I've had service for about 2 years now. Only the internet. No TV. I use my own Asus router. Comcast was giving me a very bad connection with 300+ pings and disconnects. Metronet is more stable with a low ping in the 50s or less. The install guy did a decent job he ran a CAT5 cable along the siding up into the addict. Though we needed another guy to come back out and put new ends on the cable. Service goes down about 2-3 times a day. Service people on the phone say it's losing power. Might be the power supply or the box outside. Then the service tech comes out and says it's your router because it's not metro-net's router. So this won't be resolved. I can't go back to Comcast, because it was worse than this. But I wish it was better. read more

I've had a cable laying across my yard for 4-5 months. I don't even know why they ran a new cable, everything was working fine. They've requested that my utilities be marked 6 times now. I previously had my neighbors cable run diagonally across my yard direct to their house. It made mowing the biggest pain until i finally cut it. The local contractor they use to bury cables is awful. They have over doubled payment per each month!!!​​ Very poor service!!!! I had internet, cable and landline phone service!! At first, it was only $125 a month for all 3!! I finally cancelled the cable. It had gone up to $261 a month for all 3. I recently received an e-mail that it was going up another $20 a month!! It also had very poor reception!! Whole company is incompetent, literally wouldn't take five minutes to do adjust something with the cable, so they just told me an animal chewed through it and that i needed to call a crew to fix it. Metronet seems to higher almost all contractors and low-quality ones at that. The first person to come out a week ago to install the fiber wanted to run the fiber all around my house (a very large house) just so he could get the installation done, rather than have a bore crew go under the driveway. He said," the team that trenches get paid by the foot so they will be happy." I had an issue where my installation window was missed. Long story short- I called and was told they would reach out to reschedule etc. Rather than wait, I went to a MetroNet location to ask why the window was missed and was told my order was not completed on their end. (mistakes happen in life. The solution to fix the mistake is what matters) So, to my satisfaction, the issue was fixed and an installation person/persons will be out between 1-3 today. UPDATE: Install on 22 March didn't happen because utilities need to be marked as boring need to be done under driveway and sidewalk - (This is normal) 24 March - No signs of a crew being out to mark underground utilities. Previously cited elsewhere for poor construction and installation practices. For some reason they decide to put the connecting splice in the middle of my front yard when I have a vacant lot (park property) just a few yards away. They cut through my existing cable/internet service during a conference call while working from home during COVID-19. I called them and they said I would need to contact my local company for a repair. I told them I had a dog fence and irrigation put the workers did not understanding what I was saying due to language barrier. STAY AWAY Avoid this company at all costs. Installation took weeks and four separate visits. They didn't want to do it correctly because it would have involved calling diggers hotline to get the fiber to the right part of the house. I ended up routing it myself. Once inside the house, they couldn't get the fiber to where the TV was. They ended up providing wireless TV service, that I didn't want and charged me monthly for it. They wouldn't patch the hole that they punched in my wall where they failed to route the fiber to. Numerous calls failed to yield results. I finally got a hold of the service manager who told me they weren't going to fix it and I had to live with it. The introductory price ended and as expected the price increased. Fine. However, the bill continued to gradually rise. 3 months in, the price rose $10. Three months later, another rise. Eventually it ended up being MORE THAN DOUBLE the original cost with no end of price increases in sight. I went to the Lafayette office and I turned in my equipment. I was told while I was there that everything was cancelled, disconnected, returned,etc and that my balance was 0.98. I clarified this with the woman. I took out my statement and went over it with her. She maintained that all I owed was 0.98. I wrote a check for 0.98 and I thought I was done. WRONG. Now I've got another bill for $98.12! When I called to clarify this, the woman on the phone kept talking over me while I was asking questions about why I was told in the office that everything was paid. She just kept repeating that the invoice had to cycle to the next billing period before they could return the equipment, and they charged me for service in the meantime! They had my equipment! The call ended with the response along the lines of pay it or be referred to a collection agency. Metronet will do everything they can to take your money from you while providing the least amount of support and service they can get away with. I am absolutely floored by this company. I decided to give them a try and have been regretting the decision from the start. We are a business and for us every missed call is money down the drain. We had everything all hooked up and then realized that the voicemail was not working. Trying to figure out why was a very lengthy and painful process. We finally got it figured out and we were going fine for about a month when we were unable to get into the voicemail and listen to the messages. Again another very lengthy process where they ultimately shut off one of our phone lines. Neither time did they have any clue as to what was going on or how to fix it. We have 2 phone lines and 1 fax line and it seemed to confuse them both times we called in for help. The internet was never working properly as well. Finally I decided to go back to our previous carrier. I never turned off our service with Metronet because I wanted to wait until it was all switched over and working properly. Metronet took it upon themselves to shut off our service. I just had a customer contact us to say none of our phone lines were working. I cant even imagine how much business we have lost because of Metronet. They charged me over $2000 for a service that did not work. Strongly do NOT recommend. read more

