The manager of this Metro Diner requested my address right after my review was published and, today, we received a written apology along with three 13.00 coupons to dine at his place with a request we ask for him when we dine there. We have breakfast at metro every Saturday and so I can only review breakfast. We are always warmly greeted and quickly seated with menus. Breakfast is always hot and cooked to order. I can't eat wheat and they are amazing in substituting avocados for the English muffin for my favorite eggs Benedict. Metro Diner is always great and this visit on Mother's Day was no exception. While mobbed more than usual, we were able to be seated within 15 minutes since we joined the waiting list online. My wife had the Bacon Avocado Scramble Bowl that had crispy bacon, scrambled eggs, Avocado slices, black beans, diced green and jalapeño peppers , onions, and tomatoes in a bowl, covered in a nice hollandaise sauce. As with almost everything at the Metro Diner, it was a large (huge?) portion that my wife was able to take home half. I had the Bissell breakfast which contained scrambled eggs, turkey sausages. regular sausage or bacon, grits vs. home fries, sourdough toast AND two of their wonderful pancakes. Excellent service ! Extremely busy but at the same time extremely efficient. Manager working today was Ken and spoke with him and gave 1 on 1 attention and his kitchen staff was extremely sufficent . Apparently they were short 1 person on kitchen staff but my visit ran extremely smooth. Wait staff was excellent but when it came to kitchen staff, by far the smothest work I've seen from a restaurant. I have to start out by saying I was most impressed with Ashton, who greeted me when I walked in. His sense of humor, genuine smile, and concerned for customer service was outstanding! He's off to a great start. Our server, Victoria was outstanding! Compassionate, friendly, professional she truly was an excellent role model for others The eggs were cooked to perfection so I really like that but the biscuit was overcooked in my opinion. Everything is always so good... the service is usually good, Sarah C. Needs to be more attentive to the customer. She asks and when one person says anything she does for that person. Others sitting at the table go to speak and she walks off making her do several trips. She then comes back to the table and says "what this time??" really!? Had you paid attention to everyone at the table you would not have to come back and forth. She is a decent waitress just needs to be more respectful to more than just one person. read more

These Chicken and waffles are my favorite go-to order whenever I visit Metro Diner with family. I ordered dark meat chicken this time. It's a crunch and flavor on the chicken. Metro Diner seems to be pretty consistent across their stores, and good - the one on Kingsley was no exception. They're usually pretty busy (hence the "noisy diner" vibe), but service has been consistently quick. Moderately large menu, but nothing silly. I've enjoyed everything I've ordered, and portions are large enough that I usually take some home. When we first arrived, the host kept checking on us as we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. Once we were seated, our waitress, Jasmine, was incredibly attentive. She was friendly and personable and very knowledgeable. No one at the table ever had to ask first thing before she offered it. My coffee was always topped off, and we have plenty of napkins and everything we might need. Just a short update. Dennis and I stopped in after a doctor's appointment and we're happy that we did. Despite it being lunchtime, we were seated in good time and in a booth near the the entry (he has walking difficulties). He got a Philly and it was huge! I got a breakfast. I also got a peach iced tea but couldn't really taste any peach flavor in it. When I asked if the "peach" could be strengthened, she said that it was brewed with peach tree leaves so it was not "adjustable." She did not charge me, though. DELICIOUS!! We had to wait about 30 minutes to get in on a Sunday morning which I would say is pretty average for a good breakfast place on the weekend. It was absolutely worth the wait. We were given a table outside, which I normally would not be thrilled about in August in Florida. However, they had enclosures and fans that kept the area feeling pretty decent so it was actually pleasant sitting outside. All of the staff was friendly, and while I wouldn't say we got our food quickly, it arrived as to be expected with the restaurant that crowded. Everyone in my party LOVED their meal. Stopped in to this Metro for lunch on our way to Jacksonville. It was nearly full but we were seated in just a few minutes. The place had a lot of colorful art on the walls and Christmas decorations were plentiful. The place was buzzing with waiters, cooks, bussers all over. I had a single BLT with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy, wife had the meatloaf with home fries and green beans. The bacon in the BLT was thick center cut and a little chewy and the tomato slices were small. The mashed potatoes were a little lumpy which was fine by me but the gravy was a little too strong. We were really disappointed in the meals, dirty coffee mug. Ask waiter (our waitress was ?) for a fresh cup of coffee in a clean cup. Multiple tables needed to be cleaned and under tables too. Wall in our booth had food on the wainscoting (looked dried on) and floors were in need of cleaning. Spoke with Manager who made excuse after excuse... no solution... we shared with him that we won't be back. Service and cleanliness has continued to deteriorate and after today they don't get another opportunity for our business. They did take the charge for the coffee off our bill...it's a treat to go out for a meal and other businesses will get our business in the future. read more
