I went here on 11/13/10 to get an pedicure and Axxium Soak off gel laquer by OPI. The young lady (can't remember her name) who did my both for me was fabulous. I am so in love with my "2 week manicure" It's got to be the best $30 i spent to have my natural nails done. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to get a great manicure that lasts a while! Just don't have a lady named Alex do your Axxium gel manicure. She didn't do my hands right the second time I went in and I was not happy with her at all. Anyone else I will use in this salon. They also have the $8 regular manicure. You can't beat that and they use good quality nail paint (OPI and ESSIE, my favorite brands) Give this place a shot. I was in a desperate need of a mani/pedi and my go-to salon couldn't take me so I decided to try Metropolitan Nails. They have a $25 Mon-Wed special which is a great deal in Hoboken. I called in advance to make an appointment and was told to just walk in. Unfortunately I had to wait at least 30 minutes once I got to the salon for them to begin my pedicure. They have a small yet decent selection of polishes from Essie, OPI and China Glaze and they also have gel options available. Overall good experience and I would definitely return if I cant see my go-to salon just know that they don't have a lot of people working so if you are short on time you should try another salon. read more

Love this place - the owners are so nice and always make time for me even when i need to come in later. The manicures also always last a long time. Give this place a chance it's family run and a nice community vibe. If you want a specific color just ask they are very accommodating, I consistently get a clean quality mani and the points system is fun too. read more

This salon was the biggest disappointment and I would not recommend it to anyone. While getting my pedicure, I had to turn to the woman and ask if she was in a rush, as it was not only the most uncomfortable pedicure I've ever received, but the fastest, where the lady next to me had been sitting there before I walked in and she was done after I started my manicure. It was then great to see that the woman did not have customers after me, so she not only got a low tip (which I never do), but then lost a customer and gained a bad review. Metropolitan Nails had flies flying around throughout my whole service, which I skeeve, and they have a cheap atmosphere with uncomfortable chairs for manicures, and an unwelcoming presence. I live down the street, so an completely shocked to see they get business and how woman are sacrificing luxurious treatment for convenience. The only benefit I can see from this place is if anyone is in a complete rush -- then I recommend this place. I've lived in Hoboken for a couple of years and always go to Dream Nails on Observer, and if anyone has experience their service, then they would know where I am coming from in what horrible service this salon provides. Hoboken has an abundant amount of nail salon available, and if it weren't for convenience, I would have never gone to Metropolitan. I was looking for a reasonably priced nail salon in the Hoboken area where I could get my nails done regularly. I decided to give Metropolitan Nails a try and have been a reoccurring customer ever since. I have never left unhappy and my gel manicures always last at least 3-4 weeks before minimal chipping begins. They do great work, have decent prices and the staff is wonderful. read more

I have never given a negative review before but I called this place at 4:50pm and asked if they could take me at 5:15pm for a manicure pedicure. Since I was cutting it so close I didn't really expect them to say they had room but the man who answered the phone said no problem. When I arrived at 5:15pm I waited for ten minutes. Then they put me in a pedicure chair and ran the water for another 15. I finally asked nicely when he thought someone would be able to take me. He looked around and said, sorry we are busy tonight!! The worst part is someone walked in right as this was happening and he told her he could had availability. No mention of the 25 minute wait time! I walked right out. This place is VERY busy on a Saturday afternoon. I don't know how they do it, but manicure from here last two weeks. That's with washing dishes and everything. It could be because I always pick OPI polish. They're more expensive than salons outside of Hoboken, but I go for the long lasting mani/pedis. My nails grow out before the polish chips. read more

