Overall rating: 9/10 authentic Mexican flavor My partner and I visited on Monday, to have a casual dinner. First Impression, I did not know if I was supposed to wait by the door to be seated or approach the counter pass the bar but once I was noticed a minute later, I was kindly greeted and told to sit anywhere. A few people were at the bar and 2 other tables were there. Daniela was our server and she was nice, fast, and attentive. We had drinks, apps served within 20 minutes and food served right when we were done with apps. The food here is well portioned and affordable in comparison to other restaurants (flavor wise they are winning here too). Compliments to the chefs everything was seasoned, properly cooked, and presented well. There was Latin music in the background and the vibe was relaxed and warm. I will definitely be returning for date nights here. The reason I do not give it a 10/10 is because the greeting/host area was not clear for a new customer, the parking is hidden so you assume there's no where to park, and personally the texture of the guacamole was not visually appealing but tasted delicious as well as the lettuce was super cold. read more

We've been to Pepe's many times in person and ordered takeout. Parking on Chandler St. is a bit limited. There is parking in back of the building down a short, narrow alley but the small lot is often full. Food quality is great; fresh and tasty but not overly spicy. Service is consistently above average; food and drinks are served quickly and as ordered. Waitstaff is friendly, professional and attentive. Prices are a bit high in my opinion and the sides of guac, salsa and beans are tiny just like every other restaurant. read more

Solid place for tacos--we mainly go here for their fish and shrimp tacos. IMO, they have the best in town. Slaw with the tacos is very flavorful. For fish and shrimp, they give the option to have it grilled or fried. I've had their lengua tacos their before but skip it-- it's nothing special unfortunately. Wish it was more moist and flavorful. This location is on the west side of Worcester in Tatnuck Square. Parking is in back but it's not a huge lot. I'm only reluctant to give a 5 star only because there were a few times they made mistakes on my order. Also if you're looking to do takeout--online ordering directly from them is very finicky. We were told about this place by friends of ours and decided to try it out. The parking is a bit weird, but other than that it was cute. The waitress came over quickly for our drink order and the margaritas were phenomenal! I had the lychee margarita and my husband got the pineapple/chili margarita and both were great! We ordered the Pollo Mole (husband) and the Pollo Arcedo and both were huge portions and very tasty! The interior of this restaurant is decorated with wonderful art, both paintings and frescoes and it gave off a very welcoming vibe. The place was pretty busy as well. This review is solely on the nachos which is what we used to go for... they used to be big, drenched in queso and full of toppings, it used to be cheaper and bigger now it's $14 and it's small, lame and dry, and whatever seasoning theyre using on their chicken now is not working... make it more expensive if you must to survive, but don't change the quality... that's how you lose regulars. So glad we had tacos & burritos there last night. Only complaint was their complimentary salsa was very watery. The guac is slammin' and their Pineapple Chili Margarita is fire! Not too spicy, just perfect. Everything else was perfectly delicious (in my family's opinion). I ordered 4 types of tacos - the Veggie, Pollo Guisado, Barbacoa Beef & Carne Asada. 2 and a half was filling. Our son had the Adobada (Pork) and Barbacoa Beef. For dessert, we ordered Churros with chocolate dip. My son loved them. I'm on a sugar fast so I haven't tried them yet. Will definitely return soon and highly recommend. Best taco place we've been to in Worcester, hands down! There's only 2 we haven't tried yet. Our lovely waitress was very attentive with perfect service. She checked on us 6 times and she has a great personality. The ambiance was good. My only complaint is the the framed true crime poster facing me on the wall at our table featuring a news article of a murdered Mexican man (not sure who he was) but photos show him murdered on a bed. There's nothing I can leave in this review that will do Pepe's the justice it deserves. This is my favorite restaurant of all time. Everything on the menu is an absolute banger, especially the choriqueso, the nacho fries, and the fajita quesadilla (with chicken!). The portion sizes are also insanely large, so you may just get 2 meals out of your trip. The price is always right, too. The friendly staff can be a bit slow sometimes, but with tons of takeout orders and a perpetually busy dining room, it's more than understandable. read more

