Has become our local favorite. Trying out different dishes now. Experience remains consistent and reliable.

This place was a boon for lunch. It was crowded when we arrived, but we were seated in a few minutes. The menu is extensive. I had a hard time deciding what to get--brea or lunch? I decided lunch with fries, and I was not disappointed. Everything came quickly and piping hot. It's got diner vibes for sure, and that's enough. No one tried to give me a " dining experience " that fell flat. It's just a diner, but it does that extremely well! Excellent prices, too.

I came here for breakfast and the food was inedible. The food was really bad and it was upsetting because I use to come here as a kid with my parents. The food was really good so it was disappointing to taste their food now and how horrible it has become. We ordered French toast and the rice bowl and loaded fries. The loaded fries were cut up slices of cheese on top of it, we returned it. The French toast was soggy and tasteless. The rice bowl had hard rice and was dry and had no flavor. The service was ok even though it was a bit rushed. I am not sure if it was an off day or something. I had great memories here but unfortunately I will not be back.

Ridiculous place. Most Mediocre $13 Cheeseburger. Grouchiest, Not-My-Job Cashier. Took 20m to cash out bc the cashier refused to simply look at the menu to look at the price breakdown, incorrect on my check. Instead, choosing to argue with every server they had, to figure it out. Apparently this is rocket science. This place is ridiculous. No idea why ppl go here. Really stuffy too boot.

Prices have gone up obviously but still a decent diner, especially for the area. On a hot day, I could only feel the fans running, so we asked to be moved to the back room, away from the kitchen. It was noticeably cooler there, but the booths were too small, especially if you're a person who eats the lumberjack pancakes like my partner does. I had the omelet that includes Swiss, mushroom and spinach, as I was looking for a non-meat option. I love that they don't add butter to the toast and instead bring butter out! Two types of hot sauces available upon request.

Metro Diner was mehhh but it still hit some comfort food cravings. The corned beef hash was soft, mushy in that classic diner way, and honestly kind of perfect - super satisfying and flavorful. The mashed potatoes next to it were giving crispy but also screaming for salt. Like, aggressively underseasoned. Definitely needed at least five shakes of the salt shaker. Not the most mind-blowing meal, but it had that nostalgic, greasy spoon charm. A solid pit stop if you're in the area and in the mood for something cozy and carb-heavy. 3/5.

Before "The Beastie Boys" were famous, one of the early band members lived in the top floor apartment of this small building on Broadway & 100th Street, upstairs from this diner. As teenagers, they always went there after school to practice their first music. This building is the birthplace of that legendary band. I can't go into that apartment, but I can go into this diner - and that's almost just as cool. (I love their french toast with berries with bacon and eggs - yum!).

My husband and I popped in for a quick breakfast before a doctor appointment . This place is usually packed but on a early Monday morning around 8 am we were seated immediately . Our food took a little while to come but when it did we were pleasantly surprised at how good the portion size was , the food came out warm and tasty . A good classic breakfast spot . I took one star away because I was pregnant and the booth space was a little tight on my belly . If youre in the area and want a good breakfast in a place with that good old fashioned homey diner feel in the middle of this busy city pop in . Happy eating

Noisy with rude lady talking loudly on her phone. Had to move my seat only to have loud children and crying baby. Cheeseburger deluxe was yummy and rare like I enjoy just wish I had more lettuce and another slice of tomatoe. Large milkshake seeme like a medium. Expensive.

The restaurant had this cool retro vibe so we gave it a try for breakfast. Ordered an omelet and my wife ordered a waffle and eggs. The omelet was burnt and looked disgusting so I kindly asked that they just redo it as a scramble. The scramble was even worse tasting so I just kept my toasted bagel and took a bite of my wife's waffle. I literally spit it out onto my napkin. In short, the cook needs to be replaced immediately. The food needs to be good first and foremost and it was obvious that the cook did not care about quality and taste.

I really loved the classic diner vibe. The service was fast, but the customer service left something to be desired. Our server made us feel rushed, and everyone at my table felt the same way. We asked for more time twice but felt brushed off afterward. When it came time to order, the server insisted we buy drinks even after we repeatedly declined. As for the food, it was just okay.

Went on a Saturday morning for brunch. This place was pretty busy, but they got us in and out in great time without making us feel rushed. Two of us got french toast with sausage, and the french toast was great. Not too expensive for a diner in Manhattan and the sausage was fat and cooked perfectly.

    Wonderful weather to sit outdoors!

Horrible service, and the food isn't worth it. Better going to a bodega and getting a solid BEC.

I got the market salad with grilled chicken which was very filling and packed with flavor. Think vintage wallpaper, little knick-knacks, and warm lighting. It's got character. I ordered the market salad with mixed greens, honeycrisp apples, goat cheese, candied pecans, and sherry vinaigrette. It was a hearty portion - super fresh and flavorful, and honestly more than I could finish (not a complaint!). I also ordered a Diet Pepsi with grenadine; they don't carry Diet Coke, which I almost docked a point for, but the mix was unexpectedly delicious. Highly recommend it. My date ordered the hanger steak and said it was absolutely amazing. Only hiccup: his first glass of wine he got came out hot... like, microwave-level warm. Fortunately, the server brought a new (cold) one and the rest of the meal was smooth sailing. Service was friendly, the vibe was homey and relaxed, and the food was solid across the board. Would definitely come back, especially for that salad and another round of grenadine magic.

We also wanted to try a classic pastrami on rye--but without committing to the long lines at Katz's Delicatessen. Sarge's ended up being the perfect alternative, just a quick five-minute walk from our hotel. We arrived around 5:00 pm on a Sunday and were seated right away, which already felt like a win. The meal started with coleslaw and both a half sour and full sour pickle--such a classic deli touch, and a great way to kick things off. I ordered the half sandwich with matzah ball soup, and the portion sizes were no joke. The soup alone could have been a full meal: a huge bowl with an equally massive matzah ball. The broth was warm and soothing, and the matzah ball was incredibly light with a perfect texture. The half pastrami on rye was just as impressive. Even "half" was stacked high with flavorful, tender pastrami. Adding a bit of mustard from the table brought everything together--it was simple, classic, and exactly what I was hoping for. Not only was it one of the more reasonably priced meals of the trip, but it was also genuinely satisfying. If you're looking for a no-fuss, traditional deli experience without the wait, Sarge's is a great option.

Enjoyed the experience for a quick diner meal.
