The Ware location is much better than the Spencer one. Killer margaritas, friendly service, delicious food-definitely is a hidden treasure in Ware. read more

My neighbor & I ate at the Ware Mexicali Grill last Friday! It was full & we had to wait to be seated. We just went shopping at Dave's next door. The decor is fun and fresh! Service was beyond reproach! Our order came fresh from the kitchen! The food was delicious service was swift and well organized! There was no sense of "hurry, eat, get out so we can seat others!" It was refreshing to be able to sit & thoroughly enjoy the meal & atmosphere! The only snag was the rather long wait for our bill, but we didn't really care! I think the Ware Grill is almost better than the Spencer Grill. We will definitely be back! read more

Went here a few weeks ago. Sat at the bar. They have sports on the TVs above the bar, which is a plus, but the real bonus is the food. This is the best Mexican food I've eaten in Western Mass. I can't believe this place is a chain (albeit a small one). I had a combo with chicken enchilada, tamale and chile relleno. It was all excellent. I also asked if they could sub grilled onions and peppers for the beans and it was no problem. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The Ultimate margarita was also excellent. If I had to knock one thing it would be their draft selection. The menu said Modelo Especial but they didn't have it. read more

I love the warm chips and the spicy, but not too hot, salsa. I usually get the Mexicali burrito and it's always delicious and always well cooked I never had a problem here and hopefully never will. They are also very sweet with making my burrito specifically the way I asked him to. And they're very patient with my 4 yr old daughter. read more

After one of my coworkers told me they have had great meals here I decided to give it a try. The margarita and service was very good, but the food was pretty bland. I would however highly recommend the southwest quesadilla as those were tasty. I'm willing to give this place another chance but I am in no rush. read more

It's good. Nothing spectacular though. Glad we used a Groupon. I had a shrimp quesadilla, it was exceptionally greasy. Used a napkin to dab it up. read more

Good food and pleasant staff make this a great option for going out to eat. Plus you can't beat the $1 tacos on Tuesdays.

Happy to see a new restaurant in Ware. We love the tortilla chips and salsa as an appetizer. We always get the Fajitas but someday I will try something different! Lol. Sharing a Fried Ice Cream is a must too! I save room for it by eating only half my meal. Generous portions! Sometimes service is better than others but I believe they will figure it out! read more

Pleasantly surprised! The service was excellent and all the staff made you feel as though they were excited to serve you. Very hard to find lately! The drinks were excellent and the food; DELICIOUS! My only bugaboo about this place is it is really small and very crowded. read more

The food is always fresh and well seasoned, and you get a large portion for the price you pay. The staff is very friendly, and they provide fast and helpful service. I love their homemade salsa and chips. Everything we have had so far has been outstanding. I would definitely recommend giving it a try! read more

Really great!! I have lived in the town over my entire life and never expected there to be a decent restaurant so close! I was skeptical at first but was very pleased once I arrived. The atmosphere is very nice and inviting. The food arrived at our table approximately 5 minutes after we ordered! The food was fantastic! I would highly recommend. read more

My experience at Mexicali was very mixed. On the one hand the service was great. Our waitress made us feel like VIPs. Our teenage daughter was very trying and our waitress handled it supurbly and kindly. We were responded to quickly and she really made us feel special. The food however left a lot to be desired. The chips and salsa was pretty bad. The chips were ok but we received two salsas. The first was like sweet spaghetti sauce such as a more puréed Prego. The second salsa was overpowered by the taste of onion. I hate onions but most salsas I can tolerate it if I eat around the chunks, but I couldn't do it here. All of our entrees were very bland. While I don't expect it to be really spicy, there was no kick. The most flavor I got from my entree was from the Monterrey jack cheese. Having some condiments at the table to supplement the taste might have salvaged the meal. Interestingly enough it tasted better when we got it back to the house and reheated the leftovers. That's when I could add some more flavorful sauces and chilies. Overall if the head chef could really spice up the menu, this has the potential to be a real hidden gem out in the Ware area. The wait staff of the restaurant really are what makes this place shine. read more

Great food. Fast service. Great drinks. I have gone here with my husband and ordered two combos and two drinks and still spent under $50.