Customer service is even worse than Comcast. Comcast at least has the decency to tell you that the price you pay is promotional while Metronet just randomly increases their prices by introducing new fees. We've been with Metronet for more than 1.5 years as Internet-only customer. We thought we'd go for the more expensive company so that we would not have to worry about sleezy sales tactics. Unfortunately, you will pay the higher price and be subject to sleezy and nasty sales tactics. In January they introduced a new consolidated "technology fee" that covers different cable fees, in-home routing, wifi router rental, and a bunch of other things. As we are internet-only customers, had our own router, and our own cable we were told the fee does not apply to us. (Also we did not pay any fees before the fees were consolidated.) Even though we called in and were guaranteed that the technology fee would not apply to us it showed up on our bill. We called in 5 more times just to be told that there was no way around this fee. Yes, it took 5 calls to actually reach a supervisor that was available and even though we were guaranteed that she would call back we never received a call from the billing folks or the supervisor. This fee was a more than 20% price increase to our "fixed"/"locked" internet cost and there was no way we would pay it, so we cancelled the service. The only satisfactory part of all these calls were cancelling their internet service. Stick to Comcast or any of the other DSL companies as you'll know what to expect! read more

It's a shame I was forced to give Metronet a star just to post this review. The speed of fiber might attract you... buyer beware. They contract everything out. From the unprofessional install tech who complained about his long day being the reason he missed our 5 hour install window, or the fact he ran uninsulated fiber 100 feet around my house then pinched the line with clips in which he attached to my vinyl siding. *the longer the run the laser stream quality deteriorates* Clearly shown in the attached photo. What takes the cake is instead of unclipping the vinyl siding in one spot to get to the sheetrock, he drilled a hole straight through my vinyl siding. Who does that? My house is on a slab 6 inches lower and you could of drilled a hole through the framing board, and you wouldn't force the homeowner to caulk and seal your mess. Metronet you'll be paying for that mishap. So now we are inside. It takes the tech 1.5 hours to put the onc, Dvr, and router in. Which by the way he never tested. So my wife and I walk upstairs to talk to our kids about having to go to a last movie and the tech vanished like this was an audition for AGT. If your feeling my frustration get prepared, here comes customer service. Which is an outsourced call center who takes support calls for 4 different businesses one being Metronet. I call customer service to let them know I don't have any service after my install. Call 1 - Saturday morning, response I am getting this escalated at top priority to a level 2 technician and you will receive a call today. Can you hear crickets? I can, no call back. Call 2 - Sunday morning umm no one called me back yesterday can you look at my ticket. Response yes I have escalated this at the highest priority and I'm sure dispatch can get someone out there today. I almost laughed out loud. No technician no call. Monday morning arrives so I go into the local office. Nice building I didn't observe any holes drilled through their walls so obviously my tech didn't do their install. I ask to get my install fixed this morning or I would cut the line and bring back their equipment. CSR looks at me says we can't get anyone out there so ok. Metronet now has their equipment back. Comcast has a customer and hopefully you have the research you need to make the informed decision. The grass isn't greener. Horrible disgusting service! They blocked me from being able to facebook message their customer