Was having an issue with my brake pedal and brought my Subaru here as I had received a discount service coupon in the mail. Was reluctant to go back for service here after a few years ago when the person at the front desk refused to believe the vehicle actually could have the problem I described. Gave the service department another chance and once again they disappointed me. Made me believe the problem with my car this time was all in my head and dismissed my concern saying it was standard operation of the vehicle which I knew not to be the case as the problem was new however not reproduceable if not from a cold start after a few days of disuse. After the problem was not addressed and I was sent on my way, I later took the car to a Midas dealer who actually examined the car and discovered it was a leak in the brake vacuum hose. What a nightmare. For the sterling reputation of Suburu, this dealership exemplifies the complete opposite. Our first experience was full of complete ignorance from the salesman, Pedro, who was googling answers to our question on his phone. We told him several times precisely what we were looking for, and he kept ignoring us, trying to get us to buy a new car. He took us for a test drive in an SUV with an empty tank, so we had to drive him to the gas station to fill it up. Our second time, another salesman named Emad stared us down from the moment we parked and then answered a call on his cellphone while talking to us, which lasted for the better part of 10 minutes. It's almost as if they're competing with the other dealerships in the region for who can perform the worst, most pathetic customer service possible. read more

I have had a two year running problem with my battery in my 2016 Outback. Each time I have it towed by AAA to them, their go-to is that it's my fault. In October, they gave me a new battery and today it's dead again. I drove just 4 days ago. But the supervisor said that it's his number one call since Covid hit, but I told him that I've had a problem for longer than Covid but he wasn't having any of that. The AAA mechanic said there is something draining the battery a year ago. I told them at Natick Subaru . but they keep saying it's me. Going to sell the car and getting a Toyota. I would give zero stars if possible. I received an URGENT SAFETY recall for a brake lamp switch recall at the end of May. I called Metrowest in Natick where I purchased my Impreza for an appointment to make this repair. They could not give me an appointment until January 2020!! However, I was asked if I needed an oil change. In that case I could get an appointment in 6 weeks. I called Clay Subaru in Norwood and talked to a very accommodating woman--Melissa--who asked when I would like to go in. I got an appointment for the next day. I have never taken my car to Norwood for service and yet they were able and willing to fit me in right away. I definitely shall not ever buy another car from Metrowest. I will use Clay Subaru in Norwood. read more

Skip this dealership unless you want to have a similar experience: At the time I first visited the dealership, the accountant messed up my finance. I was tentative to apply a finance if it's 0 APR, and I only filled out one application to Chase. Later on, the accountant applied 6 car loan companies and ruined my credit report. I bought the car in full cash anyway. One month later, the "powered" liftgate stop working. Then after 2 weeks, the two windows stopped working properly. At that time I have to go out of the town for a business trip, so I parked the car in the airport for only 8 days. When I come back, the battery was dead. I had to call the roadside assistance and wait. I drove to the dealership the next day. They took 3 hours to fix my liftgate which stopped working again when I tested it at the dealership. Then they told me, their site is closed now, I had to go home... and wait. So far I've been to the dealership 4 time and wasted 10 hours of my time and still not solved my issue. read more

Got great pricing on the car. I was even a bit of a PITA by switching pickup days requiring double work and expediting work for Jeff and John, but they made it all happen. Ok, want to start by saying I purchased my first car from this dealership. The car is in excellent condition and was fairly priced. I did my research. However, the lack of common sense and poor customer service was appalling. The salesperson we worked with played dumb sometimes and repeatedly, outright lied a few times. That I've come to accept because he is a car salesman. The finance guy, however, was horrible. He was rude and called having to redo our bank loan app a b*xxx. Not under his breath, blatantly and loud enough to hear from the showroom. Let it be said that he had to redo our bank app because my father made a mistake on the app (I needed him there to cosign). My father is a small business owner. He then was very rude, tapped his fingers really loudly while we read over the agreement. He was very aggressive. Straight up did not care that this was my first vehicle purchase. Oh I also should mention we had to wait 2 hours before coming face to face with him. We were told to show up early and we did. Needless to say setting appointments doesn't mean much over there. By the way, no apologies or explanations for why we had to wait 2 hours. Finance did not provide non warranty monthly payments until we requested. Then, he lied. When we signed the payment agreement, the amount was $10 less than he disclosed. Yes, not a lot but I was buying a car with a monthly payment less than $200. So $10 makes a big difference. Last thing, my bank has a daily withdrawal limit that is out of my control, so I had to bring a check. I brought a certified bank check. Finance said he could not accept it. However, after paying using a 3rd method I reread the payment agreement. certified bank check is listed as acceptable payment on the agreement. Lied to, again. Put short, never felt that I was the person of importance nor, was repeatedly lied to and treated as a 10k dollar investment was pocket change for a college student. I will never be returning to this dealership for purchase or maintenance. p.s. my parents are not paying for this car. I'm paying for it with my own hard-earned money. read more

