My girls and I came here for our Sunday brunch get together. Of course we had reservations (which is highly recommended because this place was packed). Our waitress Dona was phenomenal. If she wasn't at work I would've invited her to join our brunch. The drinks were PERFECT! And went along great with the chips and salsa. And good thing they were good together because the food took a while to come out... I would say at least 35 minutes. I ordered the churro French toast with strawberries and a side of bacon; it was more food than I expected BUT it tasted so good! We all enjoyed our time to catch up over yummy foods. I will say the bill was much higher than I expected, but at least everything was good and I had enough to take back home.
Why did we pick this spot...I think it's important to recognize that social media plays a huge role on places people visit. We saw this place and it looked like it was a fun atmosphere and the food looked great. I can say that the food was delicious: birria tacos, and tacos alambre We did not opt to get rice and beans for an additional $4. We did get queso and chips. The waitress accidentally brought salsa and we were glad she did because the chip to queso ratio was way off (more chips than needed or not enough queso) $11 dollars for the tiny cup of queso doesn't even make sense for the price. The takeaway for us was the service. We were greeted nicely at the hostess stand, but the rest of the service was not great. We waited a long while to get served and even then the staff wasn't friendly. We seemed like a bother rather than just a couple people wanting some simple food and drinks. I would have had another drink, but instead of asking if we wanted another margarita, they asked if we were ready for our check. The place wasn't busy, not even close. We waited close to 7 minutes for the bill to be picked up after they walked by several times not even looking at our table. The bill was brought back after running the charge and we were not even told thanks for coming in or have a good night...upon walking out staff were talking by the hostess stand but did not even stop conversation to speak to us on the way out. Overall good food and margaritas, but I will not be back based on unfriendly service and hospitality.
Ambiance is cool, colorful and fun. The decor is festive and funky. The patio area is huge with plenty of seating. The restaurant has good vibes and energy. A nice bar area and plenty of space for people inside. Service is good and the staff were friendly and helpful. Just watch your bill as I noticed an extra item that wasn't mine. It belong to another table and they quickly removed it and corrected my bill. Let's talk food...the shrimp quesadillas were yummy. The shrimp were well seasoned and the quesadillas were nice and cheesy, with pico and sour cream. The birria ramen with a taco was interesting. The birria taco wasn't bad. I enjoyed the cheese and taco shell. The ramen was cooked well. It fell a bit short on flavor for me. I really think I'm not a fan of birria. It's something about the shredded meat. The portion was generous. It was a unique experience and I enjoyed trying something new. The margaritas were great and full of flavor and tequila. I enjoyed these more than the food. Overall a good experience. It's a bit pricey, but it's in an area full of bars, restaurants and boutiques. A cute artsy and cool area. Parking can be challenging. I would definitely go back for cocktails.
My friends and I planned our monthly luncheon at mesa based on Instagram posts we saw about a new menu. When we arrived we noticed the new menu was not available. We started with the guac sampler and it was tasty. The chips were fresh and warm. Next we ordered the carne asada fries, 2 of my friends tasted them first and both spit it out. They said they tasted oily and the sauce had a weird flavor. (We sent those back.) A few of us ordered the lobster tacos. They were mostly a flavorless batter, with only a small amount of lobster. The ends of the lobster were nice and crispy but the middle was mushy. The rice and beans were very salty. We ordered a peach/mango margarita tower and that was good. We were concerned about the amount of ice used but it worked out. Our server was nice and checked on us while still allowing us space. Based on this experience I won't be back.
Such a fun vibe! Got food and drinks. The wet burrito was delicious and a great size. We got nachos for the table and that was really small, honestly not very shareable. The drinks were cute and my strawberry daiquiri had a light up ice cube which was very cool. Our waiter was nice and helpful in picking out what we wanted since it was our first time. I would go again and try out their tacos and more drinks!
This place has a really nice aesthetic and a cool vibe overall. I went on a Saturday afternoon with my mom and brother, and we were seated right away since it wasn't too busy. The service was good and the waiters were friendly, which I appreciated. They also do a fire show at 7 PM on Saturdays, which sounds fun, but you have to make reservations up to two weeks in advance if you want to see it. The food was just okay. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they didn't really stand out to me. I prefer more authentic Mexican food, and this place feels pretty modern, so it didn't quite hit for me. For the price, I've had way better food at more authentic spots for a lot less. The margaritas were the best part. They were honestly amazing and definitely something I would go back for. Overall, I'd give it 3 stars. I wouldn't go here if I'm really hungry or looking for a great meal, but it's a good place to hang out, grab drinks, and maybe catch the fire show. I'd come back for the drinks and the vibe, just not the food.
Drinks were good. Food was absolute trash. The carne Asad fries taste like i ate a scoop of crisco oil. Not sure what kind of cubed meat was on top. I ordered lobster tacos, they were dry but soggy at the same time. The staff was very nice and accommodating with orders we sent back. Drinks a plus but not sure I would come back.

