Well for starters we switched to get away from high dish costs, however our first month having this we got shut off had to wait a week to be restored. Then we move to Lafayette to be sent 2 bills a month we have been disconnected here after being said we wasn't going to have a bill so we then pay our bill next day still wasn't restored so we call to be told that we paid the wrong bill and that our old account was the one being paid so they finally got us restored and was told we wasn't going to have a bill this month so we then get a bill for 3.80 and along with yet another bill (even received an email stating we owed 3.80) to find out the email was not accurate. They took out our regular monthly payment and looks like we're stuck paying that until we find alternative service. I don't recommend anyone going with these incompetent people. read more

There response was, oh well you will still get charged. My daughters iPhone would not connect to there wifi either. They had no answer why. WORST customer service I've experienced with any company. I moved away from the area MONTHS ago, promptly canceled my service when I moved, and have somehow continued to get MULTIPLE bills for $9, $3, $250, etc. This is despite 8-9 times of calling and canceling the service and being GUARANTEED every single cancelation that it was completely cancelled and I would never hear from them again. Have had Metronet internet for nearly 2 years and it is great. Recently added Preferred TV. When I made the last change I also went to 500mbps internet, but the highest it tests out is around 400. Occasionally a glitch or two with TV, but nothing major has occurred. Comcast is terrible as is DirecTV. I had to upgrade to business class service with Comcast Internet to avoid days of downtime. Switched TV from Comcast to DirecTV, but reception continued to deteriorate on DirecTV. They insisted that they would need to charge a fee to come and repair THEIR equipment so I dropped them for Metronet. Great TV streaming with Metronet. They don't slow your service when you are streaming. read more

I couldn't leave lower than a 1. After 20 years with Comcast and multiple outages this year, we decided to make the switch. We were told an installation tech would be out this past Friday between 12 and 5. He showed up at 5:30, irritated that "we were not on his route at all and I've already worked 12 hours today". He stayed until 7:45, and left without saying a word. We had no idea he had left. In addition, he didn't test the service. We soon found out that the Internet didn't work at all. We spent the entire weekend on the phone with metronet who kept trying to let us know they saw no problems and that it was a problem with our stuff. That would have been fine, except they were dealing with the wrong people, as one of us is an IT director and the problem was not on our side. Upon inspection, he had used indoor fiber outside, he had run over 100 feet of fiber from the drop, and worst of all, he DRILLED a hole in our home siding...which we gave absolutely no permission for. I'm rather surprised that literal fire didn't shoot out of my ears because to say I'm angry is such an understatement. We went into the Lafayette office today to get resolution, walked promptly into a friend of ours who told us his service has been out for four days, and told them they need to be out there by 10 am or we would cut their lines and return their crap. There was a less than 0 chance I was going to wait around another 5 hours. They came back with " we can't promise we will be out by 10". Thus we could promise we would go and cut their fiber and return it, which is exactly what we did. They were also informed it the siding is not fixed they will be taken to small claims, so I hope they do recognize that that too will indeed happen. Don't sign with metronet. The install techs don't work for metronet, they are contractors. Just don't. I will suck up some shitty Comcast customer service and an outage a month to have overall service that functions verses shit that dosent even work. Absolute disaster, and I haven't even gotten service yet. Was told there was a problem with my address since it was recently hooked up and they couldn't schedule instalation for a week (fine), but they would call back if something could be done sooner. Called back and said they could schedule install for the next day (great!) No one showed up in the 5 hour window given. I called back, and was told no one should have to install, and I could pick up a self install kit at their store. I specifically asked when they closed, and was told 6pm. I got there at 5, and they were closing but let me in anyway. There was no kit available for me, and the representatives would not make me one. They few of us they did let in at close (1 hour before their emails and phone representatives had been telling people) were being shown out a side door to avoid the line of people at the front seeing us. Completely unacceptable. If they had not already charged me for the first month of service that I still don't have, I would be searching for another provider. read more

Horrible company. The worst customer service that I have ever received in the US. From day one Metronet has been a dishonest company. They never issued a refund for the installation fee after adding auto payment as they promised. Then they disconnected my service on 5/17 for NSF which is understandable. What is beyond belief is that they kept on charging me for a whole month after they provided any services and withdrew $167 from my account on June 13. And it's not like I have a contract with them. When I originally started service with Metronet in West Lafayette, IN, I did so because it was significantly less expensive than COMCAST. However, in the three years I have had Metronet, I am now paying about the same as I did for COMCAST for pretty much the same level of service and product. Now what? I think cutting the cord comes next as we are getting soaked for channels we never even watch. My guess is that most people watch only a few channels in their bundle, so we are all subsidizing channels that would never be in existence otherwise. read more