They have big phony signs and voice mail announcements re. how they're open til' 9pm. Not so, said the car jockey with dreads when I drove by with my car overheating...over and over he verbally said "oh, you have to have an app't and there's nothing before next week". I would rate Valvoline across the street as way more trained and accommodating! The signs SHOULD read "we don't give a care if your car is on fire, drive by's frowned out the garage entry door". The suspect issue is they have no profit margin like loaner cars or walk ins like a Lexus or similar rate per hour place does...and I think they probably pick and choose who they might let in their gates based on who is buying cars and service (like the family member service rep/ owner's pals, etc). Their work in the past 2 years has brought them about 10 grand from our Forester having a factory oil burning engine replacment...and they couldn't care less about checking the integrity. In fact, about a year ago, they deliberately left our 'check engine' multi factor warning lights on and handed us the keys, and refused to reset it unless we paid them about $1600 on rear trailing arm/other work that we chose to not do with them-highway robbery on Rte 9--stay the heck away, imho. Only self-criticism is why I was stupid enough to think they'd actually learn and treat customers better. That is why Subarus are cheap cars...and if you think they're made of love, its the wrong four letter word/jingle here, folks! read more

So I called Metrowest and they gave me an appointment in 4 days! David Jackson who handled my service was great! I will definitely return there for future service! read more

I went with my brother to look at Subarus at this location, and not only did we not get a car there, we left completely offended. A bald man named Mark approached us. We sat down with him while my brother described what he was looking for. Here's where it gets completely offensive, and I haven't ruled out calling Subaru about this. He asked where we were from, and as soon as my brother said, "Newton," Mark rolled his eyes and said, "Let me guess. You're Jewish." Um, are you freaking kidding me? Because we come from Newton, we must be Jewish. Ok, we are, but seriously, is this a joke? What the eff does that have anything to do with buying a freaking car?! Rolling your eyes? What the hell is wrong with you??? I whispered to my brother that I wanted to hightail it out of there as fast as humanly possible, but he wanted to test drive a particular car in their inventory, so we did one. Mark explained that he had to pull out of the parking lot and he would pull over and let my brother do a test drive down the road. That's fine, no big deal. We get into a car, and Mark pulls out of the parking lot at 60 miles per hour. He was driving like a maniac. He cut off some other cars and weaved in and out of the lanes for a few blocks while I clutched the seat belt for dear life. He said that the reason there was a dog crate in the car was because the previous owner had been a pharmaceutical salesman, not a dog owner. I could see a ball of dog hair from where I was sitting. Thanks for being honest, a*hole. Needless to say, if you want to take your life in your own hands and deal with anti-Semitic jerks, than go buy a Subaru at this location. read more

Similar to most US consumers, I despise the cat-n-mouse car buying process. It's antiquated, often times a major hassle, and an obvious time suck. As visionary innovator and Tesla CEO/founder Elon Musk observed, "As anyone who has been through the conventional auto dealer purchase process knows, consumer protection is pretty much the furthest thing from the typical car dealer's mind." I'm with Elon - enable the automaker to make direct sales to consumers. The end. We all know that in aggregate auto dealerships generate their high margins not on selling cars but servicing cars (e.g. $90 oil change, $540 for a major service, etc.). In our initial stage of due diligence, the only time we stepped into a Subaru dealership was to test drive the new Subaru Forester 2.5i Limited. For hearty New Englanders, the Forester is simply a practical and affordable compact SUV. After digging up the Consumer Reports Bottom Line Price ($15), I called four local Subaru dealerships to better ascertain the most competitive price. Overall, MetroWest Subaru offered us the best price for the Forester, and therefore the gold medal goes to MetroWest Subaru, silver medal to Cityside Subaru Belmont, and bronze medal to Quirk Works Subaru Braintree. I should note dishonorable mention - North Reading Subaru didn't even come close to offering a competitive price, which was outright laughable. And eyeballing their statistically insignificant number of Yelp reviews, I suspect its employees and employee relatives that are responsible for the four and five star reviews. At MetroWest Subaru I was in touch with sales consultants Andy Goldman and Nick Berthiaume. Andy secured the price (and oddly I never saw or heard from him again), and Nick really did all the heavy lifting. Nick is hard working, knowledgeable, and goes the extra mile, so his brand of customer service warrants five stars. One star was docked for making us wait for an hour plus. We left our office in the city to make the 7 PM appointment to sign off on the paperwork and pay for the car. This should have been easy and hassle-free. Sign, pay, shake hands (and then clean my hands with Purell...yeah, I'm a freak like that. My friends call me the Korean Howard Hughes). Unfortunately this dealership seems to have one "financing manager" working at the time, and the aggravating part is patiently waiting and watching five sales consultants doing a whole lot of nothing at their desks (that's not 100% true - I did see one guy excitingly beat his old score on Candy Crush). Simple word of advice for management: cross train your employees, since having one "financing manager" creates a key man/flight risk, and more importantly, gets customers in and out on time. read more

