Music, food and fun. Love stopping in whether on a date night or with a crowd. Fundido is a must everytime. Cocktails are great and the tequila options feel overwhelming. Overall I look forward to coming back and trying a new Antojitos.
The vibe at Meximodo is unmatched so is the food and service . The parking garage next door is complimentary for guests who dine at the restaurant. Park n walk into a high energy restaurant that rocks upbeat music , a grand colorful bar with their tequila collection, the unmatched decor and a classy meal . Raymond waited at our table and he lknew the menu and made some good suggestions Cantarita and Mocktail passion fruit margarita were great picks . House chips and salsa with fresh pico offered a great start to our meal . Followed by Truffle street corn which was a creamy crushed corn with truffle flavor with 2 crisp tortilla to scoop the corn . Chicken poppers with a Ranch harissa dipping sauce had a little kick to it but offered the creamy texture to dip the saucy fried chicken The Baja fish tacos had Alaskan fried cod with a cabbage slaw and the the kicked up ranch making it a mouthful goodness I loved everything about this place and would highly recommend it .
Hip date night spot! I've tried to visit this establishment in the past (about six months ago) and there was a very long wait, even with a reservation. Due to the long wait (1 hr+) in the fall, we ended up leaving and not trying out this restaurant. This time, I was pleasantly surprised that we were seated within a few minutes in the outside dining area, even without a reservation this go around. The drinks are the focal point! There are so many options, all of which are unique and delicious, and they come out looking so fun. I had the Tamarindo and my husband opted for El Jefe. The Tamarindo had a delicious, sour tajin rim. I was sold from that point on! Before any food came out, we were provided with complementary chips, pico de gallo, and hot sauce. A nice way to ease into the food. Our appetizer was a citrusy shrimp dish, with the seafood plated on avocado mouse. I've never tried avocado in this format and it was so delightful- soft and creamy! The sauce was perfectly citrusy and the presentation made it look like art. My main dish was the spicy shrimp tacos. They were sufficiently packed, not overfilled, which I appreciated. I was full after one taco and had two more to take home. Overall, this is a good energy, lively spot with loud Latin music and good eats. Slightly on the pricier side, but well worth the energetic atmosphere. Staff were so friendly and helpful- couldn't ask for more in this department. Great way to spend a summer evening!
Came here at random after trying to find a place to go for lunch together. Not bad. A large venue with metered street parking & a parking garage around the corner. They validate parking at the restaurant when you leave if you ask. Bright "Mexican" themed interior. Modern & clean approach, friendly staff. They give complimentary Popcorn. Kettle style so slightly sweet & seasoned with salt & tajin. We ordered the Mi Amor Margarita & Mockarita (Margarita Mocktail)[not pictured]. They have a small mocktail menu, FYI. For food we had Truffle Street Corn, Salsa Flight, & Chef Taco Board. The Chef Taco Board feeds 3 people, we used it for 4. It comes with 9 Tacos & 1 side. You can choose from the list of Tacos that they have, so you get 3 of each taco you choose. We chose the Jalisco Birria Melt Tacos, Slow Braised Carnita Tacos, & Pineapple Fire Shrimp Tacos, our chosen side was the Yuca fries. A nice an experience & a place I'd recommend if someone were in the area looking for Mexican. Note: They add a 2.90% convenience fee to your check for card usage. Not a fan of that, but whatever. This restaurant is so great! We went for lunch today with a big group and the food was delicious. The portions are a very good size and the restaurant is super beautiful with these grand lights and a really nice bar mural. The only thing is it can be seriously noisy in here as it's a really large space- and if they're showing an event like fifa's World Cup you will absolutely not be able to hear the people you're with. Also sometimes when I go there's been people randomly recording (from the business) and they are just walking around on their phones taking video of the patrons - it feels very weird and has happened twice when I was there.
We went to Meximodo, Metuchen, NJ for my birthday on May 5th. It was a great experience. We had a lovely afternoon with great food and ambiance. Ordered corn and roasted tomatoes Guacamole, El Jefe bowl, and Enchiladas with Verde sauce with veggie trio and in drinks ordered Margarita. Everything was really good but enchiladas hit the spot. Loved the vibe of the place. It's a beautiful space. Service was great too.