service alleging I did something wrong which I did not. My service is out a second time within a few weeks and even though they were out yesterday they didn't resolve it. They did however take my router with them saying I didn't need it since I had a mesh network I'm not sure about that but it wasn't installed correctly by them. A manager who told me he would be calling later that evening to check on me did not and another manager I requested a credit from my outage a few weeks ago never called me back. Someone marked my account I'm not to receive any more credits even when the outage is their fault, they are just the worst and don't know how to repair anything, improper training, improper accusations blaming things on the customer, not taking responsibility for their own actions! Horrible service across the board. Brand new lines in a new subdivision and they can't keep service up and running for more than a few days. TV tiling and full outages, can't get through and evening of watching without issues or total loss. The internet is just as bad, constantly have to reset router to get it working. It slow when it does try to work, one of the two bands barely supported browsing. Tech has been out several times to tweak settings and replace equipment and the issue returns within days. Last time reported they neverbeen showed up or called us back. I switched to Metronet from Comcast in West Lafayette. My internet service is no longer patchy and slow. I'm receiving the full download speeds I'm paying for and I'm never having to call customer service asking them to reset anything. The transition process from Comcast to Metronet was smooth. I spoke with a couple different customer service representatives on the phone to find the best plan for me and arrange a convenient installation time. Seems like a common theme here but this has been the most HORRIFIC customer service I've ever encountered in any business. I moved from the service area 4 months ago. When I dropped off the equipment in person to the offices in Lafayette, Indiana, I was told I had a $0 balance on the account and I was going to be credited $184.00, sent by check via the mail. Received a bill for $16 four months later. I then called them and asked what the bill was for. I was told it was a complete error on their part and not to worry about it. Also, my credit check will still be mailed out to me ASAP. I then checked my credit score and there was an outstanding delinquent payment still due to METRONET, after I had already been reassured multiple times that I had a $0 balance on my account. I then called METRONET again and was referred to a supervisor by the name of Amanda Dassing, she played a recording of a previous phone call with one of her representatives and I. In the recording the representative stated that not only did I not have a balance due to the account, I would be receiving a reimbursement check of $184.00 later that month. The supervisor then stated that the check was not going to be mailed out to me and that I now owed METRONET $87.00 four months after I had already closed out my account assuming that my balance was $0 based on what I'd been told. She took absolutely no responsibility for her subordinates and was very rude and argumentative towards me. After making multiple efforts to clear my balance and right my credit, they made no effort to correct their mistakes until I spent 3 days calling the supervisor and mentioning that I would not be paying for their incompetence and would call every day until the balance was cleared. They offered to clear half the balance which I took as an admission of guilt and kept calling until they removed the entire balance. This company has no formal training in the least for their customer service representatives and is run by people who would rather win an argument over helping a customer dealing with their fallacies. Choose ANY service provider other than Metronet and save yourself the headache. read more