Staff are courteous and friendly. However, poor management of the service loads. If they are low in resources then they should not accept anything but those who made reservation. If don't have resources for even those w reservation, simply call a few and ask if they can reschedule, just like any other service! When you get appointment 2 weeks in advance you expect that they reserve the time for you. I called in the morning 4 times to confirm my appointment verbally. After 1.5 hour when I asked for my car I found that they haven't even started working on it and they didn't even know or bother tell the customer. They have no loaner either. read more

Just called with the hopes of being able to purchase a car over the phone. A 2016 2.5i Limited, fully loaded in Carbide grey to be exact. The woman I spoke to over the phone was horrible, and the least educated salesperson I've had the pleasure of speaking to. As a manager in the sales industry, I would strongly suggest the manager at MetroWest reconsider who they hire or reconsider their training aspects. This woman clearly had no intentions to 1. Build a relationship with me, 2. Be educated in the product she's selling, 3. Help me in any way, 4. Have any form of peaked interest in providing a high caliber level of customer service and 5. Sell me a car. Customer service, and the salesperson is a huge factor for myself (and others I'm sure) when purchasing a car. Please be mindful of that in the future. Some car buyers want to come into the showroom and have the full blown, red carpet experience and others just want to call, find the car, buy the car and be done. Salespeople should be able to adapt to the level of service an individual is seeking without being quite frankly a rude (there are other words I'd use) person. read more

Really tired, old car buying experience. Appraise my car, the appraisal isn't to my liking, they say there's no more room, I walk out, dude meets me at my car and wow, low and behold, another $1,000 in my car is available! So we start with the numbers at that point, and they tell me they can fix the quarter panel that has a solid gash in it (big enough where it should have never made it to retail in current condition). Then woah, uh oh, turns out they caaaaan't fix that quarter panel anymore. Thanks but no thanks. Just an old and stale way of doing business. In an era where consumers can do 99.9% of their research online, you need to be a bit more transparent in the sales process. I won't be coming back here. read more

Like a true car dealership! Buyer beware, and have a good negotiator with you. I had worked out all the math for my 2015 Legacy Premium 2.5i. They get their profit and I get the car I want for the price I want on the terms I need. Win, win, right? Wrong. First, the dealer really seemed disinterested in me. I guess because I'm 26 I don't look like I have cash to spend. My presence at his desk appeared as more of an annoyance than anything else. He really failed to maintain a professional appearance. He was so interested in my business that he never even gave me a business card. Second, every picture on his desk was him sh*t faced at a party. Sweet bro, I see that you like to party. I guess that makes a connection between us, since you're like a regular guy or something. Now take that bowl cut of yours over to the managers office and go work on my deal. Third, it was so clear that he didn't want my business. Offering 500 on my trade was insulting, and he tried to play the old "theres a rust spot on it." I told him to find me a 15 year old car in New England that didnt have a rust spot on it and I'd buy my new car at sticker. I even cited two separate evals, both of which put the trade at 1500+. I asked for 1000, and he said it wasnt going to happen. Which, one of the two I cited was the one he used on his laptop. Of course he sat there like a loser and didnt really have an answer as to why his value was so low when we called him on it. All in all, the simple lack of professionalism and a complete lack of respect made me go from slightly overshooting my target price in order to leave wiggle room for negotiations to having my price and refusing to come off it, even if they had come into my "buy" numbers. Should never treat a customer based on assumptions you make about them. The only time I'd ever sign paperwork for a vehicle with them is if I'm taking them to the cleaners. The price was the price, the "manager" decides those, but they were about $1500 higher than they should have been. People are supposed to pay close to invoice, not an average of sticker and invoice. I really hope people weren't buying at that price! But like I said, the price isn't the kids fault... its just everything else that is. At the end of the day I went to Long Subaru in Webster, and not only did the guy I work with have a far more professional attitude, but the whole dealership did. And, I was able to get within a hundred dollars of my target, and in addition to my trade I put 8k down to boot. Whoops, I'm 26, I'm not supposed to have money!! read more

$95.00 to replace 3 light bulbs! Be very careful of their service costs, and seek out an independent if you can. I was certainly taken advantage of, because I didn't get a quote ahead of time and honestly feel ripped off. But really, almost a $100. to replace 3 non-headlight bulbs? If this is a reflection of other service costs- and I see no reason why it wouldn't, go elsewhere. Follow up 3/1- Metrowest Subaru's GM contacted me and rectified the situation. He was pleasant to speak with and showed a sincere interest in retaining my business. It was a refreshing interaction and I'll be giving them another chance. read more

