Despite living two minutes from Mesquite, I hadn't had a chance to try it until last night. First off, the food was awesome. I had a pork burrito and my wife had a chicken burrito, both were perfect and both were that big burrito size that makes you wish you had saved half for later, but were too good to put down. My experience was actually the best part. As I said, this was my first time there, so I was unaware of the cash only policy. When I picked up my food I was really embarrassed to only have $10 in my wallet, but the gentleman at the register told me not to worry about it. His primary concern was that if I left and came back, my food would be too cold to eat. So he gave me the food and told me I could come back to pay later. I dropped the food off with my wife and raced back to pay, but I was incredibly impressed with the courtesy they extended to a first time customer. read more

Mesquite Tex-Mex of Wading River is hands-down the best in the area (if not the best I have ever had). With daily fresh-made ingredients each dish is incredibly flavorful, delicious, and satisfying. The atmosphere is artsy and scenic--a chill spot. It's warm and inviting, clean and well maintained. Staff is pleasant, cheerful, and polite. I was greeted by name when I picked up my order. My boyfriend and I were quite impressed and called to tell them so. They're reasonably priced too! We will most definitely eat here again (not Senor Frogs, El Dorado, or Funcho's...these local eateries do not compare); I would eat here every day if I could without getting sick of their food. I have to be honest and say I was not extremely excited, because all of the new food places in Wading River have seemed to fall short- but that was damn good. and the guy on the register was very helpful and nice. I ordered the portobello and something specialty taco... I forgot what it was called but it had like a pecorino cheese in it. I also ordered the steak and goat cheese specialty taco. brought them home and they were awesome. The only thing I will say is that I felt they were missing some kind of condiment to bring it together so I put balsamic glaze on it. perfect. i'm trying to con my husband into running down there to get me more! Ordered the mesquite shrimp burrito and it was not good at all. Lacks flavor, under cooked rice and beans, and the shrimp was over cooked. I heard many good things about this place from the locals, but unfortunately I was disappointed and feel robbed. I would definitely not recommend. Best place for Mexican food in the area! Some menu items have an American twist which is nice, while some is traditional Mexican food. The atmosphere is excellent and being a local, I constantly come here. There is a beautiful duck pond right across the street and while you are there, ask someone working to direct you to the closest beach, it's a drive away but in my opinion, it's the best beach on the north fork! read more

The food is delicious and there's always a cool spin on authentic Mexican food. They use interesting ingredients to jazz up their menu and the specials board always has new ideas and tasty combinations. Just last week I got an amazing brisket taco that came with a mashed potato puree -- so yummy! I highly recommend the pulled pork tacos with apple slaw, too. I used to stop frequently at the exit 70 111 location/food truck. Thought it was spectacular and brought many friends and clients to both locations over several years. Very disappointed to see that they have folded the wonderful food truck location. I and many of the loyal exit 70 followers have tried the other locations when possible but now have learned that all locations except Wading River one have been permanently closed. Twice i have tried the Wading River location. Once with Family and the other time with clients. Sadly there is absolutely no comparison to what they were producing with the food truck. None of us enjoyed the product or the portions. Guess thats why all the other locations have been closed. So sad. read more

Love love love mesquite.. Can not say enough good things about this place... I have been going to mesquite in sound beach for years and I am beyond happy that they opened a location closer to me in wading river. The owner Craig is a creative genius when it comes to food. The menu has some of the most different and amazing things you could ever hope to see at a tex-mex place. Interesting, creative and flavorful barely does mesquite justice. I have had almost everything on the menu and u cannot go wrong no matter what you choose. Craig and his staff take pride in every dish they offer and it shows.