I had a great experience at Meximodo. The atmosphere is beautiful, modern, vibrant, and perfect for a night out.The food was excellent. The chips came with several different salsas, each with its own flavor and spice level, which was a really nice touch. Everything we ordered was fresh and well seasoned. The tacos were delicious, and the elote style dish was rich and flavorful. The drinks were also impressive. The cocktail presentation was beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. Our waiter Miguel was fantastic.very attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. His service definitely added to the overall experience. Great food, great drinks, great service. I'll definitely be coming back.
Drinks 5 stars (for the area). Food 3.5 stars. Ambience/decor 5 stars. I am a frequent visitor to Meximodo Metuchen because 1) I'm always in Metuchen, 2) They have excellent drinks, 3) they have food my kids will eat, and 4) the ambience is great! With that being said, the food can be just OK sometimes, depending what you get. I do LOVE the chorizo queso fundido and pumpkin queso, yuca fries, and some other random apps and dishes. Shrimp tacos aren't bad too. However, we've gotten the fish tacos and other meat tacos like barbacoa which can be underwhelming or dry (meat). Fish tacos had too much batter and I could barely taste the fish. Was also not impressed by the mole, although the mole sauce itself wasn't bad. The shrimp & watermelon aquachile was plated and presented excellently with smoke and everything, but I'm not sure I would pay $22 for some watermelon again. Would love it if you brought maybe an oxtail or bone marrow taco or surtida tacos, or maybe even some good brisket tacos. Am I also asking for too much to see if you can house make your own tortillas? LOL My fave drink is the cocolada, but they are ALL amazing cocktails. Oh, and they have the largest tequila selection at a bar in the US. My husband is into that though, I'm more of a cocktail person. Service is usually good too and some of them really know their tequilas! I hope they bring back the happy hour specials though, because we always end up spending quite a bit! Also, I ABSOLUTELY love the decor all the time. They change it up with each season and various holidays, and even gave my daughter a legit meximodo teddy bear on valentine's day for brunch!
We came here for an earlier dinner and were sat right away. The decor in here is so amazing, colors vibrant, definitely makes you instantly happy. Our waiter was very kind taking time to explain the menu and discuss what choices would be best for us. I had the guava margarita with a tajin rim absolutely amazing drink. The roasted corn and tomato guacamole had a ln authentic rustic flavor. The chicken enchiladas were delectable, entire plate done. Family friendly and decent pricing.
Presentation was good, but the flavors didn't exactly wow us. Look, this place is good for drinks and a hang. But wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for the tacos. Standout was their chocolate mole salsa
Food and atmosphere were good & cute for a girls night. Loved their margarita. They have a parking deck behind the restaurant & they are able to comp the parking! Service could have been a little better, at the end we just felt rushed by the waitress but all in all it was a good spot.
Meximoto was a pretty average experience overall. The ambiance was actually one of the best parts -- the decor was beautiful, and the wall and bar area were especially impressive. It created a really nice atmosphere and gave the restaurant a lot of character. The sangria was good, and the street corn was one of the highlights -- it had a nice kick and great flavor. The guacamole was okay, but nothing that really stood out. The biggest issue was the service. Our server barely checked on us, and we never even caught her name. The food took a very long time to come out, and we kept noticing other tables looking around and waiting too, so it didn't seem like it was just our table. What was frustrating was that our server never stopped by to give us an update, acknowledge the delay, or apologize. When the food finally arrived, the tacos were presented nicely, and my boyfriend enjoyed them. However, after such a long wait and lack of communication, I'm not sure the food was worth the experience. Overall, the space itself is beautiful and there were a few good items, but the lack of service really took away from the visit.