Now onto the food, the guacamole and chips were fresh and very tasty. Unfortunately the guac and chips were the best part of the meal. The carne asade fries were not good at all. Fried crispy, a bit oily, lacking flavor and the steak was chewy and flavorless. I sent them back, I was hopeful they would be good because I love fries. The tacos were Mid as well. I got chicken, lobster and shrimp tacos. None were completely eaten. The black beans were salty and bland too. I would go back for a drink and guac but that's about it for me.
We placed a takeout order for a burrito and street taco meal from Mesa tonight... upon getting home and opening the order we find this. A half eaten taco and empty sauce container packaged with our food. When we called Mesa to let them know and how to potentially rectify the situation the girl on the phone told me that after talking to her manager "there was nothing they could do" since we placed the order through DoorDash. (Weird reason, but Ok) I told her flat out that it was f-ing disgusting finding someone else's food like this with our order(because it is,that's gross!!) and she replied "ok, well i was gonna say you can come in and we'll remake it for you." We said no, since at this point we were already home and didn't feel like going back out. Friday nights is the one night of the week my husband and i treat ourselves to dinner out, lately it's been take out since we have an almost four month old. Needless to say we were pretty annoyed by this, and also completely turned off from the way the establishment chose to handle this situation. We won't be eating at Mesa moving forward. Absolutely not, totally unacceptable answer to rectify the situation. Do not eat here.
Drink review only ** wanted to try the soft serve margaritas I've been seeing online and saw that mesa in royal oak has them. They are so yummy, i got a mango one with tajin and it was delightful. Got a small buzz from it so don't expect to get drunk. I would get like 3 of these if I were to come again
Vibes inside are always cool and we were happy to be seated right away. Got a frozen blood orange margarita and a frozen watermelon margarita. I'm not a big fan of alcohol and these were yummy. The dip trio was satisfying too. Street tacos never miss but the star of the show was the carne asada tacos alambre. The melted cheese made it taste so good
I did not have an enjoyable experience here. First let's start off with the service it was okay it wasn't bad it was slow. It took a while for us to be seen it took a while for us to receive our drinks, it took forever for us to place an order. Then we didn't have straws, we didn't have silverware. It was like playing the waiting game. I ordered the enchiladas which wasn't good at all it was also barely warm the sauce reminded me of a ravioli sauce. I ate most of it because I was hungry and I didn't want to wait another 45 minutes for a remake. Not mention you don't get a complementary chips and salsa like most authentic Mexican restaurants. My guest also agreed their food was just okay. We kind of all hoped for a better experience. The ambiance was cool I like picture on the wall. I almost forgot to mention the margarita Tower, I honestly think that was the only thing I enjoyed. I'm not sure if I will go back again after a not so good experience

All the proteins were seasoned incredibly well and cooked to perfection. The freshly made corn tortillas were the perfect shell for these fantastic tacos. The funky fresh marg flavors and incredibly nice service made for the ideal taco date night read more

4.5/5 Cute spot with a great vibe! The open outdoor patio is super charming, and the frozen soft-serve margaritas are so good (and adorable). Service was good, especially considering it stays pretty busy. The food was okay, nothing super memorable, and a bit on the pricey side, but still tasty. I'd definitely come back for the drinks alone. Perfect for a girls' night or date night! read more

