I was hesitant at first to try this new place since there were so many mixed reviews. But I hope people who feel as I did, ignore the bad reviews and come in!! (At LEAST read my FULL review to understand why I believe you should give this place a try & make your own decision when you do come in!) We were immediately greeted & seated! The host was super friendly. (I came here a few months ago & also 2 nights ago!) I was a pescatarian a few months ago and I ordered seafood tacos. They had scallops and shrimp in them. My boyfriend and I split the guacamole. The seafood tasted really fresh and the guacamole was perfect with it. The other night my boyfriend and I both got vegetable fajitas with no sour cream and no cheese and a side of guacamole. The vegetables were sautéed to perfection, so much flavor & the flour tortillas were soft and delicious. The side of rice and beans was a generous portion as well. My mother got the tilapia and she couldn't stop RAVING about it. She loved how full of flavor it was. All in all, we had a great experience. I say this place is worth the try! You can't beat the prices & the food is fresh. Try it out for yourself and don't let the negative reviews deter you. We will be back again soon! read more

My food was delicious. I had steak fajitas. However, there's some serious issues here and I won't go back unless things change. First of all, it is so smoky in there and they need a new ventilation system. My eyes burned and my clothes stink from the smells of the food due to the smoke from all the fajitas. Everyone was complaining. Second, it is very noisy and they need to get sound buffers on the walls. Very uncomfortable to have to shout at your friends. Couldn't hear! Third, they charged me $2.00 for guacamole but on the menu it is included in the meal. I told them but I doubt they'll change it in their computer. My waitress was very sweet. Ordered takeout, had to wait a little longer for it when I got there to pick up but would rather that then have my food sit and get cold. Pretty damn good ! We had chicken fajitas, al pastor tacos (I got them with flour tortillas) and the marinated chicken torta, all very good Chips and salsa went fast, salsa is almost like a picante style but was great, place was def Smokey like others complained about, I'm sure I smell like a massive fajita right now. First off, I love Mexican restaurants. If I could eat it every day, I would. I am also not particularly picky about Mexican food so this review isn't influenced by the fact I like xyz establishment more than Mexitacos. Firstly, the service was awful. It took about 15 mins after being seated to even be acknowledged and at this point I considered getting up and leaving but I figured they were new so let me give them the benefit. Once our "waitress" finally came over nothing really got better. Our order was taken in a gruff and dismissive manner. I will also note here that any special requests made when ordering are merely a suggestion and you are not likely to receive any of the changes. You also may never actually receive your food at all until another lunar cycle has passed. We ordered: Appetizer Nachos Tex-mex enchiladas Chorizo tacos Somewhere north of the 20 minute mark we received some complementary chips and "salsa" that more closely resembled canned tomato paste mixed with water. The chips were also probably fried in cold oil and were generally soggy and lacked any crunchiness. The nachos arrived at about 40 minutes into our meal after neighboring tables, who arrived after us (and were a table of 5 vs our 2) were already receiving their entrees. I am assuming they must have had some kind of express pass. The nachos had the same soggy chips covered with tasteless refried beans and bowling ally nacho cheese sauce. Our food did not get any better from here. The enchiladas arrived with the same nacho cheese sauce instead of the salsa verde I had requested. They offered to change it but since we were already an hour into our meal I just said no thank you because I wasn't looking to spend the next two hours in the restaurant. In general the food was completely flavorless and the most recognizable taste in any of the food was that of the lettuce and cilantro. The "chorizo" in my wife's tacos looked more like the left over crumbs in the bottom of the pan instead of any actual chorizo pieces. If the food was inexpensive I may have been more apt to judge it less harshly but at over $40 for our meal I felt like the quality was completely unacceptable. To be honest we could of spent $20 at Taco Bell across the street and had a better experience. There are other Mexican restaurants in town at the same price point which are leagues ahead of Mexitaco. Unless they make significant changes to their staffing and food quality I can't imagine why I would ever return. If nothing else the service could of potentially been a saving aspect but in this case it was just equally bad. The smokey atmosphere also did not improve anything. read more

Wanted to really like this place but the food was horrible. I ordered green cheese and spinach enchiladas and they were covered in nacho cheese. This is heavenly good!!!!! My dish was amazing and my husband loved his, too! He had chimichanga (I think that's how it's spelled). I ordered the skirt steak with avocado reddish and substituted the rice with avocado slices. Absolutely fresh and delicioussssssss!!! Their bean side was super tasty and not salty like most places. The place is super clean and the staff were quick and friendly. Definitely a gem. Super impressed with the food. Will be back more and more!!!!!! This was amazingly delicious. There were plenty of seafood choices. I went with the seafood chimichanga which was filled with scallops, shrimp, crab and plenty of cheese. As an appetizer we shared the spinach and cheese dip which was served with warm tortillas. I will definitely be returning as there are many more items I would like to try. read more

We don't live in this area, but we have friends who do. They suggested we all have dinner together at Mexitacos. I'm glad we did. This is a fantastic little restaurant! We were greeted immediately and warmly. The staff quickly assembled tables to seat our party of nine. The young woman who served us was attentive and offered menu suggestions since we were first time visitors The restaurant was clean and neat and had plenty of seating. Though music was playing through the restaurant's speakers, it didn't hinder our ability to chat throughout the meal. Our meals were excellent. The kids enjoyed their tacos and the adults loved their chimichangas and steaks. The side dishes (rice and pico de gallo) were also delicious. Several different groups stood at the front door waiting to be greeted by one of the 6 people working by the register for about five minutes, we all felt like idiots for stepping through the door. I'm from CA where Mexican food is everywhere like Italian restaurants in NJ. This place is as close as it gets to California style Mexican food. They have great orchata which they make there. FYI no free refills on it. Waiter didn't tell me that and after three my bill was like $15 just orchata. Lesson learned. Food is great too. I usually get their fajita combo steak and chicken. Not going to even pretend to be snobby - this place is GREAT! I'm a HUGE fan of the hard shell tacos and the nachos. They always make fresh delicious food - their pick up orders are always ready on time and fresh and hot. Very fairly priced for exceptional Mexican food. VERY filling portions too! Reading the negatives reviews and DAMN, this place opened less then a month. The service isn't going to be seamless just yet they are most likely working out kinks.