Newer Mexican spot in the Metuchulen area, came on Friday night and was super busy Opted to sit outside so there was no wait time, it got a little chilly towards the end of the night but overall was not too bad outside next to the heaters haha. The hostess at the time was extremely friendly and so was our server for the night..loved them Now the food Mexican corn: 7.3 Flavor was good, interesting that it was almost like mashed corn. Was a little cold by the time it got to us but was still very enjoyable Fried plantains: 8.2 best thing of the night. The salty cheese, the sweet and sticky plantain, and spicy salsa Verde was such an addictive flavor Pork taco and birria taco: 5.3 Both were very very very dry and lacked any authentic flavor. Had to add the free salsa to help it go down. And it was weird that the birria taco didn't have any cheese either Chipotle lava cake with Maria cookie ice cream This was an interesting experience as it wasn't a spicy chocolate cake but a chocolate cake that had a small kick afterward. The ice cream was as very very yummy,.and definitely had the taste of Maria cookies Overall had high hopes for this place since the line was literally out the door and to the streets, but it was sort of all appearance and not substance.. the interior decor was nice, but way too kind inside (thought I was going to go dead when I went inside for the bathroom) read more

Enjoyed our visit to Meximodo today! Sat outside on their gorgeous dog friendly patio. The staff a couldn't be any more welcoming and wonderful. Food and drinks were delicious. Had mocktails, tacos and enjoyed their famous Margarita Sundae. Would absolutely return. Highly recommend Meximodo! It's kid and dog friendly! I really enjoyed this restaurant. The servers and hosts were the nicest people. You get chips and salsa for the table, which is a nice touch. The place has a really cool vibe, it's a large space but it doesn't feel overwhelming. I love the decor. I had the shrimp tacos and mushroom quesadilla, both were delicious. read more

I decided to check out Meximodo after finding the restaurant on social media. I booked my reservation on OpenTable 3 weeks in advance because they were practically completely booked on weekends. That didn't bother me but I was pretty put off by my experience upon arrival the day of. I had a 9pm reservation on a Saturday and arrived 5 min early. To my surprise, they were making people with reservations wait outside in the bitter cold. When we asked the employee waiting at the door, she told us we couldn't go inside or order drinks at the bar. This is not what I would've expected but thankfully we only waited 10 min to go in. The restaurant is gorgeous and was as expected based on pictures and videos. It was evident that they were very busy and working out the "new restaurant" kinks. Our server was nice but clearly overwhelmed. It seemed like she had to go downstairs to get beers and the restaurant was out of our first choices of beer. Didn't seem very practical in my opinion and how do you run of beer? They also didn't advertise the different tequila flights or suggest items off the menu which seemed like a miss. However, the food was VERY good. We tried the guacamole with tomatoes and corn, elote, queso fundido with chorizo, enchiladas, the carne asada hangar steak and pork belly tacos. I loved the pork belly tacos! They were so flavorful and delicious. I can't wait to get them again! However, overall I feel like 3 stars is the right rating for the dining experience but I'm hopeful that they'll address some of the issues. I'll give it a few months and would come back again. read more

Unfortunately, this restaurant is just another restaurant that focuses more on the aesthetic of the location rather than the food. Beautiful and clean restaurant with spacious seating and huge bar. The food was not the best. The birria tacos were extremely dry and included hard shells. There is a lack of seasoning given that it is a Mexican restaurant. We complained about the food and the manager was very polite about it and ensured that we had a good service. The waitress was very friendly as well, it was just the food. This is also a more expensive place, you can see in the receipt what a typical bill can look like. It's unfortunate that the food did not meet up to par. read more
I finally got to try this restaurant which is the hottest ticket in town! Can never get a table on the weekends so we had an early dinner reservation on a Tuesday. By the time we left it was packed. Definitely need reservations. The food was outstanding. We had shrimp tacos and pork belly tacos. For appetizer we ordered the corn mushroom quesadilla. Everything was delicious and good portions. Very lively and great music. I'm definitely going back to try other dishes! read more
Meximodo is a vibe. While the food is good, the real draw here is definitely the ambience and the drinks. --I highly recommend the passionfruit margarita and my husband said the old fashioned was one of the best he's ever had. The complementary salsas and tostadas were delicious. My husband and I enjoyed our entrees (barbacoa tacos and enchiladas). We went for date night, but I think it's more of a fit for a group night out. Our server Eli was absolutely phenomenal from the time we were seated until we departed. Genuinely friendly, knowledgeable on the menu, and efficient with serving. You will absolutely need reservations in advance which can be made online. If you go visit, ask for Eli! We will definitely be back. read more

