I stopped by to check out Chester Heights Self Storage and was really pleasantly surprised. The guy at the front desk, Dave, was really nice and helpful (and super busy!). He made sure to pay attention to me even though he was helping other customers, and he gave me a price list to look at. One of the other customers also waiting in there told me that he had researched all of the other storage facilities in the area and that this was the cheapest and newest. They had so many different types of units available, and I went with the 10x10 climate-controlled. I'm really happy with the cleanliness of the facilities, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and also with the security measures at the facility. I've stopped by a couple of times to get stuff out of my unit after hours and I felt so safe! Gates that require codes to get in AND out of and 24/7 video surveillance all over the place. Definitely stop by here if you need self-storage.

When I went to file a rodent damage claim, was told the storage policy does not cover pest damage! Also, lights go out after 17 min and you have to go back down the corridor to turn them on if you need more time. Why no motion sensors? Elevator down button broken for at least three weeks and counting. Office often closed during regular hours. Prices go up substantially every six months. Bait and switch with initial pricing. Avoid.

This storage facility was perfect for what I needed for a few months. I rented a climate controlled unit that included storing my cozy couch! Once I removed my things out of the unit, the items were exactly the same. If you rent a climate controlled unit -- you can only go into your storage unit during their business hours. Award Self Storage offers: a truck to move-in (did not use), along with several boxes and 2nd month rent for FREE! The facility sells boxes and such for typical moving needs. They also have carts inside the storage building to assist with moving items. Overall, this establishment did it's job and I had no issues while there. Also, the staff are nice and helpful when needed. Award Self Storage is 20 mins from Philadelphia which was a major plus!

Sadly, they were recently bought out by something called MyPlace Storage--the service is nonexistent; not open when they say they are; secure entry gate is broken and remains open; the garage door where you unload and load your belongings is broken and remains up; and, worse, the doors to the hallways leading to all the climate-controlled units are open to anyone and everyone. I will be looking for another storage facility now that Award has left the building ... Not recommended.

It's a huge building, units vary. There is only one elevator, so you got to wait for others to load and unload then take your turn. Special shout out to Herisha who was incredible at their job and made renting a new space easy and quick. Remember, as a general rule, storage rental facilities are largely unregulated which means they can raise your rent with 30 days notice to pretty much any amount they want and they know they have you on the hook because you won't want to relocate your stuff. If you get a quoted price online, lock it in for six month or a year by pre-paying if you can. ALSO remember - you can get your own rental unit insurance from any number of companies for half what the rental unit companies will charge you and bring in proof of insurance at the time you rent (but you MUST do it in person). ALSO ALSO remember - you can also bring your own secure lock and not pay $20 for one of their locks. Do all of the above and any smart reasonable manager or employee is going to make your rental process smooth and painless.

From the loading dock I could read the sign for the closest elevator that says it's broken (2-3 weeks now). However, it was only after I had fully loaded a cart and pushed it down the hallway that I discovered the state of the second elevator. We could clearly see an employee was present in the office, but he was not proactive with informing us of the inaccessible state of the building. I could have been spared from loading and reloading the car with 150+ lbs of items. The employee said the second elevator just broke down recently, which could have been fine if it weren't for the fact that the first elevator was not serviced in a timely manner. To add insult to injury, he said one of the elevators was supposed to get fixed today "in the next couple hours" and that he'd call us once it got resolved. Well, it's past 10pm and that didn't happen. Without the elevators, we (and even the employee) are unable to access the second floor. There was a deconstructed couch just sitting by the loading dock, which seemed, potentially, like evidence of another customer who had an issue accessing their unit. Public Storage should notify customers if there are any issues that may impact accessibility to their products and services. To people considering this place, I highly advise taking your business elsewhere. Sure, it seems clean--but at what cost? Would I recommend this business to my enemy? I'm not that cruel.

We found the rates…read morecheaper than nearly all local competitors and since we don't need regular access, we decided to pull the trigger based on cost. When we showed up, though, we were really happy with the decision. The space is clean, with ample carts for loading and unloading. It's not in a safe area of Kensington, but the hours are limited right now so that staff is on site to keep an eye on things. Most importantly, the service has been great. I'm surprised by the review below--I wonder if they've changed management or at least staff? Because in just two short weeks, one of their managers Michael has already become one of our favorite people. He was friendly from the start, showing us around the space and making sure we were happy with the unit we'd booked online. He went above and beyond when I ran over their official hours trying to load some last-minute belongings before we left on our trip. I was stressed, overwhelmed, and working as quickly as possible. He kindly told us not to worry and then left us along for another 20 minutes to finish up. I'm sure staying late at work was the last thing he wanted to be doing at 6pm on a Saturday night but he sent us off with a wave and the same friendly demeanor. A storage space is a storage space, but for the price, cleanliness, and the service, I highly recommend Store Space. Pro Tip: the "ground" floor is actually the basement and requires an elevator to reach. It's discounted for that reason, but we definitely misunderstood the online advertising. 1st floor = ground floor (no elevator required).