ZERO stars!! Go here under no circumstances. I am extremely UNSATISFIED with the service provided by Metrowest Subaru. I love my Subaru, and have had great experiences with past Subaru dealerships in the past- this dealership disgraces the good name of Subi's everywhere. I am long winded so for the summary: - Reason for visit: Service related. - They are liars and rip you off - Did not test drive my car before giving it back to me - Returned my "fixed" car in unsafe conditions - Even after I returned it to them to "re-fix" it they returned it to me sounding terrible and it completely broke down due to their negligence 1 month later. - Overall I paid them $4,000, and now my once very nicely running car, is un-driveable I broke down after class and had my 96' Subaru Outbacker at the end of August due to a severe transmission leak, as it was the closest dealership, and I have had good experience at other Subaru Dealerships in the past. It took them several days to even look at my car. Diagnosis: punctured transmission. I was told it would cost $3,500 to replace my transmission, or I could use the car for a trade in. I shopped around for other cars, but was disappointed by the selection. So, I decided to replace the transmission. I was told the car should be fixed by the end of September, or worst case scenario, the first week of October. Since I am under 25 years old, I was not able to get a rental car, very inconvenient. They called me in early October and told me the car was ready, and I could come pick it up. As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot, the car was shaking, and making some very bad noises. Also, the speedometer was acting erratically. I took the first U-turn back to the Subaru Dealer and informed them something was wrong. I was told NO ONE had test driven it before they returned it to me, which seems absolutely ridiculous. Also, since they had not test driven it when I first brought it in, they said they had no idea what the car's baseline had been. Again, I had to be picked up from the dealership as I could not rent a car. They then took about another week to get back to me, and informed me that there were many things wrong with my car, including the driveshaft and back differential. Mike told me I was in a bad situation and should have never fixed my car. Great time to tell me. He said my only option was to spend another $3000 to get the additional damage fixed. He kept insuring me there was no way they could have possibly known these items were damaged without test driving the car. After talking to some mechanics- It turns out that the drive shaft and rear differential are all connected to the transmission- thus, when they replaced the transmission they clearly should have seen the damage. I finally picked up my car ~ 2 weeks later. It still sounded and drove terribly, including with steering problems. I sent an email saying basically all of this to the store manager and received a reply email from Michael Sheehy (service manager) and he asked how often I had the steering issues, I replied back almost all of the time, especially when accelerating or when its wet out. I Never got a response back - apparently allowing a rogue car is not a concern of his. They insisted it wad drive-able - despite my comments of feeling unsafe. 1 month later, my car made some HORRIBLE bumping / grinding noises as if something important was falling off of the bottom and dragging along the road. Of course, this had to happen on the highway. I pulled over and called AAA. I was towed to another service station, who quickly diagnosed my cars issues and stated that it appeared Metrowest did a "Half Job", and "completely ripped [me] off" I hope to NEVER go back to Metrowest Subraru, unless if is finally for some repayment for my time/ money/ frustration. read more

I am a friendly guy, and get along with everyone.. and I come to a car dealer in knowing what I want. I don't want to waste anyone's time. But at Natick, when I walk in with interest to buy a brand new car, and receive a severe attitude, as if I am a burden to the business. 2 stars and for a car dealership, thats like 7 stars for a regular establishment....lets look inside.... so two things happened here. 1) mer wanted a molded plastic bumper guard for her lesbowagon, so i got her one for xmas, im a nice dude. it wasnt that easy to locate the part name, but once i did i gave them a call and picked it up, 50 buckaroos for a piece of plastic that says impreza on it. nice. installation was another 50. i did it myself, not bad for 3 college degrees! when i picked it up, the parts guys gave me attitude and even one of the sales guys even decided to let me know that the part must have been on sale for me to get it that cheap (which it wasnt as cheap as some online part places) thanks DB, i needed that sass. plus one star for having what i looking for right in time for the holidays. 2) i though my jetta was shot (for a change) and decided i needed a nice reliable lesbowagon for myself..(would it still be one then)??? humm well anyway, i went in there with my info accrued online and spoke with a sales weasel, sam as a matter of fact. he decided to speak down to me and question my ability to pay and understand the concept of paying for a car. i let him know that i have already bought 2 cars for cash and that he could start to talk to me like someone who wasnt an idiot. needless to say i didnt land up buying from them nor returning his phone calls. well now you know the story(s) quick side note, is anyone ever surprised to read a yelp about a car dealer that isnt 1 or 2 stars followed up by "these guys ripped me off.." or the like? read more

