Skirt steak

This was a special get together dinner with some friends of over 38 years and this was the spot to have our get together. Mezcal, a Mexican steakhouse is a restaurant that's part of a portfolio of other very popular restaurants in NJ. This place was terrific. The exterior was beautiful and the interior was even more impressive. Upon entering into the restaurant the ask if you'd like a tour of the place. Take it. In a nutshell the waiter was on point with his review of the food and drink menu. Their selections of tequilas, bourbons etc are impressive. The food and drink presentations are incredible and taste just as good as they look. Highly recommend for that special occasion.

I believe this was my 7th visit, this place creates an unforgettable experience every time. From the staff service, to the amazing authentic food, to the dimly lit sophisticated ambience. It's always a great time, especially on Mondays for all day happy hour!! And another shout out to the staff every time I went it was for somebody's birthday, and we always felt like a top priority, management has this place on LOCK thank you to the entertainment group they keep opening gems

Took a while for us to get here, but we finally made it for an early Friday dinner. Mezcal is striking from the moment you enter. It's very dimly lit which adds to all the special effects provided during your meal. The bar has a lovely fire effect and is quite popular for "happy hour". Ambiance is NYC chic-it's a great vibe. Service was professional yet friendly with some good upselling if you are open to it. Appeitzers Sweet corn arepas Octopus tacos Entrees Berkshire pork chop Halibut Dessert Churros Mezcal is part restaurant and part food show. A nice experience with good food.

Finally took my wife on a date to Mezcal and it did not disappoint. Mezcal has been the talk of our town since it opened and I can definitely see why. The vibes and ambience take you right out of Old Bridge and throws you into a trendy NYC restaurant and bar. While Mezcal can be considered pricey, their flavors and offerings definitely lives up to the hype. We started with the beluga caviar tasting which was delicious and rich! Way better than the typical sturgeon caviar most restaurants serve. The oysters were also fresh and was served with delicious condiments. For our main entree we ordered the tomahawk for 2, with a side of corn and mashed potatoes. We loved that the steak was served with sea salt on the side that we can sprinkle on every bite. We finished our meal with flan and it was rich and decadent. It definitely put a dent in my wallet but we'll definitely be going back there soon to try their lobster risotto and other steak options! We're also excited to head back for their happy hour on Mondays!

I've been trying to come here forever. Always closed when I'm in the area. Finally snagged a reservation. We arrived for happy hour at the bar. If you want to drink come for happy hour. The jump in price from bar to table is astronomical. Our drinks were delicious in both areas. My meat was well cooked and flavorful. The fried ice cream was also delicious. The atmosphere here is cool and they have music playing. It was a great night out and I can't wait to return.

Beautiful space, excellent Mexican food, and great service. My family brought me to Mezcal as a surprise, and we were all really impressed. From the moment you walk in, the restaurant makes a great first impression. The décor is beautiful and upscale, but still inviting and there are plenty of great spots for social media pictures. We started with a few lighter appetizers, but they ended up being more than enough. We shared three sets of tacos: the fish, pork, and short rib. Each order comes with two tacos, which makes them perfect for sharing and trying different flavors. The esquites were also really tasty and all paired very well. My daughter had a cheese quesadilla, which she absolutely loved. For drinks, I went with an Old Fashioned (my go to classic) while my wife ordered the "Clock It" mocktail. Both were solid choices. I also appreciated that they brought out boxed water for my daughter, which was a nice touch. What really stood out to me, though, was the service. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. There's also a fairly large bar right at the entrance, so you don't necessarily have to come here for a full meal. I could easily see Mezcal being a great date-night spot or a place to grab drinks and enjoy the atmosphere. There's also plenty of parking in the back, which is always a plus. Overall, I'd definitely come back. Next time, I want to try some of the main dishes. It's a higher-end restaurant, so expect the prices to reflect that, but between the food, atmosphere, service, and presentation, I thought it was well worth the experience.

Hands down, one of the best dining experiences I've had in New Jersey. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is incredible, beautiful, energetic, and completely immersive. The entire staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, and the hospitality made the night even more memorable. The food was excellent from beginning to end, the cocktails were creative and beautifully presented, and every detail felt thoughtfully executed. Between the atmosphere, the food, the drinks, and the service, Mezcal delivered the complete experience. We had an incredible night and will definitely be back. Highly recommended. -- Jeffrey Umaña @jeffrey.umana

Father's Day a day earlier and fortunate to have reservations at the trendy "New York vibe" Mezcal. Modern Mexican steakhouse with fish entrees. Lily T was our server and she was great especially as we had a 3 year old and she took pictures all evening. Appetizers were great and so were entrees (skirt steak could be seasoned a bit more) Entering was an experience and the décor inside was awesome. Appetizers hand cut fries, roasted carrots, guacamole. Main course Halibut which was amazing, salmon also very good. Jumbo crab cake great. Skirt steak only a bit off from my son in NY (this is a steakhouse) Drinks served really cool especially water for our grandson. Worth a return for certain

"Soon to be Famous" añejo, tequila, mezcal, passionfruit, turmeric, chili pepper, lime. Good but a little too sweet for me.