I really don't like giving low reviews but I felt this experience warranted one. I ordered the chipotle rigatoni pasta on delivery through the website and selected no cilantro. When the food arrived it had plenty of cilantro, I immediately took pictures and even separated some of the leaves. When I called the restaurant to report the issue I spoke to 2 people, where it was insisted that there is no cilantro in the recipe at all. My order was read out loud acknowledging the no cilantro option, and the ingredients for the dish were checked. This is definitely cilantro, and while I was refunded for the item, the point is food safety. I would be extremely concerned going to this establishment if I had allergies or more serious dietary restrictions. read more

This is a new establish here in Metuchen and it's all the craze, but well worth the reviews. Meximodo is the new hot restaurant in the area. The decor itself makes you feel in between Mexico and Miami. You will spend a lot of time looking at the decor. The ambience is also nice. We went on a rainy day and felt like we stepped into a ray of sunlight. The menu has a good amount of options and the drinks are strong!!! . I had the Red Snapper and it felt like a bomb of flavor went off in my mouth. The rice!!!! Sooooo good. I could have eaten two servings of was so tasty. The portions were large and I took the other half home for the next days lunch. Also the service is Top Tier!!!! 5 read more

A very cute place with good food and service. I've been here for both dinner and brunch. Can be a little pricey for Mexican food but I don't mind paying as long as I enjoy my meal. Both meals were delicious. My only complaint is that I wish my food was hotter. I would come back though. read more
I have seen so many tiktoks and instagram reels of Meximodo in the past couple months, so I was extremely excited to finally try it. I've previously walked by the restaurant and both from looking through the windows and their social media presence, the inside looks stunning! I made a late dinner reservation for our group at 8:30 pm and upon our arrival, the lobby was more crowded than we expected. After checking in with the hostess, we still had to wait an additional 20 minutes to be seated. Once seated, the manager asked that we move to a different table to seat another party, which was a bit disruptive, but she offered us complimentary dessert, which was appreciated! One of my friends ordered a drink and for entrees, we got the chicken tacos with beans and rice on the side, pork belly tacos and enchiladas with green sauce. The beans and rice were notably pricey for a side, but we were satisfied with the size of it. Everything was presented nicely, but the enchiladas were small for the amount we were charged. In my opinion, my pulled pork tacos were lacking. There seemed to be a lack of filling within the taco other than the pulled pork, a couple red onion strips, and cilantro, so I ended up not finishing it. The drink was disappointing to say the least. An ice cube the size of the entire glass was found in the cup with a comparably small amount of the liquid. For our complimentary dessert, we ordered the corn flan, as we previously heard from others that the lava cake and churros were unremarkable. The flan was beautifully presented and not bad, although the texture suffered from flans i have previously had. Overall, the food at Meximodo did not meet my expectations and the wait even with a reservation was surprising. However, the ambiance and vibe of the place, as well as the presentation of the food was spectacular. I will not be returning to Meximodo, but I think it's worth visiting once! read more
A fresh authentic Mexican dining experience with amazing ambiance and a beautiful bar with more selections of tequila than anyplace I've ever been to in NJ or New York. The service was swift and courteous. Although it was packed, those with reservations were seated in a timely manner. The drinks are strong and expertly crafted. I recommend La Catrina and Cantarito. The tequila flights come in four and are a generous pour with the most extensive tequila menu I've ever seen. The street-style corn and ceviche are delicious and the red snapper and enmolada were cooked well. The corn flan for dessert was just the right amount of sweet. read more