I feel bad giving Metrowest Subaru one star because they don't deserve any... at all. Every time I got a coupon to Metrowest Subaru I cringed and this is why: I had a headlight problem and needed it fixed ASAP. My car was new, under warranty and the problem was in the wiring so I figured it'd be a no brainer. I called the closest dealership to me but they were booked up for a week, same with the other 2 and then I called Metrowest. They could get me in that day and within a couple of hours, perfect. That meant my mandatory daylight driving would finally be over... I grabbed he appointment and headed out there. It took me a only a few minutes to realize why this was the only Subaru dealership with appointments available right away... because nobody in their right mind would EVER choose to go here. Horrible service. Horrible people. Horrible ethics. Horrible everything. They refused to honor my warranty for no good reason, tried to charge me $300 to fix two wires (covered under the warranty they wouldn't honor), berated me and charged my credit card a 50.00 lift fee (which should've been covered under the warranty...) and on and on. Complete assholes. I left and immediately booked an appointment at Cityside Subaru. I didn't even mention the incident I had, just brought the car in, they fixed everything and returned my car with functioning headlights at no cost to me. Do not go to the Metrowest Subaru for anything. How is this place still in business? Make the trek to Cityside or Patrick. If Metrowest Subaru was the only dealership in the area - I would cease owning a Subaru. read more

Fine, do you have any of those? Went on a test drive of a new car( did not ask for a new car), liked it, and then of course the payment is not what I can afford. I met with Tony, my sales rep, on a Friday and had a pleasant enough experience solidifying a trade for a 2014 Crosstrek. I was told the car should be here Monday/ Tuesday with no trouble. Cool. Tuesday afternoon, I called Tony and asked for a status. He told me he'd call me back the next day. Wednesday and Thursday came and went with no communication. On Friday, a week later, I called Tony in the AM and he said he wasn't at the dealership and would call me back. An hour and a half later, I called the dealership directly and asked to speak to some form of sales manager and had a GREAT conversation with Jonathan. He helped get me the information on where my car was (apparently CT) and that it was not on the way yet - Metrowest Subaru was waiting for a trade car to be delivered before it could send it to CT to get the new `14 Crosstrek. Jonathan was the first one to share this information, and as much as I am very, very disappointed in the sales service and customer experience, Jonathan was understanding and informative. We all know the value of a simple phone call, and I'm not challenging Subaru about how cars get where. What's made this a very frustrating and negative customer experience is the lack of communication. The difference between 3-4 days to 10 days without a phone call or any sort of update is grueling to a customer. I provided this information to the manager, VJ, via the Subaru website and never got any type of response. Price was okay, and the finance manager was great, but , I wouldn't recommend Tony or the dealership to anybody. A complete lack of communication, leaving it up to the customer to find their car, is terrible service, and Tony's promise of trying to "make this a better experience" was nothing but words. Nothing was offered aside from a good deal on after-market parts. To think I would buy anything further from him is frankly rather insulting. Go somewhere else where they still care about you after you sign the dotted line. read more

While looking at a car today for our mother, my sister and I were immediately met with what I can only describe as sexism and ageism. We asked to test drive a BMW 5 series wagon, and were very delicately declined because "it would likely sell before your mom could look at it". Who is to say we wouldn't have purchased it on the spot? My sister is incredibly knowledgeable in cars, and if we had been able to drive it, and she thought it drove nicely, we could have purchased it this afternoon. We were given the go ahead to buy it prior to our visit as long as it drove well. Once we realized we weren't going to be taken seriously, we didn't bother to pursue a sale here. The salesman, Mark, seemed to make the snap judgement that because we are two girls in our mid 20's, we wouldn't have any means of knowing what to look for while driving the car, let alone the means to commit to purchasing the car. We were looking over the car closely (as it indicates if it had been maintained well) and Mark was quietly laughing while we did, as if he was diminishing our knowledge of what to look for while looking at a used car. He made it very clear he didn't think we would bring him any money, so we only left with his card. We are both very disappointed in being treated this way, and hope that in the future you take into consideration that you don't know who could bring you a sale. I'm going to go ahead and give Metrowest the benefit of the doubt and maybe my experience is just coincidental...with that said I usually like to clump service at the dealership because well my days off are precious to me. Anyway, I ended up getting a nail in my front right tire and the tire pressure alerted me of low pressure. Luckily, I could still add air and it wasn't an urgent service. About a week later I scheduled an appt for an oil change, tire rotation, and obviously to patch the front right tire which I hold a warranty. Said services were all completed, and paid for, blah blah blah. For months now, this annoying little sensor alerts me, mind you in that SAME front right tire, "that was patched and rotated." Waited 30 minutes in front of everyone at this dealership. Not one employee said hi to us. Finally my boyfriend asked one of the managers if we were going to be helped. The guy asked another employee & the employee said not if they want to test drive cars & walked away. How the heck do you buy a car & not test drive it? We waited another 15 minute. As we waited an older / Caucasian couple walked in & they were greeted right away & were told they would be helped right away. 2 minutes later an employee came by & asked them what they were looking for & sat with them. Thats when we got up & walked out. We had already picked out a car & knew they had it. I even brought my checkbook to write a deposit. We would much rather take our business to a location that has better customer service & treats their customers like actual people. read more

