Consistently a great restaurant! Lots of good traditional Mexican fare as well as yummy specials every day!

We have been to the Mexican Table several times over the years. We used to have a few favorite servers who always made sure we had a great experience. The last 3 times (I went back a 3rd time to make sure it wasn't an anomoly and my husband loves Mexican food) there have been issues with my order and the owner / manager has come to our table and actually argued with me, insisting that I am wrong and they have given me what was ordered. The first two times I paid for it but didn't eat it, the last time I told her I wasn't paying for it because it was wrong and she started accusing me of thinking I am "too good" for the place and they don't need my business anyway. I have no idea where that would have come from but we will not be back. read more

Yum loved the food, especially the Queso Fundido app. Great flavor with the choriza and really like how they did the peppers separately. We are always looking for a good Mexican restaurant and so many times have been disappointed. Good margaritas and sangria too. This one is our new favorite! read more

We've been here plenty of times and the food never disappoints. The drinks are great...they may taste like fruit juice, but half way through the drink you realize it's WAY stronger than you thought!!! Service is great, everyone is super friendly. We had a late lunch at Mexican Table after a visit to Longwood Gardens. The food was quite good. I had a chimichanga that was well prepared and fried enough, but not excessively so. The flavors came through nicely. I could have taken it a bit spicier, but I really enjoyed it. The rice was particularly good and the refried beans were good too. My wife had duck enchiladas that were delicious. Hers came with black beans and we did not like them quite as much as the refried ones. The salsa was exceptionally good, although that meant we ate way too many chips! The service was good. We'd definitely go back. read more

The Mexican Table is our favorite Mexican restaurant. It goes beyond the standard fare. There are always innovative and flavorful selections on the menu beginning with soup. On today's visit, for example, I started my lunch with cream of sunchoke soup and I am not sure what a sunchoke is. What it was was very good, tasting like a cross between mushroom and corn soup. My wife stepped out of her comfort zone and ordered the pork chop with broccoli and mashed potatoes in a slightly sweet and sour sauce. She enjoyed it. We always get the house margarita which is always delicious but neither cloyingly sweet nor sour. It is a deal. The only better margarita was at the Coyote Cafe on Lancaster Avenue in Wilmington..... closed now for over 30 years. Hats off to the staff, always friendly and accommodating. Today again we were well taken care of by Francisco. He is professional and several times checked to see if we were satisfied. We were. Apparently Mexican Table has some kind of rewards points earned by every visit. We have enough for a free meal but in these days of pandemic pain inflicted on the hospitality industry, we have no intention of using our points. read more

I'll start off by saying the food was okay. However, the food runner who served me and my boyfriend was not wearing a mask AT ALL. We were sat near the back of the restaurant by the bar where all of the employees hung out. EVERY SINGLE employee had their masks around their necks while making drinks. Employees were eating at the bar, not washing their hands and then serving customers. I could see into the kitchen and again no one was wearing their masks. This made the entire meal impossible to enjoy and honestly quite disgusting and concerning. I have severe asthma and if I could wear a mask while eating my food I would but I can't so the staff of Mexican table should be taking the proper precautions to ensure their customers are happy and stay healthy. I will never be going back again because if the employees at this restaurant cannot follow safety regulations during a PANDEMIC what other health and safety regulations/practices are they overlooking? read more

Not impressed. I ordered the Pechuga Rellena - chicken was in the pan a little too long. It was tough and the bottom was overcooked. The mole was decent, but far from the best I've had. Service was also super slow. I was waiting to order another margerita while I was eating, but the server didn't show for another 25 minutes. By then I was ready for the check. Next time, I'll drive the extra 10 minutes to Taqueria Moroleon. read more

A group of 9 of us visited Mexican Table on a Thursday evening. We called ahead and weren't sure exactly how many were going to attend, but they were flexible and friendly about our uncertainty. They have a very nice assortment of Margaritas, and they were nicely mixed and very generously sized. The chips and salsa on the table were tasty, and refilled multiple times at no charge. I ordered the Carnitas con Nopalitos, which was excellent, very fairly priced and nicely portioned (enough for leftovers!) The service (especially for a larger group) was excellent and the waitperson was very friendly. When it came time to serve us, other waitstaff joined in to make sure we all got our dishes promptly. We were too full to have dessert, but we all left full, happy, and very satisfied. I don't visit Hockessin often, but this is probably one of my go-to spots to eat. Nice job! read more

Somehow, I didn't think it was possible, but they actually started making good food again. I had this place on my never go to again list but someone else wanted to go here. It took some time for our food, but it was not that long of a wait. The duck tacos and duck enchiladas, while not traditional, are very good. Still a bit expensive for Mexican food. Their menu is unique and doesn't have the same boring food that you find at all the other Mexican restaurants. They don't have a bar crowd like many of the other local Maxican restaurants. The bartender is very slow making drinks. They have oddly timed drink specials. Like reduced price draft beer, but no real happy hour specials. And the house margaritas are the same as they have been for years. Sometimes they add tequila. The staff are friendly but I still find they miss things. Like one person in our group asked for water and it came after the second request. If remembering what people ask for is that hard, then write it down. I can understand when it is busy and they have many tables, but serving two tables should be easy. read more