Came home today to my front and my back completely dug up and destroyed. There are people on my property whom we should have been notified would be coming. Metronet missed it hard on this one. Their third-party contractor also is responsible. Nobody on site right now has any idea of who is in charge. Not only is there lots of equipment on my property but there's empty water bottles and candy wrappers thrown across my yard as well. Called Metro net for them to tell me someone would call me back in 24 hours. Great that gives me just enough time to get an attorney which is what I'm doing as we speak. Poor business. We don't even have this service and now I'm glad because their communication skills are horrible.... should have knocked on my door and let me know as a homeowner that my property was going to be dug up. The Construction company was F.F. & L Construction. Brandon argued with myself and my wife instead of apologizing for the lack of communication. Said that we received a mailer and a flyer on the door which we did not. We have cameras with motion detection on our property no one visited our front porch to deliver any Flyers. Because I've been in the public service business for so long I just think that this is shocking the way that they handle things. I've had Metronet for 3 years now and so far I have no complaint about either their product or their service. My complaint is about their constant price increases. When it was installed, a company VP (so he said) did our installation. I questioned him about prices as our Comcast had increased from $170 to $212/mo. He said that the price WOULD NEVER CHANGE. On anything? ON ANYTHING. I asked this same question 3 times and got the same answer each time. Of course at the end of year 1 our price jumped up $30. I called and was told that the price of tv shows was passed on. He told him of the VP's promise and the person more the less said he lied, how would they pay for more and better(!) shows? Simple, I said, increase the cost for new customers as they came to the company. I just paid January's bill; it jumped $6 since December and all I see are the same bad programs. Wow, where do I start! STAY AWAY from MetroNet! MetroNet mailed me a flyer, so I went online yesterday 5/2/19 to check service availability at our address and was happy to see that our address was available for service. Just to be sure, I called their customer service line to make sure service was available and it was again confirmed. So I signed up and the lady who took my order was very friendly (of course they usually are on the sales side) and she was able to get us scheduled for the install this morning. The install tech showed up on time and was very friendly, but after walking our driveway and down our street a long way, he came back and said "I have good news and bad news". He said the good news is that they can definitely get us service, but the bad news it they will have to send out an engineering survey person this afternoon 5/3/19 between noon and 5 pm to look things over to see what will be needed, the do the install next week. As I was talking to the install tech, someone from MetroNet's engineering department called me and told me the same thing, confirmed the time slot of noon to 5 pm this afternoon, stated I would get a call in advance of their arrival. Before the install tech left, we went over our entire house to figure out the best way for the fiber to enter our home. Long story short - I should have read the MetroNet reviews prior to wasting my entire day on this company. The engineering tech never showed up, never called, NOTHING! Finally around 6:30 pm I called their customer service to ask why no one showed up. After being on hold for nearly 15 minutes, the customer service lady came back on the line and told me that our address is not available for service because they would need to install too much fiber line and it would be too expensive. Poor MetroNet! Proportionately, they probably cost me more in wasted time today than their cost to run the fiber line. The install tech told me they needed more than the 2,500' of fiber line he had on his truck. Over 2,000' of the total amount needed was out on the right-of-way of our road and had nothing to do with the distance of our home from our road. I understand the economics of business, but if it was really about the cost, why did the install tech say he only had 2,500' of cable? He seemed more than willing to use that amount if it would have meant getting us service today. What I don't understand is wasting a new customer's entire day and not even giving us the professional courtesy of a phone call to say they were not coming and were unable to provide us service. Heck, I would have even offered to help out with some of the up front costs if they had communicated with me. 1. I pay for high smooth speeds. 2. Comcast is very deceptive with their fast customer service. Who cares when you only get a fraction of the speed you pay for when getting 2-3x the speed with metronet. 3. If you watch TV, browse the internet casually, and connect phones maybe comcast would suit you. But for gaming, high speed streaming, uploading/downloading large amounts of data and someone who actually understands what they are paying for metronet holds far superior in every way. 4. Metronet fiber is typically buried and rarely interrupted so enjoy when your comcast cables during our ever changing weather from rain, snow , ice, lightning or even had interruptions from wind alone... 3 years of metronet and 1 interruption caused by myself digging up our garden into fiber. Remembering correctly with comcast I may have had service 10 months out of the year working...But they get right on that dont forget!!! read more

I got a note written that they've come to my home but nobody at home at 3:30pm today when I got home around 2pm today. I had an appointment last Friday which was canceled by Metronet and had been rescheduled for 4pm today. After seeing this note on my door, I guess they wanted to play a trick on me. They wrote a time "from the future" as their arrival time for their excuse of not being at the scheduled time. At 2:20pm, I called them and explained this situation they still think that they were doing the right thing and told me to reschedule my appointment for next week. So I cancelled all my services at Metronet immediately. I was lucky I went home earlier and saw this note. Otherwise I would still being foolish and believe that Metronet is a company with credibility. Don't get their service just because their cheap price. Don't do business with a company that has no credibility. read more

If there is any change with your service, Metronet is horrible. They continue to charge for services that has been called to cancel, and even suspend the account if the customer does not pay for the portion they called to cancel. Basically if you want to change anything, they will continue billing until you physically present everything in their office. Otherwise, no matter you use or not, called or not, requested cancel or not, they continue charge you forever. read more

Last time i called i talked to someone, after wait an hour on the phone, and scheduled a work order for Saturday, i called on Monday, when Saturday finally came the tech never showed, forged my signature on the customer receipt and claimed there was no issue. read more
