It's been years since we left a review but last week's dinner deserved another. We had the chicken burrito and crispy shrimp tacos. Very plentiful entrees and their appropriate sides. We'll be back for dinner again soon ... maybe taco Tuesday as the tacos were awesome.

We chose to sit in the bar area which was a good move. The dining area was a bit noisy as we heard the conversation coming from the other area. The bar area is quiet and lighting is dimmer so a bit more relaxing. Chris the bartender had a nice laid back demeanor and provided many refills of our drinks. I had the Fried Chicken Tacos which were delicious! My boyfriend had the Curry Vegetable Tacos. Not too overpowering in flavor and nice change from standard tacos. It is a bit expensive for tacos but was a nice evening out nonetheless.

Why does this place have three stars??? The food here is delicious! I got the steak fajitas. And the reason why I am not leaving a five star review, is because I felt like they were stingy with the steak. I had enough to make three VERY slender tacos. Just a tad bit more would have made it perfect. But again, the flavor was great. The salsa was delicious. I really liked their take on black beans. Everything was just super flavorful! Had a mock-a-rita and that was great! My server Sydney and the rest of the staff were so kind to me too! The vibe of this place is great. I was here on a Thursday night. It was very chill. As a California Mexican, I say, bravo. If I'm ever in this area I am coming back.

3 out of 5 stars I stopped by MEX in Bloomfield Hills on a Monday night to take advantage of their all-day happy hour margaritas. My first margarita was fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced. But when I ordered a second one, it tasted completely different. I asked about it and was told their margaritas are on draft and they had just switched over. Unfortunately, that means consistency isn't guaranteed, which was a letdown considering how great the first one was. I ordered a trio of tacos--shrimp, beef, and chicken--and honestly, they were underwhelming. They weren't hot, more like room temperature, and gave me the impression they'd been sitting for a bit. Maybe they weren't, but that's how they came across. On the upside, our server was excellent--friendly, attentive, and doing his best--but there's only so much he can do if the kitchen and bar aren't on point. The space is beautiful and unique (it used to be a Big Boy, which is wild), so I'm willing to give it another shot on a different night. Hopefully next time the food and drinks match the vibe.

I like the remodeling of this place so much more than what it used to be to look like. The staff are always friendly and smiling. We got the queso and salsa duo. The guacamole appetizers to start the quest was had great flavor the salsa and the chips were very salty but other than that tasted great. I had the shrimp fajitas which were disappointing it only had onions and shrimp and were not very hot. Usually there are at least 3 shrimps per tortilla. I only had 7 pieces of shrimp I was only able make 2 of 3 tortillas. The burrito was huge tasted good but was a bit spicy according to my daughter. My Paloma was one of the best I have tasted. It tasted like fresh pink grapefruit.

Mex was an okay restaurant. We ordered the Birria tacos, shrimp tacos, the americano, elote, and a margarita. Starting off with the Birria Tacos, they were very cumin and cinnamon heavy. That flavor was very overpowering and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that doesn't like those flavors. Other than that the Birria tacos were flavorful and good. My mom tasted the rice and beans and she said that they were mediocre. She also said that the classic margarita was sour and could've used more agave. It tasted like a skinny margarita. She also said that the Americano taco was good and flavorful and the shrimp tacos were a bit fishy. 3/5 for mex, if i could 2.5. Only go if you're in the area, wouldn't go out of my way.

Went here for lunch today and it was great. We sat outside and I liked the covered patio. While I am a little sad they no longer have brunch the lunch was great. We both ordered the Pretty in Pink cocktail and it was delicious. We started off with queso, it was good. It's not on the actual menu but they do have it. My friend ordered the duck tacos and she really liked jt. I got the chicken fajitas and it was delicious. The chicken had a very good flavor. I loved it. We ended with the Mex Brownie sundae that was also very good. We will definitely be back

This was my first visit since the remodel and my goodness it was amazing! The food here is honestly 10x better than it ever was and it's so pretty inside. Diana waited on us and she took great attention to detail. We had the salsa trio, loaded guacamole and drinks to start and I split the birria quesadillas and shrimp tacos with someone and both were great. I just wish they had a dinner portion of the quesadillas so it would come with the side of rice and beans and be an overall larger portion but absolutely be back!

Made reservations for a Friday night. Party of two & I didn't have to wait for my friend to get there before being seated. It's a real modern adult vibe. Kind of louder than I expected. They have a smaller menu with a decent variety of items. We started with the chips and salsa. You can choose between 2 or 3 different salsas (and I'm a variety kinda girl so I liked that). We also had the shrimp appetizer. It was delicious!! Perfectly cooked! That made me order the shrimp tacos! They were even better! The cilantro lime rice was good! The refried beans were ok. I was expecting them to be a little more flavorful. Drinks were good as well. 2 drinks, 1 appetizer & one entree was about $60+

The parking situation is a little weird, the lot is basically to the left of the restaurant, and if you try to park in the plaza to the right of it, there are signs up saying they will tow you. My friend and I started out with the baked feta, which was delicious. I don't really like olives so I asked for those on the side. It came with tomatoes on top and naan bread for dipping. For our entrees, I got the chicken limone - chicken piccata is one of my favorite dishes and this is very similar. It's $29 which I thought was a bit expensive but you do get a gigantic portion, I brought half of it home. My friend got what she thought was a salad but it was more of like a Mediterranean small chicken dish, and she got a side of the beef tallow fries, which we both thought were expensive at $7, but it was very tasty and she said it was worth it. Everything on the dessert menu looked great but we ended up splitting the campfire funnel fries, and it came out in the shape of a campfire! Very nice presentation. Waitservice was a bit slow, we had a separate person coming to refill our water and overall that was consistent until the end though. That being said, the food and the atmosphere was great so I would return another time.