The number of Metronet customer service reps I've spoken to is in the dozens. And I've only used them for less than six months. When their internet works, it really works! But the moment it goes out, clear your schedule because it's not going to get fixed on its own and it'll take you all day. The pros: -Installation was pretty decent. The guy who installed was pretty quick, did a decent job, but lacked basic people skills. Pretty uncommunicative and never offered ANY information that I didn't directly ask for. But overall, they got it installed. Yay! -They have (albeit expensive) lighting fast internet. I really do get the 100mbps download and 25mbps upload speed that they advertise. I've checked, and it's consistent! Super fast streaming and video chatting. I ditched their low-grade router and upgraded to a Google On Hub for my two story home (definitely worth the extra $$). So fast internet. Excellent! The cons: Everything else. Seriously. Everything else. -The other reviews have it right. Metronet's customer service is the worst you'll ever find. Not that anyone has been rude to me - they just don't care. Your internet is out? Bummer. Let's put you on hold, give you the run around, and finally send you to a super nerdy techie who will keep you on the line while he articulates every diagnostic mumbo-jumbo test he's performing (and I'm decently techie, so if I can't make heads or tails of it...). For a case-in-point, the last time my internet went out, here's how it went: 8:25am - Hm, my internets not working right. (I go up and reset the router. Nothing). 8:32am - I'll call Metronet and see if the problem is on their end. (Call Metronet, rep says she can't see anything wrong with it. But she says, "I'm not very qualified to be able to tell, so I'll have a tech person call you back in just a minute. Wait right there.") 8:47 (15 minutes later) - Metronet tech calls me back: "Yeah I can see you have a ______ problem with the _________. It looks like someone was messing around with this. Let me see here." He then continues to say every suspicion he has about the problem and what he's doing to try to figure it out. And he's not using common phrases like "it looks like someone disconnected your internet. Let me figure that out for you." It's more like "Gee, I'm going to have to reboot the terminal and rebuild this from scratch using your ONT serial number." *click click type type click click* TWENTY minutes of my time later, "There we go. All done." He didn't once say "I'm so sorry you're having internet issues." In fact, he said, "Well thanks so much. This was really fun for me! Usually it's a pretty easy problem, but this one was a challenge. I'm a level two tech helping out the one's today because they're swamped. I don't normally get to help out with easy stuff, but this was fun!" ARE YOU SERIOUS????? It's been an hour of MY TIME in the morning (without internet that I'm paying a high price for) and all you can comment on was how fun this was for you?? SUPER unprofessional. And unfortunately, this isn't an isolated case. I've had about THREE of these calls with Metronet (all of them were issues on Metronet's end). There's never once an "I'm so sorry you're having issues." So this time, I actually asked to speak with a customer service rep who informed me that they couldn't do anything about crediting my account or helping me out in any way. Here was our conversation: Her: "We don't credit a customer for anything unless they've been without internet for over 24 hours." Me: "REALLY?? Because I've spent over an hour on the phone with customer service getting my internet back up this morning because of a problem on Metronet's end. And this is the second time this month. The last time is was for over 8 hours of internet being out. Is there anything Metronet can do to demonstrate they're wanting to keep my business?" Her: "I realize that sir, but unless it's over 24 hours, there's nothing we can do." Me: "Well, can we start a tab? An hour this time, eight hours last time, I'm guessing we'll reach 24 hours here soon." (I realize it doesn't work like that...I'm just trying to make a point) Her: "I'm afraid it doesn't work like that. There's no way for us to put a value on your time." Me: "Well, minimum wage in this country is $7.25 an hour. And I promise mine is at least worth that, so there's a good baseline." Her: "I'm sorry sir. Unless you're without internet for over 24 hours, there's nothing I can do." (Are you starting to get the theme?) Me: "So we're in a restaurant and I'm the manager. I've completely burned one of your dishes but won't do anything for you unless I ruin the whole meal. That doesn't sound like a very professional policy. I realize that you don't make the rules and you'll get in trouble if you don't keep the rules, but that's ridiculous." *(We exchange pleasantries, and that's the end)* BOTTOM LINE: Metronet (by everything that I can tell) doesn't care about keeping their customers. read more