I was really excited to go to Meximodo and my friend got reservations in advance to celebrate my belated birthday. The ambiance is so nice and loved the mural on the wall. The service is good too. It is loud so conversations are a little hard to hear. The complimentary chips and salsas are really great. The spicy street style corn was my favorite and a must get appetizer! The guacamole was yum too. I did ask for jalapeños on the side as I love my guac spicier. The spicy margarita was so good too. The tropical tacos are light and refreshing. Lots of vegetarian options on the menu. Definitely get reservations in advance as this place gets crowded. There is a garage behind the restaurant and you can get your parking ticket validated by the restaurant. read more
We made a brunch reservation for a party of five on the Saturday before Christmas. We had a short wait for a table as the restaurant was very busy. Jonathan was our server. He was very attentive and helpful with the menu options. We all tried different things, chicken and waffles, tres leches french toast, enchiladas rojas con pollo, chilaquiles, and a GIANT meximodo salad. We also tried two kinds of guac. I recommend the pineapple and mango version. Seems like an odd combination, but the flavors work. The popcorn at the table is so random, but the flavoring makes it addictive. With tip and a few drinks, you're possibly looking at around $75/head out the door, so bring your wallet. It is a great splurge when you're with almost all of your favorite people. read more

I was invited to attend this restaurant preview, and I was excited! When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked into a lively and beautifully decorated restaurant. The hostess sat us upstairs. We were served by a good wait staff and also met the young chef! I had a couple of great cocktails, including the red sangria and the old fashioned. For my meal, I got the shrimp tacos and the red snapper, and both were good. I also tasted the chips and guacamole! I had a wonderful time! read more

Beautiful space. Slightly overwhelming with the tons of tequila options, but try the mango and dragonfruit margaritas. This feels like an upscale Mexican restaurant so entrees don't come with sides. I highly recommend the street corn. It's a unique approach to this appetizer. The shrimp tacos were flavorful. The guacamole with chorizo was good but I probably wouldn't order it again. And churros are a great choice for dessert. The waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. They validate parking for the parking lot behind the restaurant so be sure to bring your ticket. read more
I've seen Meximodo so much online, I knew I needed to stop by when I was in Metuchen. My friends and I were going to go for lunch but got there too late. We decided to stop by for drinks and I'm so glad we did! The drinks were great; the menu is really vast and unique and there's something for everyone. Their specialty is tequila and they have a whole wall filled with different brands. It was fun to look at the wall and read on the different brands they have. I only got one drink because it was really strong. Our waitress was really kind and she explained to me what the best drinks were and what the best tequilas were. I definitely want to swing by again and try out their food! read more

This is a beautiful establishment located in the town center of Metuchen. At the very beginning my parking fears were kicked into high gear, only to find out after circling a couple of times that there was a parking garage towards the back of the restaurant, which was great, considering that the first 3 hours were free. The food was decent, nothing was terrible, I had the tres leches french toast, however it was giving very regular french toast, to me, expected more tres and leches. However, it was palatable. I liked my drink, it was a mango margarita mock-tail. The prices were decent for Sunday brunch, no real complaints there. I would return to explore other menu options, service was good, the ambiance and music passes the vibes check. read more
Me and my wife came here on a Friday night. With no reservations and only had to wait 30 min for a bar spot. Can't complain. It's super hard to get reservations but I must say the food ambiance and staff are truelly amazing. The food was awesome. We had shrimp tacos and ceviche. The place was packed. I walked in without a reservation and didn't hv to wait. Got seated promptly. Beautiful decor loved the bar area. Too many colors that blend in beautifully. Prices for Metuchen $$ downtown prices. I had the chicken with this green that tasted like ginger. Not to my liking. The Cheviche was another plate that I didn't enjoyed. Something else was missing to make it tasty. Now the service in overall was exceptional from the start til the end. There is certainly a thing as Instagram vs reality... I had so much anticipation waiting to check out this place! What a major let down. I will say the decor is amazing but the food/service did not match. My first visit was this past Saturday for brunch. Initially I wanted to order " Corn Masa Pancake" my simple was request was I just wanted the pancake with the butter that's all. I did not ask for price change or anything just hold the condiments. When I asked the server she made a face, then proceeded to say I doubt it. She ask the " chef" and his response was " that's impossible " I had to laugh.. so a meal that requires you to make the corn pancakes ( separately) at that and then add all the toppings... it became " impossible ". So are you telling me this a premade meal with all the bells and whistles on it ?! Just waiting to be popped in the microwave when ordered ? I'm not one to make a big deal so I just picked something else, which was sadly horrible. Barbacoa tacos, had no authentic flavor. Just taste like beef with tomato sauce. There was a hard piece of charred meat that I had to pull out of the soft taco. No taste of cilantro...no flavor just bland. So if your looking for good food this is not the place... if your looking for great background for photos sure as drinks were lite with a heavy price. And to be told removing condiments is impossible is rather hilarious. All the hype is to get you to the door.. once in reality sets in. All I'm saying is make it make sense. Better food at hatch 44 and nothings " impossible there ! read more
All I gotta say is... damn! I waited to try Meximodo and was happy to find that it was worth the hype! I don't drink but I am a huge fan of Mexican food! What we got... Jamaica Agua Fresca (mocktail): 4/5 Cantarito (cocktail): 3/5 Chips and Salsa: 4/5 (we liked that we could add the salsa to the other dishes throughout the meal with a variety of spice levels) Margarita: 4/5 Guacamole with Mexican chorizo: 5/5 (best item of the night) Queso Fundido with candied pumpkin seeds: 5/5 (close second as the best of the night) Barbacoa Tacos: 4/5 Pork belly tacos/ 3/5 (I didn't like but my husband thought they were ok) Maria cookie ice cream: 5/5!!! So freaking good I would come back just for this! Our waitress Lexi was great. She was friendly, checked on us often enough, and answered all of our questions and even gave suggestions. The ambiance was great. Amazing decor. Music was loud but we could still hear each other talking so not bad. We came there at 4:30 PM and at 5:30 PM, they started dimming the lights. I can't wait to come back!! read more

