    Chicken enchilada mole

This was one of my favorite places to eat but I'm rethinking it today. I went today for my birthday and customer service was not what it used to be. Not only did the prices go up and the portion size got smaller and customer service who? I guess it's time to find another place to that server good Mole

    Camarones a la Diabla

Walked in at 6 pm on a monday and the first thing I noticed was a very moldy sour smell. Not sure what that was about but it immediately reduced my appetite. Their was one server and one busser, and it took way too long to get out order in. I will say that the ambience was very nice, with traditional Mexican paintings and nice seating area. They had sports on a big screen and no music. Probably good for some and bad for others. I order the Panchito, a combination of Chile relleno, tamale, enchilada, beef taco, rice and beans. My wife order the Camerones a la Diabla. My mom ordered the Chile Verde. Trust me when I tell you not a single bite was apealing...in fact the beef was questionable in color and smell. I feel like they microwave old food and throw a bunch of cheese on top to mask it. I would rather have visited the taco bell next door, honestly at least I wouldn't feel sick after. It saddens me to give two stars to a restaurant but I feel its important for others to know...stay away from this one.

Grew up going here, and so did my mom. Been here forever and is a staple Mexican spot in la mirada. Amazing food, and quick service.

We're in town on a business trip, and I have a feeling this is about to become our nightly dinner spot. The food was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and everything you want when you're craving amazing Mexican food. But what really made the experience special was our sweet server, Louroles. She was such a delight! So friendly, welcoming, and she even surprised us with a few extras just because I'm "sweet"... LOL! That kind of genuine kindness is something you don't forget. If you're anywhere near La Mirada, I highly recommend stopping by. Great food, wonderful service, and a place that instantly makes you feel like family. We'll definitely be back... probably tomorrow night!

The chilaquiles looked great. They were decorated with garnish but as soon as you bit- argh disappointing. :/// The chef is heavy-handed with salt, the red sauce that was supposed to be "spicy" tasted like salty tomato paste. Sauce had no flavor :/ The worst thing was that they were swimming in sauce that made the chilaquiles soggy. The kiss of death. Chilaquiles are supposed to be crunchy not soggy. If they were crispy when they were made they were killed by the sauce flood. My hubby had the burrito & said it was ok. I just saw all the grease of the chorizo ozzing from his burrito -gross (strain it people!) Moral of the story: Keep looking for good chilaquiles, this is NOT the spot!/

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.

Even though the restaurant is small and busy, we were seated right away, which was a great start. Our waiter Washington, was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and made our whole experience even better. The atmosphere was perfect too. They had music playing at just the right volume and a big TV showing the live Dodger game, which the kids loved. We started with chips and salsa. The salsa had the perfect level of spice for everyone at the table. The kids ordered horchatas and were excited about the unlimited refills (something you don't always see at other restaurants!). The drinks for the adults were just as impressive. My wife's watermelon margarita on the rocks was perfectly made. It was not overly sweet or syrupy like at some places. Our friends had the "El Jefe" margaritas, and they definitely didn't skimp on the tequila! For dinner, everything was a hit. The kids loved their meals. Albóndigas soup, shrimp tacos, and street tacos--all served with rice and beans. The adult dishes were just as good. The carne asada arrachera was cooked perfectly, the chile verde was full of flavor, and my chicken mole was delicious with a great balance of spicy and sweet without being overwhelming. The portions were very generous, and everything came with rice, beans, and both corn and flour tortillas. The only small thing I would've preferred differently was the chicken in my mole. I personally would've liked a leg and thigh instead of sliced chicken breast but the dish was still very good overall. What really stood out was the hospitality. At the end of the meal, Washington offered us "holy water"-house tequila shots on the house--and it wasn't cheap tequila either! Then after the bill came, he surprised us again with another round of "holy water". That level of generosity and care really impressed us. We also learned that the restaurant has been there 20+ years and is family-run by him and his siblings, which made the experience feel even more personal. You can tell they have a loyal customer base--one couple even said, "See you tomorrow Washington!" The only feedback we'd offer (coming from a customer service background) is that we noticed a few guests waiting at the entrance without being greeted, and one couple actually left the restaurant. A simple "Welcome, we'll be right with you" would go a long way. That said, it didn't take away from our experience. Overall, amazing food, great service, generous portions, and a welcoming family atmosphere. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu!