Have had Metronet internet service for a few months and initially, everything was great but we recently started having download speed issues. Paying for 200mb download and just ran a speed test....1.92mb download!!! Have called four times and have yet to have someone call me back. Unfortunately ALL of the ISP companies are horrible. I have only been a customer for just over a week and already have had many many issues. The TV service is terrible. It constantly loses the signal. The DVR service is a total waste as I have yet to have a recording that when you try to play does not say "A streaming error as occurred and the recording is unavailable at this time"..........It should say this time and every time. The ultra fast internet with speeds you cannot believe, DON'T. I am paying for the fastest service that is supposed to be 250 MB/S and I was told it would actually be closer to 1000. I have tested it three times with an independent tester and it has not tested over 11 mb/s. It is usually under 10. I will be leaving the company soon as it is totally unreliable. read more

I used to work for metronet. I highly discourage people from working for them ever! I worked for them for 4 months. It is a HIGHLY stressful job. I worked in inventory - they run out of DVRs and etc to assign to techs. They issue out equipment to install in homes that are dusty, they hardly come in new boxes, and don't work 50% of the time. There are a lot of profanity laced discussions and they later make fun of customers homes they came from installing equipment. There is NO communication between employees, my supervisor is only concerned about covering his own behind. His name is dan Roth by the way. They never train anybody and write people up for inventory that isn't in the warehouse. Before they are hired to keep inventory correctly. They don't care about their employees at all. They are only concerned about getting their own paycheck and covering their own behinds. Very horrible company to work for. And exceptionally horrible service - I know first hand because I get to pick up all these dusty equipments from installer trucks they return to me. Most of the equipment ISNT new - it sits in the warehouse collecting inch thick dusts inside the equipment . I know since I had been ordered to hand these out to techs to install by my supervisor . Everything seemed pretty great at first. I love the internet, the tv, now we can get all our devices to work in our house without dead areas, etc but they didn't tell us we needed a static IP address from my husbands VPN to work. Grumpy husband because he can not work from home now until it is set up. They want me to set it up over the phone and re-do my router address. WHAT?? I am sorry but that should have been handled on the day of the setup and they should have asked us if we had a VPN and to check it before leaving. When I called they made up excuses and really didn't seem to care about me as a new customer. I am not sure how long we are going to use this service. When I signed up I got a certain package similar to what I had at Comcast but it turns out it is a limited promotion so my price will shoot up in a year. I thought I was buying a package that was a set price no one told me it was a limited time promotion. I am hoping once all the glitches get worked out and they work on their customer service it will be a good deal. read more

Pros: cable is clear, okay amount of channels for price, cheaper than Comcast, Internet speed better than Comcast Cons: Lafayette office customer service is not any better than Comcast. Which is one reason we wanted to change. If you call metronet and get a rep outside of Lafayette they have been helpful and answered what questions they could, best they could. They also found problems when lines were ran. However, in Lafayette office, specifically a rep named Arturo is a waste of your time. He can't answer questions, he makes excuses, or goes around the question. He is rude and unprofessional. If you need to call office, ask for anyone other than him. He also refused to give me his name last time or allow me to speak with a supervisor or anyone else. If you have dogs, they will chew through the lines metronet leaves laying all over your yard to bury for an undisclosed amount of time. Then they will say they are coming on this day and won't show up or call. When someone does come, they find it all was done wrong. And now it's 2 weeks later and still not complete. At install, my husband missed a whole day of work. 3 men were at our home for 8 hours ( but not done correctly?)!! Off to a really bad start with changing from Comcast (who sucks in every way) to Metronet. Their employees need more training and education. Each one gives a different answer to the same question. If you change, ask lots of questions up front. If you have dogs who chew on everything, you will have cables all over your yard for weeks without knowing when someone will fix them. read more

Where do I start? They've cut our fiber cable multiple times when hooking up neighbor houses. The last time they broke irrigation heads when burying the cable two weeks later. They drilled a hole into my garage without asking and didn't patch/seal it properly. They CUT my DirecTV wires when I signed up for MetroNet cable. We did not plan to cancel DirecTV and there was absolutely no reason to cut. We ended up cancelling the TV service because the STBs kept disconnecting. Finally, I was talked into some promo deal to get faster internet. Yet my internet is being throttled at the slower speed anyhow. They require you to connect to their servers for speed tests and I still don't get even half of the speed I pay for. read more