The music was actually so loud it was hard to catch up with my friend. I wasn't aware of how cozy the spot was. We weren't allowed to sit next to each other (understandably so, the seats are designed for two/four people to sit across from each other like normal) so that made it easiest to just quiet up and listen to the music. I have no problem with that, the singer was great! The waitress was kind for even checking with the manager to see if we could adjust the seating arrangement. I had to ask lol I had the fried salmon bites, very salty but good flavor. Oh, and one of the two bathroom stalls wouldn't close but luckily girl code helped us stay secure! This spot is a hidden gem especially for those who appreciate a very intimate live music performance, when they have it. I'd like to try more of the food.

But Zana is easily one of the better fine dining experiences I've had in the state of Michigan. It also helped that I had dinner with some close friends who I haven't had many opportunities to spend time with in recent memory. The restaurant is located in downtown Birmingham, so by default it has to deliver on every front. It has such a beautiful and spacious dining area that makes you feel like you're at a VIP party. The menu is not lacking in options, with pretty much all the types of items you would expect from an upscale establishment. The oysters were so fresh, the harissa shrimp was outstanding, and my lamb chops were cooked to absolute perfection. We shared a lot of items, so we got a good idea of what this place offered and I don't think anyone in our party were disappointed. We ended up splitting the bill evenly between all of us and were surprised that we didn't spend more money. Zana really left a good lasting impression on us, so I hope that we will be just as satisfied when we make a return.

The burger was excellent I would recommend to anyone 8.7/10. The Mac was delicious as well 7.5/10. We did bread service as well for my Son, it came with a pesto butter light and fluffy ($9) seemed a bit excessive to charge that much for bread. Decor was very interesting, they had trees growing out of their center booths I loved it! 4/5 fells very fair taking into account food quality, value, decor and service. Disappointing on every front…read more I ordered the steak frites, as did two others at my table. All three were requested medium. What arrived told a different story: the doneness varied significantly across the plates, suggesting a kitchen with inconsistent execution and little quality control before food leaves the pass. Beyond the temperature issues, the steaks were under-seasoned and presented with little care... not what you expect at this price point or for this type of occasion. The service compounded the frustration. Our group was large, and it was clear the staff were not adequately prepared or staffed to handle that. Mistakes accumulated throughout the evening... mis placed orders, missed requests, a general lack of coordination had our plates dancing all night. What was most disheartening was the manager's response or lack thereof. When the issues were raised, there was no meaningful acknowledgment, no accountability, and no effort to make things right. For a restaurant that presumably caters to celebratory dining, that kind of dismissal leaves a lasting impression. **Bottom line:** If you're planning a special occasion, I'd strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. Vive Bloomfield did not rise to the moment, and a night that deserved better was diminished by an experience that fell short at nearly every level.

I got the "burnt orange espresso tonic" and a "rosemary biscuit". Both were amazing. The biscuit was warm and buttery and the included jam (which appeared house made) was the perfect compliment. The flavors were all distinct but complimentary and made this into a spectacular treat. The espresso tonic is the best I've had. The flavor was fresh, light and fruity, with the bitterness of the coffee keeping it grounded and sophisticated. I even ate the orange slice at the end. The wait for my drink was probably about 7-10 minutes but knowing that in the future, I'm willing to plan around if the product is going to be this good. I want to come back and try the food but I will make it a point to return the next time I'm on this side of town.

When you need something, it does cause some issue. I sat outside for the first really warm weekend. The table could have used an umbrella. The espresso martini is good. Ordered a Greek salad plus chicken. Just okay for $19. Dressing was good but not standout. For my first time, we ordered a large Mom's House pizza. There is always a concern with tomato on a pizza. With the tomato, cheese, and amount of toppings, the pizza was soggy. Not sure if this is a common issue, or if the crust was undercooked or maybe too much cheese. I deleted the photo. We didn't mention it to the server. Probably should have. Did not want to be that guy though. Took the L. My two patrons ate one slice. I ate two. Threw the rest of the soggy pizza away. I thought it tasted solid, but the sogginess ruined it. The soggy pizza was served without a slice spatula/server - which made the pizza hard to grab. We didn't bother to ask if one was available. I will try another pizza for a second chance. My other patrons would be hard pressed to come back. The soggy pizza ruined their first time opinion. Lastly, the pizza and salad bowl are served on beige, recyclable plates and bowl. While I understand the convenience, it comes across as tacky and limits the ambience. Old pics show the Greek salad presented in a nicer bowl.