TERRIBLE autobody customer service. DO NOT go there - especially if you are a female. They will talk down to you and try to take advantage of you on the pricing. In my experience of speaking with all three of the male admins working the desk, I felt like I was being simultaneously robbed and hit on. The price was suddenly hundreds more than I was given originally, and because the guy I had originally spoken with was out the day I went to pick up my car, they simply said I must've heard him wrong and wouldn't budge on the exorbitant cost. When I waited in line to drop off my car, they couldn't find the keys of the women in front of me. I should've taken it as a sign, because when I arrived to pick up my car, they couldn't find mine either. They were looking around under random scrap papers on the desk...looking at each other in utter confusion...it was ridiculous. It's not like my husband and I were expecting a GOOD experience from a dealership to start with, but this one was particularly bad that I am taking the extra trouble to write a review. The financial advisers at this place are particularly unbelievable. They mark up their interest rate without any integrity and treat us like we were idiots. We were in the market for a new car. After lots of research and quoting with several dealerships, we drove in because their price over the phone and convenient location. The sales person would not honor the price we get over the phone at the beginning. After our repeated request to speak with the agent on the phone directly, he was finally able to locate the quote in their system. Despite being reluctant, he agreed on the quote but commented that their advertised 0% APR program cannot be combined with such a good price. First of all, let me say that the 0% APR program is offered through the manufacturer, not the dealership. Qualification decision should be made by the manufacturer's partner bank and the dealership simply should not decline a customer's right to be considered for it. However, we decided to see what other financing options they have. With an excellent credit history, we were expecting a low APR anyway. Our expectation is semi-confirmed by a financial manager (sales person was new and spurted we should probably get an APR at 2.99%, and received a dirty look from the financial adviser), who asked about our mortgage rate and commented that any APR below that mortgage rate is a good deal for us (huh?!). Because it was closing time that day, we decided to come in the next morning to work through the finances. Right before we leave, the finance adviser asked us to pay a 500 dollar deposit to hold the car. We asked him whether it would be refundable if the deal fell through, since no APR has been presented to us yet. He retorted "why would it fall through" without providing any sort of term and condition under which this deposit could be refunded. We told him we decided to take the chance if the car would be sold before the next morning. The next day a different financial adviser worked with us. After two hours waiting, he showed us a price 2K higher than the one we agreed upon the previous day and a ridiculous APR at 5.5%, and hinted that we should be ecstatic since this rate brings down the monthly payment estimation (which is given on the slip of paper, usually based on an APR around 6% that has nothing to do with individual customer's credit history) by a couple of dollars. We told him that this was not the out of door price we agreed upon and requested which banks he quoted with. He simply said he quoted with two banks that he had always partnered with, refused to reveal the name of the banks, asserted that we can only qualify for this rate with our credit history, and commented that we were not mentally prepared to buy a car! We decided to stop wasting our time and started walking out, until he stopped us and apologized that he suddenly saw the other lower quote and a note with an APR in the 3s. Guess what, this new APR at 3.79% was just below our mortgage interest rate, took NO TIME to quote with the bank (it was on a note passed to him in a binder). At this point, it was very obvious that these guys do not ACTUALLY quote with the banks, they just conjure up a number that's profitable and perhaps split the profit with the bank/credit union. Apparently this dealers' markup on the APR is a common practice and we might have been among the few who weren't aware of this. The guy even said "you can pay off the loan after making two payments, that way, it's essentially the same as 0% APR". Excuse me? Then what is the point of financing?! I can also pay in cash, but I want to put my cash elsewhere and this doesn't justify your attempt to rip me off. All in all, the experience at Metrowest was very frustrating. A customer understands the seller needs to make money. But I would rather the seller be upfront with their best offer and just go over the process with some honesty and integrity. read more

I wish I had looked up Metrowest Subaru before I bought my car from them. I purchased a used 2004 Subaru Imprezza Outback in 2008. When my mother went to pick up the car she discovered that the tank was almost on empty. She had to fill it up in order to get the car home. When we called and complained about it, we were told that the dealership "was not obligated to fill the tank." Less than a year later I had to spend over $1,000 of repair work to the car, which included a new timing belt. The car had less than 50,000 miles on it. I will never buy another car from them ever again and I certainly won't take my Subaru back to them for service. They overcharge for everything! read more

