Mexicali cantina is located in what I would describe as a strip mall. Very nicely decorated inside and we were greeted warmly. I ordered a patron margarita and my wife got a coke which was delivered promptly with fresh chips and a carafe of homemade salsa. I had a trio platter of enchilada, tamales and burritos. Very delicious served with rice and some creamy refried beans. My wife opted for a burrito bowl with shredded pork which she thoroughly enjoyed. We go to Mexicali 2 to 3 times a month and we have never been disappointed. The service is always good We sit / eat at the bar mostly and Juliseo always greets us with a smile and fist bump, and he knows exactly the drinks we want before we sit down. He's great!! The food is fresh and tastes great ! Drinks are full and they don't skimp on the alcohol. Let's be real however, it's not a linen tablecloth and crystal chandelier establishment but it is definitely a 5 star, good time, neighborhood place to frequent! read more

!!BE WARNED!! Mexicali in Ware "conveniently lost" my card just for it to turn up when I walked back inside to see if anything had turned up when they said they would call. I was enjoying dinner when the bill was brought back to me with no card in the holder I tried to flag down the man and he couldn't hear me so I got up and said "excuse me my card isn't in here" then they "looked" for my card for 2-3 minutes I left once he took my information to give me a call once my card was found and then sat in the car for 10 minutes because I felt it would turn up it's not that big of a restaurant. I went back into the restaurant and mysteriously the card had turned up at the front of the restaurant in a drawer without the managers knowing. Beware keep careful tabs on your card not sure what's going on if it was a mistake or not but was a shady situation. read more

This is the best place for Mexican food in all of New England. I am from Texas and this is as close to authentic Tex-Mex as you can get. The service is fantastic and the owners are super friendly. Arrived there with my parents and my daughter in her car seat. They sat us a a booth that was a little too small, but we made it work. Our server was very friendly and engaged all of us, including the baby which I appreciated. Chips and salsa is always welcomed. I ordered the seafood enchiladas and they were quite good. However, I did not know they came with mushrooms inside them as well and I haaaate shrooms. But I managed. The only other thing too is that (yes I realize they're SEAFOOD enchiladas) they tasted very fishy. Almost weirdly too fishy. But they were yummy and I ate them. I really like Mexicali. We first heard of them through eating at their Spencer MA location and were excited to hear that they opened up in nearby Ware. We've been semi-regulars for over a year. I make it a point to order something different every time and have not been disappointed yet. Some standouts are the arroz con pollo, the Mexicali stir fry, fajitas, pollo tamales (con salsa verde), Puerco Adovado, and Camarones Mojo de Ajo. I've been to Mexicali a few times for drinks and food before. I've never had a bad meal there and seem to be pleased every time I go. Yesterday, I went to Mexicali during a snowstorm. The bartender Lisa was working. It was very busy, she was working tables and managing the bar and doing a great job. We had drinks and fajitas at the bar both were pretty good. We left, I get a message on my phone from Lisa the bartender at Mexicali that I had left my wallet! I was nervous because I had over $100 in my wallet.
