Isabela is the absolute best. The customer service she offered us is better than any other we've ever experienced. We were almost taken aback by how considerate she was. She made sure we had exactly what we wanted all the way down to the sauces and the spiciness level of our guacamole. Isabela - if you see this, you are awesome! Thank you for making our day better. We will definitely be back. The food was perfect, no complaints! read more

Wow. Just wow. This was honestly some of the best food I have eaten in a long time! The empanadas de carnitas were wonderful. The cachapa was absolutely amazing... salty, tangy, and sweet. The owners were so friendly and offered some wonderful recommendations. This place is worth a drive from Franklin! read more

Came here for lunch today and as always the food was good and filling. Have tried several different items from this place and they are all good and the meat packed with flavor. Food is good for the price and portions for the most part and food is always fresh. read more

This is one of my favorite Sunday morning restaurants when you are dying for a great Caldo de Mariscos and a Michelada. Hair of the dog.

I visited Mexiven for a weekday lunch. I wasn't quite sure where to park in the weird lot, but no one else was there. Walking inside I really felt like I was transported to Mexico which is a good thing when looking for authentic Mexican food. The lady at the front that took my order suggested changing the shrimp soup into a mixed seafood soup. The soup wasn't cheap at $16, but it did have a ton of meat and really large shrimp. It came with a side of corn taco shells. It was a very good meal. I'd stop by again for an authentic lunch. read more

A little hole in the wall/hidden gem. The twist is Mexican/Venezuelan food on the menu. Go up to the little window in the left hand corner to place your order. The food being delivered to the guests next to me looked amazing. The complimentary chips and salsa were excellent. I ordered (street tacos) 3 chicken and 3 carne asada with cilantro and onion. Needless to say...they were fantabulous. Now on the flip side. They don't exactly have a menu. I mean hey have pictures posted of items you can order and written specials on the board. No prices on anything either. So I was a little shocked when I saw my bill was $21.45 for 6 tacos. read more

The food is good, and portions are good for the price. Food is always hot and good flavor with good sauces on the side that brings the heat. Staff is friendly and plenty of parking. My wife really enjoys the fajitas and the side salad that comes with it. I usually go for one of the tortas or burritos. Definitely recommend this place. read more

This is a very hidden little mom and pop off Bradyville Pike. Don't blink or you'll miss it! Wonderful authentic Venezuelan and Mexican food. Think "Like mom would have made". I've had a lot of the items off the menu. Everything tastes very good, great use of spices and full of flavor. Building is an older place and it's nothing tremendous on the inside, but staff are great! I've talked to the owners on many occasions and they are very humble and love to share with there guests. read more

We tried this restaurant and were blown away! The chile rellano is excellent, and the Burrito Mexinen with Barbacoa is amazing. We will be back! read more

What a find. This looks like a hole in the wall but the food was great - freshly made, even the empanadas. The owners were friendly and the service was great. It was very reasonably priced for such a good meal. And they had Mexican Coca Cola! read more

Okay. I saw reviews about this place having no Spicy food. They do have Mexican food, but I talked to one of the ladies, and she is from Guatemala. They had Guatemalan tamales! After I saw that, I was no longer expecting Mexican food. Lots of places in Central America do not do spicy. I almost wish that they had more Guatemalan food The food was amazing. My sweet Gringo husband said that the tacos were better than "a well known restaurant in Nashville". And that's a win, okay!!! So y'all get your tooshies to this place. They have a food truck across from Cedars of Lebanon state park, and that's where we went. I think they have a brick and mortar in another city. read more

Muy delicioso!!! I have been wanting good tacos and this place SERVED!! I ordered the Al Pastor, Carnitas, & Asada (which I will refer to as the 3 Amigos from now on) and they were so yummy and packed with flavor, I wish I had 3 more! read more

If you enjoy AUTHENTIC mexican food, do yourself a big favor and stop by. They have anything you could imagine, and then some. Best part- it's all done well. I have had quite a few of their menu items and none have disappointed me yet. The flavors are just a bit different from typical Mexican fare, but it's not a startling departure; it's a welcome one. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, too. Top 3 recommended items: 1. Barbacoa tacos w/ fresh onion and cilantro 2. Chile Relleno w/ rice and beans 3. Burrito Mexiven Their guacamole salsa is killer, as well. It goes great on just about everything. Also, be sure to get some homemade cheesecake. It has your usual cream cheese on top, with a twist of chocolate cake on the bottom and a strawberry topping. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed. read more

Mexiven I believe started off as taco truck and now they have their own place where you could sit down and eat. This place is really good and decent enough to satisfy my authentic cravings!!! Pricing: the pricing compared to other places is right in the middle. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive. I think it's just right in the middle and for what you're getting as well. I don't mind it! Food: oh my! First off, the homemade sauces they give you with your meal is soooooooo good and to die for. The avocado sauce is the reason why I keep going back, and the corn tortillas!! Theirs something about their sauces that I love so much and I love how it's enough spicy! I wasn't a big fan of the soup but the tacos and Torta is good. Overall experience: it's not my first place to pick, but it's somewhere I would go back for sure! Love their sauces and can't get enough of it. read more

Best Mexican and Venezuelan food in Murfreesboro! The people are amazing and the food is great. I also really enjoy the atmosphere. It is so cute inside. Plus they have shaved ice with chamoy! Try the Chile relleno for a special treat. The coctel Cameron is the best in town. Highly recommend. Please be patient as this is slow food, but that's what makes it special. read more