Cool and vibrant ambiance while sitting on the patio. Fairly busy even at 9 on a Sunday evening which I liked. We got seated immediately. The service was quick. Ordered the Guacamole flight with nachos. While it was good I felt that all the three dips were just slightly different. Our Entree was Papa Loca Asada ( big potato) with chicken and that was quite yummy. The toppings were generously put and covered the potato all over and not just the top layer. My friend ordered whiskey and I was surprised to see additional $3 added per drink for just "on the rocks" . Not sure if it's a norm in few restaurants. read more

The ambiance is really cute, let's start there! It's Rochester though, so you expect nothing less I suppose, but the food itself was a tad underwhelming. Our waitress was THE BEST even though we were joined by the loudest party on the planet - she made sure we were heard and that she understood our orders before she left the table. One order was one of the 'freak-shakes' and it was HUGE! She devoured every sip. Definitely did not disappoint. Everything looks great, but almost all of the food had hints of spice that bordered on tongue burning and that's just not flavor, that's heat. It made enjoying some of the meal a bit more delicate than others. We did opt for some delicious crèma to help with the spice level and that helped out a lot, but overall, it's probably not a stop we'd make again simple for the prices and the lack of flavor. read more

My friend and I had dinner here tonight. We were not all that impressed right out the gate. The table tops are cracked and broken and it didn't seem all that clean. We ordered the margarita flight. The table directly next to us ordered the same thing, but their presentation was completely different. They had beautiful fall leaves and fresh cut apple and colorful straws and a flower. Our was simply our drinks. See picture attached. Little things like that might not matter to most, but to us, it's a HUGE deal. It's details like that, that would bring me back to an establishment. The sole purpose we were there was to try one of the ice cream desserts that are always advertised on Instagram. When we went to order, our waitress came back and said they were out of all ice cream. Seriously!?!? What a disappointment. All the waitress had to say was if we wanted another flight, maybe the manager would take half off. Ummmmm....like I was about to spend even more money on being disappointed. read more
Food is really good! We loved the birria tacos and burritos. Our server was extremely nice. It was one of our birthdays and he brought out churros with a sparkler at the end of our meal. Delicious! Always loved the murals on the walls and other decor. A lot of reviews mention the slow service but I thought it was average even with a packed restaurant. I took down a star because someone was bussing the table next to us totally spraying us with the cleaner while we were eating. This happened twice during our meal. Truly the worst dining experience my friends and I have EVER had. Reservation was 7:15, waiter didn't come to the table until 7:30. We all ordered the soft serve margaritas and got the chips and dips appetizer. The margaritas took 20 minutes to come out, and we do not believe there was any alcohol in them whatsoever. The resturant was beyond loud, all the tables around us had no regards for anyone and were so obnoxious. Our waiter spent an extremely long time talking with other tables around us. 8:15 and our waiter comes by to tell us the food will be out soon. 8:40 he comes with the food. Picks up one plate and drops the entire tray of food on our table. Hot oil spills on my arm. HE JUST LEAVES. Some other waitress comes and cleans it. 10 minutes later out waiter returns, lightly apologizes, and says he will get us more waters. Are u serious? Water? You're going to get us waters for your mistake and terrible service? He leaves again. 15 minutes go by and no waters. The food runner brings out our food. We ask him for silverware & waters, he tells us to ask our server. Ok asshole. At this point we are all beyond furious. I go to the hostess stand and ask to speak to the manager. I tell her we have been here over an hour with a reservation, terrible service, and he just dropped our tray of food / it got on me. She questions me and asks where im sitting. I point directly next to us at my friends, and tell her we do not want to pay for our food and we'll just go somewhere else. She says she will comp the meal and we can stay and eat if we want. We stay, at this point it's been almost 2 hours. 3 of our meals come out, not all 4. Had to grab the managers attention again to get the 4th meal remade. She also brought us water FINALLY. She was rude through interactions but did the right thing comping the meal for us and tending to us since our waiter was quite literally incompetent. Even if this didn't happen, the food was extremely dry, mid, and overpriced. DO NOT EVER DINE HERE. read more

Everytime we come here the food is on point and service is great! We decided to try the new soft serve margaritas and they are amazing and a must try! This place is always a good choice for Mexican food! It's also a good choice to eat outside on a nice day! read more
We were seated immediately. Server was nice but food and beverages were slow to arrive. That being said, it was pretty busy. Food was good, but not hot when it arrived. It didn't seem like anyone was in charge & keeping things running smoothly. White sangria was good. read more
