Blue Science has continued to impress with their customer service and quality. Since my last postings-Rich has been emailing me to ensure they were meeting my expectations. This past Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, they did not come. Now, this has happened in the past on federal holidays, and I thought nothing of it, thinking maybe they would come Tuesday or just the next week. It's not summertime and most of the leaves have fallen by now, so I wasn't in a rush to have the pool serviced. I emptied the basket a few times this week and went about my business. Rich e-mailed me Thursday asking how the pool service was that week. Confused, I replied stating that no one came, and I verified this by checking the service card they leave-sure enough, they did not show up this week per the card's record. He replied kind of shocked, and said that weather permitting, somehow would be out to service my pool and fill out the card today. Now I've only lived in Houston for about 2 years, and today we had icy roads and very bad driving conditions (Houston normally has horrible drivers, but add ice into the equation and that's a horrible combination). Sure enough, one of his techs, Buddy, showed up in the afternoon and fully serviced my pool albeit being 34 degrees outside. This went completely beyond my expectations, though I would have completely understood if Rich had called me up and said that the conditions are abysmal and they will just service the pool another day. Buddy did a great job cleaning my pool and Blue Science has really stepped up in their service. Finally, I can say I'm happy to be their customer and hope this level of service continues. read more

I know a little about my pool since I've taken care of it before. I'm skeptical of pool companies and the level of training that they have with their techs, and I'm especially skeptical of a pool service company telling me I need to have something repaired because of my last experience that I had with a leading company who I won't mention here. We've had these guys clean and maintain our swimming pool for the better part of this season and it was all going smoothly. The pool water had looked good and it seemed our pool cleaner was attentive to brushing and vacuuming every week. I was very concerned when last month out of the blue I received a call from my pool cleaner telling me that my pump wasn't working right and I needed a service call for diagnosis. When I asked, he couldn't give me any clear indication of what was wrong - other than to say that our pump wasn't circulating water properly. As I said I've maintained my pool before myself - so I proceeded to ask him what position the valves were in, if the strainer baskets were empty on the pump and the skimmer, and if the filter pressure was high. My technician walked me through the settings and it seemed everything was in order but the pump still wasn't moving much water. I told him I needed to look at it myself when I got home from work. When I got home I found the pump was sucking in air as described and was barely moving water -- what a pain. I called their office and approved the service call for diagnosis so they could determine what was wrong. They said they needed to send a licensed repair technician to perform the diagnosis in case something was wrong with the motor and they needed to re-wire it. The repair technician showed up as scheduled and called me while reviewing the equipment. He found there was a problem with the pump seal and recommended some other parts as well. I pressed him for a quote on the cost of the work but he said he had to have the office contact me with the exact numbers. I told him I needed a call soon and held my breath. About an hour later I received a call from the repairs office and an email with the quote. Parts and labor for the seal and parts to rebuild the pump was about $250. I approved the work and asked if we could have it done right away. I was promised next day service and assured the repair tech would verify everything with the pool was ok when he was there. I couldn't afford to have the chemistry get out of whack since I had plans for the weekend. The next day the repair tech called me on his way to the pool and after the parts were installed. He then checked everything and went over the circulation, chemistry, and filter pressure with me on the phone. All was ok. Since performing the repairs last month that pump has run like new. This is the best experience I've had in 6 years with a company servicing our pool. They do a good job cleaning - and with the pump repair they were prompt, professional, technically capable, and able to handle everything over the phone without me having to leave work. I appreciate the way they do business and recommend them. read more

Used them for about six months. The first 2 weeks went well, then I had a collection of different service people every week where I couldn't even tell if the pool had been cleaned. I had to constantly stay on top of them, be there, walk around with them, call to complain, etc. What's the point of "Service" if I have to worry about it all the time. One time I pointed out to a service rep an area that was always dirty. "he just laughed and said no 'typical' cleaning person would ever think to clean that." Nice. To another service person, I had to constantly remind them to clean the overflow pool in the infinity edge - he never got it. Things leveled off "ok" for a while, then in June, they just stopped coming for 3 weeks. I called to complain and cancel without a peep. Poor quality, poor service, run away! read more