I had just gotten foot surgery and needed someone to be very careful during my pedicure. Wendy was great! My pedicure was nice and she made sure she covered my cuts was careful. I went in without an appointment and was able to be seen right away. I am always hesitant when picking out a nail color and they did not try to rush me like many other places do. The woman did a wonderful job removing all the nasty dead skin that had accumulated on my hands and feet. I got the $25 manicure pedicure special right before leaving on a trip to Mexico. Despite constant exposure to swimming pools, saltwater, sand, and all day adventures they still looked almost perfect at the end of my trip! When I showed my sister-in-law my nails a week and a half after getting them done she assumed they were gel because of how well they held up. A friend and I decided to go for a little pampering after Sunday brunch, and she took me here, since it is one of her favorite places. This nail salon appeared small, clean and adequate, with polite staff. I was a little disappointed that my pedicure finished before my friend's manicure, but it came out nicely. I decided to get a Shellac manicure here after reading the reviews on Yelp and I was NOT disappointed! The salon is small but don't let that deter you. They did a great job and it was only $30. I had gone to some other salons in Hoboken for the same Shellac mani and it was upwards of $40. Now that I know Metropolitan is there, I will definitely 100% be going back. This place is an absolute joke. Yes the manicures are cheap, but you get what you pay for. The place is DIRTY, OLD and just GROSS. On top of the mediocre manicure the owner is undeserving of any females money. I was in the middle of getting a manicure when he removed my technician to work on someone else who was annoyed that their manicure was taking so long. who does that? so then i had to sit and wait. I sat there for about 5 minutes before I got annoyed and just went up to pay whatever i owed for half a manicure and leave. He made me pay in full and then threw my tip money back actually at my face. He then started laughing after completely degrading me and said he doesn't need business. I am writing this as I am getting the BEST pedicure I have ever had! Patricia is wonderful; I have never been asked what nail shape I wanted for a pedicure before, and she has taken so much time and care with me (I'm a runner so there's work to do on me!) that it has totally made the cold winter blues go away! There is a mani/pedi/massage package for $35 that is valid ANY day of the week. I will be back for that one very soon! I've been coming to this salon for about 3 years and I've tried many in Hoboken and NYC. I lived in Miami before so I can't live without getting my nails done. I love Metro Nails. Each and every one of the girls works with love and attention to detail. Most nail salons these days rush you and your nails chip a few days after. This never happens to me at Metro. Second the mean waxing lady didn't have any wipes to wipe my face after, she was going to let me walk out of there with wax and tissue/cotton all over my face. I might have just had a bad lady, but my pedicure was very disappointing. The water was cold, the lady barely touched my feet (did not give a good, firm foot massage), she exfoliated so lightly that it didn't do anything (she was so distracted that she didn't even make it around my whole heel with the exfoliator...and she totally missed the ball of my foot), and she kept looking distractedly out the window the whole time. When I arrived, I filled the second-to-last last pedicure chair (the other were already all full), and my lady did such an abbreviated job that she finished minutes before the other girls were done. So it pains me to write this as I am frequent customer and thought they valued that given their membership reward. However, my experience this past week was both UNSAFE and UNSANITARY so I felt compelled to share. I went in to get a gel manicure which I typically get every two weeks at many places, mostly in Manhattan. Gave myself an hour which is plenty of time and alerted them upfront. First thing I noticed when starting my gel mani is that their machines did not have a built in timer for :30 :60 or :90 seconds like most salons have. This concerned me some because how do they know how long your hands should be in there? Other salons I've been to have them on timers so you aren't in there unnecessarily after all it is a tanning bed for your hands basically. Regardless, I figured they knew what they were doing so I went along. My lady kept disappearing while my hands were in the gel machine but I wasn't paying much attention at first. It wasn't until it was 55 minutes later and my manicure was still not completed and she left that I started looking around for her. I was on the final phase of my gel and my hands were BURNING in the machine, they were literally so hot I knew it was too long. I got up and asked he owner (a man I have seen countless times from being a customer or just walking by) where my tech was and he pointed and I looked over and she was servicing another person! What?! How many times have I been here and had to wait 20 minutes for my turn (numerous), yet this time when I walked in; it was empty and told them I needed to be done in an hour I have my tech doing someone else's manicure while my hands were literally burning! I said i needed to be finished and they should finish one customer before moving on, that is quite common for a nail salons bc it is not sanitary to be moving from person to person cutting cuticles and what not! I was most angry that I was left to sit in a heated machine with no time limit that was surely too long. When I went to check out I said to the owner that I've never experienced that during any of my visits here which have been plentiful. Instead of replying "sorry we got busy very quickly I was trying to accommodate" or "sorry your hands were red and on fire" he said that servicing multiple people at the same time by the same tech was "their policy and if I don't like it I don't come back" Well then, I won't be coming back because it's not sanitary, keeping customers hands in little tanning beds with no time limit is unsafe and you are just rude!
