    Enchiladas Trio

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area to go to! I can't believe I haven't written a review yet. This is the best Mexican food that you can find in the area by far. It's not the most authentic taste I've ever had, but it certainly meets my expectations when I'm craving enchiladas. I love that there are a ton of options for vegetarians that are flavorful and protein-packed. The servings are very generous as well! I have never had a problem with the service here. It's also certainly not too loud, so you can eat while having conversations with a large party. Looking forward to coming back soon!

I love it here. And my family does too. ALL of my meals (and drinks!) here over the years have been great. They never disappoint! 5 stars every day from me!!!! I love the Vallarta Salad with grilled shrimp and if you go you need to try their guacamole!!!! Oh- almost forgot- I'm not sure if it's the tequila or the loud music they blast in the restroom, but this is the ONLY restaurant bathroom that I legitimately DANCE in!!!!

My rating reflects the poor service and unbearable entertainment during our most recent visit to Mexicali on New Year's Day evening, not the food. In all the times we've patronized Mexicali over the years, this was the first time we received really bad service, and were unnerved by the atmosphere. We were promptly seated in a booth after our 5 p.m. arrival. A handful of people were eating or drinking at the bar, and the dining room had a couple of tables filled with customers. We noted that the dining room itself was manned by several servers, so lack of staff and bustling business could not possibly be the reason for the subpar service we received. Our very blasé server (I will not mention her name) didn't appear at our table with menus for several minutes. It took another several minutes for our simple drinks (a beer and an iced tea) to be delivered to us. When they did arrive, I was disappointed to see that my iced tea glass was only about two-thirds full with warmish tea and a couple of melting ice cubes (the tea must have just been brewed), and was garnished with a tiny limp piece of lemon which rendered only a tiny amount of juice. My companion's Modelo Negro was fine. For the most part, our food was very good. But, again, timing was off. We weren't sure if it was the fault of our server or the kitchen expeditor. The flour tortillas for our fajitas, though they were in small warmers, were brought to us way too early (3 small tortillas to each order. We wished we'd had one more tortilla a piece). About 10 minutes later, while they were rapidly cooling off, our sides and condiments were brought out. We waited another 15 minutes for our sizzling platters of fajitas. My pork and my companion's chicken fajitas were very good: of ample size, well-seasoned, well-charred, and screaming hot. The sides were good as well. No complaints here. From the time of our arrival until we finished our dinners, we were plagued by an awful musician. This so-called guitarist/singer spent the majority of his time tuning his guitar and doing sound checks, which was extremely annoying. When he did finally find the courage to perform, his cover song selections were questionable and badly executed. Did anyone actually audition this dude? The guy also had the audacity to put out a small white bucket reading "Tips 4 Bait." What the heck?! He should stick to fishing and hang up his guitar and microphone. I actually felt a little bad for him as no one applauded any of his renditions. Note to Mexicali management: PLEASE stick to piped-in traditional music or hire a mariachi band when you feel live music is necessary.

Used to be pretty good, but quality of food has declined in the past six months. The bacon chicken avocado sandwich was fantastic just six months ago with a jack piece of chicken breast complemented by the other ingredients. Now we had to search for the chicken scraps, which were overwhelmed by everything else on the sandwich.

It already gives a great first impression. Service is quick and the restaurant is very clean. The chips and salsa are the usual for what you expect with warm chips and refreshing salsa. (Richard Thompson) No doubt, our always perceptive Yelpers have figured out the link between Condesa and the lyrics - Condesa = Contessa in Spanish. Condesa has four locations in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The Sturbridge location is on the extreme left side of a big shopping plaza -look for the Shaw's Market and Ocean State Job Lot. The first thing you'll notice when you walk inside is the Día de (los) Muertos (Day of the Dead) artwork pretty much everywhere on the walls. They have two indoor dining rooms and a covered outdoors dining area, where we had our lunch on a beautiful summer day. Our server Moises was polite and friendly and started us off with a big portion of complimentary ships and salsa. The chips were fresh and still warm and the mildly spiced salsa was excellent. Our lunch was a TACO SALAD ($14) described on the menu as "Grilled chicken, mixed greens, fire roasted corn, Pico de Gallo, cilantro vinaigrette, queso fresco, and tortilla strips". It was served in one of those ubiquitous fried tortilla shells which I would have declined had I known it. I passed on the vinaigrette in favor of that great salsa for my dressing, and declined the queso, and tortilla strips. The grilled chicken was absolutely fantastic. It was pounded so thin, it had ended up being about the same size as the bowl it was served in. And whatever they used to season it was wonderful! Under that blanket of chicken were fresh greens, and a few sprinkles of corn and Pico. Adding their salsa as a dressing made it a winner of a meal. My wife ordered their CHICKEN QUESADILLA ($14). The four big wedges had a generous portion of grilled chicken and cheese, topped with sour cream, queso fresco, and Pico de Gallo. I sampled a forkful and loved the flavor and noticed a pretty generous layer of cheese in with the chicken. My club soda with two lemon wedges was $3. Service from Moises was OK, he was super pleasant when we interacted with us and when we asked for a water and salsa refill. All in all, our $33 after tax-before tip lunch was perfectly fine.

Maybe it was due to the weather or the fact that it's in an out of the way location. The inside is cute and clean. Lots of Mexican artwork. Their menu has lots of options, but we went with a lunch sized fajita quesadilla and the fiesta burrito. They gave us a lot of food for less than $40 - great value. The chips were thin and warm, which I really enjoyed. The salsa was not hot and had a nice hint of garlic. My burrito was served with a healthy serving of guacamole and sour cream, Mexican rice, and black beans. I loved that the beans were not overly salty and everything was well-spiced. The tortilla was thin, which I enjoyed, and was packed with peppers, onions, steak and cheese. My spouse's quesadilla was filling and well proportioned with cheese, peppers, chicken and onions. We were both so stuffed! The service was a little slow, but efficient , and the presentation was beautiful as you'll see in the photos. We will definitely be back to try more food. Maybe I'll see what's spicy next time!

The place is huge, on point cultural music (albeit loud- I'm old I like quieter) and the queer o meter is a perfect 10. Most excellent. The complimentary chips n salad were delicious. Thin, warm and lightly salted with just enough heat to the salsa and nice flavor. The rest is pretty straightforward- a chicken quesadilla that was jammed with cheese. It oozed out of the sides. And a steak fajita - both were very very good. The fajita had a great flavor, hot and piled high with peppers and onions. The steak slices were tender and delicious too - I will put out there that might be the only "con" it, in my opinion, could've done with 3 or 4 more slices of steak. However there is an epic amount of the peppers and onion which I 100% appreciate. Our waitress was so friendly and top notch. Accommodating and available without hovering. Food was delicious, service wonderful and atmosphere comfortable (sans loud music ha ha) The prices seem to be higher than other Mexican places - ie. The fajita was $21 and usually I'd venture to say that's the shrimp or combo cost, not steak or chicken. So overall they are about $3 higher. In the end I was fine with that bc it's really good and I would go back! Thank you El Patron Corona!! Cheers!