For the most part, the food was very good. The guacamole and salsa were very fresh, the mole was a lil bland and was a tad sweet. I found it peculiar to have potato in my enchilada. Tacos were excellent. One gripe is that I should not have to sit there with an empty glass of water. read more

A lot of reviews here discuss how good their margaritas are - I am sure they are great, but I wish the food was as good. The home made tortilla chips, salsa and guacamole were good, but after that it left a lot to be desired. My children are gluten free so we ordered ground beef tacos fro them - easy right? No. Our server came back and said they had gluten in them - plain ground beef tacos..? The only answer here is they add filler to their meat. So they made them steak ones chopped small - small and overcooked and crunchy tough. My shrimp and bacon tacos were oily and bland, my other child's enchiladas were not enchiladas but just the same dry steak in the others beef taco. I am a hash critic but I also praise when I think it is good. I am sure they must have good things on the menu as there are plenty of good reviews or maybe every one smashes margaritas and by the time they eat, they don't care. read more

i loveeee this. honestly, this needs to be rated higher. ive been many times and this place never disappoints. good everything perfectly, they dont cut corners when they make their food. the steak and chicken and beans and fries is my go-to. this place.needs more love, it would be a shame to see it go... read more

good food, nice atmosphere, good service. ridiculously over-priced

My family went to Mexicali last night. The staff were very friendly and we were seated immediately. We ordered The Sampler Platter. The Mexicali Burrito. The Grilled Chick Quesadilla and the Fajita Burger. I found the food delicious, we mixed and matched our meals and really tried everything out. The Mexicali Burrito was definitely a highlight dish as the portion was immense and they definitely didn't skimp on the filling of it. It was quite the monster and i wholeheartedly recommend it to someone who wants a huge burrito to munch on. The french fries that came with the Fajita were delicious as well and I could see myself happily eating those haha. Definitely do not judge the restaurant by the outside as it looks rather raggedy, the inside is beautiful and really well designed. Its quite the shocker considering the outside is kind of meh store-fronty. I did have an issue with the portion size of the Quesadilla meal as it was rather small compared to everything else we ordered and left feed back on their website. I was really happily surprised when I received a well written response back. Overall my family and I had a very positive experience and will very likely go back and eat there again. I really hope people enjoy the restaurant as much as my family and I did Best wishes Chris read more

Mexicali Cantina Grill - Ware - Mexican Near Me - Ware, Massachusetts

Love this place. Their soups are amazing. Good customer service. Fantastic drinks and selection. Try the stir fry!!

Not at all what I was hoping for. My combo plate was flavorless mush. Chimichanga not even slightly crisp. Tasted same as burrito. Tamale was the worse I ever had. They are usually my favorite :( My husbands steak and shrimp fajita was over-cooked and dry. NOT worth the $41 it cost. I left most of my food. Salsa was pretty good, tasted fresh. read more

Who would have thought great Mexican food in ware ma! Not this girl. My friends and I dined here last night. The fajitas were sizzling with flavor and fresh, with enough to feed a small army. Margaritas were equally delicious. Can't wait to return. read more

I went there for lunch on Tuesday with a couple people from work and it was good as usual. I had the taco salad which was just enough for lunch. Went again Wednesday night for my son's birthday. There was 6 of us and we were seated right away. Could not say enough about how great it was. The drinks, food, service and to the great crew that work there everything was perfect. Went to the Spencer location many times and couldn't wait for you to open in Ware. Will be visiting you many more times. read more

I was telling my husband I wanted one last attempt at local Mexican food due to the complete failure of the last 5 or more restaurants that have served us complete slop. I figured having never been to "Mexicali" in Ware before, this would be a great opportunity to try the "Fresh Mex Grill". Mmm fresh! Sounds right up my alley! I decided to try the Baha fish tacos. They were done in literally two and a half minutes and came out saturating in their own pools of red and yellow grease. The fish smell was like that of a goldfish, bottomed up in it's bowl, for several weeks in the sun. Mmm fresh! My husband's tamales were unidentifiable, and my savior was the ill tasting ice water in which I insisted the waitress leave the pitcher at the table for this inedible emergency we were having. The after taste of the water was like a toilet in lake Quinsig. They quickly replaced my fish tacos with rubber band like, purple centered steak fajitas. If it wasn't for my husband being very happy with the TVs above the urinals in the bathroom and the diet coke that was, as he put it, "on point", I would have given this review zero stars. I only needed to clean a few food items off my seat before sitting, so I guess it wasn't too bad. All in all, I wanted to hit Yelp, not the bathroom. read more

Been going here since they opened. I get take out once or twice a week. today i order 16 wings. Asked for some extra carrots and was told new man manger charges $3 for that. Also the guy taking my order. Continued to stay on the phone. Just lost a customer! I wont be back read more

My favorite Mexican restaurant. Service is always great, and the food is delicious! Love the freshly made guacamole

First timer; good food, awesome margueritas, excellent service... will be back!