Came home today to my front and my back yards completely dug up and destroyed. There are people on my property whom we should have been notified would be coming. Metronet missed it hard on this one. Their third-party contractor also is responsible. Nobody on site right now has any idea of who is in charge. Not only is there lots of equipment on my property but there's empty water bottles and candy wrappers thrown across my yard as well. Called Metro net for them to tell me someone would call me back in 24 hours. Great that gives me just enough time to get an attorney which is what I'm doing as we speak. Poor business. We don't even have this service and now I'm glad because their communication skills are horrible.... should have knocked on my door and let me know as a homeowner that my property was going to be dug up. The company is setting up its cables in our neighborhood, promising an alternative to Comcast and other existing providers. The first contact with the company via its website is disappointing. It is full of sales pitches and does not provide much information about its options and pricing. I tried to place an order and at the check out, an $45 item called battery backup shows up unexpectedly and there does not seem to be a way to remove it. read more

My husband and I love this company. We've had Comcast, Dish and now Metronet. Comcast was always upping their price. When the sky was clear, we could watch Dish tv, otherwise I better have recordings! My husband could never remember how to use the remote for Dish. He now has total control since it is so easy to use the remote. My only complaint is that we use closed captioning. Sometimes, we want to shut it off. I have searched and cannot find anything to help me turn off the CC. Otherwise, no way are we getting rid of Metronet!! read more

These guys are, astonishingly, even worse than Comcast. They were recently the new-contract winner for Westminster Village in West Lafayette, bouncing out Comcast. They are dreadful, and a seriously bad choice. New issues that were never present with Comcast: (a) a remote that a midget could barely read or operate with buttons so tiny and in such illogical array, it's a pain to have to use it, (b) a THREE-BUTTON button-pushing sequence requirement every time we want to even turn on the TV, never mind find a different channel, (c) a remote that people with aging eyesight or mental faculties (i.e., the AARP crowd) have a very difficult time operating, as a result of (a) and (b) above, (d) noticeable and relatively frequent pixeling on various MAJOR channels, including CBS and PBS, (e) fewer channels and a diminished lineup -- for instance, only 1 Hallmark channel instead of the 2 provided in the basic Comcast lineup (this, despite the fact that Hallmark is the fastest-growing channel in the U.S. in the past two years) (oh, wait! They did that deliberately, so everyone would sign up for their extra-cost package, right?), etc. You get the picture (but not if you sign up for Metronet). Steer clear of these guys if you have any other choices, including Comcast! They make Comcast look like the A-level choice, and that's saying something! read more

We moved into a new home and Metronet came to install everything. 20 minutes into them fooling around, they said, oh oops, we can't do anything today for whatever reason, we will be back in a week. I asked them if they were 100% certain that they could do whatever they needed to do next week and they were positive they could. I patiently waited that one week, and even called the night before to double check everything was on schedule. They assured me everything was ready to go. The next day the service man arrives and the situation is exactly the same and they are not able to install the system. They didn't even tell their service person!! I'm furious that they left us hanging for a week without internet, and then left us in a lurch to find service. Not only that, but their own company didn't even know what they were doing, or when, or even communicate internally. Apologies mean nothing if you can't give me a solution. It was a terrible experience and I will definitely not be their customer, nor recommend them. DO NOT DO IT! read more

I have had MetroNet for three years. Had the TV service as well, but it with Internet it was costing me over $160 a month for the most basic of services. Had to save some money. Decided to cut the chord and go with just high speed internet and try YouTubeTV. It worked great, until I turned in the TV equipment. Now I'm paying just $64 dollars a month for supposedly the same level of high speed internet, but amazingly (I know you're shocked) I get the spinning wheel of death on everything I try to watch. You can't tell me they didn't do something to the service to keep me from being happy with cutting the chord. This company advertises how great their internet service is. It's as pathetic as everyone else's. Expected a heck of a lot more out of fiber to my home. And, oh yes, all this after having them out to my home four or five times in the last several months to try to fix it. What a joke! read more

Not many issues during my 1 1/2 years of having their service but 1 month after cancelling my service(due to moving out of the area) I received a notice from a collections agency! I ALWAYS paid all of my bills on time for the full amount. They also tried billing me for unreturned equipment even though I had my returned equipment receipt with the customer service rep's name on it. I 1st spoke with Arturo and he basically told me this was an issue I would have to deal with by going into the local office. He is by far the rudest customer service rep I have ever talked to. He has no clue how to speak with people or issue resolution. To the point where he told me "this is your problem not mine". I then talked to another rep who refused to let me talk to a supervisor but assured me she had taken care of everything and my account would be revoked from the collection agency. However, she did not. After receiving an additional bill from collections, I contacted Metronet again and FINALLY got someone to remove the unreturned equipment fee but she didn't finish her job by pulling it back from collections. 6 months after canceling my service I was exhausted with trying to get this issue resolved and bit the bullet by just paying the bill from the collection agency since they had removed the unreturned equipment fee.