The tacos are fantastic, they have a great garlic cream sauce as well as hot sauce. Had the carne asada and chicken tacos. Both were great, the wife had Barbacoa and she loved it! Their beans were also delicious. Rice was on the plain side but still good. read more

So we gave this little place a try yesterday. We were craving some good mexican food and someone recommended this place. As we pulled we were lured in by the amazing smells coming from their grill. The owner came out and greeted us and invited us in. We ordered a selection at the window and ate outside. Everyone was super friendly and answered all our questions. The tacos were on point and the Mexiven burrito was awesome. But the best was their smoked chicken. Wow! I got a second order to eat later. Overall this was a cool place and i will definitely be going back! Also their salsa was delish! Worth a visit! read more

This is simply the best Mexican food in the area - authentic, simple and delicious. I had 4 tacos - 2 chicken, barbacoa and suadero, or marinated meat. All tacos were served in soft corn tortillas with cilantro and onions. Their simplicity reminded me of food we had in Mexico. The suadero was the highlight for sure. It tasted like my grandmother's roast beef, tender and shredded in a rich red sauce. My husband had the suadero quesadilla, which was full of melted, gooey cheese and out of this world good. Accompanying our meal were three sauces. A red chili sauce that was great but so spicy it made my scalp tingle. Also a medium spicy tomatillo sauce that was probably the best I've ever had, and a creamy avocado chili sauce that paired very well with the suadero. We couldn't pass up Mexican Coke as well, served in large bottles. The interior is a colorful green with cheerful decorations. There's even a foosball table! Our service was impeccable, and reasonably priced at $22 total. We've definitely found a new favorite restaurant! read more

We love authentic Mexican food and consider ourselves critics of it. This is our second favorite place in Murfreesboro. Our first is very near this one. We had burritos with carne asada. It was tasty and the salsas good. Only thing we didn't like was just bit too many fatty pieces that couldn't be chewed and we only had one of each salsa for each burrito. Other than that it was good. The proprietors were kind and brought it to me after it was done. read more

Ordered 3 tacos with rice, chicken chimichanga with rice, al pastor chimichanga with rice, a cubano with rice, and nachos with steak. Anyone that knows me well knows I absolutely hate "Americanized Mexican" food. So whenever Mexican cuisine is proposed, my first question is, "So they have street-style tacos...?", followed by, "What's on them?". I'm happy to report this is the real-deal. Upon arrival, there were many in the restaurant...but we were the only *partial* gringos. The space is quite small, bright with fluorescents, equally bright wall paint, and while rather clean...it smelled funny. I also noted a patron asking for the bathroom key, which is apparently outside. I ordered #5...you guessed it...tacos. Pollo (chicken), cilantro, and onion. You are to order the quantity of tacos you desire. I also opted for a Corona since Negra Modelo is not served here. The server at the window was a super nice guy, and told us to take a seat as he would serve us. We settled into a booth, and enjoyed taking in a little fútbol with the rest of the patrons, which was playing on a small television. While waiting for our main courses, our server delivered our beers, as well as chips and salsa that were definitely fresh. Despite I'm partially Latina, my GI tract can't handle immense amounts of spicy. Luckily, their homemade salsa does not have much of a kick at all. The tacos were awesome...and once I added a little of their homemade guacamole sauce...perfecto! Since they were out of churros (typically a breakfast food anyway) and flan, we opted for their homemade cheesecake. I steered away from the crust since I wasn't sure if it had any tree nuts, but the rest was oh-so delicious. Three beers, six tacos, and one slice of cheesecake amounted to approximately $25.00. Not a bad deal. I will be back to curb my need for an authentic taco fix. read more

Simple, family-owned hole in the wall restaurant serving up Mexican-Venezuelan food. Everything our group ordered was fresh and yummy.

Decided to give it a shot after reading great reviews. The food was alright but it was pricey!!! I ordered 4 asada tacos, chips and a smoothie. The total was $20!! I've never paid that much for Mexican food! I could've gone to Nachos and paid $20 for two meals. Not coming back. read more

We were on the road to Nashville looking for a non- chain lunch spot. This restaurant was the perfect find. Delicious authentic food and efficient friendly service. It is a bit of a "hole in the wall" but is very clean and organized. You order at the window and are served at your table. There are a few tables inside and a few picnic tables outside. The menu offers a variety of Mexican and Venezuelan dishes. I had the chicken tamale plate and my husband had the burrito. Chips and salsa with several different homemade sauces came with our meals. The garlic sauce was new to us and very good. Everything was fresh and scratch-made. The very reasonable prices were a bonus. This is a hidden gem I would definitely check out. read more

This place is a divey authentic Mexican restaurant. The street tacos were awesome we had pastor, pollo y, carnitas. Everything is made fresh to order but didn't take long at once our order was placed. We had never been before and were a little concerned because we walked in and no one was eating here. But so glad we stayed the pastor is one of the best I've had. Workers were very polite but mostly in the back cooking just go to the window and someone will help with whatever you need. The. Real. Deal. These guys are amazing. It's a family run joint in a stand alone building just off the corner of Minerva and Rutherford. They used to serve out of a food truck. a few years back we lived right down the street from where they parked the thing. I still remember stepping outside my front door and enjoying the incredible aroma of meats cooking in that huge smoker they toted behind the truck! Authentic Mexican food. And, OH is it delicious.