Weak attempt at authentic Mexican. Traditional Mexican should not taste like a Trader Joe's frozen entree. Mediocre interior decor, curt staff , pedestrian margaritas. second visit and last . Not worth it . read more

Best Mexican restaurant around! I've eaten there 6 or 7 times now and their food is always top notch. The servers are friendly and the kitchen gets the food out very quickly. I always get the table side quacamole, it's the best guac I've ever had. Can't recommend it enough. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. In an area where finding a good restaurant is difficult, Mexicali is a breath of fresh air. The food is delicious. The prices are more than reasonable. The service is outstanding. They were so attentive and welcoming. We ordered take out from them about a month ago and were very impressed with the portions and amazing chips and salsa. We went last night to eat inside the restaurant and we brought our two children. The kid's menu was very inexpensive and the portions were huge. My son's cheeseburger had fresh lettuce and tomato on it. We are going to make this a weekly outing. We all had such a nice time. read more

This place is a gem! The staff could not be more accommodating and polite. There is such a wide variety of food, and everyone is quick to describe dishes for people (like me) who are not familiar with Mexican cuisine. Food is fresh, served promptly and hot! The bar menu offers many different choices, and the bar staff is amazing. The owners are friendly and make a point of getting to know the customers by name, and remembering what they liked 'the last time'! Didn't know I liked Mexican food until I tried Mexicali in Ware, MA!! read more

Got some take out last night. The order was to be ready in ten mins. I arrived a couple of minutes early and it was waiting for me. The food was ice cold; the chicken in the quesadillas was like paste; the beans were hard and dry in the burrito; and was that steak in the grilled burrito? I think not. It was tough and chewy. All in all, the food was horrific and I will never eat there again. read more

The atmosphere is really pleasant, and the food is quite yummy. The chips served with salsa and guacamole are extremely addictive. A bit pricey, but worth it. read more

If you don't order drinks, you won't see your waitress (Alejandra)! Mexicali in Spencer used to be our favorite place. My husband had the rare opportunity to go out on Friday without the kids to celebrate our anniversary. Neither of us drink alcohol. Our waitress (Alejandra) took her sweet time coming to our table (12 minutes to be exact) just so we could order. We ordered our meals and drinks at the same time. When we said we wanted waters, she slammed her little book and said, "water? okay." Then another 4 minutes and the bus boy delivered our water. Alejandra spent her time chatting with all the tables AROUND us (who were ordering drinks over and over) and she never came to refill waters or ask how our meals were. My husband had to interrupt one of her social sessions just to get our check and get out of there. It's a shame because we loved Mexicali. The bus boy deserved her tip as she did nothing! read more

I went with my family hoping to find a good Mexican restaurant close by. I have to say I was underwhelmed. It was typical southwest, tex-mex fare. The place was clearly suffering from classic signs of bad habits. For example, when we got our food the plates were scorching hot from being left on the pass-over for a long time. The rice had hardened from being placed on the plate long before the main course was ready. Which was a pork chimichanga. The rice itself tasted like it came out of a box, not fresh at all. My wife had the enchilada with mole. The mole tasted like it came out of a can. Mole is supposed to be made over a long period of time with deep flavors not like salt. I had also ordered a moonlight margarita. The whole point of ordering a special margarita is its not supposed to taste like the house margarita and was not made with the top shelf 1800 tequila but more like the stuff that comes out of the plastic bottle. Not to mention the glass was dirty but I drank it anyway. It was that dirty glass to which I believe led to my spending the hour after I left on the toilet. The chips and salsa at the beginning was fine but still standard fare. It seems the only way to get good Mexican is to still drive all the way down to New Haven, CT at the 91/95 interchange and get it from on of the food trucks. They kill it down there and put this place to shame. read more