I ordered the Queso Dip and California Burrito and everything was great. The California Burrito was huge (honestly too big) and had a perfect ratio of fries to the steak and cheese (and guac). I didn't need any salsa or hot sauce added to the Burrito, but I could understand if some could find it a little dry, especially with the huge tortilla. But I found it saucy enough and the flavor of the beef was top-notch. The queso was very good, too, as was the free salsa (with some shredded carrots, chunks of tomato and onion). I had heard about Pepe's Taqueria, so, when my daughter came to town we decided to try it. We were very pleasantly surprised! We love a restaurant that starts you off with complimentary food. The salsa and chips were wonderful. The chips were so crisp and flavorful. The salsa was very tasty. My daughter ordered the Chicken Mole and I ordered the Chicken Fajita. Both entrees were wonderful. I would say these dishes were huge, lots of meat, guacamole on lettuce, rice, beans and pita. We will return! read more

I've been doing my fair share of bitching about Mexican food in the area and the good thing about bitching is that, as it turns out, people want to help change your mind. This place was recommended by a good samaritan hoping to steer my Central Mass Mexican Food plight in the right direction. The menu has your typical Mexican food eats. According to seamless, the stuff they do well includes guac, queso, nachos, cheese quesadilla, grande burrito, and carne asada taco. They also have FRY NACHOS which I find particularly intriguing. We were debating between the classic guac and queso app combo or the nachos but if you know me you know we were kidding ourselves. We ordered the nachos AND the queso. I also ordered a burrito bowl for myself and Tinasaurus ordered two tacos: chorizo and chicarron. One of the problems that I have with this place is that for almost every order, they allow you to choose a meat but don't give the option for no meat or have a vegetarian alternative. It's 2020 people. You could, I suppose, write "NO MEAT" in the comments but that's dicey. What if it comes covered in chorizo? Then it's a waste of money and valuable time that could have been spent ordering something that you can actually eat. My heart rate is increasing with anxiety at merely the thought. Fortunately I have a meat vacuum as a girlfriend so we requested meat on the side and everything worked out. The queso is good, I'd recommend throwing an order of this shit into your cart bc why not? Give me a good reason. Lactose intolerance is a good reason. The nachos were some of the best I've had in Worcester. The chips were just ok, nothing home made as far as I could tell but they did their job. They use queso as the cheese here which I actually appreciate because it allows for very good cheese-chip penetration. They also included LETTUCE, sour cream, a HUGE HUNK of guac, and refried beans which were inadequate in quantity. The pico was on the side for me (I hate onions but tolerate it in guac bc I'm basic). They also include some salsas which were pretty tasty. Not excellent. Not superb. I've had better nachos but very very satisfactory especially with the Mexican in the area. The burrito bowl was essentially the same shit as the nachos but instead of on chips, on rice and without queso and guac. A thick layer of spanish rice, some refriend beans, lettuce, and sour creme. Not bad. Didn't knock my socks off. Looking forward to finishing the leftovers when I get home from work. Let me start off by saying the portions here are HUGE. You really get your money's worth. I ordered to-go here with my brother for the first time and I am not disappointed! Between the two of us, we got nachos with steak, the shrimp taco plate, and chicken fajitas. I think the nachos alone would've filled us up. If you're planning on ordering take out with friends, this would be the best bang for your buck. The food tastes fresh and everything is well-seasoned. When I came to the restaurant, I noticed how they were handling COVID precautions. Outdoor seating was available and indoor seating had tables spread far apart in the back. The bar is closed but they offer margaritas to go! They also had signs to designate where pick-up is. All the employees wore masks and were very friendly. Came with 3 smaller enchiladas, light on chicken that was a bit dry and not that flavorful. The takeout included a giant pile of rice, that was pretty good, and a small amount of lukewarm pinto bean soup. I think it was supposed to be refried beans? The guacamole was tasty but had way more salsa than avocado. The chips were fresh and crisp. The bill felt high for what seemed mostly rice. On a Sunday night, we ventured over to El Patron just to find out that it was closed. Rats! But Yelp, led us to Pepe's Taqueria instead. A bit further than El Patron, but Pepe's seemed to be newer and a sister restaurant of El Patron. Now let me start by saying I'm a bit of a Mexican food snob. After spending years of college in San Diego - I just can't help it, alright. I'm a snob for good Mexican food and I won't deny it. And you know what? As far as the East coast goes, Pepe's DELIVERS! I'd even say they are THE best Mexican restaurant that I've had in the entire Northeast. I will say once you step in, you get some chips and their house salsa? The house salsa sucks, it tastes like canned tomatoes blended together. So don't go for that - ask for the hot salsa options. Those were all fantastic. The salsa verde - awesome. Hot chili oil? Probably burned my taste buds off, but worth it. And the salsa roja, awesome as well. I've usually come and had their tacos (the chicharron is my fav.) but I've also had their California burrito.
