Mesquito Grill deserves 3 stars as a restaurant and 4 as a pub, the inherent problem being that they are trying to be both. This is an awesome place to watch soccer, hockey, football etc., eat some of the best wings on earth and drink from a large beer menu. Family meal deal #2 is quite a value. So much food at that price! (Though the sides could be just a touch larger to match the insane amount of meat) As for the food, we went with rotisserie chicken, pulled pork, brisket and flank steak. The best was far and away the chicken. Delicious and moist, with a nice coating of BBQ sauce on the skin. The brisket was decent, but cut way too thin--as if it's put through a deli slicer. Good, not great, and a little dry due to the paper thin slices. Pulled pork was hard to judge, as it is served with too much BBQ sauce mixed in. Decent flavor, but I would have loved to taste the meat on its own and added some sauce at my discretion. Flank steak was served pretty well done. Not ruined, just a touch overcooked. Would have liked a little pink. It tasted as if it were marinated prior to cooking, and I enjoyed the flavor. Sides: fries, mac n cheese, baked beans, grilled veggies. Fries were well seasoned and surprisingly crisp for take out. There simply weren't enough in proportion to the meal. Mac n cheese. Decent. A rigatoni based pasta with cheese that began to congeal a bit, though this was due to time and cooling and no fault of the restaurant. This was, however, the least touched item of the meal. What a great selection! They definitely have something for everybody on the menu, plus a list of specials every week. Their buffalo wing sauce is the best. I try wings almost every place that serves them, and I keep going back to the Grille for more. It has the right about of heat with a smokey BBQ flavor in the background. There are a ton of flavors to choose from too. The bar is small but always filled with good people and the service has never disappointed. I will never eat at this place again. 2 weeks in a row they've screwed up my evening. As someone that used to run one of the bigger bars and restaurants in town, I know a lot of locals and I know what we expect from a town food establishment. Tonight was the final straw. We called to order food and the phone rang and rang until we hung up. We looked around online and found a second number which we called and it rang several times until finally someone picked up. We asked to order food to pick up and were told that they decided to "close after the super bowl" and may be open tomorrow but probably only for half a day"???? That place has continually gone down hill over the years and this is the final straw. Not only will I never go there again, I will make a point of telling everyone I know around town at all of the other bars and restaurants about my horrible experience. Who closes for a break after the super bowl for days on end? Who decides that they may or may not open and if they do it probably won't be for the whole day? Whoever is managing this place is managing it into the ground and should be fired. If this were the restaurant in town that I used to manage, I would be ape shit about this and heads would roll. Very disappointed! Couldn't wait to try after getting a gift card. Waited forever to be seated after told 20 mins it more like 50 mins. Food was editable. Wings were ok. Brisket was fatty, burritos were missing ingredients that were listed in menu. Missing part of our order that we had to wait a while to get. Servers were not very friendly or attentive. We ordered a family meal deal for Christmas Eve advertised on their website. Says it comes with rolls, slaw and soda. (We had gotten this same thing at Halloween. When my husband picked it up they didn't give us anything but the meat although it clearly stated the rolls and slaw are included on the website. When we called them after getting home and checking to make sure that's what the deal was. Rather than honoring the advertised deal, the owner had the audacity to tell us that they changed the policy a month ago but didn't change it on the website so we could either pay for the rolls or they would credit us $4 for the rolls (0n a $100 order), slaw and soda. Then once we sat the waiter took our order and then we did not seem him for another 20 mins. We got our food from a server and we told him that we needed silverware and after 5 mins we still had not received the silverware. I came here on a Saturday afternoon with my parents after apple picking at Peace Valley winery. We ordered a mix of food to share- wings, ribs and BBQ chicken. The wings were delicious! Every other comment is right on par- we had the garlic Parmesan and the honey barbecue and both were scrumptious!! The ribs were good- not the best I've had- but good. I think I was hoping for baby back ribs, these were really big and tended to be a little more fatty than I would like. Chicken was good but, again, not the best I've had. Our server was really nice and friendly. However, he didn't seem to be that knowledgeable about the menu- maybe he was new? Also, not a big deal but we were over charged on our extra sides (3.99 instead of 2.99) and they didn't offer to correct it, just apologized and said he didn't know why that happened. (Maybe that also attributes to his newness?) Finally, my last complaint was- our runner dropped off our food on the table and when he put the plate down with our wings- three wings fell off of the plate and on to the table. The runner "ran" away and didn't apologize or offer to get us a few to compensate. Not a big deal but I think that lacks courtesy. Overall, the wings are great and I would probably come back to eat some wings and have one of their many available beers. Good food and great prices Get the RIBS(halfrack is more than enough), they are delicious, and ask for a side of hot sauce, its awesome. Went here last year on a Thursday nite and the place was packed. The beer selection was excellent and the bbq was good. This year, I went on a Friday at lunchtime. Just ate there the other day. Cool place and I can tell it's a local favorite. Little cramped in certain places but I think this place has a lot of character. I had the Bennigan sandwich (this was so huge and I can eat a lot) and my wife had the pulled pork sandwich. We also had some wings for appetizer. We have been here before, but today's experience was subpar. The first table we were sat at, had ants crawling on it as we waited for our waitress we killed 3-4 of them. The hostesses were nice but when we sat down at the bar for a meal, it took 10 minutes just for someone to great us and ask for our drink order. After we placed our drink order, it took and additional 15 minutes for our drinks to make it to us. We were going to order food, but it wasn't until we were noticeably angry 10 minutes later, that we were asked what we would like to order. Came here with my husband and a friend for dinner for the second time ever. The first time everything was delicious! This time around not at all. I ordered the fried pickles and they came out WAY overbreaded and WAY overdone. I made the mistake of ordering the fish and chips on our servers recommendation and they also came out dark brown and solid like a rock. I took one bite and knew that this wasn't going to improve further down the line. Upon handing the plate back to Amanda I commented that the fish was way overdone, to which she apologized and I told her it wasn't her fault. I watched her look at the plate and verify that I hadn't taken more than one bite. To my shock and surprise she still charged us $17 for this inedible meal!!! My husband didn't want to contest the charge, but I knew immediately I had to write this review to caution other dinners from this establishment. Very cute place. Staff is very friendly--our server, a cheerful guy barely 20, was extremely helpful with our menu questions and had great suggestions. Wings are PHENOMENAL! My brisket wrap was very good and so was SO's chicken sandwich. They must've had lobster mac as a special, because I don't think it's a regular menu item...this was admittedly not great.