Their biggest weakness is managing expectations - or in our case, just articulating them would have been nice. Explaining things clearly or accurately seemed to overwhelm our sales guy. He couldn't even stay consistent with what other employees told us. Then, just trying to claim the car and drive it off the lot was a chore. There was a lot of scurrying around and back peddling as if we should have known the process when clearly he just didn't tell us. On visit #2 to try and wrap up loose ends, there was more scrambling, even though they knew we were coming. Aside from our salesman's spotty and vague communication, the most irritating part was the brusque and casual demeanor of many of the other employees. This is a major purchase and yet they didn't seem to understand basic customer service or even act like they appreciated your business. Instead, we were just one more task that they had to squeeze in on their busy to-do list. Yes, it's a holiday weekend and it's especially hectic, but when you drop the ball, I think a shift in attitude is appropriate. Given the overwhelmingly bad reviews of this dealership, it's clear that their focus is not on customer relations. They're busy because they have a popular product and they're relying on the strength of their brand. If you know what you want and simply want to make a transaction, MetroWest can work. If you're looking for seasoned, well-trained staff who want to guide you through the process and are invested in your happiness as a car owner, this is not the place for you. read more

I had a fine experience here. I just went in for an oil change, so it's not like anything major was done to my car. Most of the service workers were polite and the waiting room was pretty large and comfortable. I scheduled my oil change in advance, so I was very surprised when I was told it would take an hour and a half to get it done. I wasn't told this over the phone and oil changes simply don't take nearly that long. Fortunately, it only took them 45 minutes though and I was on my way. I was able to get some work done in the waiting room and it's awesome there's a 'quiet room' for people who just want to work. However, if anyone from this Subaru dealership reads this post, please fix the light over the work stations. All the other lights worked, but the one light that probably is most useful is out. Car dealers have a well-earned reputation similar to lawyers, chiropractors and snakes. Granted, there are some good ones too. That is certainly the case with Metrowest Subaru. I bought my Outback several years ago, but my salesman Marc Soloway has not forgotten about me. In addition to sending me handwritten birthday cards every year, he remembers my interests and asks about how my family is doing with an earnest interest. It does not surprise me that he is active in charities, and takes good care of his health. I highly recommend the car, the dealership, and especially Marc. He's the best in the business. If you are in the market for a Subaru, look no further than MetroWest Subaru in Natick. On a recent Saturday in early February, we set out to find my wife a new Outback. After doing our pricing homework, driving around to couple of other dealerships, and getting some run around at a dealer you hear advertise quite a bit on the radio (not MetroWest!) we finally got the deal we wanted in Natick...we should have stopped at MetroWest first and saved ourselves 6 hours of our Saturday. Jeff Ricard assisted us with the sale and was very helpful and is an all-around good guy, plus is a Pearl Jam fan as an added bonus. We were pushing for an aggressive price, and Jeff got the deal done on our behalf and with a smile the whole time. The car we purchased was in transit from the factory, and Jeff kept us posted on its status from the time we put down our deposit until its arrival at the dealer a few weeks later. We picked up the car on a busy Friday afternoon at the dealer. Jeff took about an hour with us going through the various features the car offers so we knew how everything worked. At that time, I am sure he could have been working with another new customer to get another deal done, but took his time walking us through the car thoroughly and patiently, including setting up our phones to pair with the car. I think that demonstrates that he is a stand-up guy and is committed to helping his customers after making the sale. Upon delivery, the new car was found to have a few minor scratches on the windshield. Rather than try to hide it or explain away the problem, MetroWest proactively ordered new OEM glass, scheduled replacement a couple of days later, and set us up with a free loaner for the day. The problem was quickly fixed with zero drama. In my car buying experiences, post-sale service is the true test of how solid the dealer is, not how accommodating they are while parting you from your money. Metrowest Subaru was the closest Subaru dealership to my house in Mass. so I really did not have much else of a choice. After seeing the previous reviews I was a little hesitant to going here, but since I only needed a specific part I thought I would be all set. The first time I went there I talked to the parts guy about a specific bolt I needed for my brake caliper. I thought I knew which one I specifically needed but the guy behind the counter begged to differ and even showed me the diagram. Thinking that this guy may know more than me, I agreed with him and bought the bolt he suggested. I got home and attempted to put the bolt in the socket. With my luck and what I figured would happen, the bolt was too big. After taking a look at the diagram and the brake assembly, I noticed the diagram was backwards than what the brake assembly looked like. Slightly aggravated and having to wait till the next day, I made sure I had knew the correct bolt. The second day I went back and told a different parts guy my whole story and what had happened. He seemed a little better than the previous guy because he easily realized what had happened and got me the correct bolt, which was slightly cheaper than the one I had previously purchased. Since I had paid cash, he told me they would have to send me a check for the difference. I said that fine, gave them my info, and left. Got back home and thanked god that the bolt fit. Overall I gave this place two stars mainly because of the mix up the first parts guy caused. The second person was much more knowledgeable and I wish I had talked to him the first time to save me the second trip. I still have not seen the check yet, but I am not too worried about it since it is only a difference of two dollars. read more