Great drinks, food, and fun! We had a reserved table for 6, and parking was easy across the street in a business lot after hours. Inside is gorgeous and feels like a club, with a nice lobby, beautiful interior, and a live DJ playing great music. The DJ was so good we actually asked if people dance, but our server said it wasn't really that kind of place. Honestly, it's rude for the music to be that good then. Service was excellent. Drinks and waters were refilled all night. My favorite cocktail was For The Gram. It was very balanced and came with a sage joint. Soon To Be Famous was good too but it was sweeter than I usually like. The Spanish Octopus starter was tender, perfectly cooked, and delicious. For my meal, I had the Mezcal Mixed Greens Salad with my choice of Salmon, and both were really tasty. Dessert was a tall Coconut cake and Fried Ice Cream with toasted coconut flakes. Both were good, but I wanted the coconut cake to taste more coconutty. NOTES/TIPS: **Limited parking, can park across the street after in the evening. **Wheelchair-accessible. Clean restrooms.

Went there for a friend's 50th and honestly wasn't expecting it to be this packed on a Monday night - says a lot about the place. It's not the kind of spot you'd notice just walking by, but clearly people know about it. Loved the vibes too, crowd was a great mix of ages and the whole place just felt inviting. Food was a little pricey but really good, drinks hit the spot, and the bar setup overall was just solid. Staff were super friendly too, quick with suggestions whenever we needed them and kept checking in on our group to make sure everyone was taken care of. Definitely would go back for some more.

Perfect place for a GNO. My friends and I definitely enjoyed everything. Once we opened the door was enamored with the ambiance of the place just had great vibes and the song selections were amazing! We also had an amazing server named Jake, he really connected with us and ensured our experience was great. He gave great suggestions regarding their drinks and foods.

My husband and I love going to the sister restaurant 618 and finally were able to snag a reservation for Mezcal. The indoor decor is like a modern lounge and the bar is impressive with the wrap around fire. We were seated at a small table for 2 near the bar. I wish there was a bit more clearance area between the bar and our table. As when there is a large group standing around the bar and being rowdy, it almost feels like they are on top of you and bumping into your chair. We ordered the no bullshit drink which they light on fire and it was quite a show. It was the perfect balance of spicy and sweet. The appetizer we decided on was the seasonal ceviche and honestly we were very disappointed. Not only was the portion size small (done in 2 large bites), it was lacking flavor. I think it needed more salt as well as citrus tang. I think a big factor was that the mango inside the ceviche wasn't ripe. We decided to go all out on the entree and got the Tomahawk steak for 2 Oaxacan style. This dish also came out on fire, I feel like there's a theme here with fire, haha. Our favorite dipping sauce that accompanies the dish was the homemade chimichurri sauce. My husband was a huge fan on the street corn while I loved the creamy mashed potatoes. My only concern was that our steak had a lot of tendon in this particular cut. This meant about a 1/4 of the steak was inedible and chewy. I was a bit upset over this because based on the price you would assume you would receive the best cut of meat and be able to eat the whole thing. We were celebrating a birthday and the waiter brought out a ice-cream cupcake free of charge. My favorite part was that he didn't make the restaurant sing happy birthday. He just handed us the cupcake, said happy birthday, and went on his merry way. It seems this restaurant wants to put a wow factor on their dishes for social media and influencers. Many items come out on fire, are revealed from lanterns, have dry ice on them, just presentation decisions meant for taking pictures or videos and posting. As the service was amazing and on point we will return to try out happy hour.

The vibe is trendy and the dining room has a cool, moody club feel to it. However, if you're coming here for a great culinary experience, you might want to look elsewhere. I actually took Afrin before going out just so my sinuses would be clear and I could fully taste and smell this meal and it still tasted like something you would get from the Backrooms. It isn't necessarily "bad," but it literally just tastes like the bare minimum concept of edible food. Absolutely nothing on the menu including the cocktails is going to knock your socks off. I ordered the steak, and it was incredibly mediocre. It completely missed the mark on tenderness and severely lacked any real seasoning it was literally just steak flavored. Honestly, Texas Roadhouse cooks a way better steak that literally blows this place out of the water. Ultimately, this is a spot that relies on its club atmosphere to sell very expensive, incredibly average food. We spent over $300 on this meal and left so disappointed that I told my wife we are going to do a birthday "do over" so we can celebrate at a place with actually good food. Come here for the scene and the crowd, but don't expect the food to match the price tag.