Ambiance: The restaurant is very pretty and well decorated. Very "instagram-able." A lot of bright colors and the wall of tequila is a really nice focal point of the space. Service: Brian, our waiter was wonderful. We were a pretty large group and he was pretty attentive. Food: I thought the food was pretty good. It fits well with the location. I wouldn't say it's the best Mexican food ever but it was good. The elotes app and guac were great starters. We came for brunch and I had the chicken and waffles. The waffle was a little dry and the chicken tenders were fine nothing out of this world but pretty good still. Very well presented. My friends mentioned their food was good too. We definitely want to come back and give the dinner menu a try and start trying their tequila options. Presentation wise, this restaurant knocked it out of the park. It has really fun vibes and I bet it would be lively in the evening too. It is a noisy restaurant however that's the vibes they're going for which fits well with the decor. Would definitely come back! read more

We made reservations 2 months ago and they were fully packed. Even had a waitlist to sit at the bar. The bar is beautiful. Nice atmosphere and very lively. We ordered a few appetizers. They all looked the same which was surprising The guacamole with mango and pineapple was delicious 5/5 The fish ceviche was ok 3/5. not as flavorful as we expected The shrimp ceviche had more flavor 4/5 The cocktails were all very good. The jalapeño margarita was delicious 5/5 The old fashioned and the basil gin & tonic were also spot on 5/5 For entrees I had the red snapper. It was pretty good. The rice was simple but the pick with mango added a nice contrast to the flavors 4/5. The beef enchiladas were very tasty 4/5. And lastly we ordered the churros. They were ok 3/5. Something was missing for me to say they were great. I might try this place again in the summer. Meximodo is great from start to finish. As you approach you are greeted by a nice vibrant sign. The aesthetics don't stop there, because once you enter, you see beautiful decor that transport you to a place far away from Metuchen, New Jersey The food menu is awesome and has something for every taste bud. They have a large tequila menu complete with flights and inventive drinks. The service was awesome, as well as our waiter was very attentive to our needs, and provided some great recommendations for me and my companion. To top it all off. They also validate parking in the adjacent lot so there is no riding around the block searching for street parking. I highly recommend this establishment read more
I was very excited to try Meximodo. Like others mentioned, the ambiance was great! The decor, the music, and the tequila wall definitely stood out. My friends and I each ordered mango margaritas, it wasn't too strong but nonetheless still good. I was underwhelmed by the food. My friend and I split shrimp tacos and chicken enchiladas. The flavor of the tacos were great but in a decent size tortilla, I only saw 2 pieces of small shrimp. The chicken enchiladas tasted well too but for the price I was paying, the portions seemed too small. read more