I just purchased a new Subaru from Metrowest. I started this process months back, and selected the dealer I wished to work with based on the customer service they provided to me over time (ie, respecting my contact preferences, accuracy of info, friendliness of interactions). Metrowest won hands down. Their business development manager, Diana, was really fabulous about giving me any info I requested yet not pressuring me or contacting me outside the bounds of necessary communication. (Unlike every single other dealer, whose emails I eventually had to mark as "spam" because they would not, even on direct request, stop coming.) Anyhow. It also worked out because I'm a Costco member, and this is the Mass. dealership with which they work for their Auto Program. Ultimately I'm very glad this coincided with my free choice in the matter, because I got an excellent price and the process was completely painless. For service on-site, I worked with Jeff. He was friendly, down to earth, and very knowledgeable. There aren't many 2013 Imprezas floating around at the moment, and I appreciated that they found another dealer--in Maine--with whom to trade so I could get the car I wanted, faster. I know they're out to make money and the faster they sell a car the faster they make it, but that's fine. They have to earn a living, too. Jeff spent a ton of time with me and my husband on our test-drive visit (a much more satisfactory and informative test drive than I had at Clay, in Norwood). He also (a) was willing to come in on his off days if that was the time that would work best for me to pick up the car, and then (b) agreed--he was sort of volunteered by another staff member--to just drive the car out to me at my office when the paperwork was done on it, to save me the trip. So, yeah. That's pretty cool. He also took charge of getting our old POS donated to charity, which saved us some hassle. The other staff member I just mentioned was Mary, the finance manager. So awesome. She did a bit of successful up-selling in terms of warranty and extras, but without pressure--just laying out her opinion and my options. She gave me an absolutely phenomenal rate, gave me some good and pertinent credit advice, and in general made me feel well taken care of. She made things quite clear and was patient with me when I wanted things explained a few times. I hope that they turn out to be a good service provider, long-term, but the customer service I have so far experienced has been stellar and I would recommend them to anyone. read more

"Best car buying experience so far." I purchased a new 2015 Subaru WRX from my sales guy Josh Geller in May 2015. This was a great car shopping experience at a very family business oriented type environment. Still organized and professional. Just to give you a perspective and background, between now and 2009, I have purchased and leased a total of 7 cars including my new Subaru, 3 Hondas, 2 VW and 1 Nissan vehicle. I walk in to MetroWest Subaru and I meet Josh. I tell him I really like the WRX and I am interested in leasing the vehicle. Josh right from the get go is friendly, laid back and no pressure type of guy. He showed me what cars he has on the lot and we realized the car I want was not at the dealership yet but was in transit. He gave me numbers on the car before I left the dealership that day on the car which was in transit to the dealer. He did not pressure to collect a deposit from me on a car that wasn't even there yet. Although given the supply and demand on the WRX type of vehicle with the trim and color of my choice and the fact that only one was coming in, it would have made sense to put a deposit on the car and guarantee it. I at the time did not know if I was going to or be able to purchase this car. There were variables in place such as purchase price, my current lease which had 4 payments on it and not knowing if leasing or purchasing was the right option for me. I did my homework and realized that Josh has provided me with a very competitive and aggressive (within the market) for the car I wanted. Josh and I kept in touch to see when the car would arrive and from the beginning he set timeline expectation pretty accurate. Once we new the car was in the country and he still was going to have only 1 car that was unique to my liking, we decided it was time to put a deposit on the car. From there on end, it was very easy to negotiate my financing decision and what I needed to with my trade. When you go in, feel free ask Josh.. It really all worked out perfect for my situation. Sales manager Jonathan Boske was too friendly and no pressure. Very matter of fact, here is my options lets figure out the best options that fit "me the consumer's needs" He truly only interacted to prove that we were heading in the right directions and the give guidance. Finally when I dealt with the finance manager Brian Hebert to sign off all the paperwork, he did not push any product on me either. He went over what was covered under manufacturers warranty. Because I was financing for an extended amount of time, he showed me two to three comprehensive (bumper to bumper) coverage options. The price was fair and given all the electronics and gadgets in the car, I wanted the piece of mind. (back up camera, all the fancy digital screen, sunroof, awd system, turbo, etc) After everything was complete, Josh introduced me to my new car and all the gadgets and unique things about the car that I was not familiar with. He walked me through the service department and introduced me to them and explained their process of oil changes, service and after hours drop off procedures.