I had a pretty mediocre experience here. It was later on a Tuesday night. I waited for awhile at the host stand for someone to come seat me. Our server was very nice. I ordered enchiladas, and they were fine. They weren't really anything special, and I've certainly had much better enchiladas at places not too far away. I was hoping to be in and out pretty quickly, but we waited a really long time for the check. And then waited longer to pay. And then longer to get the receipt to sign. All in all, the payment process took around 25 minutes. That would have been more understandable had it been busy, but there were maybe 2 other tables occupied. I could hear the staff in the bar area talking and goofing around--that didn't bother me, but what did bother me was that it seemed like they were goofing off instead of helping customers. Given that and my overall "meh" feeling about the food, I don't think I'd come back or recommend this restaurant, but I wouldn't actively discourage others from giving it a try. read more

I've notice that very few people complain about the food but many complain about other things. I'm in the "other things" category. Food was fine. Nothing to write home about. Nothing drives me nuts more than a business acting like they are doing me a flippin favor. Slow service. I should not have to wait 15 minutes for my check. I don't mind paying a fair price BUT paying a dollar for an ounce of extra salsa...really?...what's the point? Is it really that expensive to make such a point?.. and a dollar for a few extra cuts of jalapeño in a $6.00 scoop of guacamole....ditto...ditto...ditto. I will never go back. I will tell everyone I can to do the same. They made their point. I was a nuisance to them. When they lose customers because of their stupidly, they will sit and complain about the fact that nobody has money to eat out any more. HaHaHa! read more

We love the Mexican Table. It is not your run-of-the-mill Tex-Mex fair. Each dish is unique and prepared with care. I have so may favorites that we go there often. The staff is friendly and attentive. It doesn't get much better than this. read more

A friend and I stopped in to check this place out. We were greeted promptly and seated. Our drinks arrived quickly and after debating what to choose from the menu, the waitress helped me decide when she mentioned the short rib special. We ordered wings as an appetizer. 8 wings with a sweet barbecue chipotle sauce. (Not really spicy) When our main course arrived, it wasn't as large as the price suggested, so I'm glad we opted for the appetizers, which we normally don't. The food was delicious and we decided to top it off with the Fried Ice Cream. Although it was good, it was smaller at this place than we're use to having at other Mexican restaurants. So, in summary, although I thoroughly enjoyed the food, the portions were smaller than the price tag. Bill came to $43 for lunch. I would still tell people to try this place though. read more

Just had dinner at the bar and everything was excellent. Highly recommend the tortilla soup. It's much lighter then other tortilla soups I've tried but loaded with flavor. Table enchiladas (red sauce) were very nice and the fajitas were as well. Margheritas with fresh lime juice and Patron were outstanding. We have been getting food to go and they have been outstanding. My son always gets the Duck Enchiladas, whereas my wife and I have sampled the menu. Everything is great. We ordered takeout for Cinco de Mayo. We knew it would be busy so we placed our order at 2pm that day for a 7pm pick up. My husband got there just before 7pm and waited over an hour before being told it would be yet ANOTHER hour for our order to be ready. Not sure what the point was of placing an online order well in advance if it was still going to be over two hours late. No one was social distancing and the entire place was a disorderly mess. We were SO excited for margaritas, too. Hence this scathing review. read more

You won't be disappointed if you know what you're getting: this place has great atmosphere and decor. It is not a hole-in-the-wall place. They have a liquor license, so you can get things like margaritas. The food is good, but not great. This is the perfect place to sit down and have a meal and drinks with friends, but the food probably won't be the best of anything you've ever had. read more

The best authentic spot around! Staff is always really friendly. For example we showed up on a Saturday before cinco de mayo without reservations. They were not mad but ecstatic we were there and made it work by putting two tables together so we could have a table that fit our party. The food is always on point and never a long wait or rushed out. Appetizers and your meal come out spaced appropriately. The waitress staff are alway attentive and it seems like everyone truly cares that you have a good meal and experience. I'm not sure if this is family run or not. But the feel of this place makes it seem as though it is. I can not say enough good things about this place. And I think I am not alone as it will get busy, so calling ahead might be a good idea. So we gave Mexican Table a second chance. And I am glad that we did. Several friends told me how great it was after my prior poor review. The previous time was at lunch and I was very unimpressed. Tonight for dinner, it was a very different story. Our margaritas tasted amazing and were very strong, as several reviews said. My wife and I each had two and definitely could not have handled a third. The guacamole and salsa was delicious as several reviews said. We split a pulled beef chimichanga because other reviews said that the chicken was bland. It was delicious. The refried beans were very, very, good which was unexpected but appreciated. Service was excellent. The only negative, was that there was a little tomato that was stuck on my knife from the dishwasher. I was happy to overlook it since the food and drinks were very good. read more