If I could give zero stars I would!!! Worst customer service ever! My salt water pool got algae 2 times in 3 months so bad we could not swim in it and they still charged me!! Techs don't show up for sometimes 2 weeks and they say every week. When I called to cancel service they were just like "okay" no apology no trying to keep my business! Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! My experience with Blue Science is the same as Jason N. This company have slackers for pool techs. The come by and mark off task on checklist but doesn't do anything. My pool turned green 2 times in 3 weeks. Their Techs always claims to have done all their tasks but when I called other pool company to test the water it showed no chlorine. Chlorine tablet never filled so of course theres no chlorine in the water. So untrustworthy, I rather pay more for dependable hardworkers than deal with these slacker/liars. Continued issues with service if they even showed up. If they showed, they were gone in less than 10 minutes. We had a green pool most of last summer. Even though our friends fired them after 2 weeks, we hung on. Finally let them go last week. Supervisor kept apologizing but only time our pool was clean was when we made him come out. Won't ever recommend these guys. read more

Had this company service my salt water pool for 3 months. They didn't show up to work for 3 weeks. Had to fight them to get credits for the weeks nobody showed up. They didn't leave a service card the first 2 months. I paid for the premium service, 75% of the time they did't clean the pool, only added chemicals. I fired them. I hired a local guy, and I have had to spend close to $600 fighting the effects of the neglect from Blue Science. They let algae grow, even though they have an "algae free" guarantee with the premium service, to the extent that I may have to drain my pool to scrub the algae build up if the expensive chemicals don't take care of it. They let calcium build up in my salt dispenser to where I may also have to buy a new one. This company is terrible. Run away from them. read more

I tried. First time 6 months ago was really good. next time, disaster ph . Came out 10 days later to follow up and 180 degrees the other way. Spa is unusable from so much chlorine. Burning. I was then informed they did not want my business unless I signed up weekly. So if they can't get it right in these two tries, why would I have them out weekly?? Still charged $79.00 twice for an unusable spa. read more

I started using Blue Science Pool service 4 months ago. We have a pool that is new and I wanted to make sure it was well maintained for the warranty. Our technician, Kyle asked me the first day to explain some of the readings on the equipment. This didn't give me much confidence in his ability so I spoke to his supervisor. He assured me that Kyle knew what he was doing, but may have just been "lazy". Long story short, I changed pool cleaners last week after Kyles visit and his failure to do all he was suppose to do. The new company tested the water today and the pool is totally out of balance and needs to be drained and refilled. I would never recommend this company and now I will be out a lot of money for having used them! read more

Blue Science did a horribly unprofessional job on our pool. We hired this company to do weekly care on the pool of our house, which we are renting out, so we didn't have to worry about it while out of the country. More than once tenants returned home to discover the company had not turned the valve properly so the pool was partially draining. The pool turned and stayed green for weeks despite our having been promised they would take care of it. Finally got a call from one of the techs apologizing for his unprofessional behavior. Company then said the pool was too full of debris, they would drain it "at no cost" to us, and sweep it out. Wanted us to sign a waiver that if any pool equipment was damaged during this process, we would not hold them responsible. Do not use this company!!!! read more

The worst and most unprofessional pool company in Houston. Their shotty work led to my entire yard getting flooded with pool water. Under warranty? Of course not. I just installed this booster pump 8 weeks ago but the install is not covered, only the pump itself. Thanks Blue Science. $1436.35 later and I have to fix my pump myself. They started out good last summer but since December have really got to the dogs. The say that they come weekly but its not true. Very hit and miss with the service. They seem to have trouble keeping the pool boys. I've had several new ones all newbies and by the time I get them trained to lock the gate on the way out a new one shows up. Lots of hidden charges they don't tell you about either. When I call to complain nothing gets done. Only lip service. I just fired them and am going with a local company. read more
