. /j It was insulting nonetheless to have to pass a test to receive the food we paid for, when everyone else left visibly successful and unquestioned. She does the handover. We get the fries. They're all the crappy, tiny ones, as if all that time was spent meticulously picking the worst, just for us. It felt purposeful, strange, and made our visit to consume God's chicken completely lose its luster. I've worked in customer service all my life and was as understanding as I could be in a situation that made no sense. On Wednesday, May 20 around 6:30 pm, heavily pregnant in my third trimester and trying to make it to a pregnancy appointment that evening, I placed a curbside order thinking it would make things easier and quicker. Apparently they don't even begin preparing the order until you physically park there, which already defeats the entire purpose of curbside a bit, but fine. Since I urgently needed to use the restroom, my husband and I decided to just walk in and pick up the order ourselves instead. He gave the employee every detail possible: a curbside order, my full name, vehicle information, and details from the order itself. Somehow she still "couldn't find" the order. After several minutes, instead of actually trying to solve the issue, she basically gave up and told us we must have ordered from another location. So we left. At that point I pulled out my phone, checked the confirmation myself, walked back in, and showed her that yes, it was THIS exact location. Her response? "Oh, well it was curbside, not in-store pickup." ...What exactly is the difference when I am physically standing in front of you, giving you my name, order details, and telling you I'm here to pick it up in store rather than curbside? The order existed the entire time. It just felt incredibly dismissive and unnecessarily complicated for no reason. Mistakes happen, but the attitude and lack of effort to actually help was what made the experience frustrating, especially while very pregnant, uncomfortable, and already on a time crunch for a medical appointment. What makes this more frustrating is that this is not even the first issue we've had at this location. Previously, they completely failed to take our order at the drive-thru. We sat through the entire busy line just to get to the window and be told there was no order. Then we had to place it there at the window and were told to park outside to wait after already spending all that time in line. Another time, my husband went to pick me up a gluten-free breakfast sandwich and still able to order within breakfast hours. The employee taking the order was new and clearly did not know how to enter it properly, which is understandable at first, but the order kept getting messed up over and over for nearly 20 minutes while he sat trapped in the drive-thru line. After all that, once she finally understood the order, she simply said, "Sorry, breakfast is over." We already brought these concerns up to management before and were told they were "new employees" and apologized to accordingly. At some point though, the issue stops being "they're new" and starts becoming a training problem. Customers should not repeatedly deal with confusion, wasted time, and poor communication. read more

We ate here Thursday before the TSO show at JPJ. While the store was absolutely packed, the employees did a great job moving the line and getting food out to customers. The staff managed to keep it clean, but at one point I tossed a cup (empty) into a trash receptacle only to hear it hit the floor, sorry!!! Thankfully the person behind me saw what happened or would have dumped lots of trash into the hole. Great job overall especially considering the huge crowd. read more

We live near to this location and come here frequently. It is always outstanding! The staff are so friendly and the restaurant is always so clean!! The food is exactly what you hope for when you visit a Chick-fila-hot and tasty! And they have Coke Zero!! It just makes it that much better!! The Great Fast Food Fried Chicken Taste Test Testing the fried chicken sandwiches at C'ville fast food chains. Scoring for looks, bun, juiciness, sauce, flavour, and texture! Me - 15/30 oh sometimes hype can bite ya in the backside and maybe it did here. Is that fair? I dunno. Yes, the chicken was juicy, but the serving portion small. The bun flat. The cook on the chicken too dark. The taste salty. (And the drinks aren't refill-your-self so that's a problem if it's too salty.) It didn't make me want to eat more. And those were two sad-ass pickles. I almost felt sorry for them. Now I'm not sad that I haven't ventured down to Bloor/Yonge and lined up for this back at home. Kid #1 - 13/30 this kid is a sauce kid. And he was sad about the lack of sauce. (Now we did haul a bottle of Chik-fil-A sauce from Target back over the border so maybe that will redeem it when we open it later this year.) But I agree with him - this one needed a sauce. Everything else got an "ok" or "fine" and he's old enough to have discerning tastes and recognize that bun was a bit of a disaster. I think he thought this would be the best and was a bit sad that he forwent hamburgers in favour of testing a fifth sandwich that turned out to be so very meh. Kid #2 - 8.5/30 not sure why he descended into decimals for this one and not the others. But was adamant that the Polynesian sauce was neither sour nor sweet, that the bun was less fresh than Raising Cane's, and the chicken itself was just very Wendy's. He even ranked it below Cookout. Yikes. Special note: that was a very clean restaurant and a very friendly staff, but the layout meant I walked into the kitchen looking for the washroom. Final ranking 1. Raising Cane's 2. This was my first visit to the Barracks Road, Chick-Fil-A. First, I love the consistency of their service/mannerism, food, and their organization skills cannot be beat. Most Chick-Fil-A's in our area have two drive through lanes and during those peak customer times, this helps keep the order and flow going but I also like the added touch of having an actual person to confirm your mobile order or take your order. The young lady that helped me was super friendly, my order correct, and I received in a very timely manner. I highly suggest ordering from the Chick-Fil-A app it's very clear and concise. I'd also like to compliment this particular Chick-Fil-A I stopped at 8:30 and they close at 9p, they had lines wrapped around the building and they still took everyone's order and remained friendly, most other places would turn away customers or close early to prevent getting off late - I've had those experiences at other fast food chains. She then tries to convince me not to get what I wanted and looks at me with a blank stare after I said that I would like to wait also she didn't ask if I wanted any sauces and hurried our ordering conversation. So happy they are finally open! I put up with bad service at Zaxby's for too long. Chick-fil-A is three blocks closer to my office, yet when I order on the app the food is ready for me when I get to the drive-through. More than a few times, when I drove to Zaxby's to pick up my order it wasn't ready. Plus now Zaxby's makes you go inside to pick up your online order which is ridiculous! When they first open, I swung by Chick-fil-A to try their breakfast but they were closed due to a power or water issue. But they are cheerful staff was in the drive-through lanes handing out gift cards for a complementary breakfast Now that is CustomerService! You made a fan out of me for life read more

Amazingly well run Chick-fil-A. Unlike many of them around the country, the dining room is open, bathrooms fully available, and they have a friendly and very efficient staff. I ordered inside the restaurant, and my mea came literally in two minutes. Absolutely perfect. Highly recommended!! read more