The service was outstanding from start to finish -- warm, knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food. The restaurant has a very open kitchen, and several of the chefs took time to show us what they were doing and explain the preparation. They clearly take pride in the food and enjoy sharing that with guests. We had the pão with cardamom-chile butter, roasted oysters, garlic shrimp, picanha, the meatball paella, and olive-oil tres leches cake, along with Alvarinho wine and a draft beer. The paella rice itself was excellent, with a very good socarrat and a strong wood-fired character. The pork-and-beef meatballs were good on their own, though for me the combination was a little unusual and I would choose a different paella variation next time. Always changing paella of the day. Seafood would excite me when available. The picanha, oysters, shrimp, bread, and dessert were also all very good. The whole restaurant operated as a team. That added a lot to the experience because the people serving the food really understood how it was prepared. Even small details were thoughtful. Our leftovers were kept at the host stand and we were given a numbered claim disc to retrieve the bag on the way out -- a simple idea that avoids having takeout bags sitting on the table or floor. I had never seen that done before. Overall, Lita delivered very good food with exceptional hospitality. The open kitchen, wood-and-charcoal cooking, and interaction with the chefs made the meal feel personal and memorable. We would definitely return, especially to try another paella variation.

We politely asked if there was any accommodation that could be made for my elderly grandmother to enjoy happy hour elsewhere in the bar area (the rest of the restaurant was absolutely empty). The staff was extremely unaccommodating. We were rudely told to force my grandmother to sit up on the bar stools by the hostess and the blonde middle aged manager. They do not seem to be interested in attracting business from elderly customers as this is clearly not ADA compliant. We will never return.

Walked into a beautiful place. We stated with a great bread basket. Maybe the best I've ever had…read more And the great food continued. For appys, we had a wedge salad w/ a slice of bacon, which my wife enjoyed. I had baked clams, which I loved! For dinner, my wife had Filet Mignon and mac & cheese on the side. The meat was cooked perfectly and the mac & cheese was great. I had a Wagyu rib eye cap and Brussel sprouts on the side. The meat was perfect, and so were the sprouts. For dessert, my wife had the affogato, which both of us loved. The only disappointment of the night was the Tiramisu, not flavorful at all. The service was top-notch, I appreciated that the waiter was not a kid, which so many places use these days. It's very expensive, $380 for two (BYOB), including tip. As great a meal as it was, I don't think I will be a regular. If I come back, it won't be for the steak, mine cost $115. The mains don't include sides, it's all a la carte. If the money doesn't bother you, or it's a special occasion, I highly recommend this restaurant. Somebody in that kitchen, knows what they are doing!

What an unfortunate turn of events. We arrived as a party of 4 on a Friday evening around 6 pm…read moreexpecting a well needed, well deserved, enjoyable meal amongst friends. I was especially looking forward to ordering the ribeye and lit up instantly when the server listed it as one of the specials. The server shared that he would need to collect the orders for all of our courses at the same time which was fine with me. I actually had more confidence in the timing of everything for that reason. Our server had a delightful energy particularly at the beginning of our visit. After we placed our orders, everything began to fall apart. It did get noticeably busy since we first arrived, but we ultimately waited for our main entrees for over 3 hours. 3 hours. The table ordered the charred octopus and the oysters to start. The oysters hit the table fairly quickly, but then we began to gradually notice how long it was taking for the octopus to come. I had only a slither of the octopus so that I could say I tried it. Everyone at the table raved about the taste. I did, however, agree that their oysters were delicious especially when dressed with a little bit of mignonette, lemon, horseradish and a touch of Tabasco sauce. I'm excited to now report that I am a fan of fresh oysters from the east coast, because apparently the coast matters. The table also ordered the canaletto stuffed with mascarpone, parmesan and another cheese, langostines and lobster with morel mushroom cream sauce, garnished with truffles. I passed on this one also as it was too adventurous for my taste buds; although, their delicious bread and our drinks did distract me for a little while. The restaurant is BYOB, so we had our wine to keep us company while we observed other tables come and go. We eventually asked to see the manager and was told there wasn't a manager on duty which was either untrue or a very poor decision on the part of the owners considering it was a Friday evening. Having someone occasionally check in with our table may have also helped to take the pressure off of the server who may have gotten overwhelmed or decided to prioritize other tables. Having a manager offer a personal apology may have helped us feel less forgotten about. After the three hour mark, we decided this was enough. I didn't have much to eat at this point, but I wasn't at all worried initially since I was there for the main event, the ribeye. I stopped a hostess who was walking past our table and asked for the manager. We were again told the manager is not here but can be called, if needed. I simply replied, "Please do". Shortly afterwards, I noticed our server who at this time was standing by the host stand briskly walk into the kitchen and then return to our table with our plates. I sent the food back which was a decision that was supported by everyone at the table. Let me tell you, that was a difficult decision to make, but I also was ready to call it a night. Our mood had changed, and I truly felt like we were derservant of having the same experience as everyone else that night. Our server apologized for his part to play in the ordeal which I appreciated since I know his intention was never malicious, but unfortunately we had to call this night a bust. He offered us dessert on the house, and our entire meal was comped which we felt was an appropriate resolution. I ordered the Cinnamon Toast Crunch bread pudding which was a favorite. Very good. Jasper Stone is a beautiful establishment with decorative yellow and white floral arrangements throughout the dining area. It is clearly a popular restaurant and has many positive reviews. I regret that I could not have a comparable experience.
